Look and feel of self-service pages under Oracle Applications Manager (OAM)

Hi All,
After applying patches for upgrading the HRMS module from 12.1.3 to 12.1.5, look and feel of self-service pages under Oracle Applications Manager (OAM) changed means Buttons not appearing in proper manner. and look of pages are not in proper manner. This is happening for OAM self-service pages only.
Current HRMS patchset level : r12.hr_pf.b.delta.5
OS : RHEL 5.3 x86_64
Any idea please....
Thanks inadvance,
Regards,
900076.

You need to ask your DBA to delete the cached stylesheets in /OA_HTML/cabo/styles/cache/...
You will also need to delete your temporary internet files.
Once both and deleted, re-access the page and you will see the updated stylesheets.
(Note: individual users may need to delete their temporary internet files too else they will see an old version cached on their computer)
Explanation: In new releases Oracle may introduce new additional OAF components. Each OAF component is assigned a shortcode/id by browsers in alphabetical order and a stylesheet generated.
If a new item is introduced, the shortcode/ids will change. However if an old version of the stylesheet still exists it will apply the wrong style to the wrong component.

  • Location update provision on self service page

As per new business requirement we have to provide update Location feature to Employees and Managers on Self Service pages.
    Navigation are:
VAL Employee Self-Service > Employment Details
VAL Manager Self Service > View My Team
Could you please advise what would be the best approach for providing this update feature.Does Oracle provide any option for customizing OA framework pages as we have CUSTOM.PLL for cutomizing oracle forms ?
As we are unable to find any guide/turtorials for customizing Oracle self service pages.
We are planning to add a new function for update location to the Employee/Manager Self Service responsibilities. Please suggest if we can go ahead with this or is there a better option? Please advise!

Oracle deliver a 'Change Location' self-service function out-of-the-box. Is that something you've looked at?
Check out the Deploy Self-Service Capability Guide, Part No. E13507-04, currently available here:

  • Customised look and feel for B2B/B2C web shop.

    Dear experts,
I would like to find out if there is an admin page for SAP E-commerce to customise the look and feel of the webshop?
    Thanks.
    Wein

    Hi Wein,
To change Look and Feel for Web shop is depends on scenario of eCommerce application i.e. B2B or B2C. B2B has different structure than B2C.
Web Channel application comes in SAP standard with SAP look and Feel. You have to change look and feel as per client requirement.
To change look and feel of Both B2B/B2C scenario you have to deal with files like CSS, JSP, Properties, XLF and some time you have to add your custom JAVA, JSP, CSS, Properties files etc...
To change standard SAP logo youhave to make change in CSS files. Also you have to consider Browser type while changing look and feel because to display your B2B/B2C application correctly in different browser you have to make changes in different CSS.
You will get better idea with example how to change look and feel in "Dev & Ext. Guide" for Web Shop. You will get this from Service Market place.

  • Uniform Look and Feel

Can anybody please give me hint on how to build pages like that of sites http://www.tomatoland.com and http://www.kids123.com , ie same look and feel in all the pages. One thing that i have tried is creating Unstructured UI templates and using it in portal pages. Then the problem is that i am not able to use HTML files inside content area as portlets so that i can include it in the portal pages. Please give a hint or link for any tutorial for this.
    Regards
    Ziyad

ORACLE have told us the sites you refer to have been built with heavy ORACLE involvement. They use images and custom code to make the sites look nice and show off the product.
They are not sites any sensible site manager would build because they will be difficult to maintain.

If there should be any questions, comments, etc on this weblog, please post it here, so that it is easier to handle the traffic. We are also interested to see if anyone does actually use the tool.

    Hiya,
I saw this blog posted a while back and have only now had a chance to use it - very cool work there Brian and Steffan!
The only thing is I'm having what looks like the same problem as Maximilian!
    We're on 620 sp45.
Everything installed fine, I tweaked the mime version code for 620 (me->ifur_d2_system~css_version) and the left hand side of the screen, the editor itself, looks and works fine - but the preview screen doesn't work, the BSP is displayed with no theme at all.
I opened the BSP in a new page with default theme and set the theme manually with paramters and this doesn't work either.
    i.e.
    http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/it05/entrypoint.htm?sap-themeRoot=%2fsap%2fpublic%2fbc%2fur%2fdesign2002%2fthemes%2falfs1000202FFE4C43B2D1B7D674EDAA520565656
But if I try with an SAP standard theme everything works fine and the new theme is picked up correctly
    i.e.
    http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/it05/entrypoint.htm?sap-themeRoot=%2fsap%2fpublic%2fbc%2fur%2fdesign2002%2fthemes%2f~sap_standard
I've checked the URL encoding (using program BSP_DECODE_URL) and with the alfs theme this looks fine.
In the source code the stylesheets are referenced using the correct themeRoot i.e.
    <link id="urstyle" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/sap/public/bc/ur/design2002/themes/alfs1000202FFE4C43B2D1B7D674EDAA520565656/ur/ur_ie6.css">
When I set a break point in the ALFS HTTP handler this is not picked up.
BUT the one really puzzling thing about all this is that whilst I've been trying to fix this and work out what is going wrong I've made small changes to the ALFS class, i.e. to change the default BSP application used in the editor, and sometimes after generating the class code, refereshing both browser and system caches, everything worked fine - even the debugging of the HTTP handler - for some generated themes - and then stopped working again!
Now I know how this reads - and I've worked with enough users in my time to know you must be thinking - well she must have changed something! But I really can't work out what it could have been.
I've been round and round trying to reproduce what ever it was to get this working.
I've tried all the following in various combinations:
    - restarting ICM
    - removing ALFS HTTP handler from ICF service
    - starting with a completely new copy of the class
    - adding alert statements to the ALFS editor page to track themeRoot values
    - changing the code relating to me->ifur_d2_systemcss_version and me->ifur_d2_systemur_version so that there is a version number (tried 'urversion=DAT<date>' and plain 'DAT<date>'), changed the code so there is no version number used at all.
    - even (don't laugh!) put the ALFS HTTP handler on node SAP/BS/BSP just to make sure the external debugger was still working (it was). At this point I could see each time it was called, and since each call did not have the alfs string in it, all the internal class processing was correctly skipped.
All of the above in combination with cache refreshing on both server and brower side and logging on/off.... and still feel no closer to resolving this.
From what I understand, the ALFS HTTP handler is called everytime a MIME or theme object is requested from the theme root - as this is the only time that a request would pass via SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR. And I understand that if the requested object is already cached, there will be no request passing via this node, so the ALFS HTTP handler won't be called - but think that there must be some important point relating to caching that I must have missed ...
So that's my first question... help!
Also, Brian, what you have mentioned before, this patch you have to take a theme, patch it with ALFS then import it into the theme editor - this sounds like exactly what we need to do ... I couldn't see any weblogs relating to this - so could you point me in the right direction??
We have no portal so I'll be trying the standalong theme editor plug in for Eclipse.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cathy

  • I want to restore the look and feel of Firefox 3.6 etc with large icons for last page next page reread and home page located off the toolbar in the upper left like 3.6

I want 4.0 to look like 3.6 with large separate icons for last page, next page, reread current page and go to home page, in lieu of the little icons to the right of the
default navigation toolbar. I tried setting up a separate toolbar but it never reappeared. There should be a way to just restore 3.6 look and feel. Otherwise I will go back to 3.6.

You can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6

For a quick result, you can use Portal Templates with Portal Styles
For a better but slower result, you can write HTML templates (page skins), with your own CSS.
In both cases, you assign the template to the page. You can also use Portal Templates to mantain the structure of the pages, and Page Skins to change the look.

  • Setting defaut look and feel under Gnome generates errors.

We are migrating some of our developer machines to linux, and in the process we are testing in house applications to ensure that in program file locations are correct and that everything just works. Each of our applications set the default look and feel at startup, which hasn't been a problem until now. Errors are being generated, despite no apparent affect on the application or how the application looks. Commenting out the the line of code that sets default look and feel result in an application that looks exactly the same, but with no errors. Keeping the line commented isn't an option, since the applications look horrendous in a Windows environment w/o the Windows L&F.
My question is: Since these errors have no apparent affect on the application, do we need to worry about them? Can they be safely ignored?
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());will generate errors during application lifetime, a snippet of the errors:
(<unknown>:16565): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkButton to a GtkComboBoxEntry (need an instance of GtkEntry or of a subclass)

  • SSHR reskin AKA 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel...

There was a presentation at the OHUG 2011 Conference titled 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel of Oracle HR Self Service'. It presented a method of 're-skinning' SSHR to present a different UI to the user.
Looking for anyone out there that has attempted to apply this to their Oracle HRSS pages. I know this company has developed (is developing?) a product based on this approach. I want to see if anyone has done it on their own and would be willing to share some details.
Follow-up question. Has anyone availed themselves of the bespoke UI Development based on this approach from Applaud Solutions (as mentioned on their website), and care to comment on your experience?

Any update on this please? Even we are looking for some pointers in this area.

  • ?Embedding custom region as an extension to seeded self-service page.

    Hello Tapash/All,
I am extending one of the self service pages to add extra fields on the page to capture information.
This is what I am planning to do based on the comments (from Tapash) that I got from my previous post.
    1. Create a custom table with additional columns with the primary key column that I need to capture.
    2. Create an EO, VO (based on the custom table) and AM.
    3. Create a Region RN.xml (advanced table) for the additional fields (for INSERT, UPDATE and DISPLAY on Query)
    4. Create a Controller CO on the Region (code to commit the trx in AMImpl)
    5. Attach this RN.xml to the seeded page via personalization.
    My question is:
Where and how will the entered data on the new region get inserted/updated into the custom table ? ( Since, I can't create an **Apply/Submit** button separately for the new region....because there is an ***Apply/Submit*** button already exists on that page to process the seeded data.)
Should I extend the Page controller to invoke the apply method from the AMImpl ?Please let me know and Thanks for all the help.

  • Themed look and feel broken in sub-site

We have several site collections in a farm using SP2013 + SP1 under a common web application that use a custom theme for the look and feel. After upgrading to SP2013 December 2014 CU, one of the site collections' custom theme is broken. Furthermore,
the same site collection cannot use most of the OOTB themes. I have only successfully gotten the theme "Office" to work correctly. (I have not tested all the OOTB theme choices)
Immediately after the CU was applied the CSS and JS on this site collection was not working. After changing the theme to "Office" I was able to test out other troubleshooting options. If I select another theme choice, the "try it out"
page returns with an error "A cobalt error was thrown." This is not a helpful error for me and I could not find much on the internet regarding it. Another error I have received was "file not found", or yet another error "The
    URL
    '_catalogs/theme/Themed/4F147962/likefull.11x11x32-F47391E9.themedpng' is
invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file
or folder that is not in the current Web." I have not been able to fix the issue.
I have found that under 'Site Settings' -> 'Web Designer Galleries' -> 'Themes' -> 'Themed' is a library of folders. My thought is that these folders are created dynamically when a new theme is applied. I have several folders, but all are empty
except one. I am now trying to determine why these folders are empty.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013(April 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013), then check whether the issue still exists or not.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2015/04/14/april-2015-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
In my test environment, the 'Themed' all folders are not empty.

  • Is a JSP Tag Library providing Oracle Financial look and feel available

We are going to use Oracle Financial as part of our future application.
That is why other parts of it (which we plan to develop using JDeveloper)

The UIX framework implements the Oracle "Browser Look And Feel" (BLAF) that our Oracle Applications self-service applications use.
