Longer use of Developer Sneak Preview

Hi, I recently downloaded and installed the Dev Sneak Preview of the following products:
-WAS 640 SP7
-EP6.0 SP6
-KM 6.0 SP6
I am using this installation for Demo only.  Base on the license agreement, it doesn't seem like I can extend the use past the 90 days evaluation period.  Can soneone confirm that for me?  I wonder if I can apply for a permanent license for the sneak preview installation?
Thanks
Ben Trinh

I know this is a very old post, but just in case anyone else comes across this, the answer is that the license can be extended at 90 day intervals.
Go to http://www.sap.com/platform/netweaver/minisap.epx to get a new license sent to you.

  • PDK for EP Sneak Preview SP4

    Hi.
I installed EP Sneak Preview SP4 and I want to use PDK.
    - Which version of PDK can I use for EP Sneak Preview SP4 ?
    ( PDK 6.0 SP3 is OK ? )
    - Where can I get PDK eclipse plugin for EP Sneak Preview SP4 ? (I found  PDK eclipse plugin SP2. Is it works for EP Sneak Preview SP4 ? )
    Regards,
    Arnold.

    hi,
you can deploy the pdk60.3 via sdm to your sneak preview.
the eclipse-plugin is then downloadable in the portal in menu Java Development / Tools / Downloads.
but if you use the netweaver developer studio, there's no need to download the plug-in, since it's already in the nds implemented. you'll only need the plugin for an eclipse (2.x) installation (or eclipse base, like ibm websphere studio).

  • EP Sneak Preview - Moving from Portal Authentication to LDAP

Has anyone used the EP sneak preview, configuring first against portal authentication alone and then moving users to LDAP and leaving just the roles in the portal db, without having disaster strike and have to reinstall, etc.?
    Thanks in advance.

    hi,
according to the Quick Install Guide
    <i>(url: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/Quick%20Installation%20Guide%20for%20SAP%20NetWeaver%20EP%20on%20MaxDB,%20Developer%20Edition%20Sneak%20Preview.htm)</i>
first i installed the latest JDK, which is 1.4.2_08
manually i set the following environment variables (like i read a few threads before):
    CLASSPATH =
    %JAVA_HOME%lib;%JAVA_HOME%jrelib;
    JAVA_HOME = C:j2sdk1.4.2_08
    Path = %JAVA_HOME%bin;c:j2sdk1.4.2_08bin;c:j2sdk1.4.2_08jrebin;...
when clicking sapinst.exe it says: <i>latest JRE 1.4.2 with latest Patch level could not be found.</i>
then i checked startinstgui.bat and get the following error:
the system cannot find the path.
Starting SAPinst GUI with local Java Runtime
Java Runtime found in JAVA_HOME environment variable
      Java path: C:j2sdk1.4.2_08binjava.exe
a logon screen appears for sagui installation, which wants to logon to localhost and port 21212. this does not work as i have no webserver running...
i am riding xp - maybe the whole thing really works only on win2000 or win server 2003?
    any comments apreciated.

  • SAP Press Sneak Preview errors with EJB

I am using the WAS Sneak Preview that came with the SAP PRESS Programming with Java and I have been trying to create a test entity bean which I create from a JSP. I have basically made it mirror with one of the examples in the book albeit changing some of the names, but I seem to not be able to do it. This is the exception I am getting.
com.sap.engine.services.ejb.exceptions.BaseEJBException: Transaction system failure in method com.sap.demo.TestLocalHomeImpl0.create().
So I tried changing the "container transaction" to Not supported, but that only got me:
    com.sap.engine.services.ejb.exceptions.BaseEJBException: Exception in method com.sap.demo.TestLocalHomeImpl0.create().
Before I go posting all my code, has anyone else run into a similiar error, or are there certain things to chase down first in order to find the culprit?

  • Does the EP Sneak Preview support LDAP authentication?

When using the EP Sneak Preview is LDAP authentication supported or is only Portal Authentication supported?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Neil and welcome on SDN,
YES! you can configure EP Sneak Preview with LDAP. Check the documentation on help.sap.com for how to do this.
    Hope this helps,

  • How do i use r/3 webservice with sneak preview (7.0.9) of developer studio.

    Hi,
I am having a problem importing an r/3 webservice using adaptive rfc in the sneak preview edition of java NW2004s (7.0.9).
the webservice requries http authentication to get the wsdl file. so i have to use webservice destinations when creating my adaptive rfc model (to get the username and password boxes on the URL )
So the steps i take are :-
    1. New Model
    2. import adaptive webservice model
    3. enter model name and package
    4. local file system or url
    5. Use destinations for metadata and execution & enter web service destinations (in my case 'meta' and 'exec')
    6. enter wsdl location (http://-hostname-/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/Z_DSKTP_USR?sap-client=200&wsdl=1.1&mode=sap_wsdl)
    7. enter username and password. & click next
... at this point i get 'Error loading the WSDL file'. the log shows that this due to a 401(unauthorized) error.
when i follow the same steps in 6.0.19IDE  (instead of 7.0.9 IDE) it works fine.
i used a packet sniffer (ethereal) to record the network traffic and can see the Authorization header is not sent from the 7.0.9 IDE  but is sent in the 6.0.19 IDE .
so i think this is a bug in the sneak preview version of the 7.0 IDE. and i am just wondering what other people think? has anyone else seen this? anyone know of a patch or work around? or seen any sap notes about it?
i am just using this to evaluate webservices and am not really worried about authentication anyway so i guess the other option is to try to make r/3 not use http authentication for the webservice app? does anyone know how to do this?
    any help greatly appreciated.
    regards,
    rob munro.

Sorry, but i do not understand this post at all... Can anyone explain it to me? Is he saying my IDE is running on something other than Unicode?
PS: I tried one of the Scanner constructors that takes a charset parameter. That fixed the odd output! However, every Chinese character has been replaced with a question mark. (It was a series of weird characters before i used the constructor with a charset parameter.)

When installating the Comp 4 GUI make sure you have selected the BI 7.00 Add-on. There you will also find BW 3.5. For the time being just select BI 7.00 Add-on. The Patch will only update the files if they are already exisiting (installed).

Scanning in Mavericks? I can no longer use the scanning function in my HP Officejet 4500.
HP says to go through Preview, Image Capture, or Print/Scan in System Prefs.
Still doesn't work. Any ideas/similar experiences?

Sure it is, yet it's called HP LaserJet Professional M1210nf MFP Series *
Today, I followed your other advice, and deleted the printer, deleted the /Library/Printer/hp folder, downloaded the entire set of driver, re-installed the printer twice, once with the driver, once with Bonjour.
The Bonjour Printer has the scan option active, but it is doesn't work (refer to above.), it is called M1217nfw
The Apple Driver Printer doesn't show the scan option at all, it is called M1217nf (as on the http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP list.) This model number doesn't exist, as far as I can tell.
Still, everything works perfectly in Snow Leopard, for a MF printer that has been manufactured years after Snow Leopard was released.
Why going up in software version means going backwards in compatiblity for brand new product is really the question that puzzles me here.

can i use windows 10 technical preview for commercial purpose like developing projects in visual studio

No, Windows 10 Technical Preview is for testing and evaluation only , in addition it is not the final version of Windows and it is strongly recommended to use it for testing
    not production.

  • How to use JCo Provider Service w/Sneak Preview and Test Drive

I have both SAP Web AS Sneak Preview (6.40) and MiniWas 6.20 Test Drive installed on a single system.  I have implemented a Java server program which can be RFC called from an ABAP program using JCO.
The only disadvantage to this process is that I must manually run the server program each time I bring up the J2EE system.
I would like to set things up so that when I start the WebAS 6.40 J2EE system, the server function can be automatically registered (if I'm using the correct terminology - not at all sure about that...).  It looks to me that I should be able to use JCo Provider Service to do what I want to do, but I don't know how to do any of the session bean creation and I esp. can't seem to find out how to run the  J2EE Visual Administrator, which the documentation I've found leads me to believe needs to be used.
Is there a tutorial, or example, that will lead me through this entire process?  I have the ABAP calling program working OK, and I have the Java JCo server program working ok - I just want to create something in Java that will operate like a good old C Language function installed as an RFM.
Can anyone help? Is it possible?

    Stefan:
Well, I guess I'm stuck at the first step.
As I understand it, I have to use the Visual Administrtor to register the Web AS 6.40 Sneak Preview system as an RFC destination.  When I bring up the Visual Administrator, it has essentially two tabs showing: Dispatcher and Server.  It's inviting me to define a connection and Login.  So, Q1: Is it inviting me to login to the J2EE or the Web AS?  Either way, I am never able to login - I get this error:
    com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot create new RemoteLoginContext
I used all of the NetWeaver sneak preview defaults when installing, and I recorded these:
    Type               Account
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/J2EAdm
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/SAPServiceJ2E
    DB User            SAPJ2EDB
    J2EE Engine User   Administrator
    J2EE Engine User   Guest
Q2:  Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do with the Sneak Preview system?
Or am I trying to connect and logon to the Web AS 6.20 Test Drive (I don't think so...)?  I used the defaults when installing the Test Drive, and have these users:
    BCUSER
    DDIC
Is it one of these I should be logging onto?
Also, Visual Administrator wants a port specified on the J2EE Engine connection paramters - what port should I be specifiying?
Can you get me past this dilemma, Stefan?  Thanks...

Is your printer selected? <br />
Is '''Print to File''' selected, where the web page is being printed to a file and not being sent to your printer?

  • Patching Sneak Preview Developer Studio not possible?? (Note: 668887)

    Hi,
Due to problems with Adobe Document Services (I always get a java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out exception that I can't solve) I thought about patching from SP11 to SP13.
I work with the Sneak Preview edition. The SAP note 668887 says that you should not patch the SAP NDS (Preview).
    Did anyone try anyway?
    Kind regards,
    Tobias

Currently latest versions of NWDS SP13 and SP14 are available in http://service.sap.com  just uninstall sneak preview sp11 and install freshly install SP13 or 14, instead of applying patches it saves your time.

  • Installation SAP Sneak Preview 7.0 EhP1 fails.

    Hi all,
I want to install SAP Sneak Preview 7.0 EhP1, with the new WD4A features. I already had one installation that failed. Therefore, the official uninstall was not yet present in c:\sap\nsp\uninstall. So I had to delete all files and folders manually. I also used the registry cleaning tool, checked the host file and services file. But still, when trying to (re)install it, on the first check of the installation wizard, I keeps giving me the error, that there is already an NSP system running /installed, which in fact is not (no longer) true. What else should I do to overcome this error?
    Kind regards,
    Micky.
BTW. I already posted this question on other forum, but still no replies. Hope I have better luck here.

This is not an appropriate forum for the posting of questions about the Sneak Preview installation.  There is a dedicated forum for such questions.
