Looking for a printer

sorry if this isn't the right forum,
i'm looking for a relitivley cheap all in one device printer/scanner/photocopier compatible with both my MacBook Pro and my iBook G3 - could anyone recommend any?
thanks

I highly recommend the HP Officejet All in One 4215.
There is now a newer and slightly updated model. Its an excellent and fast printer, scanner, copier and also a fax and is the most compact AIl in One I've seen and costs between $75-$90. I've even been able to connect it to an Airport Express and print wirelessly from a PowerBook G4, a MacBook Pro and a 2 Windows PC laptops on a home network using Bonjour even though the HP website says it doesn't support wireless networking. The ink cartridges are not too costly and ink cartridges are available for Photo printing. You can check it out at the hp.com website under All in Ones

I am looking for a printer for my daughters apple laptop, any suggesstions

What are your daughter's needs? Is she a professional graphics artist needing a high quality printer, or is she a middle school student who just needs to be able to print a report for school? There are printers available for just about every need but they vary widely in price.
I have a Brother black and white laser printer that has served me well for many years, and only recently got a HP color inkjet printer because I need to do color flyers.

  • When i ask my macbook air to print it tells me it is looking for my printer it takes several minutes before it finds it and then prints, why is that as my wife is connected to the same printer in the same way (bluetooth) and hers prints straight away

As per my question, when i ask it to print it tells me it is looking for my printer this takes several minutes before it prints.  my wife is in the same room using an imac also using a bluetooth connection to the same printer and hers prints immediately.  why is this.

Perhaps you could try this to resolve your issue:
*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your print queues again.

  • Looking for laser printer recommendations (please read!)

I couldn't find a spot that fit this question and although I may not receive any answers here, this is a very active forum with members who are unafraid of new technology, so here's letting one rip...
OK, I've not had a laser printer in a number of years - when my beloved LaserWriter II NTX gave up the ghost. I find that I am lately, however, printing more and more text-only or text-heavy documents at home and going through black ink cartridges like a hungry lumberman through flapjacks. Although I've not looked into laser technology for years, I am wondering if it may not be more economical to print these pages on a 'personal' laser printer (I know that toner cartridges are not cheap, either, but they are less expensive, from what I've read, than using inkjet to print text-heavy documents) than to continue racking up rebate dollars by selling my soul for black ink cartridges.
So I am looking for a laser printer that can handle about 2,500-4,000 pages a month AND (here's the kicker!) have automatic duplex printing capabilities... I've never had this ability on a laser printer but I understand it's available on some models these days.
I'm not looking for an 'office capable' printer - maybe more like a 'small office'? No real need for Ethernet, yet, if it's a standard feature, I would certainly use it. A small footprint would be nice.
As I wander into the local Office Depot I am overwhelmed by the choices and yet stupefied to find that the 'hang tags' on many of the models don't really give too much information - page one can expect from a cartridge, connectivity options, duplexing capabilities (I seem to find none, yet am certain that I've read of their existence).
    So my criteria:
    1. monochrome
    2. PostScript emulation (unless CUPS supports lasers? It'd difficult to tell by the ad hype yet Apple does seem to have drivers or, at least, Brother and HP laser printers). I don't want to be limited to 72 typefaces...
    3. automated duplexing
    4. small footprint
    5. more economical to operate than an inkjet at 2,500-4000 pages per month
    6. networkable, though served through another CPU via USB is fine
    7. brand is not important - as long as reliability is high (and, like Brother, for instance, is supported by Apple)
Please leave a message if you should have ANY suggestions or, if you can point me towards a website with a good overview of what's available (and with actual tests would even be better!) I would be very appreciative.

    Jamie,
I just wanted to thank you once again for your suggestion of the HP LaserJet 1320. I picked one up last week at Office Depot and, after I receive my $50 mail-in rebate, my total cost will have been $139.99!
The printer itself had an 'instant savings' of $100 off the SRP of $399.99 (and - for those who might be interested - this instant savings continues until June 30 - see the HP website for details.), bring it down to $299.99; I had an $100 Office Depot 'rewards' card plus a $10 'instant off' coupon from the previous week, bringing it down to $189.99 and there was a mail-in rebate for $50 (which, according to the paperwork, I can expect within 6 weeks) so... I was able to get a $400 printer for less than $140 (+ tax, of course).
Still, even with $14 tax, I have to assume that I would have paid at least as much in shipping AND I only had to drive for less than 5 miles, spend 20 minutes explaining why I did not want or need either the extended warranty or the Super Special Laser Printer Official Office Depot Very Special Customer Service Box (a cable, some paper, and a few other doodads for $60) and now I've printed a couple of hundred sheets and love the thing.
Had it not been for your recommendation, I likely would have forgotten the $100 Office Depot card until it expired and would not have sought out the printer there in the first place.
It's such a warm and fuzzy feeling to get such a deal on such a terrific little printer... and, so, I thank you, again.

  • I just bought an iMac 10.7.2 version with lion and am looking for a printer that is compatible

I am looking for a basic printer and all that I have looked at say they are compatible with 10.6 or lower

Most all new printers are supported by the Apple's drivers. If not, then check the manufactures web site before buying the printer.

  • Looking for HP printer App/Icon to save on desktop

Hi - I am presently using Windows 8.1 operating system. In a previous version of Windows, I had installed a HP app/icon for printing photos and saved it on my desktop screen, the app looked like a picture of a "small HP printer" and it was very convenient when I wanted to print single photos on photo paper. After selecting my options on that printer app such as choosing a 2x3 or 4x6 size etc., I could select a photo and drag it to the printer app and it would automatically send a request to my printer to  print that size photo. Now that I've  installed the later version of Windows - (8.1), that printer app has disappeared from my desktop and I can't find out where to download it again. I do have a program installed called "HP Photo Creations" but that program only shows options to select 4x6 or 5x7 sizes etc., it does not give me the option to print a single 2x3 size photo. Anyone know where I could possibly download that small HP printer app/icon? I hope it's still available and can work on Windows 8.1, it really was soooo convenient.
    This question was solved.

    Hi @jank,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are wondering if an app you used to have is still available for Windows 8.1.
The app you mention in your post predates my time with HP and I had to do some digging around.  I was able to find out that at one time an app similar to the one you mentioned did exist, but no one I worked with was able to remember the name of it or how it worked.  It appears that it is no longer available.

  • Year specific printers were manufactured in. Looking for specific printer. HELP!

I had a old printer and gave it away.  I have a c7280 now and love it but it seems the printer I purchased in 2005/2006 and a LOT cheaper had far better photo quality.  I have gotten deeper into my photography work and would like to get my hands on one or more of those printers BUT I cannot remember the model #.  I do believe the letter v was in it.  It was either a photosmart or deskjet.  Purchased at Walmart for around $110.00.  The body of it is blue and the scanner lid was a greyish silver.  I have looked at the 2110 and 2210 which are close but still don't seem right.  I have called HP and they are no help.  Can anyone help me PLEASE?  Thank you!

Connect wireless printer anywhere, convert from wired, bypass failed radio, add WPA2 security.

  • Off Topic But Im Looking for a Printer/Negitive Scanner Recomendation

Anyone have a printer/scanner combo that works well for them? I'm not a pro but would like decent quality photos printed and I have a "pile" of old negatives (strips of negatives) that I would like to scan. Lots of good reviews on print quality but little to nothing on negative scanning. Let me know what you like.
    Thank You,
    Jim

I'm not a pro but would like decent quality photos printed and I have a "pile" of old negatives (strips of negatives) that I would like to scan. Lots of good reviews on print quality but little to nothing on negative scanning. Let me know what you like.
In order to scan an analog (reflective paper or transmissive film) in a colour managed process, you need an IT8 target for the combination of colourants and media. Thus there are IT8 targets for various Fuji, Kodak and Agfa media. The IT8 targets come with generic colour measurements for a product batch, or if you have a reflective or reflective+transmissive spectrophotometer you can measure your individual target yourself. You then capture the manufacturer's analog IT8 target on your scanner, load the colourants into your ICC input profiling package, load your measurements into your ICC input profiling package, and produce an input type SCNR Scanner profile that factors in additional stuff like the lamps.
All of this presupposed a positive process, there are no IT8 targets for negative processes. The preferred process in prepress is a viewable graphic as interchange and contract basis which is understandable since there is little leeway for disagreement. A negative has an large dynamic range and details can be pulled out of that large dynamic range in the capture process, but how you do that is more open to interpretation.
Optically, if you have a 35mm colour negative and you plan to capture that on a desktop fax scanner and printer, then you can forget the idea. At the low end, you would want to look at slide scanners supplied by Canon, Nikon and possibly Kodak (if they are still in the slide analog segment). At the high end for the serious prosumer, a used professional scanner would be the way to go. There are people who have developed methods e.g. for Linotype-**** / Heidelberg drum scanners under LinoColor and NewColor, but these scanners and their software are no longer supported. Fuji would have something similar, since those folks purchased Crosfield Electronics with the other scanner development team of the 1980s and 1990s.

  • Looking for a printer that accept memory flushing

    Hello!
I need a printer that is able to :
cancel a printing job in the printer cause the job I want to send is a "high priority" job.
cancel all jobs even those coming from other computers
I know that there are utilities that can cancel jobs but they only make possible to clear local computer queue. In fact I want a printer that has an interface (with a driver) to clear its memory to launch a new "high priority" job.
Is there a printer that can do that?
ps: I have CentOs 6.2 installed on my computers

Generally such feature may not be available in printer hardware.  You may need an additional software/solution to support this function (if available).
