I don't think you will get one API to do them all.
Some helpful hints:

  • Looking for a java-based SDK that handles file conversion to PDF and TIF...

    Hi all,
First off, this is my first posting so I'm not 100% sure where to post this topic. So please forgive me if I'm accidentally posting in the wrong location.
My question deals with a project I am currently working on.
I am looking for a java-based SDK that can meet the following requirements...
    1) convert all printable file-formats (i.e. JPEG, DOC, TXT, PPT, etc.) into PDF
    2) merge multiple PDFs into one PDF
    3) convert PDF to TIF or at least do some sort of conversion to TIF
    4) works in Java or some sort of web-based language
    5) free or relatively cheap
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

  • Looking for a web based filemanager (or similar).

    Hello,
I have a small server at home hosting all my files and I am looking for a simple setup to be able to access these files from pretty much every where.
Usually I'm using ssh or sftp but the thought of being able to access the files through a web interface is really sounding good. So, I have been searching for a web based file manager and found a few, but none that really made me go wow.
The best so far is probably Ajaxplorer. One thing that I'm looking for though is a PAM authentication feature which Ajaxplorer doesn't have. Are there any web based file managers around that supports this?
Or... maybe I'm looking for the wrong things. Are there other nifty solutions available for accessing files on a remote folder through a web interface?

    zenlord wrote:
If PAM authentication is all you're missing, why don't you setup http_auth?
THX for the suggestion, I was looking for something like this myself and the next version should have LDAP_auth - alrighty then!
    Zl.
http_auth... do you have any nice links on how to use it? I've never heard of it
Ajaxplorer is quite nice after all and setting up repositories isn't all that bad. Looks like I'm sticking to it while I continue my search for another app.

  • Looking for Toronto (GTS) based MAC expert... suggestions?

Looking for a MAC expert that can come into by business and assist with all our computers.
We have the need to configure all our computers, place a backup system in place. etc.

These forums are mainly for asking technical questions; Apple does not participate except to occasionally make sure that the ToU are being followed. I believe there is a business section if I'm not mistaken? Ahh, here is a link to the Apple Business Store:

You might want to start there; I am sure there'd be resources, but since I've never had the need, I don't know where to find them.

  • I am looking for a cloud based photo management solution

I have thousands of photos that I need to organize online so that they can be found easily (via search/tagging) and downloaded from any computer. Essentially I need a cloud-based version of Bridge. Does Bridge work like this? Does Adobe have another solution that does? I am currently a CC member. Thanks for your help. - Jake

No, adobe bridge does not work like that. Just that you might ceate several folders on Adobe Creative Cloud and manage them(if possible).

  • Just Looking for OEM Web Based Standalone

I have 10.2.0.1.7 installed on one machine and I installed the client with the adminsitrator option on another. Im simply trying to connect to the 10g standalone web-based OEM version and am a little lost. Can someone please point me in the right direction for what I need to do to get this up
    Thanks

I assume you mean that you need DBCONTROL (standalone version of Grid Control) to manage your new database. If yes, then this is usually there as part of your database. Try the link http://<your-host-name>:1820/em
Otherwise you can also issue the command "emctl status dbconsole" which should reveal whether or not your agent is up. If it is not up, issue "emctl start dbconsole" and then reissue the status command which will reveal the URL to use to see dbcontrol home page.

  • Looking for a 'step filter' plugin...

Essentially I'm looking for a step based filter plugin that works in a similar way to Delay Designer, whereby you can define the cutoff/resonance/pan etc within a grid, thus giving complete control over where, when and for how long parts are filtered.
This would be a pretty cool plug I think and I've looked before but not found anything. I like the simplicity of Delay Designer too so I don't want to get lost in features I don't need. Does anyone know of such a thing? I have Reaktor if anyone knows any user files, but I always find it a bit complex and painful. Otherwise I'm prepared to pay for something if it's decent.
    Cheers

This has a 128 step sequencer for filtering and panning:
    http://www.camelaudio.com/camelspace.php
Also the Ensemble "Vierring" in your Reaktor factory Library has fantastic filtering features as each of the 4 filter bands can be linked to it's own step sequencer plus many FX options.

  • Looking for OS X Version of Installer Observer

I'm looking for a program that lists things that have changed since the last 'check' of the system. 'Fseventer' shows what going on; but I'm looking for a list-based comparison of how the system looks now, versus how it looked at a previous time. Thanks.

File Buddy used to be able to take a "snapshot" of the OS, I wonder if it still does...

  • Looking for a helpdesk system...

I'm looking for a web-based (preferably PHP) helpdesk system that can authenticate with Open Directory. Basically what I want is a means of tracking support cases based on user information. Something that can send out mass emails to users is ideal.
I've tried a few that have LDAP support (i.e. oneorzero), but it seems that Open Directory is just different enough from LDAPv3 that they don't work.
Can someone point me in the direction of such a system that can talk to Open Directory?
    Thanks.

We have had this problem forever...
We even bought webhelpdesk (and would be happy to resell our license, if someone made that legal, for a huge discount) for this reason...
Ultimately, we used a two-pronged solution:
Drupal ( http://drupal.org ) CMS based on PHP, lots of modules for lots of capabilities. Mostly, we need a sort of blog + knowledgebase + survey tool + helpdesk for IT. It has almost all that (we didn't like the helpdesk, but it's a work in progress)... But, since it has LDAP logins and persistent users, we could add:
CerberusHelpdesk ( http://cerberusweb.com ) a PHP helpdesk (not free, but like... $300?). Cerberus is an email queue management system (no asset tracking, alas), but it's great for issue resolution! And, since it's based on email, we were able to create a helpdesk ticket submit form in Drupal that would email the ticket into Cerberus.
It sounds complicated, and it's definitely not the easiest* thing in the world, but it is simple, and functional for the helpdesk solution. I should also mention that Cerberus has* a submission/ticket viewing "customer" web addon that CAN use LDAP authentication - but we toyed with it, couldn't get it working, and gave up (we care more about the helpdesk team agents being LDAP-auth'd, but it can't do that yet, and wasn't a dealbreaker).
I'd also HIGHLY recommend an email based system that polls from a standard email account - that way, if your webserver dies, you can just reconfigure Mail/Thunderbird/whatever to directly access that account, and continue to serve your customers!
    Good luck!

  • Web Based Messageboard (JSP, XML, XSLT) - Just Looking For Advice Please!

I have a general question - I am not looking for any code, just some advice if possible. I am studying on a Masters course and I have been given an assignment to do which I am having difficult getting started. I have worked a lot with Java up until now, however this is the first time I have had to JSP on my course.
My current assignment is that I am required to create a simple web based message board, using JSP and XML, which allows users to post messages to the board, and also to reply to messages. The content of the message board is stored in an XML file, and there is no database involved. The message data needs to be formatted for viewing in a browser using XSL transformations.
I am stuck as to how to go about starting the project, and this is all I am asking for advice in. I have created the basic XML file which has some preliminary data stored within it, and I have created an XSL stylesheet to transform this data, however I am stuck with the JSP. Do I need to create a seperate JSP page for each page of the website? How does this link in with the XSLT?
I would welcome and really appreciate any advice, but I stress that I am not looking for anyone to give me any code or anything like that.
    Thanks.

You can use XSLT to convert XML to HTML. Then include this HTML in your JSP. Further on you've a plain HTML form with an input field for a message which you submit to a servlet. In the servlet validate/convert/whatever this message and add it to the XML file and then forward/redirect the request back to the JSP.
