Looking for a Fibre-Channel interface

Does there exist a Fiber Optic communications interface, specifically "Fibre-Channel" for which LabVIEW drivers exist?
Perhaps one of the select integrators may have one or know of one.

I am working a project now that includes a "Fibre-Channel" phase in a future phase. We have done a lot of research into this area and are developing benchmarking systems that will let us quantify the determinism of various transport mediums. The current implementation is building on a SCRAMnet gt fiber network to do the measurements.
If you think we may be able to help you out, you can e-mail me at

  • HP E2749A VXI fibre channel interface

Currently we are using three HP E2749A fibre channel interface cards. Unfortunately, this product is no longer supported by Agilent.
We record 24 channels of 16bit digitized data (160k samples/sec/channel) to a Ciprico RAID via a fibre controlled arbitrated loop.
I am presently investigating options to refurbish this system. The Controller used in the VXI chassis is a HP E1498A/V743
If you have a product which may fit this use or need information before responding please replay as soon as possible.

National Instruments does not have a fibre channel interface card or a product for that type of application. Good luck in your search!

  • Easiest solution for adding Fibre Channel Tape Backup to Xserve RAID setup

I'm interested in getting a Fibre Channel LTO-3 tape library such as the Exabyte 221L for my Xserve RAID/Xserve G5 setup. I realize there are SCSI LTO-3 solutions that are less expensive than FC, but I'd prefer not to have to add a SCSI card to my Xserve, mainly because I'd have to pull the video card and run the server headless (horrors!). However, I understand that I must get a Fibre Channel switch to allow the LTO library, the Xserve, and the Xserve RAID to communicate... you can't just daisy chain FC devices. The least expensive switch I can find is the new QLogtic SANbox 3050 for about $1800. For my situation, in which these will be the only FC devices I'll probably ever use, does this switch sound appropriate? The specs on the switch can be found here: http://www.qlogic.com/products/sanbox/sanbox_3050.asp.
    Xserve RAID & Xserve G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

For simple environments like yours, it's trivially easy. You must plug everything in, and you're good to go... as simple as a network switch.
Now if you start adding multiple hosts (i.e. plug in a second Xserve or G5), you need to be careful, because in the default configuration everything is "wide open," so every device can see every storage LUN. This would actually be problematic, as systems could (actually, would) corrupt each other's storage. When you get to this point, you'll need to look at either zoning the ports on the switch, or using LUN masking on the Xserve RAID to allocate specific pieces of storage to specific hosts.
But for now, just get the switch, plug everything in, and you're off.
BTW if you mark "answered" for me, versus for the thread overall, it helps me out a bit in this forum ranking system, whatever it is.
    Cheers.

  • Looking for Web2Py or Python interfacing code to DI Server

    Dear All,
I am looking for a Web2Py (python) code sample that can interface or talk with DI Server of SAP B1 say through win32 python API SOAP interface.
Some sample to get me started in the right path to connect to DI server, login and access simple SAOP service.
    Thank you very much.

I don't know if you'll find an exact sample here - you might be lucky of course, but I think it's a bit specific.
Instead, I would focus on learning the two separately; look on google for some examples of writing SOAP interfaces using Python and then also do some DI server examples.
The Python I can't help with, but for DI server you can check the SDK helpfile and go to Developers Guide -> DI Server and then under this you have lots of good sections:
System Messages: Shows how to login and get the session ID
Data Manipulation Messages: Shows how to add/update/remove objects in the DB
DI Server application gives instructions on how to set it up.
Hope it's useful, might be worth keeping thread open to see if anyone has done this before though

The first place to look for stuff like this is the vendor's web page--in this case www.watlow.com. How did I know this? I guessed. You can typically guess 90% of company websites...
In a couple minutes I was able to find your controller and a document on how to communicate with it. If you email me I can send it to you (it's too big to post...).
Next, reading the document (which by the way contains a good basic primer on serial communications)I saw that one of the protocols you can use for communicating with the 942 is Modbus RTU. I can also send you a set of modbus drivers.
Hope this helps in thermal testing your chips...

  • Nexus 56128P Fibre Channel Interface

    Hi everybody,
I'm installing a Nexus 56128P and I try to configure Fibre Channel native interface on GEM N56-M24UP2Q.
I have configured the ports to be fc interface
    slot 2
    port 1-24 type fc
Then i have reloaded the module, but no fc interface appeared (and no more ethernet interface 2/x).
I checked the license, i have the FC_FEATURES_PKG installed but "unused".
I guess i missed something, but can't figure out what.
    Any idea ?
    Julien

    see https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12254396/fc-ports-nexus-5548up
After the port type has been changed from Ethernet to FC, the FC port will not be enabled on the switch until FCOE feature is enabled:
    N5K(config)#feature FCOE
    C license checked out successfully
    fc_plugin extracted successfully
    FC plugin loaded successfully
    FCoE manager enabled successfully
FC enabled on all modules successfully
    Enabled FCoE QoS policies successfully
After that, we verify that the port type is changed successfully and the FC ports appear on the switch:

  • Looking for a neutral digital interface

I do a fair bit of voice work
I'm trying to find a good neutral  digital interface  that doesn't come with it's own mini Protools programs etc I use Adobe through an older connection system-an Omnibox for my desk top. It works wonderfully well but is not USB.  My preamp the wonderful Really Nice Preamp does not have USB outs. I need to find something that allows me to use the preamp-digital interface-USB combination for my laptop for when I'm on the road.
    Any suggestions?

If it were me, I think I'd stick with the sort of device that I already use - basic musical instrument devices that provide balanced line in (to match the balanced o/p of the pre-amp), plus a mic input or two.
This would let me work with or without the pre-amp, allowing a lot more flexibility - eg battery only working with just the laptop and usb device.
There are lots of these things from the likes of Tascam (eg US-144) or Edirol (UA-4 etc.). The obsolete but still good ones I use came cheap from ebay and are neutral enough for anything I've tried.

  • How to obtain target WWN for a LUN On Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V with Fibre Channel SAN

I have a large collection of Hyper-V hosts for which I would like to retrieve the target WNN and LUN ID for the LUNs visible on each host.  By target WWN I mean the storage array's WWN.
I have tried using the root\wmi namespace to retrieve MS_SMHBA_PORT_LUN instances, but I get 0 instances back.
I get instances of MSFC_FibrePortHBAAttributes back, but those only tell me the local host's HBA WWN, not the target information.
This information must be stored somewhere, because you can't access the LUN without it, I hope there is a way to retrieve it.  Is there?  Or is it write only during LUN setup?

  • Can Time Machine back up Fibre Channel connected drives?

    Hello All,
I am running Mac OS X 10.7.5. I am trying to back up drives connected to my tower via fibre channel using Time Machine and am getting the exclusion error that others have been reporting on Lion and Mountain Lion. In Time Machine > Options, I select a fibre channel connected drive to include it in the next backup. It disappears from the exclusion list as it should AND the properly "estimated size of full backup" is created. I select "Save." However, when I select "Options" again, the fibre channel connected drive has been RE-EXCLUDED. This happens with all of the drives connected via fibre channel.
All of the drives have unique UUIDs and display Connection Bus: Fibre Channel Interface and Connection Type: External in Disk Utility. All of the drives are formatted as "Mac OS Extended." The drives are all inside of a Facilis Terrablock 24D and are RAID5.
Before updating to Lion, we were able to back up these drives via Time Machine successfully for many months.
Does anyone know if it is possible to back up drives connected via fibre channel with Time Machine on Lion and Mountain Lion? To be perfectly clear, I am trying to simply back up these fibre channel connected drives to a Firewire connected external HD via Time Machine...NOT use a fibre channel connected drive as my Time Machine backup disk.
Your time and help is greatly appreciated!
    Best,
    LALB

Others have reported the same issue. Apparently it doesn't work.

  • Newbie question:  How do I set the input for a series of audio recordings to be different, if I only have a 2 channel interface?

I am using a 2 channel interface (Apogee Duet) and I can record a voice and guitar track fine.  My question is how do I record a third audio track after the fact?  It seems when I attempt to record an additional track, say bass for example, Logic treats it as though it is on input 1 or 2 (which hardware wise it is of course) and merges them in a sense.   I don't know how to make it a seperate independant track, despite the fact that it was recorded through an input that I also used to record something else on a diferent track.
Thanks in advance, I very much appreciate any help.

Thanks for the response.  I know it sounds ridiculously basic.  Yes I am creating a new track and selecting it.  The third track appears in the arrange window, but changes to, for example, the third track affect the 1st.  Doesn't matter if it's a 1/4 inch guitar or XLR mic.  Yes I'm listening to the headphone output from the Duet.
I think the fundamental problem is my not understanding something about mono/stereo, or prehaps input and output settings.  I just can't seem to find the appropriate controls/settings.

  • Looking for a Web Interface for Editing Data in an Oracle 10g Database

    Greetings all!
My organization is implementing Oracle 10g Release 2 Enterprise version. We have an employee who will need to edit data in the database which will hold staff phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact information. This employee will never need to administer the database or develop tables, queries, etc. They will only need to add and remove rows of data and edit text values stored in a database table.
Does Oracle 10g have a built-in, browser-based tool that can be used to edit data in a table via a friendly user interface? If no, can you please recommend an easy to use tool for editing data in an Oracle database?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Rachel

    Justin,
Thanks very much for the tip!
Do you know if Oracle 10g has any kind of built-in tool for editing data? I have heard of "The Vault", but that appears to be a tool for administering database users, reports, etc. I am looking for some kind of tool that shows the data in a grid layout (like Microsoft Excel) and allows someone to edit and save data in that grid. A web-based tool would be best, but a desktop tool (especially if it's already part of Oracle 10g) would also be good.
    Thanks again,
    Rachel

  • Baseline template - look for specific loopback interface when specifying "ip tftp source-interface"

    Hello all
I'm new to regex and I'm trying to make a baseline template, that will check our network devices for our required basic configuration.
What I'm trying to do is to make a template that will look for either a loopback0 or loopback1 interface.
If eíther one is found (the loopback interfaces will not be there at the same time) it must apply the following command:
    ip tftp source-interface loopback0 (or loopback1)
Is it even possible to make an if-then statement using regex?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards

    Yes, this can be done
#Go to the tcl shell of the device.
    C1811#tclsh
    C1811(tcl)#
#copy and paste this at the tcl prompt.
    proc intf {} {
set runningcfg [exec show run | inc ^interface Loopback]
    foreach line [split $runningcfg \n] {
    if {[regexp {interface (Loopback[0-1])} $line -> interface] } {
    ios_config "ip tftp source-interface $interface"
    return "ip tftp source-interface $interface"
    # now type the name of the proc (intf) at the tcl prompt.
    C1811(tcl)#intf
    # If loopback0 or 1 is present the tftp source interface is added to the running config.
    ip tftp source-interface Loopback0
    C1811(tcl)#

  • USCSICMD ioctl calls for Fibre Channel(FC) devices on Solaris 10?

    Hi ,
I have wrtitten a small C program that issues USCSICMD ioctl call to the tape devices attached on solaris sparc 10. I was able to get the required information from all SCSI tape devices attached using the utility. But, whenever it is run on FC attached tape drives , the program returns an error saying "Inappropriate ioctl for device".
    bash-2.05# inquiry /devices/pci@1f,4000/fibre-channel@2/fp@0,0:devctl
inquiry: /devices/pci@1f,4000/fibre-channel@2/fp@0,0:devctl: scsi inquiry failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Is it possible to make an USCSICMD ioctl on FC attached tape devices ?. Can someone please provide an example if possible.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

I don't see why not, I use the same ioctl to talk to fc-attached disk drives, and enclosure devices. I have used the same ioctl to also talk to scsi-attached tapes. Maybe this is a bug that is specific to your FC device driver or firmware, did you investigate with the HBA vendor and make sure everything is current?

Would like to use an SD card of some kind for storage. My computer is a Mac osx10.6.8 and will be using I'Movie to edit. Want it to be in HD, good still shots if possible, good sound and no more than $700. Could anyone recommend a specific camcorder or at least the specs I need to accomplish this.. Just sent back the Sony HDR-CX260V.Beautiful little camcorder but wouldn't interface with my Mac. I'm so frustrated especially because I don't know anything about camcorders or what I should be looking for. HELP?

    try this
put your tow imac side by side then plug an ethernet cable between us , ethernet logo look like that
then on each imac desable wifi ( air-port )
go to system preferences -> network , you should see somthing like that
select from Configure IPv4 to MANUALY on both imac , then fill info for ehternet exactly as folow
