Looking for a loud wired headset

I have an E71 and I like to listen to podcasts etc while on the train/plane.  I find the supplied headset (HS-47) has not got enough volume to make it over background noise.  I have made sure the music player is on full volume etc, but it just is not enough - particularly spoken word stuff.  I need a wired headset  - with a microphone   - in case the phone rings!
I can see some options - WH 500 looks like a likely contender.  Anyone got any suggetions - It looks like the WH 500 will need a jack plug adaptor.. which is a shame.
Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance
Andy

I'd imagine that the reason you cannot find a loud headset is because of the 100dB noise level limit in the EU (Mainly France)
This article details the iPod, http://news.cnet.com/2100-1040-960211.html however I'm under the impression that every EU audio device carries the same crippling problem with the audio including Nokia Handsets.

  • Software Installation error for the WoW wired headset

I just got my new WoW headset in the mail, so am in the process of getting it set up. So I went on to the soundblaster website to find the software, got the Windows 7 64 bit version, as that is what I have.
Problem is, when I went to actually install it after downloading, it gave me a fatal error towards the end of the process, and it has been consistently giving it to me now every time I try to do it. The error code that it gave me to bring up with the site was:
    "Error I-001"
It gives me this error after I choose all the options in the installer, and it actually gets to the installation process. If anyone could let me know what I ought to do about this, please let me know!

I am betting there is a resident portion of the registry that did not get cleared out. Something that was modified or added. There are several routs you can go to check this.
    1. Login to regedit. Go to HKLM (Hkey_Local_Machine)/system/current control set. Then look under enum/root and look for creative related stuff. Confirm it by checking the dwords associated. Delete them. Then do the same thing under services not enum/root and remove creative assoicated items. Then check under software/microsoft/windows/current/run and make sure that the creativ associated items are removed. Also check in that same area under run once.
Another option that might make things more clear cut would be run regmon. (You can get this from sysinternals.com (will redirect to microsoft.) or if you know the exe or can figure it out it is live.sysinternals.com for the non MS rebranded versions.
Run Regmon and then do the install again. Then you will need to stop the regmon monitoring and go and see where the installation was looking in the registry since support is not being helpful in the matter.
Another utility that might help at that point is filemon. It monitors and logs all filesystem changes while it is running. (Can be painful to dig through all of these mind you.)
I hope my suggestions help. DO NOT edit the registry yourself if your not absolutely sure of what you are removing. Some of the changes will require recursive permission changes in the registry. If you hose your registry btw your fubared and will need to start completely over. Possibly even reimage the system so ALWAYS backup the registry or portion there of before making changes. (Can be done from within regedit.)
Again I hope the above is helpful.

    Afternoon all
I'm in the market for a cost effect headset kit for my QS 2002.... so I can tune into my MLB games quietly... any ideas?
Any links to a workable solution?

  • Looking for a Skype handset/headset solution

Anyone know if there's a good "working" handset/headset solution for SKype and Lion? I've had to throw my FR33.1 Ipevo USB phone as Lion/Skype/ipevo not playing together nicely  ;-(

Just thought I would ESOP myself and offer others out there some advice . Plantronics headsets, USB, work a treat!

  • HT204389 I am looking for a descent bluetooth headset that works well with siri... any suggestions?

I seem to not be able to find any bluetooth headset that really works will with siri... are there any?

The iPad does not print via Bluetooth, unless there's a third-party app somewhere that supports that (which I doubt, but I don't say anything is impossible). The iPad prints only via WiFi, and only to printers that support AirPrint or that are connected to a computer that does. If you look to the right under "more like this" you'll find other discussions on this same question, but none offer any really good solution that I have seen.
    Regards.

  • Looking for descent, affordable wired router so I can hook up XBox 360-iMac

I just got an XBox 360, and I'd like to use the XBox Live features. Could anyone suggest a dependable, wired router that wouldn't cost much more than fifty dollars? I really have no need to go wireless, and besides I'd have to buy the wireless adaptor for the XBox 360 if I did. There's also usually at least one or two Bit Torrents running on my G5 iMac.
More importantly, I'd like to know if having the XBox Live online would interfere with the bit torrents running on the iMac, and should I expect to see a major decrease in upload/download speed on running torrents?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Visit DealMac and see what router deal they have located. Typically in the Sunday paper you can find several for $20 or less after rebate.

  • Nice wired headset for Lumia (tested i-Con and 920...

Received a Sony MDR-EX650-AP wired headset (ear buds) and it works a treat on the Lumia i-Con and Lumia 920, tested for hands free calls and music controls, wired headsets conserve energy by not having to constantly recharge bluetooth headsets and the power draw on the handset for bluetooth connection, wired headset also improves on audio qulaity over Bluetooth.

Another wired Sony headphone / headset, works with Lumia's mentioned in post, the Sony XBA A2  , and the music / call button's work as they should. Were the button design is a very good design in how to reduce the amount of moving parts, dropping the volume button, and keeping to one button pressed once / twice / three times, would you pay for the additions of a button for stop / play, a button for forward / reverse and buttons for volume, but then all the additional buttons is only going to add to the rising sea levels.

  • Looking for headset

    Hi everyone
I just upgrade to 2.0 iphone software and am looking for a good compatible headset at reasonable price.
With the 1.1.4 I was using two plantronics models. They work for a while and then start to malfunction w the iphone. Some friends dont recommend the apple headset.
    Thanks for your advise

I use Ultimate ears and have been very happy with them.

I don't know what is reasonable to you, but these have been very good for me and well worth the price.
I'm sure there are many good makes and models out there.

  • Wired Headset

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good wired headset that i can use? i don't like the one that comes with the iPhone.

There aren't many. Etymotic HF2's are very good -- about 179.99 with the same cord controls/mic as on the iPHone, but many people don't like the very poor Bass sound you get with music. I tried a pair and none of the three different shaped buds gave me the bass sound I want on my iPod.
I have the Vibe duo headset -- it's awesome - gives great sound, looks fashionable, and is about as comfortable as any earplug type headset you will get. It also has all the phone/iPod controls on a small control on the right headset cord that works really well.
Of the two, I would recommend Vibe Duo's anyday -- there are also three or four other brands of headsets that now work with mics/controls, and a google search for iPhone Headset will bring up all kinds of reviews for you.

  • Looking for a wired headset

    Hi Folks -
I have an iPhone 3G and am looking to get an old school wired headset. Something similar to what is pictured here http://tinyurl.com/aczun5 . I would like to keep one in the car, and have another for the house. With my over-sized ears the Apple ear buds fall right out of my ears, and I want to avoid having to deal with charging up a bluetooth headset. Any options anyone can suggest? Much thanks.

  • Looking for wired headset options

    Hi Folks -
I have an iPhone 3G and am looking to get an old school wired headset. Something similar to what is pictured here http://tinyurl.com/aczun5 . I would like to keep one in the car, and have another for the house. With my (over-sized) ears the Apple ear buds fall right out of my ears, and I want to avoid having to deal with charging up a bluetooth headset. Any options anyone can suggest? Thanks!
    - Jorma

    Hello Jorma.
Are you certain this is what you want - an old school wired headset which probably is not compatible with the iPhone 3G for placing and receiving calls while using the headset?
More than likely the type of headset pictured would not be compatible with the iPhone 3G for placing and receiving calls, or I should say, would probably not automatically mute and stop the song that is playing when a call comes in with the music starting again where the song was paused when receiving a call. There are some 3rd party earbuds available which include a microphone similar to the Apple earbuds included with the iPhone 3G, and a mechanism to forward to the next song or pause a song. I have a pair of Ultimate Ears, which aren't cheap but are excellent quality, and include inserts of various sizes for the best fit.

I believe there are others available which are similar and less expensive.

Would there be any recommendations for a Wired Headset with a 3.5Mm jack for headphones for a Nokia Lumia 900. I have tried the Nokia AD-54, you can hear the sound but sound quality is poor. • Wired headset for 8310?

Is it possible to use a wired headset with boom microphone with the 8310 curve?  If so does anyone know of a brand and model that would work?  I ordered one that was recommended on another thread but when it came in it had two 3.5 MM plugs and therefore wouldn't work.  I want to use this to listen in on conference calls while driving.  Thanks.

I am sorry my english is not very good and I don't know what a boom microphone is (on the internet I only found stuff that look like plush with a long stick for making movies).
anyways, the official wired headsets are here :

  • Wired Headset for Straight Talk E71-2

Has anyone found a wired headset (Nokia or other) that works with the E71 from Straight Talk?  I purchased the Nokia HS49 because it states it is compatible on the Nokia website, but it DOES NOT work.  Only get sound out of one side and the mic does not work.  It looks like there is something funky about the way the headset jack is set up on this phone.  I tried a bunch of other 2,5 mm headsets I have around, and none will work.

Looks like it takes a connector with 3 conductors (black rings)

    Finally Success
I placed an order on Ebay with Mobilex Electronics in NY for a Nokia headset (one earphone with mic and remote to answer/end call) and a Nikia USB data cable. The order was placed late Monday night and I got the stuff today!
The good news is I finally found a wired headset that works with the ST E71. It is the Model: Nokia WH-100 / HS-104. It cost a whopping $4.99 with free shipping. I will definately deal with this seller again! Any questions, give a yell!

  • Looking for a way to determine wich Network adapters are truly Wired ethernet.

I'm Working on a little app that is going to validate that the machine is connected to a wired network before we allow it to start a re-installation of the operating system. Our wireless net works great for installed systems (they do have a machine certificate)
but we cannot install on it (since the machine must be domain joined to get that cert)
So far I have not found any method that truly tells if the card is a wired network adapter.
Win32_NetworkAdapter:s AdapterTypeID does not work since many wireless adapters report type=0 wich should be wired adapters.
MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType does not work. It returns undefined for a number of adapters
Many posts on the net talks about detecting the connection state wich doesn't work either since it will return the same value for a connected wired adapter and a connected wireless adapter
Other posts suggests using powershell and looking at tha dapter name. That doesn't work if you
got to support a number of languages and what happends if a user renames the interface?
The only way I can make it sort of work is to pipe the output from netsh LAN show interfaces and then do queries on those adapters but I would prefer a soloution in Code.
Since Netsh can do it, there must be a way to do this

The reason for the C code not running under WinPE was user error ........
    Forgot to link it static.
I have been digging around some more and so far the only API that will give us the correct and complete picture seems to be GetIfEntry2, however I can't find dotnet code for it.
It seems like most other methods uses the older GetIfEntry under the hood and that will not give us the true data since many types will report as NDisPhysicalMediumType 0.
However a combination of Win32_network adapter and MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType actually seems to work.
Win32_network filtered on AdapterType='Ethernet 802.3' gives us everything that claims to be an ethernetadapter. That list will however include wireless, bluetooth and some virtual adapters.
MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType filtered on NDisPhysicalMediumType 0 does not show Wireless or Bluetooth but will instead show isatap interfaces and so on.
The Key was to "join" these two on win32_networkadapter.Name to MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType.Instancename giving us the possibility to filter out the unwanted adapters using both methods.
I have made a demoscript that became embarrassing short
    '* ListPhysicalAdapters.vbs
'* Purpose : A script to list the true Physical Ethernet adapers.

    Set colItems_Win32_NetworkAdapter = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2").ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_NetworkAdapter where AdapterType='Ethernet 802.3'",,48)
    For Each objNetworkAdapter in colItems_Win32_NetworkAdapter
' Select the adapters that claimed to be Ethernet Adapters above and filter out the ones who doesn't have an Ethernet Connector (type=0 is used for fallback/undefined)
      Set Colitems_MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\WMI").ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType where InstanceName='" & objNetworkAdapter.Name & "' AND (NdisPhysicalMediumType=0 OR NdisPhysicalMediumType=14)",,0)
      For Each objPhysicalMediumType in Colitems_MSNdis_PhysicalMediumType
        Wscript.Echo "AdapterType: " & objNetworkAdapter.AdapterType & ""
        Wscript.Echo "MACAddress: " & objNetworkAdapter.MACAddress
        Wscript.Echo "Name: " & objNetworkAdapter.Name
