Looking for a little more info on Playstation 3 on Apple 20" display
Sorry to ask for more info on this. I did find some other threads, but looking for a bit more direction.
First, let me say I have a bunch of old tube TV's and am looking to purchase a Playstation 3. Using Playstation 3 on a tube TV seems kind of stupid, especially when I have a great LCD monitor sitting right on my desktop.
I looked at solution from Elgato. However they said they are not making any more units and when it sells out it is gone. So I am a little weary of purchasing something that may no longer be supported. Their solution does provide video capture and DVR capabilities as well, which I could also use.
Other then that, I am wondering if there are any other solutions that people could recommend. I do plan on buying a LCD or Plasma TV in the near future, but until then, I would like to purchase a Playstation 3. Just looking for any advice of any kind from others. Thanks.

if so HDMI to DVI will not work well EyeTV from Elgato is still in the Mac store near me I have the 200 FireWire you want the 250 USB2 to do live. I have had the 200 FW for three years it is great.

I would if you don't want to spend allot on a 1080p LCD (being more then 2k) The Mitsubishi LT-37131 LCD Flat Panel HDTV ($1,699) . Sony & Samsung both are the same LCD. Mitsubishi is better then Samsung/Sony allot better when used with a computer (it is the only new LCD maker that has a VGA & DVI port just for Computers)

The hard drive on my MacBook died and I had it replaced. Now I can't locate my website files and every time I try to open my finder/idisk it looks for a name and password (even reset my apple id as prompted) I keep being told that it's the wrong name or password? Any suggestions out there

However, what I need is
for every unique ID in table1, I need the maximum date for in table2 but given that there needs to be a precedence on types in a predefined order, that order being
type4 trumps type2 which trumps type3 which trumps type1.
therefore the query I'm looking for will return the type, type4 and it's max date even if other types exist. If no type4's exist for a link from table1.id in table2 then return type2 and it's max date and so forth.
essentially my query should return
ID TYPE MAX_DATE_CREATED
a type4 04-MAR-12
b type2 23-APR-12 (since it has no type4 and type2 trumps the other)
c type4 04-MAR-12
d type1 03-MAR-13 (the highest precedence is type1 and it's highest date is 03-MAR-13)

I have achieved this using some odd SQL where I use CASE to score the type against the precedence and then sum the total in an aggregate super query but as I say, it runs like a pig, my real dataset is much bigger than this. Hope there's a nice chap/lady out there who rises to this challenge.

Would you like to be even more helpful? Post your best attempt at a query. Even if it performs really poorly, it can help illustrate what you need to do, and maybe give ideas about how to do it. It could be that a small change in what you already have is all that's needed.

PC guy look for iMac w/ FCE info
I have been researching FCE/HD on the 'net and spent the afternoon at the local Mac store playing with 24" iMac and iMovie & iDVD (they did not have a machine with FCE/HD on display) This was the first time I had ever touched a Mac. I have most of my questions answered but am looking for some unbiased input on three iMac options. Specifically I am trying to decide if cost is justified on the following three options:
1) 2.16Ghz v 2.33Ghz processor speed; $250 difference
2) 1gb v 2gb memory; $175 difference
3) 128mb v 256mb video card; $125 difference
I already have a house full of PCs so I will be adding the iMac to my collection and my intent is to have it used solely for video editing/authoring.

Planning to get a warranty for my iMac, more info inside...
Technically, it's my boyfriend's iMac, but as I'm more aware of what we need exactly, it'll explain below.
About two months ago the WiFi network I had set up was hacked by 14 people. I spent about an hour cleaning out the router, changing passwords, SSID's and encrypting the network moreso than it was prior.
After that I downloaded a free trial of 'Virus Barrier' as I have zero trust of McAfee (the only other option I could find).
After the trial ran out I deleted the icons as I'm not very familiar with Mac's and could not figure out if that would completely remove the software or not (I don't believe it did).
I use GoogleChrome as our browser, while running Netflix or just turning it on (doing anything really) we get asked to approve for 'KsFetch' or 'Kfetch' to open a port. I did a little reading on this and did/have not found anything saying it is/was a threat, so I allow(ed) it.
Due to the fact that our browser runs increasingly slow regardless of the fact that I consistantly delete cookies and history, I'm interested in having a technician who's more familiar with Mac's than myself; run diagnostics on the computer and basically just run a little 'check-up' and make sure it's okay.
I think the slowness of the internet and the unresponsive browser may be due in part to our router which I don't believe is fully equipt to handle the amount of bandwidth that we use. But just to be on the safe side considering this was a very expensive computer, I want it looked into.
So my question is (after all of that mess), if we get a warranty, would it cover general diagnostics? And Which warranty would be best (assuming there are variable kinds)?
If anybody with vast knowledge of Mac's and their upkeep reads this, would you happen to know if there may be something wrong with the computer?
Earlier this morning it smelled a bit like burning plastic, it is generally used all day than off all night, after about ten minutes the smell went away (this was before I turned it on.).

Looking for Bookmark and Logon info replacements for similar win apps.

I used Favorites for bookmarks and RoboForm to fill in logon info. I need to find a new approach...I use a combination of macs and pcs AND IPHONE 3G.
For bookmarks, a web based service sounds logical. It looks like del.icio.us is one of the best...it seems to be featured on many web sites, easy to use, works across all platforms and browsers. Do anyone have any comments or other suggestions?
For logon info, I am thinking of 1Password mainly because they have an IPHONE 3G client. Any comments or suggestions?
It would be nice if one web based applicaton could do both, but I have not found one.

bobIf you're switching from using a PC to a Mac, then you don't need to synchronize any bookmarks; you can just keep them in your browser, like nearly everyone else. Why reinvent the wheel when the one you have works perfectly well?

First of all, I'm glad to finally see Creative have decided to offer support to those enthusiast that would like to use their own HIFI speaker system, instead of a PC speaker system....thumbs up!
However, I have a few questions/worries to this new unit.
What are the specs of the ADC's?(like: bit conv. resolution, SNR, THD...) Remember HIFI systems are of higher quality than PC speaker system. Which translates in lower quality sound being more noticeable!
And secondly, I'm a little worried with the latency. 50ms sounds high to me...
When I'm using my MIDI keyboard with Reason and chooses a 50ms latency. The delay between me pressing a button and the sound to come out of my speakers is very noticeable, resulting in annoying me.
I'm fearing this scenario will repeat with a very fast action game(just examples: Counter Strike/Unreal Tournament series).
Have Creative tested and made sure, the delay is not noticeable when firering a gun in a fast action game?(I'm guessing you have...but I want to be sure! )

Young CC user looking for a little help
Hi. I am a student user of many of Adobe's products, and I recently began using the Creative Cloud service, which is currently £15 a month here in Britain but will be hiked to £22.50 a month next year. Since I don't really work much yet (I do a few design/film jobs here and there), the whole thing feels a bit expensive. I do graphic design, photography, film-making and a little bit of web design, which is obviously a lot! Moreover, I am really frustrated with the recent hacks, and as a result I have been consolidating my future with the software. Since the web side of Adobe is neither too unique nor essential, I do not feel so bad losing them. However, programs like Photoshop and After Effects are really irreplaceable, so I am considering purchasing the Production Premium CS6 package for Mac on a student discount, which is around £470 on the Adobe website as an alternative to continuing next year with CC. I own a Mac and a Windows-based laptop, and obviously CC suits this better. All in all, this is a bit of a dilemma, and I'm struggling to come up with a resolution. Does anyone know somewhere I can get the Production Premium cheaper, will I still be able to buy CS6 in June when my year's worth of promotional CC runs out, could I face compatibility issues and, of course, does anyone have any suggestions? All help would be greatly appreciated- thank you!

LabVIEW as ActiveX Client of Word 97 -- need just a little more info!
Am using the word.llb with LV as a client of Word 97. I've browsed the bookstores but can't find any answers. I'm looking to modify the Word 97 program by saving the written document (as .txt not .doc) and closing out Word. Where do I go to find the correct values for setting parameters like NoPrompt in the Save Invoke Node under Documents? As you can see, am very novice level with ActiveX.
Can't answer straight out but can give guidence.
The ActiveX stuff is genearally aranged the same way as the drop-down menus. It you can find in the drop-downs, a similar approach can be used to do it via activeX.
Another clue.
Install help for VBA. It will show you how to do things in VB and the same aproach used in their examples can be used in LV.

I Wish for a little more IQ in AME when dealing with TIFF Sequences !!!
1)
I drop a movie into AME (let us assume a .MOV) called MVI_7899.MOV which I want to convert to a TIFF sequence.
So far so good.
I set my parameters etc and choose an output destination.
I click render
Let us assume that my .MOV has 1800 frames.
AME names my new movie as follows
MVI_78990000
thru to
MVI_78991800
Any other app that I have ever been working with would have the chops to add an "_" (Underscore) character BEFORE adding the sequence number.
I SURE would wish for such in AME>>>>> If NOT already possible.

Also, I think there should be a preference called "Automatically Create Folder for Image Sequences"
This would create a folder with the name of MOV file and put all the sequences inside of it. THat would SAVE time. LOTS.
3)
Also, I think it would be fair to assume that anyone dropping a MOVIE into AME does NOT wish to create ONE tiff image from that whole movie but a TIFF Sequence. Choosing Adobes TIFF presets will NOT tick the "Export as Sequence"Parameter
4) Last but not least
Why on earth is it not possible to drag n drop a tiff sequence folder onto AME. I have to double-click in the source name view and then navigate to the sequence I want to import.
5) Ok LAST wish
When having navigated to a TIFF sequence I cant believe I have to check - Import as sequence - This parameter, in book, should be ticked by default.
At least I know of NO ONE.. Wanting to convert ONE single tiff frame to H264..
Perhaps the guys that make this app could consult a little with folks working with image sequences ;-)
Afterall, if you have a RAID0 system - movies converted to image sequences are going to beat the performance of ANY codec available on the planet currently.

FWIW, several of these issues are already logged internally, and are on the long list of improvements for the next version of AME.
Specific responses to each of your requests:
1) Yep. After Effects does this. AME should, too.
2) You're preaching to the choir here. I'd love to see AME and AE both adopt this feature.
3) I get frustrated by this, too. Export As Sequence is not enabled by default for any of the still formats except DPX. Definitely want to fix this.
4) AME isn't quite smart enough to distinguish a folder of individual TIFF files from a folder containing a TIFF sequence. Same reason that you can't use sequence files as a source in a Watch Folder. Definitely something we want to fix.
5) Yep. After Effects does this. AME should, too.
