Long time to sync to computer

My 8310 v 4.5.0.110 takes 11 minutes to sync with computer, desktop manager is v 4.2.2.14.  This started several weeks ago and I can't find any help at Blackberry.

  • Long time to sync ipod

    Hi,
tearing my hair out with this ipod touch.
just tonight whenever I connect my ipod to my pc running XP it starts to synchronise and takes about 3-4 mins. eventually it completes the sync but theres no way it should be taking that long, worked fine only a couple of hours ago.
tried my USB slots on the front and on the back and its the same with all of them.
after the initial sync waiting time, if I still have the ipod connected and click on the 'sync' button on itunes it does it at the normal time.
all this is before I get the error messages saying that the 'device is not connected' but first things first.
    driving me mad.
    anyone else having similar problems?

I am having a similar problem except on my Mac. My touch was working fine last night and today it takes a very long time to sync. I checked the Console and the following was being posted there over the course of the sync:

I know MDCrashReportTool is used by Apple to submit crash details for mobile apps, so I am wondering if this is on their end. My internet connection works, and I have restarted iTunes, my Mac and the touch. Nothing has changed since yesterday, so I do not believe the problem is with me. Can anyone give me a clue if I'm headed in the right direction or provide a fix?

  • IPhone taking a long time to Sync due to "backup"

So after installing 2.0 and some cool new apps, when I just try and sync to my PC it takes around 45 minutes because it runs a backup of everything.
    Why is that?
Is it because I installed an app from the iPhone App store and then had to sync it with my iTunes ones that I installed? I've since removed the app that I downloaded from the iPhone app store and only have the ones I found through iTunes but it still takes a $*&# long time to sync becauase it's "backing up".
    Any thoughts?
    Is a Restore in order?
    Thanks.

You can disable backups in terminal. The command is:

I think you can work out for yourself how to re-enable them.
    how do you enter terminal?
also to re-enable: "com.apple.itunes DeviceBackupsEnabled -bool YES"?
    or just erase?

  • ITunes 10.6 takes a long time to sync iPhone 4 iOS 5.1

Yesterday I had to have my phone replaced and I went through all the fun stuff of restoring my phone.  Got all that done, no problem.
I did however discover one problem when it came to syncing my phone.  I also sync over WiFi.
In iTunes 10.6 (latest version, no beta), it will get to the end (step 5 of 5) and just sit there, telling me "Syncing Tones or Syncing Data to iPhone - Waiting for items to sync"  It will sit there for a very long time, I don't know how long, because I will cancel the sync or walk away with my phone.
I know for the 'Tones' error, it will just sit there, doing whatever, and I only have 1 tone, and it's already on the phone.
Looking for any advice on how I can get this issue resolved.

Start by making sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
If that doesn't do it, you may be seeing something like what is described in this Apple article -> Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
If it's what you're seeing, you can try resetting Winsock as a temporary fix or folllow along with the article.
    1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
    2. Enter the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note:  If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

  • IPod Touch 16Gb takes an Extraordinary long time to sync

    Hi All
I'm hoping that someone can offer an insight to why my iPod Touch is taking so long to sync.
It started happening a several months ago. It takes around 6-8 minutes to sync and I don't have a lot of things on it.
I have iTunes 9.2.0.61, and iOS 4.0 on iPod Touch. It didn't used to that long to sync, so I reset it to factory default condition and then reloaded the software, when I tried again it was the same.
I have recently changed the software to iOS 4, and updated iTunes but that makes no difference. I have also changed the USB port and cable.
I have iPad and an 80Gb Classic iPod and neither of these take a significant amount of time to sync and are very fast in the order of seconds. (syncing the exact same content)
I have my content stored on a Network Attached storage drive, and when iPod Touch is connected the network activity to the disk is high, but seeing as iPad and iPod Classic collect the same content from the same place its not the network slowing it down.
It would appear its resyncing everything every time.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to help?
    Thanks
    Shunts...

I have the exact same problem. It's beyond ridiculous. I think things actually worked better when I was using 32-bit Vista. Now I'm on 64-bit Windows.
I think Apple just doesn't put the right resources behind Windows apps. It also seems that it's not optimized for multiple processors. Not only does it take forever, but iTunes completely freezes during the process, as if they aren't intermittently giving control back to the UI.

  • Can the time be synced with computer time?

Can the time of a recorded track be time stamped and displayed to match the time of the host computer?  I would like my recordings to start at 03:20:21 PM as if I am doing an afternoon session instead of the default 00:00:000.  I do multiple recordings quickly and can get lost if I am not saving as I go.

If you go to file info and the Broadcast Wave tab and enable the Include BWF data when saving to .wav the date and startime will be added when you save the file. The date and time is also automatically added to the file header anyway when saving the wav.

  • Long Time to Sync Music (Media Player, with files on network drive)

    Hello there,
I've set up my fab new Curve 8520 with the new version of Desktop Software. Sync is working fine for Outlook organizier information.
I use Media Player to manage my music. The library is on my PC, but the mp3 files themselves are on a network drive (mapped as a drive letter).
The music sync does work, but it takes ages for it to (1) show the songs / albums / playlists everytime you click the music button (20-30 minutes) and (2) it also takes a similar length of time to sync (even if you only sync one song!)
So it works, but it is not really usable. It seems to me that the Desktop Software is checking every file in the library every time I enter the music button, which is overkill.
Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks.

I think I solved the problem. I just had to switch the location of of the itunes library from the default to the network drive and it found the files. Funny how itunes could find the library to play songs but the ipod couldn't when syncing.

  • Mobile Accounts take a long time to sync at startup

I want to use mobile accounts as a way to authenticate to the network. I also want to sync some of these users to their home directories located on the server, but I want them to be able to log into any computer relatively fast. I have disabled syncing at login and logout and have the accounts only syncing in the background, but when the user first logs into a computer they haven't used yet, the account syncs at login. The syncing time is very long. Is there anyway to make this time shorter so login is almost instant?

  • Iphone takes LONG time to sync with iTunes?

    Hi all,
I have and Iphone 3G with 8GB pretty much stuffed, I have only 200MB free and 1000 audio, 50 podcast video, 60 photo and TONS of apps..
I just check how long it would take to sync with my PC yeasterday... 10 hours... is that normal for a backup and sync? how can I speed up the process?
    thanks

I'm having the same problem. It's definitely the backup portion. I located my backup folder, and it had over 20k files! I tried deleting the folder and backing up again, and have yet to complete a full backup (they're just too long - I'm constantly having to stop the process to take the phone with me). The latest one was 2 hours and only half done (with 8k files in the folder). I did have facebook and linkedin on the phone, so I've removed those and restarted the backup. It doesn't seem much different so far, but I think I may leave it overnight to see what happens. Could it be that the files (like caches or whatever) used by facebook and linkedin are still on the iphone even w/o the apps? How can I clean up my iphone w/o resetting it completely (I don't want to lose the data on there and I don't currently have a complete backup - though maybe after tonight I will).
Any other apps you know of that have this issue? I can't believe Apple just lets this type of sloppy file management occur.

  • Taking a long time to sync

iPod 80 GB taking forever to sync with iTunes library. Using OS X 10.7.

I assume iTunes is up to date (10.7 is the latest version at the time of this writing).
Are you plugging the iPod into a USB port located directly on the iMac versus via a USB hub? Perhaps it would help to try another USB cable as well to make sure the current one isn't faulty or damaged.

  • Long time to sync

Why does it take like an hour to sync my iphone3g? even if i only updated one song? Does it have to take so long? this is very inconvenient...

I discovered this web page that gives the location of the backup files: http://osxdaily.com/2009/09/11/iphone-backup-location/
I took at look at my list of files - one of the backup folders (I have 3 for some reason) had over 20,000 files!! I deleted the folder to get itunes to create a new one. It's currently backing up - it's about 2/5 done and at 1700 files now. What's weird though is that i looked at some of the files' thumbnails, and many of them I don't recognize. Some of them though are files I thought I deleted in the past. It seems as if iTunes/iphone is keeping and backing up every single file ever on the phone, which would be ridiculous! I don't know for sure if this is the case, but 20,000 files is a huge number.
I'm tempted to reset the phone to its original state, but I don't want to lose all my applications' data. And I don't think I can restore from the backup, since the backup seems to be the problem in the first place.
I really hope Apple looks into this - anyone know how/where I can report this issue to them?

  • Taking a very long time to sync

Somewhere  in the span of 48 hours I lost all contents of my Ipod. I restored it to factory settings updated iTunes to the newest version and set about restoring the files. That was 5 hours ago. How long should this be taking?

I'm having the "old version of appointments" problem you speak of. I never had a problem until 10.5.5 and now suddenly I have old appointments popping up all over the place, and I can't remember which ones are the "good" ones and which are the old ones! This is happening on calendars that are being published. It almost looks like it's trying to subscribe to an old calendar and publish the new ones. I hope there is a fix soon though because I'm bound to mess up an appointment because of it!

  • Time Machine backups taking extremely long time and disrupting other computing activity

I have an iMac running the latest version of Lion (10.7.4) and which I have upgraded to a one terabyte hard drive and full memory capability. I back up to a My Book 2 terabyte external hard drive using Time Machine. My iMac is often very sticky, though I've done most of the diagnostics I know of and preferences etc. are seemingly all OK and fcuk -fs gives a positive result! The Mac is often hard to wake from sleep and in particular seems to spend a lot of time backing up very-very slowly, with the result that it frustratingly seems to be backing up most of the time with the consequent effercts on using other programmes. Also the whole thing seems to grind to a halt after a hard days work with quite a few applications open. I'm wondering what can be causing this and what I can do to overcome this very frustrating and debilitating problem?

    Hi
I would try the following for now and I am sorry, yes you were clear that it's an external drive.
    Rebuild Spotlight
-Rebuild the spotlight index as per http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409 as a first step. Spotlight indexes play a role in healthy backups so this is why this could be a good thing to do.
    - When conducting the next backup, after the spotlight re-index, consider connecting to your mac only the external hard drive and disconnect all other devices to rule out other devices affecting things. I suggest connecting devices back one at a time followed by a triggered backup until the issue fails to reproduce itself.
    General Performance Issues
    - Some performance issues can also be cured through an SMC reset. This article can help in this regard, note that the steps differ depending on the model mac you use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
--In terms of the mac's general sluggishness
    - SMC can help
    - open Activity Monitor and check to see if CPU usage is abnormally high or any particular process is consuming an elevated amount of CPU cycles, see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5146
    Check External HD (backup drive)
    - If you've run disk utility and have done a repair permissions and repair disk as per user "Radiation Mac" then there is no point doing it again but this should just be a reminder incase you missed it.
    -- on a related note to disk utility try;
    1) Mount your external hard drive.
    2) In Disk Utility, locate your external backup drive. Your backup drive should mount in the Disk Utility sidebar when attached to your Mac.
    3) Select your external backup drive.
    4) Click Repair.
Test Time Machine backups against a different drive
--If you have a spare hard drive or even a small USB stick, you could back up only a very small amount of data to this second hard drive or USB stick as a test. This article outlines how to exclude from backups, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
    Further Ideas
Seeing the logs would be useful if the issue persists. There maybe a reason for the issue but it appears only in the logs which we may eventually need.
    I almost forgot
-make sure everything is uptodate with Apple software/firmware and any firmware for your drive if applicable.
If anything is unclear, feel free to let me know, I will provide more details.

  • FIM Reporting initial sync running long time

We have installed FIM Reporting last month , afterwards our FIM reporting initial sync powershell script is running from last month to Sync FIM data with SCSM server , but still only half data is synced with SCSM server ,

Please try Resume-FIMReportingInitialSync instead of starting initial sync once again.
Sadly Initial Sync is very long and even on test environments it can take a long time.
