Looking for a 1/4", RCA or XLR input to trrs with attentuator to allow audio recording/streaming

We have built an iPhone app that allows an artist to plug directly from their mixer to the iPhone and stream/record the set at the same time. Problem I'm having is getting the signal to come in low enough to detect it as a mic line input and record (realizing it's limited to mono for now).
Anyone know of a good cable to bring RCA, 1/4" or XLR to a 1/8" TRRS cable with the attenuator needed to drop the signal down low enough to be recognized as a mic input signal?

Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

For what it is worth, I am a fan of NuGen, I have both SEQ 1 and 2 and two stereo enhancing tools (stereoizer and stereoplacer I think they're called). Since I have the SEQ 1 it replaces all Channel EQ's. And the stereotools sound great and very lush, in stead of the more usual cheezy combfilterthingies that pass for stereo enhancing tools.
And I actually like the interfaces. Simple, but stylish, functional and ergonomic (in this case meaning you can see all parameters in a quick glance, no guessing at settings).

Hey folks, here's the deal: I'm looking for a great sounding, versatile, linear phase EQ. This will be used on a track by track basis, so low CPU overhead would be a plus, but I am running this on a dual 2.8 GHz eight core Mac Pro with currently 6 GB's of RAM, later to be expanded, so sound quality is more important to me than anything else. Cheaper, of course, is better, but I don't really want to miss out on quality to save a buck either. I already own two UAD-1 cards, and bought the Precision EQ, and while I like it, it's really mainly for mastering and not for finely tuned mixing work. I also own the DDMF EQ's, and enjoy them. I also own T-Racks 3, and use the linear phase EQ's with that, still, I am looking for something else for some reason. I am mainly using Logic Pro 8, and the linear phase EQ with it as my go-to channel EQ at the moment, but I also own Ableton Live 5, Digital Performer 5.13, and Pro Tools M-Powered 8, so I have access to the EQ's in those. But Pro Tools is only just for getting projects and audio out of Pro Tools, I can't use it well with the rest of my system, so that's that. Ableton is great, but not really what I use anymore, although I wish I had more time to get down with it.
Anyway, here is what I'm mainly considering, although I could go with any other idea at this point, so please make any suggestion you feel fit.
1) Ozone 4. (http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/)
I like the company a lot, and it's going to be inexpensive for me due to a student discount. I probably will buy it sooner or later, my thoughts are though that it largely duplicates what I already have with T-Racks 3, and I can't see using it necessarily as a channel EQ for some reason, although I probably could. I don't know how it sounds really either, I imagine pretty good, though.
2) Nugen Audio SEQ 2 Master Edition (http://www.nugenaudio.com/seq2.php)
Again, not expensive. I do really like the 10 Hz-30kHz possibilites with this guy. I own their Visualizer and other plug ins and enjoy them. I've downloaded the demo and liked that too, but you can't really measure how much you like the sound in a week or whatever. I mainly didn't hear any sound, which is probably good. The interface is less than beautiful, but then again, I'm not buying art here.
3) RNDigital Unique-lizer. (http://www.rndigitallabs.com/Plug-ins/U ... lizer.html)
I have their D4 compressor and absolutely love it. I have demoed their Inspector XL and loved that. I think they've got some killer plug ins going, and again, will probably get this sooner or later, likely as part of a package with the Inspector XL and the other EQ (the FirEQ), and a limiter or something. I really like the visual aspect of this plug, it would probably be helpful in isolating a troubling frequency in a snare hit, say.
4) The UAD Cambridge EQ. (http://www.uaudio.com/products/software ... index.html)
By now you are noticing that I want a more graphically styled modern EQ, and not a vintage emulating plug in. I intend to add some of those at some point (I guess I have some already with T-Racks and whatnot) but for now I want a super clean and versatile modern plug in style EQ that I would feel comfortable using on every track for it's uncolored sound. This is probably my least consideration, I think I would get much more processing power out of my native processing rather than my two UAD-1 cards, frankly, especially if Snow Leopard performs as promised. I am thinking the UAD-1 cards will turn out to be more of a processing liability more than anything else, I'm new to them though, but that's what it's looking like to me. I am unlikely to want to go to UAD-2 at the moment either, and am suspicious of the limitations of it's processing power vs. native as well. And this seems like an older offering of UAD's, and seems to want to be a "classic" console style EQ as well as the more neutral style version I am looking for... but then again, I don't know much about it compared to most.
That's the big ones- I have looked into URS, which seems like more vintage emulating stuff to me, as well as Sonalksis, which seems good. Waves is always there. TC Powercore and the Liquid Mix are possible (well TC Powercore unlikely, that's big time money) but I am sort of unwilling to add another Firewire bus PCIe card and am using a Firewire interface.

Looking for a Personal Finance, Money Management program that works smoothly with Mac OS 10.9.4

I’m looking for something to break down my spending into categories and merchants so I can track where I’m spending and better control it. Checked out Quicken first, but looks like Intuit is giving up on Mac integration. Can someone experienced in Mac and Financial Programs recommend one for personal finance and money management that works well with Mac? OSX 10.9.4. And, I’m an English major. Numbers and spending are my Achilles wallet.

Help.Looking for a new HD/ mini DV camera that will work with FCP ExpressHD

I just bought a imac with final cut express HD and am looking to buy a new HD/mini DV camera for under $900.00 that i will have no problems with my mac.I was looking at the Sony-HDR-HC3 HD mini which i found for $700.00 and that seemed pretty good.Does any one have any suggestions??I would greatly appreciate it.

When you say no problems with your Mac are you aware of the workflow difficulties editing HDV? e.g monitoring via external HD monitor is an expensive option, burning HD DVD's similarly so.
However this cam has an HDMI out to enable you to connect to your HDTV to view your recorded content, so if you can live with monitoring through your computer for editing, this is a decent camera for the $$'s.
A friend of mine has a Sony DCR-HC96 and is pleased with the larg(ish) single CCD, giving improved low light capabilities over other domestic miniDV camcorders.
At around $500, it is a miniDV alternative worthy of consideration, if more suitable for your budget without the HDV editing headaches.
It depends whether you really need/want HDV rather than SD and what your final output requirements are.

Looking for a specific iphone app - it is supposed to help with identifying/transferring data to purchased itunes files

I had to get my iPhone 5c fixed today because there was a problem with syncing itunes files from my laptop; I changed the names of some of the song files/artists from my laptop and attempted to sync it to my iphone, but that created a corruption in the process, which in turn ceased any kind of syncing altogether. So my iphone is restored/fixed, but I still have to deal with having itunes purchases and old CD data listed as "Various Artists" or "Unknown Artist."
The Mac employer who helped me told me about an app that can identify those "Unknown Artist" files and interpret the data so that the iphone can recognize it. I know that's kind of a conveluted description, but he basically said that I can type in the name of an album, and the app will identify the relevent artist name/album artwork (within a database of music info, i'm guessing) and send it over to itunes.
I can't for the life of me remember the name of the app, but I know it starts with an S, and the app icon has the color red. I searched the music apps, but I can't seem to find it, so i'm guessing it's under a different category.
Does anybody know the app that i'm talking about?

If I could make a suggestion. I too have the Axiom49 and love it. I would not get rid of it. But for control of Logic, I use the Presonus FaderPort. It works flawlessly. Plug it into a USB port, add the Mackie HUI controller in the preferences, set the input and output (of that control surface) to the FaderPort, and your done. Motorized fader, limitless pan knob, etc. You may want to look into this little gem. It will be less expensive than a new MIDI controller, that's for sure.

Looking for a PDF expert to advise me on conversion problems with Hindu fonts.

I guess that PDF does not support Hindi fonts so I have outlined my indesign original document.
When I do the PDF conversion, the commas add a small outline of a box above the comma. This is not in the document before the PDF conversion.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I assume you are using devanagari characters to write hindi. PDF should have no trouble to display devanagari, but this is not the end of the story.
To correctly show devanagari requires complex shaping procedures including character reordering and changing the shapes of characters, and repositioning (see Shaping: Devanagari OpenType specification to see how Windows handles this). PDF does not do any of this, but that is not a problem. Rather, the creator of the PDF must complete reordering, choosing different shapes, and changing positions, and only then can the PDF be made. It should show correctly on screen. If it does not this is probably not a fault in the PDF viewer, but a fault in the programs which MAKE the PDF (InDesign in your case).
So you need to be sure that you are using a version of InDesign with full support for devanagari including complex shaping and PDF export. If you do not have this support, it will not be feasable to set your hindi text. And if the PDF is wrong, this is something for the support for InDesign (or the InDesign add-on you buy).

Bottom line: I feel I've tried everything I could, and I assure you, I have done a good bit of "hair tearing out" about this. Nothing in the "user friendly" world of "smartphones" in the year 2014 should be this **** complicated.
Moving on... I have a PC (viewing my iCloud account), an iPhone and an iPad with Notes that sync very harmoniously. In fact, everything that I have set to sync does so. However, I use Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Exchange version) and although I have uninstalled the functionality, I have tried the Outlook <--> iCloud sync. I uninstalled it because it was very problematic. I'm pretty good with computers, and all of the issues surrounding "the Cloud" so far in the year I've had an iPhone have seemed to be of an excessive number.
So... I welcome concrete suggestions, or more welcome... an answer.

I'm looking for some help setting up a cross platform work station with Mac/Windows

I've worked with Mac for all CS Suite programs to date, but now need more power for some publishing/editing work - and would like to keep two computers working back and forth for various parts of projects - and a PC desktop is more affordable for an upgrade to my laptop. Can I work interchangeably between platforms with the CS subscription? What are the drawbacks (file integrity) and any device issues that I may need to deal with?

So from your post I would assume that you have a file consisting of separate pages, such as a eight page Word document, and you want to be able to print this as a booklet. Do you want the booklet folded and saddle stitched as well?
I've seen this facitlity on copier-based office devices that have a mechanical saddle-finisher/booklet unit. But I have not seen a consumer product with the same.
If you are happy to fold the printed pages into a booklet, and you don't have more than four pages so stapling is not necessary, then there could be software available that will change the page order and print the individual pages in a 2-up mode in the correct order (ie pages 1 & 4 on the outside and pages 2 & 3 on the inside). A quick search found Create Booklet for Mac.
