Long time customer and am VERY unhappy with Verizon.

At the end of June, my contract for 2 of our phones was up. I called in to lower my plan to something more affordable. I had been on the 1400 minute plan with grandfathered in Unlimited Data for over 4 years and my bill was about $239.00/month. I have was told at that time that our three no-contract phones could get Unlimited Talk/Tex and 4G data plan for $145.00. So I agreed to that and hung up. One week later, we went to a local Verizon store and upgraded 2 of our phones. The salesperson NEVER told us we were giving up the discount per line since we were going back on contract. He never told me we were not actually ON a 4G plan, but apparently a 10G. I received my bill, and it was MORE than I used to pay. I called Verizon on the last 2 or 3 days of July, and was told I wasn't on the plan I asked for and that there was no such thing as a plan for $145 for 3 phones. I told her I would not pay for 10G when I didn't need it, I had ordered a 4G plan. She said she would investigate and call me back that Friday (Aug 1). She did NOT call. I called today (Aug 4) and talked to someone (Wallace) 40 minutes explaining the situation, and we got cut off. He did not call back so I called again and finally got Amber - she fixed my plan the best she could down to about $178 per month.
I would have NEVER given up my unlimited data plan if I had known all this would happen, and I would have NEVER got new phones and went on contract. Now I am STUCK with a 2-year contract or pay $340 PER PHONE to terminate because it is over 14 days.
This is SO WRONG. It is THEFT and DISHONESTY. I was told one thing, given another, then no disclosure of what would happen if I went on contract, and then I find there is no such thing as $145 for the 3 phones.
Verizon needs to FIX THIS! I would LIKE to cancel my contract for good. But I would have to pay $340 per line and this is WRONG when they are the ones that messed up. I do plan on reporting this whole incident to the Better Business Bureau today, although I don't know if it will do any good. NO ONE would let me speak to a Supervisor!!!!
I am LIVID and I deserve to be treated better. Always paid my bill on time and have been a good customer.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here.
First of all, with your 3 NO CONTRACT smartphones you CAN get 10 GB of data on More Everything for $145. 10 GB of data = $100. Add in the line access fees for 3 smartphones at $40 each for $120. That is a total of $220. Subtract the line access fee discount of $25/line for being out of contract $220 - $75 = $145, so you very well could have been on a 10 GB More Everything plan for $145. You must sign up manually for this discount in your MyVerizon account, though. I don't think it takes effect automatically. Simply sign into your My Verizon account and under change features, add the discount.
When you upgraded your phone AT A DISCOUNT, you are no longer out of contract as you must sign a new contract and therefore LOSE ELIGIBILITY for the line access fee discount. Your bill will go up by the $75 discount you were receiving an no longer qualify to receive. This is not something that Verizon must tell you or even should tell you. They are only required to tell you that you are signing a 2 year contract for each upgrade. It is up to you to realize that you will not get a "no contract discount" if you are under contract. That just seems common sense.
There are a couple of thing you can do. It sounds as if you did not manually add the discount for the "no contract line access fee". Since you only upgraded 2 of your lines, you can STILL get that discount on your "no contract" line as long as it is a smartphone on that line. The discount will be $25 if you stay with the 10 GB data allowance. Your bill then should be $195 + tax/fees.
Another option would be to lower your data allowance down to the 4 GB data plan you "thought" you were getting. In that case your line access fee discount for the no contract line will drop to $10, but your data plan will only be $70 instead of $100 for the 10 GB allowance. In this instance, your bill should be $180 + tax/fees.
Of course if you receive any discounts through your employer, that will come off the data allowance charge.

  • I am very unhappy with Verizon's service

I'm so unhappy with Verizon. They offered to me "add a new line on verizon edge and get 100$ bill credit on you bill" and i got confirmed by two reps online that i could get it, i just had to go into the store and after a complete waste of an hour of my time, they turned me away. I'm constantly losing service, their customer service reps are rude and disrespectful. They always forward me to other reps who then forward me to other people. I am about to switch to Sprint or AT&T, because it's getting to be too much of a hassle. They add on misc charges on my bill.
It's sad that Verizon used to actually be number One, now they're just as poor and rude as T-Mobile.

I agree ... their customer service has gone down the toilet to boot. Have you found an email address for customer service(?) as their live chat to india is useless. I often wonder if they money they save is equal to the customers they lose?? every email & text update i get from them is also in spanish which is like salt to my wounds...

Be patient, Apple is coming out with a update soon, its been reported that they have sent the update to the carriers to test, which means it will be soon. And is suppose to address this issue.

  • Long time customer for an upgrade

I would like to know why I couldn't get the buy one get one free Samsung promotion?  I might be only 4 months away from an upgrade but I was going to add a line to my account.  Why would I just buy one phone?  This is absolutely ridiculous that I couldn't get the free phone.  Can a Verizon representative explain why they couldn't do this for me.  The customer service rep had the audacity to ask me to change my wireless plan on top of this.

    damamy wrote:
If the new customer is paying for service that same way I have for many years....WHY is his phone only $99????
Possibly because Verizon is subsidizing the phone for people who do not have contracts. You do, they don't. You complete your contract, you will get the same pricing.
For example, you get a new phone for $99, which retails for $500, in exchange for signing a 2 yr contract. You immediately turn around and sell the new phone on a site such as swappa.com for say $400, making a $300 profit. You THEN return to Verizon, being a long time customer, and demand Verizon forgive your contract and sell you another phone for the discounted rate, which they do because you are, after all, a long time customer. You get a new phone for $99, which retails for $500, in exchange for signing a 2 yr contract. You immediately turn around and sell the new phone on a site such as swappa.com for say $400, making a $300 profit. You THEN return to Verizon....
I can't imagine why Verizon doesn't allow people to do this????
Now tell me, who is trying to rip off whom in this scenario???

  • Long Time Customer Very Unhappy With Latest Service

First off, I've purchased at least $15k-$20K worth of my electronics at Best Buy over the last 10 years...5 flat screens, a Bose sound system, washer and dryer, a Samsung refrigerator....all without problems...until my most recent purchase. I can honestly say it has been the worst experience I've had in retail ever.
I purchased a Frigidaire FGHS2655PF5A on Feburary 13th, and it arrived quickly on the 16th. It didn't take long for the frost to build up and the internal fan to grind so loudly that it overpowered the tv sound in the next room so I called customer service on March 8th (the problems started earlier but I had other issues going on that took my time). Little did I know that Best Buy's return policy is 2 weeks. That seems really short for a $1,300.00 purchase. So I'm 6 days past a very short window to begin with and they offer to send out someone from Geek Squad to take a look at it. Personally, it sounded bad enough they should have just taken it back but I was given the "no exceptions" line several times, so I accedped the Geek Squad help.
The gentlman that came out was incredibly nice and professional, but he couldn't fix the problem. Apparently the first person I spoke with on the phone wasn't listening to the problem and sent a completely unrelated part, so the repair man ordered the right one and came back the next week to install it. Unfortunately it didn't work, and I still have crazy grinding and frost.
I called the repairman and he in turn called back at the office to have someone call me to schedule a new appointment. I had a voicemail from someone who said to call back to Geek Squad, and that he had an open ticket for me to schedule more help.
I called in tonight (April 14th)at 7:50 PM PST and got an incredibly unhelpful individual who said "Oh I see the ticket but I can't fulfill it. We were never supposed to even help you the first time" I responded "Well you kind of didn't, hence the reason I'm calling back, but are you telling me you won't send someone out to fix this broken refrigerator?" He said he would check with his manager and put me on hold. Five minutes later he said his manager denied the request. I asked to speak with the manager and he told me "It will be a long time, she's busy and I think she just left the floor" I asked him for his ID number or last name for reference and he said "I can't give you that information" Then I asked him for his supervisor's name "I can't tell you that either". I told him I'd wait for her to be available. 10 minutes later he came back and said "She's still busy, do you want to wait?" I said "Absolutely". 10 minutes later, he came back and said "I've been instructed to schedule someone to come out but I'm not doing it under my name so I don't get in trouble. My manager said that she was going to take too long and didn't want you to wait so I could submit the order"
So here's the situation I'm in. Long time customer, horrible experience that hasn't been indicative of all of my experiences, but this one was terrible.  In the past I've had nothing but great things to say about Best Buy, but given the incredible frequency of how obnoxiously loud my refrigerator is, I have a story that I will tell everybody that comes into my house and asks "what the heck is that noise?".

    Hello Jmcc084,
Welcome to the forum. In our household of 5 (sometimes 6 when my son is home from college), I could not see myself being without a fully functioning refrigerator. Also, the grinding noise sounds dreadful. I can completely understand your frustration, and I'm very sorry to hear how many troubles you've encountered to get it repaired.
Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to locate the service orders for your refrigerator, and I will be reaching out to the appropriate team to gather more information. I will be following up with you as soon as I have more details. In the meantime please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

I feel that Verizon has conducted and treated a long time customer in a predatory manner just to make a few dollars. I added a hotspot feature on my Iphone and its called a plan change. I wanted 1 gig and ended up with 4 gigs. If 1 gig was not available I was not informed. Plus the charge for the convertion to a new plan. I called today and I cancelled the plan so I 'm being charged another fee for the plan change. I have really enjoyed working with Verizon but I will have to start looking for another provider.

Then the employees, and you, don't understand EDGE.  It's not a service plan, it's a PAYMENT option to pay the full price of the phone in installments, and have no "contract" or obligation  to stay with Verizon once the phone is paid for, which you can do at any time.  So if you were trying to get discounted pricing, and the reps were talking EDGE, you were talking at cross purposes....
In order to get the upgrade pricing, you need to sign a contract for 2 years of service, and agree to an ETF if you leave Verizon before the two years.

If you choose US as your country while your bank details and credit card or PayPal account are from another country, then you will get an error not related to your details, such as 'the CVV number is incorrect', although it is correct.

  • Unhappy with verizon about long distance charges

Hi I have been very happy with verizon for a very long time, and I always had every problem resolved, the customer service is one of the best there is. But I saw a $38.87 in long distance charge on my bill. Which is impossible because when I first got my cell phone I was never able to make international calls from day one, also I only use calling cards or apps to call international. As always I trust verizon wireless to resolve my issues. So when I called I spoke to BROOK and she was fine at first, but then when I told her that I never added international calling to my plan, she said that this service is given to long time customers. And even tho I did accepted that in fact I did call international, she kept repeating herself to me saying, ''YOU JUST ADMITTED TO ME YOU MADE THE CALL''. Of course I admitted it, I'm not gonna lie. I felt like my mom saying ''you just admitted to me". When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she said I am the supervisor and I can only meet you half way as a courtesy or something like that. I insisted to speak someone higher and finally she put me on hold, I said ok she said ''uhuh'' like I inconvenienced her. I work in customer service, customers can get really rude and frustrating, and even curse you out, but in no way I did any of that(because I know how it feels). The point is that I never added international calling to my plan, and I used a calling card to make every international call. Although the gentleman she transferred me after was more like a person DID NOT resolve my problem I am $19.00 short. I am so upset and even when verizon was charging extra for many months in the past w/o my permission (it was returned after). Even that, did not make me upset because I trusted that verizon will resolve it with no problem. Well now I can't wait until my plan is due on November and cancel my services.

I am also unhappy with verizon's long distance charges for my cell phone. It's ridiculous that I'm getting charged $6.37 in long distance charges for two months in a row. The first month, I went to the store and they mentioned a call to Canada. I was like "fine, I may have called Canada." The next month, I am absolutely certain that I did not make any international calls; yet I got another charge for $6.37. Now I'm going to have to waste my time on the phone with Verizon for this refund because their website links you to discussion forums instead of providing an option to email customer service to complain about overcharges.

  • Best Buy Just Lost a Long Time Customer

I am sharing this with the community and Best Buy to showcase the epitome of poor customer service as it relates to a "one-size-fits-all" policy, to warn others, and to tell Best Buy that they've lost a good customer.
On Black Friday, I purchased a new LG 55" LED TV on bestbuy.com.  The TV was to be placed in my gameroom which was being remodeled.  Like a good boy, I also purchased the geeksquad protection program just in case something were to happen in the future.  The television arrived a week later on 12/6.  Being that I was not ready to install the TV, it sat in the same place that the drivers placed it until 2 days ago when I opened it for installation.
The television screen was completely shattered.  I immediately called best buy Customer Care, and they relayed to me their policy that unless you open the package within 14 days, there is nothing they could do.  I told them that I understood that this policy is designed to prevent fraud, which unfortunately I'm certain they deal with all of the time.  I did explain however, that the plastic and stickers are still all over the TV and that the screen is shattered from the bezel outward, indicating a squeeze or shipping impact from the side.  They did not care.
I called Geed Squad to see if my protection program covered this, they gave me the same story essentially saying that had I opened it within 14 days I could have returned it, but that the plan I bought didn't cover cracked screens.
I went to my local store, where employees relayed to me that they are aware of shipping damages occurring all of the time.  They apologized to me and tried to find a way to help me, however given the current policy, they were also unable to help while AT LEAST telling me that they believed that I did not cause the damage myself.  In fact, one employee told me that this same exact thing happened to them, and Best Buy wouldn't help them, an actual employee of the company.  Nice huh?
LG will not do anything to help me either, stating that it would be on Best Buy to cover the damages somehow.
Again, I understand the intent with these policies and unfortunately dishonest people game the system and ruin it for honest people.  That said, this is a one-size-fits-all policy that in this case has failed a long time customer.
I have made many big ticket purchases via Best Buy over the years.  No more.  I will never shop at Best Buy again, and will spread the word to as many other people as possible to never shop at Best Buy if they expect good customer service.
As of now, I have a $600 paper weight.  Thanks for nothing Best Buy, you just lost a good customer.

    Hello mw7778,
I can think of very little more upsetting than having an exciting new purchase be damaged when I opened the box. I apologize for your having to cope with such unfortunate circumstances.
With regret, what you've been informed heretofore is true. Outside of the return period, which was extended to January 15, 2015 for Holiday purchases, we are unable to offer a return or exchange for your TV. Geek Squad Protection coverage does not extend to the kind of damage that you describe. Geek Squad should be able to provide repairs, but they would be at your expense. I'm sorry that I do not have better news.
While I understand your reasons, I'm disheartened that this experience may influence your future shopping destination. It is my hope that you will give Best Buy another chance one day.
I'm grateful that you wrote to us about your experience and for your feedback on our Return & Exchange Promise.
    Sincerely,

  • As a long-time customer of Apple, I am beginning to LOSE CONFIDENCE in Apple products

7 months ago I purchased 2 new Apple computers, a MacBook Pro and an iMac 21.5'. The iMac is now experiencing HUGE issues.
One day I was using it for an important music session and it turned off without warning, and would not turn back on regardless of what I tried (replaced memory, tried system reset, left it unplugged overnight, etc). I took it to the Apple store in SOHO and the issue was fixed temporarily, but then 3 weeks later (in the middle of another important recording/mastering session) it failed again and would not turn on. I took it to Apple again and finally got it back over a week after I dropped it off. So far, in the past month, the following has been replaced in this one computer: 1) Power Supply 205W (replaced TWICE), 2) Fan, Optical Drive, 3)AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB Video Card, 4) Board, LED Backlight, and 5) Format Hard Drive & Reinstall OS and ALL software.
Now the iMac will neither start nor connect to the keyboard/mouse AND I was told by your "geniuses" that I will need to format my hard drive (which contains $10,000+ worth of software and irreplaceable music projects) and reinstall EVERYTHING.
As a long-time customer of Apple, who prides himself on providing quality service to his music clients, this seems UNACCEPTABLE. Unlike Apple, I am not a multi-billion dollar business and cannot afford to lose the important clients. Luckily they have been patient with me up to this point. I use Apple products in almost every facet of my life (iPhone, iTouch, laptop, iMac, etc) and was planning to purchase 2 Mac towers when I open my studio in Brooklyn at the end of this year. Now, I am hesitant to use Apple for my business.
So my ultimate question for Apple is, how much do you really value your customers? Are you willing to help an aspiring entrepreneur regain his confidence in your products (HIS products)? Are you willing to admit that you have given me a faulty product and replace it with something that is guaranteed to work and make both me and my clients happy? The ball is in your court, Apple. Let's see if you are able to TRULY provide the type of customer service your company prides itself on.
    Sincerely,
    Long-time Customer & First-time Skeptic, Matthew Brittain

Yea I have everything backed up BUT that does not change the fact that the computer hardware is FAULTY and that even with the backup I will need to reinstall ALL of the software. One of my programs alone is a 6-hour install. Had my computer not failed I would still be working on my projects, rather than waiting for installs to be completed.
    Make sense now?
Had you taken the time to clone your drive there would be no reinstall required, you chose the method you use to backup, now you get to actually use it. But If your Mac is currently functional, make a clone, it will save hours if not days of work.

  • Verizon just lost a long-time customer

On September 19 I walked into a corporate Verizon store on East Washington Avenue in Madison, WI to check out the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.  Because of the early upgrade offer both of my lines were then eligible for the upgrade.  I've been a customer for 9 years.  When one of the reps brought up the Edge program I asked him, and then his white-shirt companion, about pricing.  I was clear that I was not interested in the Edge plan if I could not get the upgrade pricing.  Several times I made this clear.  They punched numbers on their calculators and the numbers came out to what I expected for upgrade pricing.  Two days ago I get my bill notification.  I take a look and there it is; full price charged for the phones.
I called Customer Service, and while the young lady on the phone was sympathetic and did try to correct things (she did her job the best she could), it came down to I have to go into the store and argue with the manager, Dustin, to fight to get the pricing adjusted and get back on my old plan.  What possible reason would I have to pay full price for two phones, and move to a more expensive plan?  I've had plenty of data in my old plan, and a 2-year contract has never bothered me.  Apparently, according to the CS rep on the phone, this is not the first time a store has said one thing and charged differently.
What's going on, Verizon?  Can you not control your corporate stores?  A long-time customer has to go in and argue with the manager?  Argue?  This has all the makings of a shady used car dealer.  And in the end, if I could manage to get things worked out, what do you have for your long-time customer for the trouble?  Verizon needs to empower their first-line call center folks to offer something for the misery that their lack of corporate control seems to unleash on customers.  Not a $10 gift card either.  Something of this magnitude should have a whopper of an apology offer.
Anyone thinking of going to Edge, don't.  In fact, after this whole deal today I'm going to take my business to T-Mobile.  I just can't believe Verizon has no control over their stores.  I can't believe they have no ability to correct this kind of issue without sending me into a store to essentially wrestle with a manager who, apparently, is an a-hole.  Head to T-Mobile people.  My old plan with Verizon will cost me $40.00 a month less with T-Mobile.  So again, if I wanted to pay full price for a phone, why wouldn't I just go to a better carrier who has superior coverage in my area?  Well, that's what I'm going to do.
So long, Verizon.  Maybe you'll learn after state consumer laws crawl up your rear for the actions of the stores you cannot control.

This fee was implemented in April 2012 http://vz.to/IBiScZ and only applies when you upgrade to a device at a subsidized price with a new 2 year contract. You can avoid this fee if you upgrade at full retail price to any phone.

  • Long-Time Customer (time for a change?)

I have been a Verizon customer since 2004.  I have watched as my bill has steadily gone up and up and up.  Which I suppose is to be expected due to cost of living increases over the years.  BUT, are there no "deals" for long-time customers.  Is our dedication worth nothing to Verizon.  After almost 10 years of service from Verizon, I am leaning more and more toward a different carrier.  I just don't know where to go.  My son has an iphone and I just have a "telephone".  My phone is supposed to have all this stuff, but the camera is nasty and I've never been able to access my email (unresolved issue).  I also have one of the slide out keyboards but never use it. The keys are so small that I can never type the words correctly. I forget its there.  All I would really want would be a good phone with a decent camera.  These photos are truly awful.  I don't know what I want anyone on here to do about any of this.  Guess I just wanted to vent.  I may as well ask (if the Verizon Police don't remove this part) if anyone knows of a carrier I could switch to OR if you know of any "deals" Verizon may have.  (yes, I know I could look it up, but I still wouldn't know how much it would REALLY cost me).  I pay approx. $180/mo for current usage.  Does that sound like a good deal?  Thanks!

I too have been a long time customer - about 13 years.  I have never had a problem with VZW until the past year and a half.  I got a Droid 3, based on high recommendations - and I have regretted it ever since.  I have had it replaced THREE times in a year and a half - and considering I had to have a brand new phone replaced within three months with a refurb...that jerks my chain.  Yeah, I know it's in the fine print - but really, it's ridiculous.  So now that I have had four of the same stupid phone that keeps messing up doing the same things (VZW support said there are no known issues - yeah...read for a bit, there are lots) - I put my foot down and asked for a totally different phone.  They sent me a HTC Rhyme which quite honestly, is worse than the Droid.  I can't even run the apps I need on it.  It's useless.  The Droid 3 - their initial solution to the issues - run it in safe mode.  Sure, I paid for a smartphone that I have to use as a regular phone.  What is the point of having a smartphone then??  They didn't even bother to send me a replacement charger for the new phone.
My upgrade isn't available until July, my contract isn't up until November.  I can upgrade at full price - or hey, I can take my husband's upgrade which he has been hanging on to in order to get an iPhone - it's there, and we'd planned to use it for him.  Why should I have to use his upgrade to correct the problem with the crappy phones they send?  His upgrade is his - that's how it works - I will not use the upgrade he has and is entitled to in order to correct a problem that has been dragging on for a year and a half, that VZW needs to correct once and for all.  Their solution - send another of the same garbage device -
And now they have the $30 upgrade fee.
Wow, VZW, thanks for appreciating your long time, loyal customers.    I've had it.  I've researched other providers - tmobile coverage isn't good where I live, nor is at&t.  Sprint would be my only other real option - and considering they have the iPhones for HALF of what VZW cost is for upgrade (16 gb for $99 at sprint - $199 here at VZW).  It's all adding up to my saying fix it or I'm out.  This is ridiculous.  There is something to be said for customer loyalty - and I'm sorry, but if you run a business and don't value your customers - well then you deserve to fail.
