Looking for a Secure Digital or SD card recommendation for MBPro and A540

I have an old Canon A540 camera that takes Secure Digital cards. The card I bought many years ago is not seen in the SD slot of my MBPro (latest version). If anyone has experience with that camera and the Mac's card slot I would love to know which make they use and if possible the size of the card. My intention is to by a 4 GB card, but any experience would be appreciated.

Launch Disk Utility and see if it appears there. Any SD card should work.

The "backup password" refers to a password you created when you elected to encrypt your iPhone's backup.  If you cannot remember the encryption password, you will not be able to access the backup.

After updating iOS 8.0, I only see a black screen on my iPad 4 asking for a 4 digits passcode, I've tried severeal times and now every time I try I get this message "Ipad dissable wait 60 min... I do not know what to do???

    Howdy mendjes25,
It sounds like you’ve recently updated your iPad and now it’s disabled because the passcode you’re entering isn’t being accepted. I can imagine that would be frustrating. Take a look at the article linked below, it describes the alert you’re seeing and provides the possible resolutions for that issue.

    I hope this helps,

  • Family sharing verification has an old credit card number to verify. I have updated the credit card info but it is still not appearing in the verification process asking for the security code of the card. How lng to have account info updated to cloud

I am trying to set up a family sharing with a new iMac and other Mac pro computer and other apple products. When I click to manage account and the add a member, I am told to verify the user by entering the security code from the credit card. The card listed is an old one and has since been changed. I updated the info on my apple account, but it is not getting to the iCloud for the family sharing. The number shown is the old card. When I enter a code it says invalid. How long does it take for the info to udate to all systems?

    Hi Mofro1,
Happy Holidays!  The resource below explains how to edit the credit card information for the Apple ID account that you want to use for Family Sharing.  Once you've made the changes, I would suggest you sign out of your iTunes Store on all of your devices, and then restart them.  The changes should take place quickly.  There is a link to the iTunes Store support below if you need more help.
Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT1918
Change your payment information on a Mac or PC
Click to open your account in iTunes. (You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.)
    Alternatively, you can:
    Open iTunes.
    Click iTunes Store.
Click Sign In and enter your Apple ID.
Click your Apple ID and select Account Info.
From the Account Information page, click Edit to the right of Payment Type.
You can see the payment methods that the iTunes Store accepts in the Payment Type section. If you want to remove the payment method, select None in the Payment Type section. See what to do if None isn't showing or you can't select it.
Change your information and click Done.
After you change your payment information, the iTunes Store places an authorization hold on your credit card.
    Family Sharing
If you’re using Family Sharing, and you're the family organizer, you can’t set your payment information to None. You need to use a credit card or debit card. Only the Family Organizer can edit payment information for a family group. If you're not the organizer, you'll see this message: "The payment method for your Family is managed by [Apple ID]."
    Get help
If you need help changing your payment information, credit card details, or billing information, contact iTunes Store support. Or you might find the answer to your question below:
If you change your payment method, make sure your account information matches the credit card information on file with your financial institution.
If you use an AOL screen name to sign in to the iTunes Store, editing your information on the Account Information page won't update your AOL account. If you need to update your AOL account information, contact AOL.
If your previous payment wasn't accepted, you might need to change your payment information.

  • HT1918 App store is asking for the security code of my card, when I write it down and press ok, it still does not accept it.

For some reasone app store is not accepting my card, it is asking for a security key, once I write the security key it is still rejecting the card

Often there is another billing issue you can not see from your end that causes this.

  • Video card recommendations for Lion?

Hi everyone - I'm still on Leopard but want to make the plunge to Lion.  I've spent the last two nights trying to install SL then to Lion as recommended, but couldn't.  I would get the Apple icon on install dvd boot, then the spinning wheel, then it would tell me to power off.  Reset PRAM, the whole works.  nothing. Finally stumbled upon some articles that mentioned that maybe it's my old video cards that were the culprit.  So two questions:
    1) Is that right?  I have two of the video cards seen below, and I'd rather not spend money to upgrade if not necssary.
    2) If it's the video cards, which I'm 95% sure of when reading the other articles - which is the best kind to get?  By best - I mean least hassle.  I'm OK to do a couple of things here and there, but rather not have to deal with firmware issues, flashes, etc.
    Oh - I do have a CalDigit RAID card, but I don't think that's the culprit... (?)
Thanks in advance for your input.

    Mac Pro 2,1
    Quad-core Intel Xeon, 3 GHz (x2)
    8 GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (Slots 4, 2)
    CalDigit RAID card (Slot 3)

Wait until Lion has matured; wait for drivers and apps to be upgraded and tested.
And 7300GT is not much of a graphic card.
Heck, you might look into an 8-core X5355 upgrade which have become popular and cheap.

  • SATA card recommendation for OS 10.1.5

    Hello,
I am looking for a SATA hard drive controller card for my G3 that will work in both OS 9 and OS 10.1.5.
I bought a seritek 1S2 SATA controller card to connect a 250 GIG SATA hard drive however unfortunately I found out that it is not compatible with my OS 10.1.5. (its 10.2 or later). It does work in OS 9 however not in 10.1.5. So now I am looking for another card that does work in OS 10.1.5.
    Any suggestions?
    I have considered two:
    Acard AEC-690M 2-channel SATA
Sonnet tempo SATA (10.2 and later)
The Acard looks like the only one that works in OS 10.1.5.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

    Thanks Grant and lz3broc,
Good points. I have several possible options and they all depend on a number of factors.
    Here are my top options:
    buy OS 10.2 ($125)
    buy OS 10.3 ($129)
    buy OS 10.4 ($129)
stay with 10.1.5 and buy an Acard 6290M adapter ($70). I am pretty sure this would work - still waiting to hear from Acard about its compatibility with OS 10.1.5.
Yes I would love to move to 10.4 however 10.2 is also very attractive to me because it comes with imovie - imovie2 is also known to be one of the most stable versions of imovie.
The reason I am still giving OS 10.1.5 a chance is because I already own it (won't cost me anymore $) and also because I already have a version of Microsoft Office for the mac that apparently works with OS 10.1.5. With that combination I will have a nice word processing station for the family - if it works or course - which I am betting it would. Maybe I could find other programs that would work with 10.1.5 - but I am not counting on that. Because I spent $ on 10.1, feel I should try to find some use for it - maybe that is not a rational way to think however.
I have a feeling that my best option is 10.4. It makes me sad to think I won't be able to use my imovie program though (I have imovie1). That was a great program on 10.1.5. Maybe I can find a way to install my imovie 1 onto tiger - still looking into that...
PS My Seritek 1S2 SATA harddrive adapter card only cost $69 however I am somewhat disappointed now that I realize it doesn't work with my 10.1.5 OS. (It does work with all versions of OS 9 and OS 10 - except 10.1)
Now Firmtek is indicating to me that it might not work with 10.2 either - will have to look into that too)

  • Video Card Recommendation for Power Mac G5 Quad

Can anyone recommend a video card upgrade for my Power Mac G5 Quad?
I am now running the nVIDIA GeForce 6600 card that came in the machine, but I'm wondering how much performance increase I'll see with a large image library in Aperture if I upgrade. I'm interested in all comments.
Also, is there a "medium" upgrade and a "kick-***" upgrade?
    Thanks!
    G5 Quad / 4.5GB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I hate to say it: At the moment there is no graphics card upgrade available for the G5 Quad and the other PCI-Express Power Macs. There are a lot of threads about this topic in this forum. It is simply a shame that Apple does not offer any graphics upgrade for their former top of the line machines - but they do offer them for their new Intel Mac Pro. Maybe one day ATI will offer an upgrade, but at the moment this is just a rumor. All you can do now is to buy a reflashed PC version of the GeForce 7800 or buy a ridiculously priced spare part GeForce 7800 from a store who is willing to sell you one (there is one on the web but i forgot the url).

  • HT5312 I have bought a iTunes gift card and went to buy something then it asked for my security questions. I don't remember them and the prompt is not coming up to reset them. What can I do?

I have tried to reset them but the prompt is not coming up.

Go back to the article you asked this question from and use the link to contact the iTunes Store staff in the 'Additional Information' section. If you don't already have a valid rescue email address, you can't reset the questions yourself, and nobody on these boards can reset them for you.
Setting up a rescue email address requires correctly answering two of the questions.

  • Upgrade card recommendation for my Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz Dual

    Hello Folks,
I have a Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz Dual that came with a nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 64 MB graphics card.
    QUESTION:
Has anyone here upgraded the Graphics Card ( nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 64 MB ) from their "Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz Dual"?
If yes, how was your experience doing this? Do you like your new graphics card?
Which 3 cards would be good upgrades on this system?
I am looking for a little more graphics power.
    G5 1.8 GHz Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Thanks for the reply Edwin.
The ATI X800 XT is a nice card. I little high on price, but it is awesome.
What are the best reputable places to buy cards like this at the best prices possible?

  • Solution for 5.1 digital speakers(like inspire5500/5700..)and creative soundcards! IT WOR

I have inspire 5500D that have the same problems than yours ...
the problem is that the digital outputs does not support more than a 2. or coded signals like ac3 (for DD) and theres no way to make it work .... is just imposible ...
now ure question is and what should i do ?
well first of all u should be like me ... really ungry with creative ! HOW CAN THEY SELL SOUNDCARDS INCOMPATBLE WITH THEIR OWN SPEAKERS IS INCREDIBLE ! (example Inspire 5500D/5700D ... incompatible with sbli've 5.D (and all the rest of creative soundcards...) is a joke ?) ....
theres only one solution to youre problem ... and is a pain ! i have done it and now it works perfectly ! here it goes :
Forget u have an external decode .... u must plug the 3 cables (front/rear/center) that now goes to youre decoder, directly to youre soundcard ! (and keeps the external decoder on since is the only way to mantain electricity in youre speakers...) then u will have analogic speakers ! all works great ! but im really ungry that my external decoder that cost much more than a simple analogic speakers is just totally unusefull ...
Now listen youre system now will work really better ! with cmss-3d and THX config u will not remember youre external decoder ! loud rear speakers ? not more .... no 5. in games ? no more ....
Creative digital speakers for PC is just a waste of money ! (good work creative ...)
This repair ALL so u must have REAL 5. in DVD (using soundcard decoder), games, and all kind of applications! (if the sound is in 5. of course ! if not u will still hear envolvent sound thanks tu cmss-3d) so If any needs help about this just ask in this post ....

  • Firewire Card Recommendation for Duende and/or Ensemble

I am in the process of moving from a PPC to a Quad core 3.0 machine. Can anyone recommend a PCIE firewire card for running the Duende or the Apogee card?
I'm looking for something with 800 and 400 ports.
I've loaded this machine up with 16gb ram and 4 drives, is there anything I need to know as far as tweaks, any specific pcie slot to install the fw card as well as a UAD2 card?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html
I don't know about Ensemble or Duende but my Motu works on a LeCie D2 connected to the FW800 port of my G5 without problems...
seems to be more faster... but in any case just an adapter to be sure about stay close to FW800 commectors.

  • Video card recommendation for PPro and large stills

I'll be using PPro CS5 to create a video mixing video and stills, some quite large for zooming purposes. From what I read here my video card should be at least 1.5 meg VRAM? Is more VRAM automatically a hotter, more power hungry card? Can I go to 3 meg with a card that won't fry eggs?

Hotter, not really, more power hungry, yes. If you make it a custom to fry eggs @ around 50 degrees C or less when idle or below 65 C when under load, then you will probably succeed. However, not many people try that. Even overclocked by around 20% the load temps stay below 65 degrees C, at least in my case, but that is with the hotter and less efficient 480 with only 1.5 GB VRAM.
The 3 GB 580 is nice.

I've an '08 with 8800gt, what's the recommended upgrade for Leopard?
    For Snow Leopard?

    http://www.barefeats.com
Save your money and go for 5770, but seeing that they aren't shipping, there is no hurry.
What you may need even more: RAM and maybe SSD. There is no real CUDA-engine to ATI and there isn't a current model of Nvidia 400-FERMI to off load and handle GPGPU work. The 5770 only needs one of your (very limited set of two) aux power connectors so you can continue to use 8800GT.
Plus, guess only, but I think the ATI drivers need more work.
