Looking for a Cisco Switch Metroethernet network

Dear all,
I am deploying a metro ethernet network in the city where my company operates.
I am now thinking to my end customers connectivity to my Metroethernet switches (Cisco Me3800 series switches).
I am after these kind of switches :
- 2 ports SFP
- 6 or 8 Ports 10/100/1000
-  Possibility to have Switches working in DC power
- IOS software
Can someone please advise ?

ME 3600X has 24 ports copper and 2 SFP+ ports.

  • Looking for  a code to change networks

hi im looking for a code to change networks can someone please help me

If you mean you want to use a different SIM on your SIM locked iPhone., there is no "code" for that. You need to contact the carrier the phone is locked to. Only they can unlock it. Apple does not unlock phones.

  • Looking for all cisco phones ip's

im looking for a tool that search all the ip phone network and recognize the type , mac and ip address. does anybody know any?
    thanks

If you have your phones connected to Catalyst switches try Cisco Network Assistant (available somewhere in software download section of the Cisco website). You will have your network mapped with different icons for phones, access points etc. Each device is described with MAC, IP and if it is CDP enabled device (like phones) - model.

  • How can I 'force' my Macs to look for each other on the network?

OK, I have an iMac with a wired connection to a router, and a MacBook Pro with a wireless connection to the same router. Most of the time, they can 'see' one another on the network, no problem. But, every so often, even after both have been on for a while, I will click the Network icon and the other computer will not appear as available - this happens even when the target computer can see the computer I'm using to try to access it.
So, here's my question: how can I 'force' my Macs to look for (and find) one another on the network?
Thanks... if you need further information, just ask... - beck

If you are using Tiger, go to
Finder menu -> Go -> Connect to Server
Enter the specific IP address of the other Mac where is says +Server Address+. You can find the IP address by running System Profiler or looking at System Preferences Network pane (on the other Mac).
Once you have mounted the volume you to access, make an alias for it and place it in the Dock or on your Desktop. The next time you want to connect to that server, use the alias.

  • ISE web auth for non-cisco switch(D-link 3528)

Is it possible to use ISE(inline posture node) to redirect the wired users to ISE guest portal ?
And the wired users will get full network access after they pass the web auth.

you can use ISE ln-line posture node with 3rd part switches
RADIUS access device must supply the following RADIUS attributes:
        Calling-Station-Id (for MAC_ADDRESS)
        User-Name
        NAS-Port-Type
RADIUS accounting message must have the Framed-IP-Address attribute
VLAN, DACL features can be used  but again it depends on switch models let us know  specific switch  models . Certain advanced use cases, such as those that involve posture assessment, profiling, and web authentication, are not consistently available with non-Cisco devices or may provide limited functionality,

  • Looking for ideas regarding encrypting a network drive used by 2 OSX Macs

I was thinking of getting a networked HD (connected by Ethernet to my wireless router) to enable my two Macs (wife's tower running 10.3.9, my Powerbook running 10.5.8) to store each of our iPhotos, iMovies, iTunes, etc. libraries on one network drive (rather than on each Mac's HD.)
Since the Powerbook is so portable, and equipped with Airport, it would be the logical CPU to position next to our living room HDTV - using one Audio cable and one DVD-to-HDMI cable. Then, either user could log into their own account on the Powerbook and wirelessly access the networked HD to display their personal iPhoto, iMovie, etc. library contents over the TV.
But I wonder... if wife normally maintains her iPhoto library by logging into her G4 tower, maybe OSX's permissions will thwart her from accessing it when she logged into her account on the Powerbook because she would appear to be a different user.
I also wonder if It would also be wise...or even possible... to encrypt the networked drive, somehow, to add another level of security to the files, since anyone who managed to hack thru my Router might potentially be able to read all the files on the HD. The router companies lead us to believe WEP and other protocols are totally secure, but I've also read that these can be hacked by some individuals. This being a 1TB networked drive, I expect some other data might get backed up to it, too, making the security issue a bit more of a concern.
The security and encryption issues in this scenario are muddy to me....but it seems like this is could be a great way to securely consolidate both users' iPhotos and other media on one network drive, accessible from either computer with appropriate logins....or would there be some show-stopping 'gotcha'? What do you think?

instead of having to boot up both Macs, initiate file sharing, fumble to get things mounted, etc. each time ...
You can leave the desktop Mac to time out and go to sleep. and set "wake on Ethernet Administrator Access", which should allow you to wake it up and get files.
the Powerbook uses OSX 5.8 while the G4 tower is on Panther.
That does not present a problem or File Sharing, which can be made compatible across a wide \[but not infinite] range or Mac Operating Systems.
So they aren't using the same version of iPhoto...the G4 uses iPhoto6, and the Powerbook uses iPhoto 9.
Our household runs a mix of 10.4 and 10.5, having just upgraded the faster Macs to 10.5. We have our entire iPhoto library in iPhoto 8 \[iLife '08], which supports the range of Mac OS we are using, and many features including ordering prints (but not face-recognition). If you want to combine your libraries, perhaps you could drop back to iPhoto 8 and re-import the iPhoto9 stuff, and upgrade to iPhoto 8 on the G4/400. \[You CAN run 10.5.8 on a G4/400, but you have to use some hacks to install it, and it may be a little sluggish at times. Then you could simply upgrade to iPhoto 9 all around.
Encrypting an entire drive makes me really queasy. I have spent too many hours digging out after drive failures and software errors have clobbered a drive, and no matter how hard you work at recovery, at least a few files always get lost. When you encrypt an entire drive, the Operating System sees the whole drive as one big file -- and errors in that file may make that file (your entire drive) unrecoverable. A friend of mine had just such a disaster at home when a drive space enhancer called "Stacker" blew up on him.
If you put Quicken or other financial data on your home Server or shared drive, I would still not worry about it, but if it keeps you up at night, you could encrypt just the financial data file (and keep it backed up religiously).
Because I do support for schools, I have also implemented Mac OS X Server at home. With a school-like setup, ALL users files are on the Server, and any user can use any Mac, their files just "appear" when they log in. File Sharing underlies everything, but it is all done without thinking about it -- the Server just does it. But Server is a US$500 package (down from $1000) that requires a dedicated Mac and a lot of fiddling, so I do not recommend it for your situation.
One thing I do recommend, if you are going to store files on your network, is to try to upgrade/add an Ethernet Switch at Gigabit Ethernet speed, if possible. The Router does not need that speed, but Mac-to-Mac (if you go the File Sharing route) or Mac-to-Network_Drive (if you go that route) will be much more responsive. If your G4/400 does not have Gigabit Ethernet, you can get a PCI slot card for it. Or maybe upgrade it to a newer old Mac that can run 10.5.8 without hacks.

  • Looking for replacement power switch ribbon - HP DV7 3060us

Took this laptop apart to replacement the dc power jack.  Put everything back.  No power.  Took off the power strip and noticed a ribbon was missing.  Does anyone know were i can find a replacement ribbon or who i can contact for such a request?

Perhaps you will find the part and part number in the Maintenance and Service Guide manual for your notebook.
In addition to Cheryl's suggestion, you can also try HP Partsurfer for your part.
If you don't find the part listed in either place, I doubt it is a part that is sold.
    Good luck!

    Hi.
I am looking for a Cisco software that permit me to restrict and control connections changes for ip phones and pc's to my net 3750 switches or something seemed that I could do in my 3750 switches (I know that I can configue static mac's for each switch port but I have five hundred phones and It is a huge work that I don't want to do). Can anybody say me any idea? I have the problem that users in my office are always changing their phones from their switch ports and this produce an huge administrative effort to have a good net inventary.
    Thanks.

  • Configure Domain Controller ( PDC emulator) as NTP source for Cisco switch 6509

    Hi All,
My Org consists of 2 DC one Physical and One Virtual. All Roles are on Physical machine. I ran a W32tm /Query /Configuration command  on PDC emulator and the results are confusing. My PDC is using time source VMICTimeProvider a syou can see below.
    VMICTimeProvider (Local)
    DllName: C:\Windows\System32\vmictimeprovider.dll (Local)
    Enabled: 1 (Local)
    InputProvider: 1 (Local)
My first Question is that Is it Ok for PDC emulator to use this time source or should I change to some Other source like pool.ntp.org or time.windows.com,0x1.
My Second Question is that I  have a core switch cisco 6509 and I want this switch to use my NTP server (PDC emulator ) as NTP source, but at present I cannot as I am getting this error on switch.(no select intersectionTP )
Can Any one help ... Its is urgent
    Thanks in Advance

You should not make your DCs sync their time with your Hypervisor. This usually ends with time synchronization problem so I would recommend to disable that on your DCs and domain joined VMs and use an external NTP server to sync time on your PDC while using
your AD forest topology for time sync on other DCs and domain-joined computers.
I have already started a Wiki article that describes how to configure time sync in an AD domain and you might consider using the GPO configuration option that is stated: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18573.time-synchronization-in-active-directory-forests.aspx
For the CISCO switch, I would recommend asking them in CISCO forums.

  • Need CISCO switch which support 10 GBPS Traffice

    Hi all,
In my data center currently I have 13 servers with Cisco Ethernet switch which supports 1 GBPS network that switch is up-linked with a sonicwall firewall.
We recently bought a new sonicwall firewall which has a two 10GE port.So I am looking now a cisco switch which has at least 16 10GE Fiber ports and one/two 1 GB Ethernet ports. That one  1 GB ports will connect to existing cisco switch and 16 GE FC ports will connect  to firewall and as well as all server which I am planning to move one by one as we buy 10 GB supported SFC Network adapter cards for these servers.
Can you guys suggest me a Cisco Switch with 10 GE Fiber supported with 1/2 1 GBPS ethernet. Also if you can suggest me 10 GE Supported SFC adapters for Dell R 710,R720 and IBM x3550,M4 and IBMx3650 M4 servers.
    Thank You

  • Physical port security on Cisco switching

We have a security problem I would like to resolve. Like most sites our wired network has live ports that periodically, non corporate PCs and laptops connect up to without our knowledge. In our network we do not filter for valid MAC addresses although Ive learned this is a poor approach to security as MAC can be changed in about 10 seconds.
I would like a solution that would validate corporate systems and let them through the Cisco layer 3 switching and block out all other devices which attempt connection. We do not currently have IDS or IPS and are not likely to in short term.
Is there a hardware or software or combination solution out there that works well for this ?
    Thank you

    Steve
    2 solutions spring to mind
    1) 802.1x authentication. Microsoft XP/Vista has built in 802.1x supplicant and Cisco switches support Network EAP used to pass the 802.1x messages. What you also need is an authentication server such as Cisco Secure ACS server although Microsoft IAS server also supports 802.1x.
Basically before a client is allowed access to the network they have to authenticate to the network with valid credentials otherwise the port is shutdown.
    2) NAC - Network Admission Control. This goes one step further than 1) whereby the client is also checked to see if it conforms to company policy eg. does it have the right virus checker on it etc.. and if it doesn't the client can be quarantined.
A search on Cisco's website for both NAC and 802.1x will provide a lot of useful links.

  • My wifi constantly switches between on and looking for other networks

while I am on my wifi network and internet successfully I notice that it switches between saying WIFI ON and LOOKING FOR OTHER NETWORKS. How do I get it to stop looking for other networks because it is successfully already connected to the right one?

Hold down the option key and select the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar. What values are shown for the following?
    PHY Mode
    Channel
    Security
    Signal/Noise or RSSI
    Transmit Rate
Please do not post the BSSID, as that information is private.
Now hold down the option key again and select

  • Using a Cisco Switch as the NTP Master time source for a Windows PDC

    Hi all,
We have a closed network (no connectivity to the internet) and we have a Core router setup as the NTP Master for the rest of the network.
All network devices are getting the time synced as intended but we are having issues getting the Primary Domain Controller (PDC) registering to it as a valid NTP time source.
The problem we have is that we are affected by IOS bug CSCed13703 which rejects the PDC as an NTP associated device. Short of changing the IOS on the Router which is the main router feeding 30 other sites I would like to point the PDC at a different switch (an NTP Client switch) as it’s NTP source, rather than it going to the actual NTP Master.
I have changed the values in the PDC to point to a different switch (3750) that has it’s time synced with the NTP master, but the PDC doesn’t want to know. I assume it will only accept the time from an official NTP Master .
Could any of you fine people advise if what I am trying to do is possible and if so how I would go about it. I was thinking of setting the 3750 with the NTP Master command also, but I don’t want to confuse the other cisco devices in the network
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Thanks Marvin,
I can confirm the Stratum on the 3750 is set to 15.  This is due to the NTP Time source being an internal router and not an authoritative time source out on the internet.  When setting the clock and using the NTP Master command on my internal router it sets the Stratum level to 14.
I have pointed the PDC at the Router (Stratum 14) and it does successfully sync time, but won't trust it as a valid source after the first sync.  Upon reading I believed this to be the IOS bug as the symptoms are identical. Your theory of the PDC requiring a Stratum 2 time source is logical (especially in this scenario) but I have seen them use Stratum 4 before and it worked just fine.
I guess I could change the Router acting as a time source for the network to be NTP Master 1 which should force Stratum 1 giving the PDC and all other switches pointing to it a Stratumlevel of 2 which would prove it either way.  I don't mind pointing the PDC at the router instead of the switch so long as it gets the time synced and trusts it from that point on.
I was going to make the 3750 switch an NTP Master for the Network and point the PDC to it (as per my previous post) but I have noticed this morning that the NTP Master command isn't available on the 3750 as it has no hardware clock!
Are you aware of any other way of forcing the 3750 to become a time source for the PDC without using the NTP Master command?  I have looked at the NTP Peer command and I have ruled this out already and I still need the switch to be a client of the NTP Master Router on the network
    Cheers for getting involved,
    David

  • Refurbished Cisco Switches, worth it for home lab?

    Robert5205 wrote:
Cablesandkits.com has some great prices on old Cisco gear. This week they have a 3560 PoE 48-port switch for $150.
Yes, it is absolutely worth it to have real hardware in your hands. Packet tracing is fine, but it's not real life.
Yeah I believe they are being sold by Cablesandkits through newegg.  Any suggestions on which switch or features I should look for?  Really I want something that's managed but beyond that I'm not sure.

So I been thinking about getting a decent switch to play around with at home.  During my search I found there's a good bit of "refurbished" Cisco switches online and was wondering if they are worth trying out.  Figured they are beyond EOL hence the cheapness, the one I'm looking at is a Cisco 2900 series for like $30 bucks.  Pretty new in IT and working on my Network+ and starting to look into the Cisco certs at the moment so having an actual Cisco switch would be useful.
