Looking for a hard case

I have a 17" MacBook Pro (non-unibody) and I am looking for a good hard case for it. Not something that stays on it, but like a sleeve type thing that will protect the laptop while it's in my bag. It needs to provide protection from dents and would be great if it was padded. However, it cannot add too much bulk (some is OK) so it will still fit in my bag. Any suggestions?

I also highly recommend MacTruck for extensive travel although I don't consider doing so as overkill. I use this when traveling by plane and train. Otherwise, for everyday travel usage I use Speck cover.

  • Looking for TX hard case

I have an aulminum hard case for my TX now, but last night my wife dropped it and broke off one of the little tangs that slides into the spine of the TX. So now I'm looking for another one.
I carry my TX in my back pants pocket, so I need something that will bear up under my weight. I've had this one for a year or so and it has held up pretty well: http://www.amazon.com/Palm-TX-Armor-Case-Metal/dp/B000FV8S58
But the case does bend and I occasionally have to reshape it.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello!
Rhinoskin have put out some durable case and you can check this one out here .  Your problem is putting the device in the backpocket changes things so you really need casing with very good tensil strength.  Issue with that is that most of the alloy based ones are using anodized alluminum which is good but its relative to the cumulative stress it is subjected to over time.  Doesnt matter how much weight were talking, over time the alloy will flex and damage to the pda can occur.
Their are some titanium-based ones which can do the trick but their very costly and hard to find, oftenly made on demand instead volume.  I'm reminded of the InnoPocket TiPro Titanium Hard Cases back in the Tungsten T series but not cetain if they got one for the Palm TX. They were a little heavier than you standard alluminun casings but thats the prices for strength.

  • Looking for a Hard Case/Shell for my new Retina MacBook Pro 15"?

I am looking to buy a shell/case for my rMBP (October 2013) it hasn't arrived yet, but obviously I want it to be protected asap.
I don't know what the model number is, but it is the lower spec 15" Retina MacBook Pro that I have purchased. How can I make sure that a case I buy will fit?
Will any 15" rMBP case fit, or has the size changed for this upgrade?
I am looking for either a black/clear, shell/case that will attach to the back of the lid to protect it. I am looking on eBay at the moment, as I have a voucher to spend on there anyway. Can someone recommend a shop/seller or a particular product?
I am in the UK, so I would obviously prefer to buy from a local seller.
    Thanks!

I purchased the Hardshell Case for 13-inch MacBook. It offers a durable hardcase construction that securely covers your notebook. It provides a frosted hardshell exterior, soft-touch coating, raised rubber feet, thermal vents, and trouble-free access to all features.
    Features
    Excellent notebook protection
    Exterior rubberized soft-touch coating
Precise cut-outs for access to magnetic power cable, headphone and microphone input jacks, CD-ROM drive, battery level check button, and all side ports
Vents and rubber feet elevate notebook from surface, allowing notebook's internal fans to circulate air more freely
Simple to use and easy to clean
I really love it. My friend has dropped their macbook (the case was on) on the concrete and nothing happened to the computer.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Looking for a hard case for mac book air 11' to put into my school bag for college

i am LF a hard case for my mac book air 11' that will keep my MBA safe in my schoolbag. i use my MBA ever day in college. was wondering if someone could tell me a good one cause there seems to be so much out there. thanks

I have both the Air and Mini, and 2 mac minis.  I honestly cant decide between either of them,...my Mac Mini is the best desktop I have ever owned, however its purpose is almost totally different from that of my AIR, which is for travel, etc.
Since YOU are heading off to college and traveling, Id certainly get the AIR, between the two.
Both have the HIGHEST used resale value of any other laptop / desktop.  Both are great choices.

  • Looking for a Hard Case for my Unibody MBP?

    Small but strong please....

Yes, you do. It depends on the airport and the inspector. I also have TSA friendly bags that I have been asked to open, as have my colleagues. The decision is always at the discretion of the inspector. There is no 100% solution to not having to open your bag, TSA friendly or not.
I have noted a link to a perfect example.

  • I need help! I bought an external drive to backup the computer. but although the computer recognizes it (shows up on the right side with the icon - mybook3.0 - I cannot get time machine to look for a hard disc - it only wants to use airport!

I want to use time machine. So, I got a mybook3.0 and hooked it up. the computer recognizes it fine (shows the icon on the desktop etc) but time machine refuses to look for any hard disk, going on airport instead and refusing to let me select anything or do anything manually (buttons are not clickable - and anyway, no HD at all shows)
    I'm getting frustrated!!
    PLEASE HELP

Just to clarify - when you run Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder) the drive you bought doesn't show up in the window under your boot drive?
If it appears on your desktop, you should see it in the Disk Utility window as this displays all mounted drives.
You then click on the drive (Mybook3.0 or whatever it appears as), and choose Erase from the options on the right.
    Best Wishes.

  • Looking for a great case

Hey, I am looking for a great case that will fit my 15in MBP, one that will not only protect it if it falls, but functions like a brief case, I want a place to put pens and documents, this does not mean it has to look like a breifcase. I just want a really professional looking case that is semi tough. Any ideas?

Another option: I bought a nice one at REI for PWB in March, and now use it for MBP. Has space for my wacom tabet and also small 3x5 or so firewire HD, and of course power adapter and misc stuff. notebook compartment can be removed and carried separately. Very happy with it.

  • Looking for a 3g case with a belt clip

I don't like carrying my 3g around in my pocket, so I've been looking around for a case with a belt clip, but haven't had much luck finding one. I'm looking for something that comes with a hard case for the phone, and a clip I can just snap my phone into when I'm done using it. I have a nice incase case for it now, but I'd like to have something to clip it on my belt.

  • Looking for a clear case that protects screen and click wheel

    Hi,
I've got a new 8GB Nano. I'm looking for a case to protect it from general dings and scratches. What I'm looking for is a clear case with screen and click wheel protection. Anyone know where I can find one? So far, all I've been able to find are clear cases that protect the screen but leave the click wheel unprotected. Or is click wheel protection not that that big of a thing?
    Thanks!

There don't seem to be many cases available yet for the new Nano. I ordered one from iSkins, a company in Canada. You can check their website.

  • Looking for a leather case for the ipod Touch 4G

    Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a real *GENUINE LEATHER* case for the iPod Touch 4G, preferably one that has a belt clip.
I just wasted $34 on the new Belkin "genuine leather case with belt clip" only to find out it smelled like rubber and felt nothing like what real leather would feel/smell like. Totally disappointed in Belkin advertising their cases as genuine leather when in fact they are made of cheap synthetic leather.

You can right click your video file, go to "Get Info", and select the Video tab and change the file type to Movie, TV Show, or Music Video, and then once that video is synced to the iPod it will be sorted into the proper location.
You can also create playlists of your video content. That would be the easiest/best way to get your genre classification system going.

  • I'm looking for a good case for the 7th gen iPod classic. Not some silicon skin but a good case.  Help?

I really do want a new case for my 7th gen iPod classic. It seems there's barely anything on the market anymore except skins.  I don't want a skin. Anything still out there? Searching the web is depressing me.

I bought this hard case for my iPod. I like it but you are right, there isn't a lot of choice out there!

  • Looking For Strong Mac Case

    Hi,
    I have a 13" MacBook Air, Mid 2013.
I am really worried about dropping my MacBook and breaking it. I am looking for a reasonably priced have duty case, like the ones that snap on to it and I have full flexibility of the hinge and that.
Could anyone recommend a good case for my Mac.
    Thanks.

Having tried every brand out there, I can honestly say that Booq is one of the best!

I highly recommend their Vyper M3 sleeve too!
    Good luck!

  • Looking for a hard drive for a 2007 Macbook Pro

I am looking around to replace my 160 gig hard drive for something larger.
    These are my choices:
Hitachi 500GB Travelstar SATA 7200 RPM
    Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B - 500GB 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM 8MB
    Fujitsu MJA2500BH-G2 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB
I am just looking for something that won't wear down the battery, vibrates or produce some noises. Some speed increase would be nice if possible.
I may pick the Hitachi 500GB Travelstar SATA 7200 RPM. But I am not 100% sure if this is a good drive or not.

I would choose anything that Other World COmputing would recommend.
But before I swapped out to a 500GB drive, I would make sure I had redundant backup plans in place: both an external local drive, and offsite backup.
500GB is an awful lot of data to lose when the drive fails. And it WILL fail at some point.
What can you possibly fill up 500GB with? If movies or music, that stuff may be better off on its own, small, sleek, 7200RPM hard drive all the time (plus an offsite backup). If you're editing movies, the professionals don;t use their main drives for that - they use quality external drives for editing and storage (plus, of course, an off-site backup).
Yes, I upgraded my MacBook Pro's hard drive to 200GB (original 7200RPM option was only 100GB). But I cannot fathom - ME, personally - filling up my MacNookPro's internal drive with 500GB of important data. I have a music drive, and work on other large work files on external 7200RPM drives.
Whatever you do, please have reliable, regular backup schemes in place.

  • Looking for external hard drive for Mac book air

I'm looking for a external hard drive for my Mac book air

What features are important to you?
    Size?
    Capacity?
    Speed?
    Price?
    Reliability?
    HDD or SSD?
    Desktop or portable?
Just about any USB external drive will function properly, with only a few exceptions. I would avoid the Toshiba Canvio using USB 3.0, as it has been the topic for numerous threads here wherein users have had problems using them with the MacBook Air.
My personal favorite external HDD right now is the Seagate GoFlex, as I can use them with the Thunderbolt adapter. But I have been eyeing the new LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt.
For super speed, I use a Crucial model M4, either using the Seagate Thunderbolt adapter, or I have some mounted in USB 3.0 housings.
