Long term inspection conversion
Dear All ,
We have made the setting for long term plan in the inspection plan .
We have completed the RR and the UD . But the system does not show the LTIN status and does not alow the entry or change of results.
What can be the reason for the same ?
Now since the UD has been completed as short term is there any way I can convert this to long term again
Kindly let me know .
Ram
Dear Gajesh,
Thank you for your suggestions and I have tested as per your suggestions . My observation is once it is in LTIN it contiues to remain so and if the authorisation is there all other characteristics(with long term settigns active) which have been earlier closed can be unclosed and the results can be changed.
Thus it means to get the LTIN status one mere needs to keep atleast one characterisitcs unrecorded and go for UD.if other characteristics which have been recorded can be changed then it should have been possible to change all characterisitcs irrespective of whether an unrecorded characteristic exists or not .In any case.
We are now looking for some solution in which we would like to put the lot into LTIN mode so that we record results. is this ever possible ?

Transfer of results From M.I.C to Batch in case of Long Term Inspection
Hi Gurus,
We have maintained long term inspection in the control indicators in the inspection plan and also assigned Class Characteristics to M.I.C.
We are following these procedure for Result recording.
1) we are doing U.D and then posting to unrestriced stock
2) We are doing result recording.
In our case the result from M.I.C are not transferred to Batch
and the Status is Long Term Inspection,Short inspection completed and transfer posting completed. We are not getting Status Long Term Inspection completedand the results are not transferred to batch. What might the reason for this.
Regards
AmitYou must redo the UD to have the results transfer. (Providing of course your setup is correct and the transfer happens for regular characteristics at the first UD)
I would recommend that you create two UD codes. The first one might be ALTP - Accepted, Long-term Pending.
After the LT characteristic is recorded, use QA12 to change the UD to ACC - Accept. When you save, the resutls should be transferred.

Result recording to be done after UD with long term inspection
Dear All
I have activated two MIC's for long term inspection. Inspection lot is created and UD is provided after Result recording. i have run QA12 and go to EDIT/RESET/INSPECTION COMPLETION. status of UD changed to LTIN and then in Qe51 / qe51n i selected long term inspection but error message is coming '' NO CHARACTERISTICS WERE FOUND". Plz help , how to do result recording after UD.Dear Even if the char is long terms & if you have forcefully completed the chars then even if char has LTIN status it will not allow you.
But check this in your sandbox and revert.
1. In the MIC set the 'Optional Characteristic' and 'Long tem inspection ' in the control indiactors.
2. Attach MIC in inspection Plan
3. Do results recording and comlpete UD. all short term charactericts are closed.
4. QA12Change UD with history for Inspection Lot ,
Menu-> Reset inspection completion -> Status changes to LTIN
5. Goto QA02 --> you woudl see " do you wnat to compete Long term inspections" --> yes
6. Then Long term inspection characterictic is open for results recording.
7. Change and complete results --> Make UD
Check and Revert.
Cheers

Dear Gurus,
Scenerion is as material is produced though process order it is checked for quality, but some characteristics are checked for long duration. And results are getting after 5-6 days . Uptill that material cant retain in quality lot. So some temperary result has to give for the lot clearance. I want to use Long term inspection functionality in that. So what are the steps to impement and how can i record results once i given UD.
thanks in advance
ACPHi
So what are the steps to impement and how can i record results once i given UD.
In a task list there can be many char that can be long term.
You only have to define Long term in control indicator of the char.
Once you define that .......you can do result recording for all the char(including the LT char) & take UD
System then change the status of the lot as LTIN after you take UD.
so when you want to do RR for those char which requie 5-6 days to inspect ..you have to go to the RR-->system will show only those long term char here.& disply msg "char are long term.do you want to inspect"
click on ok & do RR for those char even after UD is taken.
I hope you understood.

Short term and Long-term inspection and characteristic
Hi all,
In the SAP portal, they mentioned about Long-Term Inspection with Long-Term Characteristic, and Short-Term Inspectoin with Short-Term Characteristic.
May I know what is the usage on the above and how to setup in the system?
Thanks
YYLong Term Characteristics Indicator is marked in the Control Indicators Tab of an MIC.
Long Term Inspection is used when the Business Requirement is to do Results Recording after Usage Decision.
In normal circumstances, i.e. Short Term Inspection, system won't allow us to do RR once UD is given.

LONG TERM INSPECTION CHARACTERISTICS
can any body guide me my quality plan have short term and long term characteristics 0010 operation i maintained all characteristics is short term characteristics and 0020 operation all characteristics link with class i am not maintained short and long term
my query is i am not enter any values in 0010 operation i enter 0020 operation characteristics but once i done usage decision this characteristics not update for batch means if i maintain any long term characteristics in quality plan system should not update for batch characteristics
if any body done this business kindly revert me this is urget .No need that all characteristic should have status '5'.
But the result only which has status '5' would be updated to batch characteristic value.
If a batch characteristic is long-term and required characteristic, the status would be '1' when first usage decision.
When you record the result for the long-term characteristic, the status would changed '5'.
Then you should save usage decision againg for batch characterstic update.

Dear all,
I want to do long term inspection for my material.so for mic in control indicators i have activated check box of concern .even though after UD i am unable to do inspection .where might be problem.what more i have do settings .
regards
prasadHi Prasad,
The functionality of long term inspection is used, when there is need to record results for some characteristics after UD. So I hope you are doing such so, i mean, the RR is yet pending though UD is completed. Pls ignore if you are on the correct way, I have merely shared a practical possibility.
Dear, Deepak,
I think your confusion/question about the function of longterm characteristic, is also clear herewith, that it don't generate any lot new inspection lot.

Shyamal

Long term x short term characteristics
Dear colleagues,
Easy one.
Where exactly to check if the characteristic to be checked is a shor term one or a long term one ?
Regards
Fernando LuzQP03->enter material->plant->enter>go to char level>select mic/char->go to control indicator--->check whether "Long term inspection is ticked" if not its short term.
There could be another ways also but this is how we see from inspection plan. -
QM, Inspection Lot with Long-Term and Required Characteristic
I want to know if it is possible to print a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with a required, long-term characteristic, if the inspection lot is using the special function "Short-Term Inspection Completed". And then a special Usage decision is made.
Our dilemma is that we have materials that must be shipped for pre approval with a COA, before certain QM tests have been made, and we want to be able to print the COA, but the required flag stops us.
So, what we really want is to require the characteristic if it is one usage decision and not require it if it is a special usage decision related to a "Short-Term Inspection Completed" inspection lot.
We also, would prefer not to have multiple COA profiles to handle, this would cause too much extra data handling.
Thanks,Hi,
I If your Characteristic , whether it is short term or long term, is not marked as REQUIRED characteristic then there will be sure botheration for you to perform UD w\o performing the RR for them. It will prompt a message, which tends to be warning normally. But the characteristic is not REQUIRED and is OPTIONAL one then there will be no message , no botheration.
But one thing is very clear that if you want to print the Result of some MIC or characteristic,
then
1. it must be recorded for the result.
2. it must be maintained in the COA profile.
At the other hand if you don't wish to print the result of some characteristic, whether it is short term or long term, don't keep it in the COA profile. System will not print it for you.

Showing Long-term characteristics are still open
Hi QM expert,
i am using inspection type 03..after result recoding of all operation..i do UD..and save that...
but show Long-term characteristics are still open
status show LTIN STIC STUP
kindly suggest me what to do
Regards
akilHi,
my client require in process inspection inspection type 03 and and after GR inspection type 04.
i have ticked in material master Inspect with Material Specification, in 03.inspection type ..
.then in result recoding MIC not coming..then again i have change .i have ticked Inspection with Task List.then and un ticked Inspect with Material Specification then show all MIC at the time of result recoding .
what ever MIC i have maintained in routing operation
..now i do result recording with value and and accept all MIC value....
then i do UD...i select A ( accept UD) then save...but when open UD screen..show the massage Long-term characteristics are still open near the Insp. End Date
i save that
then show the status ...LTIN STIC STUP
again i opened result recoding and add new MIC and accept that and saved...
then i opened UD screen...and i selected again A (accept) and saved...
but agian showing same massage

With Rahul Pal, Arpit Menaria and Krishna Kishore
Welcome to this Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about evolution of long-term evolution (LTE) and the future with experts Rahul Pal, Krishna Kishore, and Arpit Menaria.
LTE, commonly marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals. It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvements. The standard is developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

1.) No Global standards in LTE Spectrum Bands allocation and usage
Operators have to support range of spectrum bands to support. A lower spectrum band (e.g. 1800MHz) provides better indoor signal strength and travels further compared to one of a higher spectrum band (e.g. 2600MHz). However, the higher spectrum bands are better suited for covering densely-populated areas and managing heavy data volumes due to their larger bandwidth. lower frequency spectrums are more affordable to build and signals travel further, whereas higher frequency spectrums require a lot of base stations to cover a similar distance. This could very well be another possible reason why different Operators around the world use different spectrum bands, besides the obvious fact that they are also limited by the availability of these bands.
2.) Building a New or Converged Network and Backward compatibility with Legacy Networks:
Some Operators will build a completely new 4G network along the existing networks. Other Operators will create a converged network, where they try to make the different generations of technologies work together. In both cases, the process is highly complex and cost intensive. The transition to 4G network will require new radio access technology and core network expansion, while maintaining existing 2G/3G networks alongside the new 4G network will result in additional burden on Operators.
LTE is flat IP architecture so there is a need to create high capacity IP core network to connect MME(mobility management entity) ,S-GW,P-GW. All the interworking nodes including non- 3GPP systems is to be re-dimensioned. Backward compatibility is a very complex task during LTE deployment.
3.) Return on Investment (ROI) on 4G LTE
The migration to LTE or upgrading of existing mobile networks will incur high costs. Moreover, 4G LTE is expected to disrupt the traditional business models of Operators: voice calls and SMS. On LTE, we still don’t have Voice call Support and Proposed launch of VoLTE is still not widely deployed and in testing phases at many places.
With faster mobile data connectivity, consumers will be more inclined to use services and apps such as Skype and Whatsapp for communication. This change in consumer's usage behaviour will pose a challenge for Operators to profit from their investments in 4G networks.
4.) Operators have to devise new Data plans
To justify the investments in the new 4G networks, Operators have to change their data price models.
First, Operators will charge higher prices for their LTE offerings compared to their existing mobile data plans and maintain a higher quality of service to justify the higher Pricings.
Second,. They should implement "pay-for-what-you-use" pricing models, where consumers are charged based on their usage behaviors.
Third, Operators can adopt a value-based pricing model where consumers can pay a premium for a better experience, raising the possibility of introducing tiered service levels that guarantee certain connection speeds.
Biggest problem is customer cannot relate to all data plans and have to constantly monitor data usage to ensure that they receive high data speeds.
5.) Security Concerns from Untrusted Domains
While operators can theoretically benefit from reduced latency and greater ease of management within the LTE architecture, there is a very real possibility that overall LTE performance will degrade due to the high volume of transactions required to ensure that high levels of service quality are maintained and proper policy control decisions are implemented. Operators face significant challenges in the area of network security as traffic in emerging architectures is increasingly likely to flow within spheres of "trusted" and "untrusted" networks. framework allows operators to handle security gateway functionality.
Within the LTE network elements, including the ability to implement IPsec — the IP network security standard. Operators facing this new, unfamiliar environment face a key choice: whether to rely on the functionality provided within the standards-defined LTE network elements to address security and other requirements or whether to adopt standalone solutions. Cash-Strapped Operators might Opt for LTE solutions as they need not invest separately in Security Devices and functions.
6.) True 4G Global Roaming is not possible unlike 3G
Due to the lack of harmonization of LTE spectrum bands across different countries, it is almost impossible within the near future to support LTE global roaming.
To use a LTE device for data roaming, based on the current worldwide spectrum usage, the device needs to support at least 15 bands. Supporting so many band on LTE handset is not possible. So 3G data roaming for international traveler is here to stay for very long time still we standardize LTE Spectrum Bands Globally -
Outstanding Long-Term & Short-Term Characteristics
Hi all,
In QA32 there are Number of outstanding long-term & short-term characteristics, and according the information within F1 help, only if no short-term characteristics are open, the usage decision for the inspection lot can be made. However, I have several inspection lots which have already been made UD with outstanding short-term characteristics, please refer to following screenshot:
DannyDear Danny,
The normal standard process will not prevent you from giving UD if the result recording is done.
For this you need to use a status profile which will mandate that the result recording has to be completed for the UD to be done.

Long Term Planning Issue - Transaction MS04
Hi Experts,
I have two problems looking for solution from you.
1. Transaction Code MS04 -> After entered Planning Version, Material and Plant... I can see list of orders in the report. If I click Production Order, Planned Order, Inspection Lot document Element Details (on left hand additional function) and I am able to double click and display these documents. However If I double click Material Reservsation document It is not allowing me as I can't see "Display element (F7) Icon. How do I get the display element icon for Material reservation document also.
2. We have a lot of Quality Inpsection lots documents when we display in MS04 report but the problem here it is peggeging as requirements in Long term planning report. We want to just display the document here not as requirements.
Please let me know the solution for above two.
Regards
Rc GopiDear NNeeti,
1.In CM38-->in the top menu --->under Planning ->Profiles->Overall Profile.
2For this over all profile check the Details in OPA6 T Code and find out the option Profile assigned to this over all profile.
3.Edit the details of this Option profile in OPA3 (change the number of days as 730 instead of 365 in the finish date).
Check with this setting in CM38 and proceed.
Check and revert

I am a long-term user of Lightroom as a standalone product with a perpetual licence. As a retired person on limited income, it is very disappointing to me that Adobe have introduced the 'Creative Cloud' (CC) subscription service in order for me to be able to continue upgrading this excellent product. It will be for me too expensive at the minimum cost of £9 per month. The additional services that CC brings are personally of no relevance or usefulness. Adobe should be prepared to support existing users who are, like myself, non commercial, amateur photographers by giving them the simple opportunity to upgrade to Lightroom 6 as a standalone, perpetual licence product. As a member of a camera club I know my co-members who use Lightroom are equally disappointed by this move to a subscription-only service.

That is possible, John, but it is only speculation on your part. Might, not will.

There is a "Lightroom 6" upgrade available for US $79 if you have a valid license for any of the earlier versions. From what I can tell, the only difference between Lightroom 6 Full, Lightroom 6 Upgrade and LightroomCC is in the license. The download file is the same.
Other differences - with CC you get LrMobile/LrWeb and they throw in a free copy of Photoshop too.
Yes, but when I bought my standalone license and clicked on the "Download" button it took me to the LightroomCC page. The downloaded file is named Lightroom 6, but in the CC app the installed program is LightroomCC (2015). -
Can I run my MacBook Pro Late 2008 without battery forever? Is it bad in long term or anything? Does it make the system less stable?
My battery got swollen (and I unfortunately noticed it very late and might have be running with it for months, which potentially explains all the crashes everyday and the trackpad not working anymore, the Apple test also says I have a bar of ram broken...) and I had to remove it because the back pannel did not close anymore... Can I still use my MBP normally forever that way? I was planning on buying a new mac anyway but maybe waiting for the next iMac upgrade in the year... Should I wait?Other than the system shutting down instantly if you have a power outage, whcih could corrupt the OS. Nothing else bad will happen.
