Looking for a Java Runtime for lion 10.7.3

Can somebody tell me, how to install a "java Runtime" on my lion 10.7.3
Yesterday I updated to Lion, and now a lot of really important programs do not work anymore, always with the question:
"Install a java runtime" - and when I do the suggested software update, it stop after a time with the message "No software available"
What can I do?

Alternatively launch the Java Preferences in the Applications/Utilities folder, that will prompt whether you want to install Java or not.
Software update isn't showing you anything because Java needs to be installed first, which it isn't by default. You either go through the Java Prefernces or download and install manually. After that Software Update will notify you of future updates for Java, although if you do that today with above methods you'll have the latest version

    I have the same problem.  It is not possible to launch the "Java Preferences" app.  When I do, I get the error message:
    'To open “Java Preferences,” you need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet.'
    I am *most certainly* connected to the internet, since I'm posting to this forum.

    Virtual Memory of tomcat(version is 6.0.35) is very high and jvm crash even though we decrease java heap size from 1024M to 500M.

    HASPJava.dll is used by verification  License and is invoked less and can't use a lot of native memory.
    Our business is communicating between java and COM component. In order to implement it, we used JavaCom to generate java class for COM component.
    Memory of COM component is little, but Native Memory is high.
    Who used JavaCom and did you meet this problem?

  • Smallest OS for running Java runtime?

    I have some mother board and memory, but no harddrive. I am just wonder if there is any linux based OS that I can install Java runtime into, and as small as possible? I want it small beacause I want to use compact flash. I think it is a good idea if I can run my java programs on it.
    If you know one that is already available, please let me know. If not, I may try to make one myself, and will share others.

    Well, we (at school) created a linux for cf-flash-cards and it has about 30-40mb, but no graphical interface. With 50-60mb I am sure it would work withought any problems with graphical interface and Java.
    But have a look at Knoppix - a linux which runs from CD and should be able to run java withought problems...

    I recently installed Lion and am happy with most of it, except for Java. I get a message that tells me that I need to run java runtime, but that I am not connected to the internet. It states that I must be connected to the Internet before I can run it, but I am connected to the internet. I don't know what to do. I have only had this MacBook Pro for less than a month and am trying to figure it out, but it isn't as easy as most Mac people had me believe. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

  • Where do I get Java Runtime for Snow Leopard

    Hi,
    I'm doing some design work for a programmer. and last month he told me that mine was probably outdated, and that I needed the latest JRE (version 7u5) to run his .jar app. I don't really want to use a PC for that...so I'm trying to get this running on my Mac.
    I went to oracle's website and the latest update is for Lion, I don't know where to find the latest one compatible with now leopard. Does anyone where this is?
    And another question, does anyone if that installing JRE if this could compromise the security of the Snow Leopard?

    Why not? It's a simple thing to dual-boot and you get to run the appropriate Java JRE on your Mac. The only expense is the $20 Lion costs and the time to DL if from the MAS. Do note that you have to get a redemption code via e-mail from its online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. That allows you to run both OSs, get the job done, and, when finished, you can always erase the Lion volume, leaving you exactly where you are now. BTW, if you do DL Lion, quit the installer and save a copy of that Install Mac OS X Lion.app so you don't have waste resources DLing it again, either to reinstall it or recover it. The ill-designed installer deletes itself during the installation process.

  • Different behaviour ABAP vs JAVA Runtime for mixed value in total row

    I hope you may have anr good idea on my issue as I couldn't find anything in OSS messages or other source to solve the issue.
    Description:
    I have a query ,where we calculate sales variance ( current versus prior year) over several countries. Country is shown in row, where so the key figures (3x)  current sales, prior sales and sales variance is displayed in columns.
    Issue:
    Current and prior sales is not  displayed on 'overall result' as the sum over all countries is a mixed value of different currencies and therefore is displayed as * value. This is totally correct.
    However sales variance is displayed differently in ABAP Web runtme to JAVA WEB runtime
    ABAP Web runtime -> mixed value is displayed as * value
    JAVA Web runtime -> mixed values is calculated and displayed regardless of mixed currencies
    So please let me know, if anyone had the same experience and would have a nice solution or hint for that issue

    Hi Christian,
    Did you check the display options in your Qurey Designer?
    If you don't find, please use T-code RSRT may be you may find a helpful option.
    Concerning the display of currencies, I think that you need to configure a parameter in T-Code SPRO.
    finally, the support package 08 of you BW version is old, may be you need to upgrade it.
    In my society, we resolved many issues by updating our support packages.
    But ask your administrators about consequences before making it.

  • Ideas needed for easy java runtime roll-outs

    On the cusp of Sun's newfound enthusiasm for Java everywhere I felt I had to post a few questions on the state of the runtime installers. We've been having awful problems getting the runtime installed on clients; Windows XP boxes are a particular problem as users have a very restricted set of privileges and write access - meaning that the runtime installation has to be run by someone with Administrator rights. This just isn't practical when we're trying to roll out a Java Web Start solution enterprise-wide.
    In an ideal world I suppose the runtime would be delivered pre-installed and big pat on back for getting Dell & HP to agree to this; but even with their support they'res still going to be a lot of Java unfriendly PC's out there.. Anybody got any clever ideas on routes around these problems.. I've tried to document some of our frustrations in the first part of this document

    Operation in Lockdown Environments
    To decrease support costs, many

    it also requires administrator intervention
    whenever a new application needs to be

    has greater privileges than the user
    - As the user, which is the default behavior

    I've also run across "Provide .MSI file for Java, to deploy Java using active directory" (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4854974.html). It appears Microsoft Installer might be the answer to both enterprise installation and the admin rights installation bugbear which really prevents us from offering users an easy install path. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has found any ways around these problems, are their any ms admins out their who've already repackaged the installers as msi packages and got the above deployments to work? Comments? Anyone?
    ..Finnaly (and can't resist a winge here) I find Sun's renewed interest in Java on the Desktop all very laudable; but the runtime support for Java Web Start and the Window ActiveX AutoDownloader are completely out-of-step. Web Start users still can't access
    1.4.1_01, 1.4.1_02 or 1.4.1_03 runtimes from Sun's servers (as per the jnlp specs) (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4827788.html) and support for other versions is very limited and always painfully slow coming online (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4836169.html) (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=38&thread=366655).
    I understand these are special installers and require extra development alongside the better known .exe versions (which have they're own chequered history with XP & InstallShield issues). But come-on Sun, a little more forethought and support - please..

    Does your msi just unpack the files or will it attempt to make the registry changes / os bindings that java plugin & java web start need?
    The way around the privs issues with msi's needs some security policy settings being made - I'm assuming these can be done by the domain administrator for all its users - but I'm out of my depth here; this is only a solution for organisations with enforced polices ~ but very important nevertheless.
    Sun seem to have attempted this in the past, but they're seems to have been a regression since; the following bug report suggests some manual registry settings that might effect the required changes.

    But I couldn't get these to work with the (purloined) 1.4.2beta msi, nor the java update beta test (v5.5.5). What I'd really like to know is how to setup a group policy to achieve the same with an msi package that really works.. and have the details about how to setup an msi deployment domain-wide.. the whitepaper suggests both are possible with windows installer.

    and explain the method i.e the step by step basis on how it is being done??

    There are various whitepapers and the like on this.
    As far as which objects may be collected, it's just any object that isn't referred to - directly or indirectly - by one of the root set of threads in the JVM.
    Collecting algorithms vary from jvm to jvm. You'd do better to search the web for a whitepaper on the subject.
