Hi, I'm looking for a simple flip book template for Flash CS5 for a 20 page brochure/ booklet. Or a tutorial. Does anyone know of one?
    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,
No need to restrict your choice to the preset Pages Templates. Do a web search and choose a Word template. Pages will open Word documents and templates. Or design your own:
This is a Table I inserted into a blank Pages Word Processing document. Format the date column in Inspector > Table > Format > Cell Format. Select the first Date cell, then drag the fill handle down to increment the dates.

  • Looking for recommendations on training books for PS CS3

I'm not complete newbie to Photoshop, but I know there is so much more I could get out of it.... so I'm looking for a good tutorial book. One that isn't going to cost me an arm & a leg.
    Thanks!

    Michael,
No book will have solutions to all problems. Even the Web will come up short sometimes. That's what this forum is about.
I'd start with the manual, then spend some time with the Help files (F1). Yeah, the manual doesn't read like Faulkner, but it's not bad and has the solution to many, many problems. It does rely too heavily, nowadays, on "(see Help files)," but ink and paper have gotten more expensive.
Next, as someone else suggested, "Classroom in a Book," and work through it all, even the stuff you think you'll never need. You will pick up other knowledge, as you do those exercises.
At that point, decide what you want to do with Photoshop. That will narrow your book/training down to specific areas, like "Photoshop for Photographers," "Photoshop for Video," etc.
If you hit a problem, that you cannot solve with the manual, F1, "CiaB," Google and a search of this forum, please post your specific question.

  • Looking for Good, Detailed Mac Book

My three year Apple Care will soon be expiring (what will I do without them). I am trying to find an extremely detailed book that would provide all the information I could ever possibly need about my Mac and Leopard. I find I still call Apple Care a lot with questions.
    Can anyone suggest a book?

    Can't you renew it?

I like Pogue's Missing Manual Leopard book. I also have Wiley's Mac OS X Leopard Bible (Litt) which is not as good, IMO, but still utile.
Your best and most inexpensive method is to hang around these forums - Leopard and the relevant hardware forum(s).
If there are any large bookstores near you, I suggest browsing through the Leopard area. Look for things in the books that you never heard of or are unfamiliar with. If the book has lots of these things, it's probably a good one.

  • Looking for Third Party VPN W/O Significant Network Speed Hit

As the title indicates, I am looking for a VPN app (Windows) which will not significantly ding my network speed. I have FiOS (75/35). I understand there is normally a speed drop while connected to a VPN but dropping from 75Mbps to 1.5Mbps is unacceptable. I have only tested Spotflux so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
To clarify, any app would have to be compatible with PeerBlock. I do not care about advertising as Ad Block Plus takes care of that. As for speed, on average, I would expect no less than 20-30Mbps. Also, I want the ability to choose my own servers (whether foreign or domestic).

    Check out https://www.ipvanish.com
I'm on a mac, but the windows app works well too. While connected to one of the Miami servers, which are in the same state as me, I can often get nearly my full 75 Mbps down when using openvpn (udp). IPVanish has servers around the world, some have better speeds than others. Your speed will depend on a few factors, distance from server being used, server load, etc. For best results I'd suggest using one of the "A" servers, example mia-a01, lon-a02, nrt-a01, etc.

  • Looking for pictures of Apeture Books to be used as samples

Anyone know where I can find pictures of what the end result of an Aperture Book looks like so I can show it to a Client?
If I show the Client the book in Aperture, it is difficult for them to visualise what the final book will look like.
    Any help here???
    Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I did know about this facility to preview the book before buying already. What I'm looking for is some kind of picture of what the final book actually looks like, something I can show a Client and say "it will look like this".
Do you know of anywhere I can see a jpeg or some equivalent of the final results?
A deep Google search has revealed nothing...
    Thanks,

  • Which ports to open in PIX for outgoing Cisco VPN client connections ?

I have Cisco vpn clients behind the PIX and i want them to connect to a vpn 3005 which i behind another PIX . Can anybody tell me which ports i have to open on both the PIX firewalls ?

It depends on how you have deployed your VPN Remote Access users.
By default, if you enable IPSec-Over-TCP or IPSec-over-UDP, then port 10000 is used for both, these methods are Cisco Proprietary and can be changed.
If you use NAT-T (NAT Traversal), the Standards-based implementation, then it uses UDP-4500).
either way, the operation of the VPN depends on:
    1) Whether these service have been enable on the VPN Concentrator
    2) Enabling the relevant transport settings on the VPN Client connection Properties.
Regarding the PIX infront of the VPNC3005, you will need to allow these above ports inbound to your VPNC3005 Public interface.
Locally, it depends if you filter outbound connections through your PIX. If you don't, then the PIX will allow the connection for the VPN Client attempting to access the remote VPNC3005

  • Looking for all cisco phones ip's

im looking for a tool that search all the ip phone network and recognize the type , mac and ip address. does anybody know any?
    thanks

If you have your phones connected to Catalyst switches try Cisco Network Assistant (available somewhere in software download section of the Cisco website). You will have your network mapped with different icons for phones, access points etc. Each device is described with MAC, IP and if it is CDP enabled device (like phones) - model.

  • Looking for Bi Performance & Tuning book for BI...

    Hi
I am looking for BI-7 (Performance & Tuning) book. Actually i looked  SAP Press site & found book "SAP BW Performance Optimization Guide" but its BW-3.5 based but I want for BI 7.
Pls. Suggest me any good book on this topic.
    Thanks
Edited by: Harpal Singh on Oct 5, 2010 9:45 AM

I am also a BI developer...
"SAP NetWeaver BW: Administration and Monitoring:
offers a lot of insight into what happens when loading happens and also talks in length about how to tune the system using RSADMIN parameters etc...
I found this book very useful and in fact it helped me a lot preparing for the BI Professional exam in data modeling ...
and to answer your question - the BW performance tuning book also talks a lot about memory allocation / consumption etc which might be stuff that is usually used by BASIS ... and since the concepts are the same  - you could go with the 3.5 book and get to know the options you have ...

  • Looking for LR3 plus CS5 book

I've been playing with my recently acquired LR3 and CS5 applications, and though I'm very pleased at the ways I've been able to use them together, I suspect I'm probably just scratching the surface. I'm therefore looking for a book that will cover both applications, covering how the two integrate within a photographer's workflow. So far, I've only identified one such book,
    http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/photoshop-cs5-and-lightroom-3-stephen-laskevitch/102335279 3?ean=9781933952673&itm=2&usri=lightroom%2bcs5
Has anyone gone through this book, and if so what are your thoughts on it? Can folks offer other recommendations? Thanks.

    Greetings!
Well, I'm not familiar with the book you mentioned, but I do have a generalization.  If you have one book that covers both tools, they will have to cover them less in-depth than two books each covering one tool.  While it is true they both work together, I would think that there isn't that much needed to know about how they integrate.
Having a good book on LR will give you what you can do in it, and having a good book on PS will likewise tell you what you can do there.  Then it's usually easy to tell which tool you could be using (well, preferentially, anyway!) to do what you want to accomplish.
In general, I think a lot of us view PS as the bit-manipulation stage, i.e., LR has already done corrections, cropping, getting it to look almost right.  Then we call upon LR to do anything fancy (filters, removing/adding things, etc).
In any event, I'd concentrate on what they do individually first, then work on your work flow of when to edit in which tool!
    Cheers!

  • Look for a Good VPN router

I trying to find a wireless router that has VPN tunneling capabilities as well as Good for gaming. And will also allow me to access my home internet while traveling .

Look at www.polarcloud.com/tomato, in the FAQ, you will find a list of supported routers....get one of those (WRT54GL would be a good choice if you don't need Wireless N which isn't yet supported by Tomato anyway), then look at this thread for info on setting it up. The thread is lengthy, but it is worth it. The guys on Linksysinfo.org really know what they are doing.....
This VPN uses OpenVPN (an open source VPN solution) which is as secure as any commecial solution, and very firewall friendly. It may look complex, but it really is quite easy to set up.... There is a (kind of) GUI for the OpenVPN client machines (openvpn.se).
I think you will find it meets your needs.....
Tomato 1.25vpn3.4 (SgtPepperKSU MOD) on a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54
    D-Link DSM-320 (Wired)
Wii (Wireless) - PS3 (Wired), PSP (Wireless) - XBox360 (Wired)
