Looking for a ISO for Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Volume License version.

Hi all,
We have our VL W2K3 R2 Enterprise 32bit license key already.
Trying to get a link to the .iso file for the VL license to download it.
I tried the non-VL W2K3R2 Standard version .iso from my standard TechNet subscription, of course it will not take the VL key as valid.
Where can I get the required .iso file?
Any help appreciated.

You can download the .iso by logging on to the Volume License Service Center (VLSC) site using the credentials for your volume license agreement. Product key(s) are there as well.

If you do not know the credentials you should be able to gain access if you have the license numbers, authorization numbers, original confirmation email/paperwork. If you do not have these you can contact your reseller and request that they send
a duplicate copy.
An alternative would be if you have one of the higher MSDN subscriptions you could log on and download it from there.

I don't generally spend a lot of time worrying about the OS setup these days -- I spend a lot more time getting extra performance from the Essbase side of things, when needed.
I don't know if my settings are optimial, but here's what I have:
Virtual memory: I have virtual memory set as up to 16GB on a separate partition (on a server with 8GB of RAM). Typically this Essbase server will be using 5-6GB for day to day operations with a 4-5 GB pagefile at any given time, and during intensive operations and when I shake the server to its knees with a massive ASO load/agg, the memory usage climbs.
DEP: Have it on. I don't imagine there is much to be gained by turning it off.
Processor Scheduling: Set to Background Services.
Memory Usage: System Cache
As I said, these aren't necessarily the best settings but I know they have worked for me. Other than the pagefile settings, I believe everything else is just standard for Server 2003. If I had to guess I would say that Server 2003 makes the assumption that you will be running server-type applications on it, and it leaves the option open if you wanted to tweak things for more of a desktop feel. If there is a specific Essbase performance issue that you are encountering that you want to try and address, you are better off identifying what you want to make faster, then thinking about ways to improve on it. I haven't found too many cases where there is some global setting I can crank to get better performance all around.

Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise SP2- File Share suddently no one can access. After reboot, it is back normal. Why?

We have file server, which is using windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition, Service Pack 2. Today suddently no one can access its file share. I try to login to the server and open services, but it is so slow to respond. I have to reboot the machine. After the
server reboot, it is back normal. Any one know why?
Here are the system errors shown before the machine rebooted. First question, I am not sure which error really causes the problem. The machine is set to use WSUS to get windows update. On the automatic updates, it is set to "Download updates
for me, but let me choose when to install them." Second question, why the machine is still trying to install update without permission? Please help. Thanks.

For your second question, you can Configure Automatic Updates group policy and choose
Auto download and notify for install. This option automatically begins downloading updates and then notifies a logged-on administrative user prior to installing the updates

Problem in installing Oracle 9i R2 on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise

We are having problem installing the Oracle 9i R2 Server on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition. During installation, it generates error saying "The IP Address of the machine not found". When clicking the "Continue" button, it tries to install other things but few minutes later it asks to stop complete installation or installation of that feature.
But when we installed it on Windows XP it works fine and we have no problem in configuring it. What's the problem with Windows 2003 Server?
If we drop the idea of installing it on Windows 2003 Server, can we make Windows XP maching as a Server?

ORACLE asumes that the first network device you have on your server has a fixed IP address.
Is this the case?
If not so you should install a loopback adapter as network device with a fixed IP.

Windows 8 pro is volume licensed and i cannot update to window 8.1

A month back, i bought a laptop from lenevo which has a window 8 pro (volume licensed) version. Now i am not able to update to windows 8.1 through the windows store. I use this laptop for my home use and i dont know how to update the OS now. Pls suggest
on what can be done.I cannot go back to Lenevo store because i have moved out of that state(area).

I don't have a system admin nor access to Volume License Center.
I tried to reset my pc which didn't fix the problem. I don't understand why there's a volume licensed version on this personal computer. It was never used for a corporation.
Is there anyway that I can reinstall Windows 8 ? Not reset it, but reinstall.

Generally, If it come with your computer, it should be OEM license.
Let's check as below:
click WIN+R, type "SLMGR.VBS /dli", press Enter. There will pop up this window:
From the information with red marked, you will check if it's volume license.

Very long search times from an IMac running 10.6.7 Snow Leopard when searching for files on a windows 2003 server

The issue is as follows:
The Imac is connected to the windows 2003 server via SMB type connection.
There are four sub folders in the main directory. We go to one of the sub folders in this case Server.
We go to search window and type the file name that we want to search such as test .
The choices selected for search parameters are Server for location and contains (same results if picked by file name)
Search takes roughly 6 minutes before it returns the result.
If we do the same search on the old Mac Server it will take 15 seconds to complete using same search parameters.
Any ideas on how to speed up search times to the Windows 2003 Server? I have tried going to finder preferences and removing the sharing section. That did not help.

Okay, I've....
1) Reinstalled XE, to start from scratch
2) Went in to SQL*Plus, did a "create pfile from spfile;"
3) Shutdown the database
4) Started it up in MOUNT mode
5) Ran NID, to change the database name from 'XE' to 'CTXMGMT'
6) Shutdown the database again
7) Edited the pfile to change the database name (i.e. "db_name='CTXMGMT'")
8) Started up the database
And that worked! So that's good... but now my question is:
How do I change the SID for the database? Currently, the instance name for the database is still 'XE'....
SQL> select instance_name
2 from v$instance;
INSTANCE_NAME
xe
I'd like it so a connection could be made to the database with the tnsnames.ora file looking like this:
CTXMGMT =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =

I need to know what the best practice is concerning the # of drives that should be built on a Windows 2003 server to ensure best performance and most effective back up and recovery, for both the application itself and the data base.
I'm not certain, but it may be only a 32 bit machine. I'll update this once I know for sure.

As a part of my project, i need to install the OEM 11G on windows 2003(32 bit) machines and targets also windows 2003. there i need to install again agent 11g(11.1.0.1) and target DB is 10.2.0.4.
I have done the installation of OMS successfully and installed the agent 11g on target as well. i am facing challeges in configuring the database from OMS. i tried couple of options but nothing is working out. Finally i decided to cross check the installation procedure once again with the previously completed ones. could any body share the same.
in breif i have done following.
1) installed RDBMS 11G on OMS server.
2) insalled java 1.6.18.
3) installed WLS 10.3.2
4) installed the OMS 11G(11.1.0.1)
On agent side i installed agent 11g(11.1.0.1) to monitor a database which is of 10.2.0.4 version.
agent,listeners are reflecting on OMS with up status but DB is showing as "metric collection error". i tried all the possible options like removing and reconfiguring and agent clearing and agent restart etc...but no use. also i in the Oracle installation document, they mentioned as we need to set user equavelence between OMS and agent server but not sure of this, which i have not done. is this compulsary?

Did you check if the database is configured in GC?
If you can't connect using sqlplus to the user dbsnmp make a connection to the database: alter user dbsnmp identified by <password> account unlock;
In GC go to Targets, All Targets select the DB concerned and hit Configure. Enter the dbsnmp user password etc. After a while you will see the result: DB shows Up (I hope)

Recommendations for userva option in Windows 2003

we are running ERP2005 on Windows 2003 32Bit and Oracle 10.2.
We activated the /3GB option in the boot.ini
Due to problems we wan't to activate the userva option.
Unfortunalely i can't find any recommendation for the value of userva.
Please give me an advice.

well it is as Eric already mentioned:
1st recommendation: Go for 64 Bit!
2nd recommendation:
decrease the user address space carefully if you have to.
start with /userva=2900, if the problem still happens change /userva step by step to lower values each time evaluating wether the new value has fixed the situation.
the problem with /userva is, that it shortens the virtual address space (addressable memory for normal applications). with /userva=2700 your application is able to address 2.7 GB of virtual memory, the remaining 1.3 GB can only be used in kernel mode (operating system, drivers etc). In this case (/userva=2700) your application (ABAP Report, other memory consuming programs) can only utilize 300 MB less memory compared to /userva not set.
Those ABAP reports currently utilizing 95 percent of the available address space will no longer run when /userva is set to 2700.
It is much less pain to run on 64 Bit OS - you don't have to play around with all these funny parameters.

Error while running setup.exe for oracle installation on windows 2003

I am trying to install oracle 9.2.0.1 on my windows 2003 machine and when i click on setup.exe nothing happens. when i tried to run it thru command prompt again nothing happens when i check in computer management => event views it throws following error.
The application, C:\DOCUME~1\barb\Local Settings\Temp\1\OraInstall2006-08-11_05-19-46AM\jre\bin\javaw.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 08/11/2006 @ 05:19:56.356 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4CF9A0 (jvm!JVM_TraceMethodCalls)
can anybody suggest me what could be the problem or i will have to install jvm first and then try installing oracle?

Yes, as long as you can display what you need on the XP
desktop, you should be good to go.
Keep in mind that your best result will likely be obtained by
creating the voiceover as a separate process and not while you are
recording the initial movie.
Also, you may discover that the remote destop won't paint
quite fast enough so Captivate will record "blank screens" here and
there. Where you notice this happening, press the Print Screen key
to force additional screen captures. It's always easier to delete
unwanted slides than it is to re-create them when needed.
