Looking for a definition of Oracle XPath extensions

Hej,
I'm looking for a definition of all Oracle XPath extensions. Especially I'm thinking of the additional XPath functions available in the BPEL server engine. In a tutorial I found that the extensions should be documented at http://schemas.oracle.com/xpath/extension but this URL is not working.

  • Quick look for text files with non-registered extensions

It seems there was a way in 10.5 and 10.6 to register certain extensions with Quick Look to tell them how to preview a file. I have a lot of plain text files with different extensions that are not initially recognized by Quick Look. How do I hack the registry to tell Quick Look to preview a .cfg (or .aux, etc.) file as plain text?

Can't Quick Look for some text files

But if you don't know to reference the docs or even that it exists, it won't help. It could also be becuase you don't have taken enough time to become familiar with the structure and language of Oracle products (Database specifically). That kind of learning experience seldom occurs via a few forum threads.

  • Looking for the definitive answer on what Camcorder to buy!

Hello folks, I could really use your help.
I'm an avid Mac user in the graphic design world, and have an iMac as a home machine. I'm going out next week to buy a Digital Camcorder so that I can begin working with home movies of my family and such. I'm new to the camcorder world, and have discovered a wealth of information regarding the cameras available...and as a result am more confused than ever.
What I'm looking for is a Camcorder with a price tag not much over $600 that will allow me to shoot good indoor & outdoor video of my family and children, and that is easilly compatible with my iMac and the newest version of iLife on the market. I want to create DVD's from this, and store our home movies this way.
Can anyone tell me what camera fits all of these requirements? I'm looking at the Canon Elura 80 which I've found good things about, but would really like to hear from some of you with experience on the subject.
Any input or suggestions would be tremendously appreciated. My thanks in advance.

  • Printing in black and white only - looking for a definitive solution

    Hi
I've been trying to find out once and for all how to make sure my black and white text documents are printing only from the large pigment-based cartridge (525 PGBK), rather than using the smaller black dye-based cartridge (526BK), or from a combination of the dye-based colour cartridges. I've trawled through endless forums, and finally in frustration I recently called Canon's Australian phone support team.
I thought I'd nailed it. The phone support person told me that if the document I'm printing is definitely black only, then all I need to do is print normally, with grayscale DE-selected. He said nothing about also de-selecting duplex. But I've since read online advice that contradicts this in relation to other models (I haven't found any advice based specifically on the MG6150, apart from the phone guy from Canon). Some say you need to SELECT grayscale and DE-select duplex; others say to DE-select both grayscale and duplex; others say to select grayscale, DE-select duplex, and also select dither (on my screen that's under Main > Print Quality > Custom). I'm now wondering whether I've nailed it after all.
If anyone from Canon is reading this, can you please give a definitive answer to these questions:
    1. How do I ensure that my black and white text documents print only from the large pigment cartridge?
    2. Can I print in automatic duplex using this method, or do I have to do manual duplex?
    2. Will this also work for purely black and white NON-text documents as well (e.g., photos that have been converted from colour to B&W)?
    3. If not, is there another way of forcing B&W NON-text documents to print from the pigment cartridge? What about a way of forcing colour documents to print from the pigment cartridge?
    4. If my smaller black dye cartridge (526BK) isn't being used up at the same rate as the other dye cartridges, is there a way of forcing the printer to use this instead of the pigment cartridge for B&W text documents, but NOT to mix in any of the colour cartridges at the same time?
    5. Does this procedure work for all other Canon printer models in addition to the MG6150, or just a limited range?
Many thanks for your patience in reading this -- I'm really trying to get the best out of my printer rather than give up and buy a different brand, and I'm sure others would appreciate a definitive answer to these questions as well.

I have at MG8100 and it seems that there is no solution to this. I have scoured the web for one and it seems that there is no way to print in black and white only. The grayscale option uses all the colours including black to print.
I have gone through a ton of colour ink just printing black and white documents. Its cost me a fortune and I've worked out that I can get it done cheaper by going to the print shop.
As far as I am concerned this unbelievable. A printer that doesn't give you the option to print using black ink only! And its not advertised or made known in any way. You have to buy the product and then find out later that it does not have a black and white print option. It seems there are a lot of people out there that are unhappy about this, and the "problem" seems to go quite far back. Why haven't Canon responded by adding this feature?! I wont say it here, but I think it must be obvious. Brings to mind the story of housecleaning product manufacturers that increase the size of the closures so that consumers will use more of the product, which is actually wasteful, so as to increase the purchase cycle.
This leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm flogging mine now, and I am done with Canon for good!

  • Looking for a copy of Oracle 8.1.6 client for NT/2000

I have an issue of moving a crystal report server from one very old pc running Windows 2000 onto a newer server running the same version of Crystal Reports BUT we do not have the CD's for Oracle installed in the old server which is version 8.1.6.0.
I did install 8.1.7.0 and test it, then upgraded to 8.1.7.4. and test it and for some odd reason the version of Crystal Reports we have DOES NOT like 8.1.7 and higher. And we do not have any more Crystal Report Support, typical, right?.
So with this in mind, my only choice is to get 8.1.6, install it test it and if it does not work on the new server I have to start from scratch again. What a deal, I wish I never got to work with &*#$@@@ PC's again.

I think you would need to contact Oracle support to get the CD's if they're still available. 8.1.6 is desupported.
What kind of errors do you get whne trying to use Crystal with Oracle 8.1.7.4? Perhaps this is an ODBC issue?

  • Looking for a definitive reason why iMessage is being so inconsistent

Is it my wifi? My recipients'? My cellular signal? Theirs? What causes MY MESSAGE to send as SMS versus THEIRS? This is assuming iPhone to iPhone. The particular carriers involved are AT&T (mine) and T-Mobile (recipient). Both updated OS iPhone 4S.
Additionally, I did have an SMS not go through at all to a non-iPhone person last week - despite not letting me know it didn't go through.
It would be great to be able to decipher where the problem is. Any ideas?

If you have an internet connection via wi-fi or cellular and a message intended to be sent as iMessage is sent as a text message instead, more than likely the problem is at the recipient's end at the time.
My company iPhone 5 is with T-Mobile. In my office I often see my internet connection with T-Mobile swtich from LTE to 4G to EDGE and back and forth again and sometimes with one bar of reception showing and at other times 2-3. If someone tries to send me an iMessage while my iPhone 5 is swtiching from one type of cellular internet connection to another or when the iPhone has very low cellular reception, it will probably be sent as a text message is the sender has send as SMS enabled with their iMessage settings.
Additionally, I did have an SMS not go through at all to a non-iPhone person last week - despite not letting me know it didn't go through.
After a text message is successfully sent, what happens to the message after that has nothing to do with the cell phone that sent the message and you won't get a notice that the text message wasn't delivered if not. If a text message cannot be sent as the time, a red indicator will be on the message indicating the message was not sent. After being sent, no notification will be provided if the text message was not received by the recipient for whatever reason.

  • Project Leader Profile - What I should look for

    Hi:
We're facing a coming development with 8i/9iAS that has to interact with Oracle's ERP. We already know that the ERP is a complex environment, so we are looking for a person that will be the technical head of the project, since our expertise is limited to Oracle Developer and database. But we don't know exactly what kind of expertise we should ask for to the candidates. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    Javier Castaqsn

    Javier,
You should definitely look for someone with prior Oracle ERP full-cycle implementation experience (if he/she's going to be a project leader, I would look for 3-5 years' experience at least), and make sure that the person have specific expertise in the ERP modules you want to implement, e.g. just because someone knows GL and FA like the back of their hand does not necessarily mean that they know anything about OM or PO. And of course, it would be better if this person have experience with 11i, since there some additional features in 11i that is not in the older modules. Good luck.

  • Looking for information on best practices using Live Upgrade to patch LDOMs

This is in Solaris 10. Relatively new to the style of patching... I have a T5240 with 4 LDOMS. A control LDOM and three clients. I have some fundamental questions I'd like help with..
    Namely:
#1. The Client LDOMS have zones running in them. Do I need to init 0 the zone or can I just +zoneadm zone halt+ them regardless of state? I.E. if it's running a database will halting the zone essentially snapshot it or will it attempt to shut it down. Is this even a nessessary step.
#2. What is the reccommended reboot order for the LDOMs? do I need to init 0 the client ldoms and the reboot the control ldom or can I leave the client LDOM's running and just reboot the control and then reboot the clients after the control comes up?
#3. Oracle. it's running in several of the zones on the client LDOM's what considerations need to be made for this?
I am sure other things will come up during the conversation but I have been looking for an hour on Oracle's site for this and the only thing I can find is old Sun Docs with broken links.
Thanks for any help you can provide,

Before you use live upgrade, or any other patching technique for Solaris, please be sure to read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23823_01/html/E23801/index.html which includes information on upgrading systems with non-global zones. Also, go to support.oracle.com and read Oracle Solaris Live Upgrade Information Center [ID 1364140.1]. These really are MANDATORY READING.
    For the individual questions:
#1. During the actual maintenance you don't have to do anything to the zone - just operate it as normal. That's the purpose of the "live" in "live upgrade" - you're applying patches on a live, running system under normal operations. When you are finisihed with that process you can then reboot into the new "boot environment". This will become more clear after reading the above documents. Do as you normally would do before taking a planned outage: shut the databases down using the database commands for a graceful shutdown. A zone halt will abruptly stop the zone and is not a good idea for a database. Alternatively, if you can take application outages, you could (smoothly) shutdown the applications and then their domains, detach the zones (zoneadm detach) and then do a live upgrade. Some people like that because it makes things faster. After the live upgrade you would reboot and then zoneadm attach the zones again. The fact that the Solaris instance is running within a logical domain really is mostly besides the point with respect to this process.
As you can see, there are a LOT of options and choices here, so it's important to read the doc. I ***strongly*** recommend you practice on a test domain so you can get used to the procedure. That's one of the benefits of virtualization: you can easily set up test environments so you cn test out procedures. Do it! :-)
#2 First, note that you can update the domains individually at separate times, just as if they were separate physical machines. So, you could update the guest domains one week (all at once or one at a time), reboot them into the new Solaris 10 software level, and then a few weeks later (or whenever) update the control domain.
If you had set up your T5240 in a split-bus configuration with an alternate I/O domain providing virtual I/O for the guests, you would be able to upgrade the extra I/O domain and the control domain one at a time in a rolling upgrade - without ever having to reboot the guests. That's really powerful for providing continuous availability. Since you haven't done that, the answer is that at the point you reboot the control domain the guests will lose their I/O. They don't crash, and technically you could just have them continue until the control domain comes back up at which time the I/O devices reappear. For an important application like a database I wouldn't recommend that. Instead: shutdown the guests. then reboot the control domain, then bring the guest domains back up.
    3. The fact that Oracle database is running in zones inside those domains really isn't an issue. You should study the zones administration guide to understand the operational aspects of running with zones, and make sure that the patches are compatible with the version of Oracle.
I STRONGLY recommend reading the documents mentioned at top, and setting up a test domain to practice on. It shouldn't be hard for you to find documentation. Go to www.oracle.com and hover your mouse over "Oracle Technology Network". You'll see a window with a menu of choices, one of which is "Documentation" - click on that. From there, click on System Software, and it takes you right to the links for Solaris 10 and 11.
