Long Time Loading Home Media

I have my Apple TV connected by ethernet and sometimes I get the 'Loading Media' on the screena and nothing happens, other times the media loads up fast.
Never happened before when I had the ATV with the HDD obviously, but this very annoying.
Is anyone else having this issue and does anyone know a work around?

  • Long time for Adobe Media Encoder to encode 3 minute video

I created a Premiere Pro project with a dynamic link to Adobe After effects (both CS4 versions).
Upon finishing this PremPro project which is a 3 minute song with 3d animation playing in the background, I chose Export Media.
Since first try was taking a long time (15 minutes and little progress), I removed the 3 transitions I had in my Premiere Pro Project, reduced the audio from 128 to 64 bit, decreased the bit rate to its lowerst 56 kbps instead of the default which is something like 1000-2000 kbps I believe (Please let me know default value so I can reset it ) and reduced video size from 960 x 620 to 380 x 244.  I also shut all of my programs that could be chewing up significant memory.
I'm just looking for a rough feel of how things will look so only wanted to start with a 'draft quality' render of my flv - but the Adobe Media Encoder is still saying it will take 1 and a half hours, and this is on a 64 bit, Win 7 system with lots of RAM (24GB) and plenty of hard drive space.
The actual After Effects compositions are fairly complex, with numerous 3d animations superimposed on one another, but I wasn't sure if this sluggishness suggested something was wrong that I need to correct to get quicker performance, or if it's simply a reflection of a complicated scene, and that's how long things will take even at those very minimal settings.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure what you mean about the process.  From Premiere CS5, I click on "export" which brings up a menu. I select "media" from the menu which brings up the Adobe Media Encoder.  I adjust my settings and click "export" from the bottom of the screen to immediately render the Premiere file.  Clicking "Queue" would put the program into the AME Queue.  Am I missing something?  On the slowness issue, looks like I need to reinstall AME. I've been reluctant to do that, partially because I'm using some Matrox hardware and I'll have to reinstall the Matrox softare to populate the matrox settings into the media encoder. Looks like it may be worth it.
    Thanks.

  • EBay item pictures take a long time loading. Not so with Internet Explorer

Last week I downloaded and installed Firefox 5.0. Ever since, and mostly noticeable on ebay where there are several pictures of each auction item, the pages load very slowly, certainly a situation that I have never experienced with any other version of Firefox.
I checked out the same pages with Internet Explorer which I haven't used much at all since Firefox....and discovered no such loading problem. So it totally Firefox 5.0.
What can I do to correct this
My OS is Windows 7 with a lot of memory.
I haven't noticed the same webpage loading problem on most other pages. Mostly with eBay. What gives?
    Thanks

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • Long time loading Safari pages...???

What can I do to 'speed up' the loading of my webpages on Safari...it can sometimes take 2-3 minutes for a page to fully load...it's very frustrating and time consuming....

    Hi Robert
I have found creating a personal location in your Networks Panel, plus using specific DNS server codes seems to speed things up on the Network side of the equation.
    Here's how to do that:
Go to the System Preferences>Network panel
    - Location - set up a personal location by clicking on the drop down menu and selecting "add a location". Use a name familiar to you. Once established, select "apply".
    - Next, click on the "Show" drop down menu and select Network Port Configurations. Only Ethernet or Airport ought to be checked. Move it to the top of the list (you can drag it). Select "apply".
    - Back to the "Show" menu, select "Ethernet" or "Airport". Click on the TCP panel. There, enter 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 (separate lines) in the DNS servers box and select "apply". If you use Comcast, you'll have to contact them as they have their own DNS codes.
Creating a personal location, plus adding the DNS codes seems to speed things up. Otherwise, the "automatic" function has a tendency to "search" for available locations, hence creating the lag.
In the Finder, go to your Utilities folder and select "Terminal". Once the screen is open enter lookupd -flushcache and press return. This clears out the DNS cache. Once done, quit Terminal.
On the Safari side of the equation here are areas which can slow things down:
Favicons - the small icon that appears in the Address window next to the URL is stored in an Icon folder in the your User Account Library>Safari folder. Over time, this folder can become quite large. One remedy is to move the Icon folder to the trash. Safari creates a new folder on the restrart. Again, over time the file will build a new icon cache based on web sites visited.
Safari Cache - useful for dial-up, not useful for highspeed. Good to empty the cache via the Safari Menu each day.
History - the larger the history (max is 999 entries/7 days), the greater potential for slower page loads. Good to review the History via the Bookmarks Manager (click on the book icon on the bookmarks bar), removing entries not deemed necessary.
3rd party add-ons - These can create conflicts or slow-downs depending on the type used. Good to be discerning about what 3rd party items are used to supplement Safari's features. Also, making sure they are up to date is important too.
Bookmarks - the larger the bookmark file, the more processor power required to access this file. Just as with History, good to keep this file clear of unnecessary bookmarks.
Cookies - accessed via the Safari Preferences>Security panel. Good to keep this file current too.
Autofill - accessed via Safari Preferences>Autofill. Depending on the number of items in the file, slowdowns can occur here too. If you are using autofill, click on the "edit" button to remove unnecessary items.

  • Long Time Loading Library

I have a large iTunes library (4.6TB) recently Apple TV2 takes an age to read the library (5 minutes +), then having selecting something to watch it takes ages to start playing.
Anyone else experiencing this and are there any workarounds (my Apple TV1 is still almost instant).

I just got off the phone with an AppleCare tech and we got it all figured out. You will have to do a factory restore, so all of your settings will be lost but it will only take like 5 mins to get all of that plugged back in.
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Restore. It will take about 3-5 mins to go through the restore porcess but it will be WORTH IT!! If this works, please come back and post that. Good luck!

  • Firefox is taking a long time to open and load my home page, didn't happen while the old version. Also stops responding frequently.

    Hello there,
I have been a loyal user of Firefox since 2005 and have never had and issue with this browser. It has been my top choice when it comes to using it in my devices along with suggesting to other people. The problem I have recently began to experience happened after updating to the newer version...4 or 5, not sure which. My Adobe Flash player is up to date and have no add-ons running that are not part of the default browser.
When I click the icon it takes a long time for the window to show up and a good minute before the homepage shows up and is functional to use. I never had this issues with previous versions so I am assuming there might be some bug causing this particular problem. Also, when I am playing games Firefox decided to stop responding and I have to force quit so my games don't suddenly slow down. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.7; I also tested opening Safari and it opened and loaded the homepage is about 3 seconds, I don't wanna have to switch unless I have to. Any help is appreciated, thanks. :)

    Hi Donekes,
First off I need a little more information to help with troubleshooting.  You say that an error occurs when you "try to re-open the same problem app before the old session completely exits".  Does the error have an error code or dialog display?  It may also be possible to receive an error log.  Here is a knowledge base that explains how to retrieve error logs.

If you are able to get that information then please post.  Have a good day.

  • Everytime I open Firefox - it takes a really long time and reopens the Firefox Update tab that says "Choose your Persona" and "More ways to Personalize" tab along with my regular home page tab. Sometimes it tries to load the add ons too and takes a reall

Every time I open Firefox it tries to install the same updates (that I don't want) and the Firefox 3.6 "Choose Your Persona" etc. tab opens along with my home page tab. It takes a really long time to get onto Firefox because of these problems.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Don't remember

Well, this worked on my desktop! But my problem is on my laptop. :-) I'm running XP, but there was no "Username" under Documents and Settings under the C drive. I did a search for those file names and it wasn't there. I found Mozilla Firefox folder under: C\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox. There are 2 - 1 is Mozilla Firefox (shortcut) and the other is Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). I did a Mozilla Firefox search and this is all that showed up.
When I click on the shortcut link (the 1st one), it opens up 2 screens of Firefox. One is the "this is embarrassing" screen. The other is "Choose your Persona" screen. I closed it and reopened and it took me to my home page.

  • HP Laptop takes a long time to load home screen

Last Night, I decided to update my laptop because I looked at my updates and I did what I was supposed to. It was taking a long time to restart, so I shut it off and turned it back on. My laptop said it was installing updates, so when it finished updating.  I turned if on, and it went to the Hp screen where it started loading, once that screen went away the laptop went to a black screeen, and it stayed like that for about 5-10 minutes. So I turned it off and turned it back on about five or six times when I decided to press the B and windows keys, so my laptop did a bios test. Once that finished, It went straight to the HP logo, and then it just went to a black screen. I dont know if it did this because I restarted my laptop way too many times last night, or because I decided to update the laptop. Help!

    Please check your sqlnet.ora.
    Please try this:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, HOSTNAME, LDAP, ONAMES)
take care that first directory path is set to tnsnames.

  • Long time to load and save

I upgraded to Premier Pro CS5 about a month ago and have had excellent results with several small projects.  But now I am working on a larger project (45 minutes) and the projects takes a long time to load - 10 to 15 minutes - and even longer to save - up to an hour.  Today, while saving, I received low memory warning from windows.  I changed optimize memory in edit - preference to "memory" with no effect.  Here are some of the particulars
    System
    Intel Core I5 650
8 gig ram - 6.5 gig dedicated to Pr
    2 - 1 terabyte hard drives
    Gforce GTX470 video card
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    dedicated computer to Premiere Pro
    Project
    Mostly HDV video
    some DV video
    ambient sound track
    narration track
    music track

Any help would be appreciated.  This is my first post to this forum.  Am I in the right place for this question?

  • Why when I click on an app it takes a long time to load, like eBay or Pinterest.

When I click on my apps, like Pinterest or eBay, it takes an extremely long time to load. This has just recently started happening and to my knowledge nothing has changed. Safari still appears to be running normally. Can anyone help me?

    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Takes a long time to load library

recently when I click on itunes to initiate....it takes a very long time to load library. Never used to do this. Any advice on how to correct this.

    I have 192Gb of 999Gb left
    That should suffice.
I have now disabled FACES, XML and previews. I'll test this shortly to see if it helps. I'm not sure what difference this will make to other apps.
That will be important, when you want access the APerture library from other applications using te Media Browser or when you want to sync your images to your deviced usin iTunes. For images, that you want to use in the Media Browser you will need previews, or for browsing your aperture library in quick Preview mode. You can craete previews indivudally, if you do need them only for selected images. If you want to use the Media Browser with third party applications, however, you will also need the XML. See:
Aperture 3.5: Set "Share XML with other applications" to "Never" for better performance and faster quit times
Okay. I've closed Aperture and reopened it 4 times. It appears to go through this 'IMPORTING FROM iCloud November 2013' every time.
Either it takes a very long time, or there is an image or a video in your Photo Stream that cannot be imported, because it is incompatible or corrupted.
For iPhoto libraries it used to help, to remove the current "Importing" or "Auto Import" folder  from the library package. Try, if this will help for your Aperture library.
See this post by LarryHN how to do it:
TS3745 Re: iphoto library error message???
If you cannot get the import to stop this way, post back, Then you have to delete the photos from your Photo Stream or reset the Photo Stream.
