Looking for 7447A/7448 firmware updater

I'm about to upgrade my powermac g4 with a third party dual processor but mislaid the vendor's firmware update install CD. Can't find a copy on the vendor's website. Where else might a downloadable copy be located?

Try the card manufacturer's web site. Some sites are hard to find, some companies have gone bust and the support files are elsewhere. You need not be shy about posting the brand names of things, as long as you don't blatantly slander them in the same sentence.
If all else fails, remember that the Vendor just charged you a lot of money for that processor. If you can't use it, you will have to send it back to them. Let them know that and you will be amazed how fast they find that software you need.

  • HT1237 Searching for an EFI Firmware update to enable Lion Internet Recovery on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)

    Hi All,
My Mid-2010 Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch started having random kernel panics lately (more than 1 month of random kernel panics now), usually associated with request such as "open new tab in Safari" etc.
Since I installed 2x4GB RAM modules from Crucial when I bought my MBP (they are +- 2 years old now) and also exchanged my DVD-drive for an extra SSD that now runs the system (fully updated 10.7.4) I have a feeling that those kernel panics might be HW related.
I wanted to run Apple Hardware Test but found out that it is no longer supported on Lion. Since I don't have any optical drive to install AHT from (also I don't have the CDs with me atm), I found out that I can install an EFI Firmware update that enables internet-based (?) AHT.
At http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4904# , the link from MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) links to MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.6 which is for Early 2010 models only and doesn't allow me to run the installation process. I'm looking for an EFI update to enable Apple Hardware Test on my Mid-2010 Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch.
Is there an update that can do this? Is there a wrong hyperlink on Apple page or am I searching for a wrong update?
Also, even though this should probably be in a separate topic, can anyone please point me to the right direction for a good Apple Kernel Panic how-to-read-those topic?
Thank you very much in advance.

    Hey Cris from London,
I would try out the recommended steps in the following link:

  • A suggestion for next 5800XM firmware update

I hear all the time people wants widgets on their homescreen. i'm not sure if this the waht i really miss there.
instead i will be much more happy if i could have the contact bar above (and more than 4 contacts, at least 6-7 which we could roll left/right), and under this bar should be the application bar (and again, more than 4, which we could roll).
under both should be the google search (which is great), and the tasks/notes, which is my most important feature on the phone.
and how it all should work?
i want to see a full desktop when i start my phone, and when i choose my contact the other tasks/apps dissappear from the screen (or being transparent).
i don't understand why i have to choose between contacts and apps, and most of the time they both don't take advantage 5800's hugh screen (by leaving large spaces unused).
but if we could see a Facebook widget or a normal weather widget on the next firmware update, it could be nice (but less necessary) ...
    good luck!
    Lior R.

that is a nice idea you have there, but one must think about how practical all these changes and additions will be. if one must have, lets say 6 contact icons next to each other in one row, the icons would have to be small in order for them to fit in nicely. i do notice that the way you have imagined the new home screen is much like the old S60 3rd edition, but do note that the 3rd edition was not touch screen. there are many people who wish different things for certain handsets, mine would be that the 5800XM should have a more windows vista feel to it, with option lists and screen appearing and dissapearing into the screen as though it was another layer on top of the previous page.
you must also remember that the S60 5th edition on the 5800XM is the a new version of the software, being added on the first Nokia touchscreen smart phone, so there are still many things Nokia has to learn from the 5800XM "test" phone.
hopefully our ideas will be seen in the new future.
    Kind regards,
    Memphis

  • Fix for Thunderbolt OTA firmware update , when receiving an error message

Hi, my name is Lou, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a solution or fix for Thunderbolt users that are unable to get their firmware update OTA..
For the last 2 weeks, when i got word that the (OTA) Over The Air firmware update should be coming out, i started going on my phones setting to check for new updates and started to receive an Error message, stating to check back when service was available, well Verizons attempt at fixing the issue was to to a hard factory reset, which didn't work, they also had me go to the local Verizon Wireless store and switch out my SIM card, and that didnt work, and they also tried Forcing the update to y phone, and again No resolve.. There last solution was to send me a refurbished phone, which I am strongly against, cuz I dont want a used piece of equipment, ... well anyways, I found the solution for the fix of getting the update downloaded to your phone, from www.thunderboltforums.com ,
You first need to downlaod an app from the market titled LTE On/Off app, install it. Once installed, I turned of my WiFi on the phone, then opened the LTE On/Off app, and rememer the original setting that its on, bcuz thats the setting u will have to set it at, when your update begins...   Select the CDMA mode, not the CDMA(PRL) mode...  then exit the app.... By selecting the CDMA mode only, this should make your either 3G or 4G signal switch to a 1X symbol.. then, i restarted my phone, .... i dont think restarting is necessary, but i did it anyways... when it restarted, the signal setting was still at 1X, then I went to setting, aSoftware Update, then Check Now, and within a minute or so, the Download option appeared.  once I started the downlaod, I let about a minute pass by, then I went and opened one last time, the LTE On/Off app, and switched the setting to its default setting, and mine was the 4G option and the 4G signal kicked in, and the 78Mb download completed within 3 minutes...  hopes this helps... It helped me...

I could be wrong but I believe this has been covered but thanks for sharing still...

  • Looking for a way to update UITableView

    Hello Everyone:
I've got a situation where I'm banging my head trying to figure out and could use some ideas....
I have a UITableView where I made my own custom class for the tablecells. This table is populated by a sqlite table. Along with some other stuff, each tablecell has a small red "X" graphic where when the user presses it, I delete the item from the sqlite table, and insert it into another table (like a "deleted" table).
When I click the graphic, the deletion from the one table and the insertion into the other work just fine. The problem comes in with the updating of the UITableView and removing the row.
I capture the touch event in the custom cell class, and perform the sql tasks, which are working fine. However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to reload the data into the table. Setting the setNeedsDisplay does not fire any event that I know of, and my main UITableView is declared in my rootviewcontroller so I do not have access to it. I'm hoping there's some kind of event I can trigger to reload the data into the UITableView.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

You'll have to get a reference to the table and call reloadData or create a protocol that is implemented by the rootviewcontroller and use that to call a method in the protocol.

  • ITunes 5 looks for movie data when updating iPod...

I'm experiencing a very annoying problem in iTunes 5. When I plug in my iPod (4G) the songs are updated as they should, but then a message pops up saying something like this:
"Searching for movie data in movie archive "the name of the archive"
    Then it says:
"The archive couldn't be found. Movie can't be played without the right archive"
And then you'll have to click "search" or "cancel". That is very annoying.
Why is iTunes suddenly searching for movies to play, when I'm updating my iPod?
How can I make it stop?

  • Looking for summary of OS updates - broad view

    To One and All
In one of rainforest's threads, I wondered if someone had a summary of OS changes over the years. Then I remembered some wall charts on an Apple dealer service center wall.
Does someone have access to some of those charts and, is there a Knowledge Base article that summarizes those changes? This all started with Grant's comment about journaling drives as being a new feature with 10.3.
Some changes set new benchmarks for hardware and software and serve as a guide for optimizing older equipment.
    Thanx,

    Thanx, Allan
I had forgotten that I took the 54 minutes one night to download Mactracker. Went to bed and let dial-up do its thing. I just un-stuffed it to use. It is far more current than my dated Mac Appraiser software and Mac Guru that is limited in scope.
Usually, if I want to know which ports a cpu had I just go to a stack and look.
When I was helping at the store, I had a stack of dead macs as a reference. One time a lady walked in with a dead 17' monitor. I asked which form factor - model, actually. She said the bottom one on the stack. It was a 6100. I said "dead battery, we are out, $10 at Radio Shack, would you like me to show you how to change the battery?" She had not finished crossing the room and I had not yet set the monitor on the counter. People do not remember the model of their machine but they can pick one out of a pile!
Mactracker is like drinking from a fire hose. Plenty of information, now to refine my quest. Thinking of GURU and how it focuses on RAM information - still not in chart form - I would love to find a ready reference that follows a theme like SCSI manager or PPP to Open Transport to Remote Access to present day. Knowing which install disk to reach for would be nice.
As Denis put it, maybe I should publish! Until I find someone willing to part with one of those wall charts it will take some cutting and pasting of selected excerpts from wikipedia. Mactracker has photos but not editable text that can be copied and pasted into a chart. Still very helpful, tho.

  • Bootcamp + firmware update What ???

Just received my Mac Mini core solo and installed a t2600 2.16ghz. Xbench = 89.76 with only 512mb ram core solo
    Q??
When launching Bootcamp it say's I have to update the firmware but everything is updsted already even before the T2600 ???
Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on here.
PS> It should be illegal to sell any computer with less than 1gb ram these days. LOL ROFL.
    ANy help will be appreaciated.

You need to have installed the first firmware update in order to run bootcamp/windows. To see if you have firmware installed go to utilities and look for Mac Mini Firmware Updater. If that isn't there, install it:

  • Problem with SMC firmware update.

I can't seem to run it. Everytime I go to, it never installs. I have a feeling that it has to do with bootcamp. Whenever I restart my computer, it runs Windows (I don't know how to fix that.) so I can't just press restart, I have to actively start OSX.
I go to install it, my computer starts up, and then the installer pops up again. I press restart, start up the computer, same thing. I've done this 4 or 5 times and the same thing happens everytime. What should I do?

    Sheir,
Go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and verify that OS X is the Startup OS that is selected for your Mac. If it is not the one selected, select it and restart your Mac a couple of times to verify that it will restart into OS X. If it won't then we need to figure out what is going wrong.
If it successfully restarts into OS X then go to Applications>Utilities and look for the SMC Firmware Update.app that should have been placed there and trash it. Also trash the SMC Firmware Update.dmg if you have it. I don't think you will because Software Update has been doing the install. Empty the trash.
Then go to Apple Downloads and manually download a fresh version of the iMac (early 2006) SMC Firmware Update released on 16 MAY 2006.
Shut down all your other programs except the Finder and Dashboard. Unplug everything from your Mac except your USB keyboard and mouse. Turn off Airport and Bluetooth if they're on.
Make sure you are completely familiar with the SMC Firmware installation instructions.
Try to do the install again.

  • Set up laptop to look for, and download updates at set times

    Hi all,
I would like to find out if it is possible to set up my MacBook Pro to look for and download software updates at specific times, between midnight and 07:00 for example.
I would be very grateful for any advice, Thanks

    Hi,
Go into song view, then go to menu > view > view options  and select iCloud status. This tells you if tracks have been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. Identify the  4 tracks waiting. Anything unusual about them, could be a faulty file. You may need remove them and let process complete.

There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.
