I live in Tempe Arizona and am learning JDeveloper using the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook. I would like to find someone locally that I could use as a mentor as I have questions that I cannot find the answers to. Is there soneone in the Phoenix area that would be willing to help me?

I would like to get better control over Zooming. The Zooming I found in AE did not function when
dragged it into my effects controller...Is the only Zoom control really the "Scale" as found in Prem-Pro?
I could not find it in AE. I wanted to zoom over the shoulder of my actor and concentrate on what my Actor is looking at/pointing at. I could not find where that effect is at in AE.

Are some of the effects only applicable to one or the other? IE: Movies or stills? If so is there a
manual that states what can be used with what? I tried dragging some of the effects into my effects area and they would not populate. IE: Zoom Forward. Only used for Text?

Looking for Xcode training resource using C++

I have been programming for over twenty years in the CAD (Computer Aided Design) field, and I would like to start programming on the Mac. I have owned various Apple computers since 1987 (Apple IIGS, SE30, ... G5), and I used to code on the Mac using Hypercard back in the late 80'sm early 90's. But all my work related programming has been on other computers, UNIX based, DEC VAX, and now for the last ten years the PC using Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET 2003. I'm really not that old, I just started coding when I was very young.
I have always loved the Mac and it is the only computer I have at home. So now I want to start using the Xcode environment. But I would really rather just stick with C++ since that is what I've been using for the last decade or so.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a good resource (book, manual, etc.) that teaches the Xcode environment using C++ instead of Objective-C?

Xcode is just an IDE. You probably need to make a decision about what API or application framework you want to use.
If you really must use C++, you'll probably have to use Carbon, which exports C APIs. There are some cross-platform app frameworks in C++, such as Qt or wxWidgets, but they're either not free or provide a poor user experience. There don't really seem to be any recent books which detail modern best practices in Carbon, but take a look at http://www.carbondev.com/site/?page=CarbonBooks
Most people coming to the platform go down the Cocoa route. Really, if you know C (which you do if you know C++) and you are comfortable with OO concepts, then learning the Obj-C language is just a case of sitting down with Apple's guide for an afternoon. Cocoa brings lots of new concepts to the table, but you'll have an initial barrier to learning an API/framework whatever you go with... Sticking to C++ because it's "what you know" is almost certainly disingenuous.

Looking for Code Review Resources

We have completed a complex project using jakarta struts and are in beta testing at the moment.
Would like to have someone review our code but we have not been able to find expierienced developers in our (physical) area.

How to look for a local file ?

I 've completed an app and wrote a documentation (word-document).
I would like my app to find the location of this document wherever it is on the local hard-drive.
That is,when the user presses Help,the program should find the file document.doc and invoke winword.exe document.doc .
How can the app find the file even if it is in a complete different directory?

Well, you start at the root and either iteratively or recursively do a search of the present directory and all subdirectories. Recursively the type of search is called a breadth first or depth first search.
Once you find the doc, you can invoke winword with a product from neava.com called coroutine.

Looking for local VRU-PIM TCP port

Hi Team,
I am setting a VRU-PG to connect an external IVR, however I couldn't find anywhere what is the TCP port number used by the vrupim.exe process to open our firewall port accordingly.
Is the VRU port dynamic ? "The port Port Utilization Guide for Cisco Unified Intelligent Contact ManagementEnterprise & Hosted Release 8.0" document mentions that for GED-125 the server Protocol/Port is TCP 5000–5001.
However in my case the local TCP port of vrupim.exe keeps changing. Whenever I cycle the PG it is changed to 1102, or 3352, 3407, 3443 etc..

I am looking for the local port range which is used by the the VRUPIM.EXE process which is at the moment 2481 (see belloww). This is because the is a firewall on the remote site, where the VRU server is located, and they need to know which are the ports to open.

Looking for a real mentor

I am new to the programming world in general and I have been getting used to the programming mindset and reading like a med student while practicing in Xcode.
I am looking for a local, experienced Mac developer with patience to instruct and also "look over my shoulder" while I code my first apps. Mainly I need someone to tell me "there is an easier or better way to do that" or "you idiot" or "read this chapter" or something along those lines. I am brand new to programming, but have a high aptitude for learning and retaining. I have many questions and need some one on one instruction since there are not really any classes that are cost effective nearby. Consider it propagating the species or something cool like that.
In return, I know many projects that need experienced contract developers .
I am in the Fort Lauderdale area.
I also know of many people in the area that are interested in the same so maybe we can get a class together and you can charge them for the classes...Just a thought.

Looking for a comprehensive place to learn FCP from ground up

I am from the radio side of the tracks, doing sound production on PCs for the last 20 years, but I have now started my own mobile sound and lighting service *which I had done on the side of radio for the past two decades
My wife and I have decided to add video production to our services when we can finally use the FCP software efficiently and professionally:)
I am just looking for a good resource to get up to speed with these programs. I bought the FinalCut Pro 2 Upgrade kit and I had FC4 from years ago to upgrade from. I am also using Logic's entire suite on a current Mac Pro.
So...we have the hardware, we have the software, but lack all of the knowledge. My wife and I are sponges for new hobbies and we are both computer savvy and highly efficient in sound editing programs like Cool Edit Pro/Currently Adobe Audition...SAW, some Dalet and a ton of Prophet/Next Gen experience.
Anyone that could point me to a great website (I realize this one is phenomenal, but you guys are so far above my head) but it does lack an ABC type tutorial. Also, a good publication...There isn't much in the Mac section at Barnes and Noble and nothing on FCP.

If you prefer books, the Apple Pro Training Series is, I think, the way to go. There are some duds in the series every now and then but all the Final Cut Pro books I've read are nice. Like many books on the subject, they include footage for you to work with.
If you're into video-based training, I'm a big fan of Ripple Training. I'd have no clue how to really work Color otherwise.

Looking for XSERVE consultant / remote help

I am a general IT consultant that has been tasked with preparing an XSERVE (OSX server 10.6) web server to run WordPress and some other PHP things with specific requirements. I need to update the PHP version so that it has the mcrypt library, as well as fix MySQL, that appears to be half working. There is also an existing site that cannot be broken. Then, I need to create a sub-domain for development. Is there anybody that can help me accomplish these tasks. I atempted to do my self, but immediately broke MySQL-- thankfully I cloned the system and was able to restore.

If you want to take another stab at this, probably the easiest path is to search for a MAMP package. If you are on 10.6 and using Apple's tools, you are behind on all pieces in MAMP (Mac OS X, Apache, Mysql, and PHP). While this will decouple the services from Apple's tools, you will be able to stay current and customize as needed without the fear of breaking everything.

Looking for good book on using DSLR for shooting video

I recently purchased a new Canon t3i DSLR. I've been watching videos on YouTube and it seems like this camera is capable of taking great HD video. My test videos look nothing like these examples. I am looking for a good resource that will teach me what settings to use, especially manual settings for shooting videos. Of course it would be great to find something specific to my camera, but I'm sure that the techniques will apply to most DSLRs.

SCOM - -500 Internal Server Error - There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed

Need your assistance on the issue that we are facing in prod environment.
We are able to open web console from remote machine and able to view monitoring pane as well as my workplace folders from console . Able to view and access alerts and other folder in the monitoring pane. We are able to view and access My Workplace folder
and able to view the reports in Favorite Reports folder. But when I click on run Report we are getting the below error "500 Internal Server Error - There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."
In our environment we have 3 servers one is SQL server and two are SCOM servers. Please advise how to fix this issue. Do we have to do any thing from SQL End?
Errors: Event ID 21029: Performance data from the OpsMgr connector could not be collected since opening the shared data failed with error "5L".
Event ID 6002 : Performance data from the Health Service could not be collected since opening the shared data failed with error 5L (Access is denied.).
