Looking for a specific feature in an FTP Client

Hello!
I am looking for a "simple" feature in any FTP client for OS X.
I have tried Fetch, Transmit, CyberDuck and Interarchy 7.x and none had the ability to throttle uploads/downloads. I work with a limited bandwidth and sometimes have to download files (or upload) in the background but at a very slow speed (because the peer has a poor connection).
None of these nice (and they are nice!) ftp programs can do this. I have to either use wget via the command line (wget --limit-rate=xx) or use Total Commander for Windows inside a Parallels Virtual Machine.
Does anybody know about a Mac FTP client that can throttle and enqueue items easily?

Look at "lftp". It as about a zillion parameters that can be set. One of them is "net:limit-total-rate"

limit transfer rate of all connections in sum. 0 means unlimited. You can specify two numbers separated by colon to limit download and upload rate separately. Note that sockets have receive buffers on them, this can lead to network link load higher than this rate limit just after transfer beginning. You can try to set net:socket-buffer to relatively small value to avoid this.

What system and iPhoto version are you running?
If your're using iPhoto 9 or later Command (right) - click on the photo in the search window and select Show Event in the Contextual menu.
That will take you to the event where the photo is.

As long as you have a form of payment (credit or debit card) with a USA source, and with a billing address in the USA, then you just need to change your payment information on your account to that, change your country in the store settings, and you will then be able to shop in the USA store.
Your AppleID will work in any country's store, as long as your payment source and billing addres are also specific to that country (and you are in that country as well, as there may be IP filters in place to stop use outside of the country).

Looking for a specific title...

I have been scouring the usual plug-in sources for iMovie looking for a specific kind of title. Since I have not found it, I thought I would describe it here to see if anyone knows if it exists or where I can get it.
I am looking for a title which scrolls multiple lines of text one at a time to a paused position. i.e.
Line #1: Scrolls to top of screen and pauses. Remains.
Line #2: Scrolls to just below line one and pauses. Remains
Line # 3: Scrolls to just below line two and pauses. etc.
I am looking for a way to tell a story on one title screen in a sort of dramatic way. I want my viewer to digest the first part of the information and then have the remaining info scroll up. Does that make sense?
If anyone out there has any clue as to what I am talking about, I'd love to hear from you!

I guess I should had stated that I need a laptop no questions asked, I need it to be portable. If an external monitor was an option I may as well get a desktop... I'm aware of laptop's short comings but what I was hoping to gain from this post was information on current models that fulfill decent photo editing specs, in regards to laptops.. not desktop solutions..
So those expensive models you mentioned would be a good start. Would you mind sharing them with me? I've linked a model I'm pretty interested in, and would like the opinion of the community on it's potential and maybe any other models they know of that can match it.

Looking for a Specific product

Hello,
I am looking for a specific Desktop PC. Similar to M73 ThinkCenter in size, but needs to have 3-4x HDMI inputs. This computer will run digital menus for restaurants/coffeeshops 24/7. The M73 has display ports but we are looking to move away from having to buy display ports to just plugging directly into the computer through HDMI.

Looking for a specific transition

I'm looking for a specific transition - I have an image layer of a credit card, that starts out only showing the thin edge, then flips out to reveal the flat surface of the card. Closest I could find in FC was 3D Spinback.
Can you recommend a good source of FC transitions, free or paid? One that shows previews would be especially good.

I thought you might have this issue, and I had meant to point out a problem with your workflow, but it slipped my mind.
The file you're working with is a .psd, and it contains 1 layer, rather than being a flattened image. So what's happening is that when you drop the file into the Sequence it becomes a Nested Item.
That's why when you double click it, it opens in its own sequence, constrained to its own dimensions. When you add the basic 3d filter, you are then animating it in that sequence, rather than the main sequence.
Without going back to Photoshop, the easiest fix is to
1. Cut the effect from the clip.
2. Go back to the main sequence and Option Double Click the clip. You are now accessing the master clip, rather than its subclip which is the single .psd layer.
3. Paste the filter. I believe your keyframed motion will be retained, and the clip will now rotate in the main sequence without cropping.
4. Remember from here on that to access the filter again you have to Option Double Click the layer.

I have succesfully ported some of my developments to CS5. I have used the following procedure:
- create new project by using dollyX
- add source code
- fix the errors
But now I have encountered an error I can't figure out.

   First of all, I'm assuming that you are receiving this error on a Win box. If on a Mac, then your problems may stem from something else altogether.
   It's a bit complex to cover in an email. My recommendation is that you open up a couple of the sample plugins and look at them. Pay close attention to the Properties page of the project. Look at the Resources field and command line, and also pay attention to the Pre-Link and Post-build fields. Once they are looking right, highlight your .FR file and click the Properties icon. Be sure that all four lines have something in them. Model their input after what you see in the sample plugins.
   Finally, are you getting this error when the ODFRC compiler is running, or when the project is getting linked? The former could indicate a problem with your .FR file, the latter is more likely to be solved by my first suggestion.

Tried FSS Select from LightroomGalleries but no luck (I only get an endless "loading gallery"). I just want something simple that would allow clients to provide feedback (comments/picks/ratings) on a series of photos I just took for them.

an indépendant FTP folder.
I did find one that kinda works - DeadOn Player.

Looking for a specific WM/DE

First of all I'd like to apologize if my english is not that good, I'm from Germany.
I guess it has been discussed pretty often but nonetheless I need your help.
I am looking for a WM/DE like the Thread Title indicates. It would be kinda nice to have the following features.
- Fully customizable (via rc or whatever you like)
- Taskbar like Gnome-Panel
- "Homogenous" Look (Dunno if it's called like that in English) (GTK or QT)
- Wallpaper Functionality
- Nice and easy configuration of all kinds of things regarding the WM/DE
- Not relying on too many different programs (eg: Kombining XFCE and ROX would be already one Application Suite too much)
I guess I'd use GNOME but in my Opinion it is bloated and not that usable (eg configuring the Menu is kinda retarded (Not able to change the Category Icons in an easy and quick manner)

They're always multiple applications. Even in gnome and KDE. (gnome-panel, kicker, etc etc)

It is just for example that at GNOME we have the GNOME Foundation and one big group of people working on it and if we compare that to the combination of fbpanel and blackbox (just an example) there we have the group developing fbpanel with a goal and we have the group developing blackbox also with a group and likely with an different approach. GNOME haves one group, one approach, one goal and most important guidelines to follow.
I hope I was at least capable to give you a glimpse of what I meant...

Looking for a specific 8-bit synth plugin

There was one I found a while ago (maybe a year or so) that had a lot of Nintendo-type preset sounds. At the time, it wasn't Leopard compatible so I didn't keep it on my system. I've done some searching and checked out a couple plugins since including Magical 8-bit plugin and Chip32, but none have had the wealth of presets that first one did. I know I can recreate any of the sounds I want using those or Logic's own plugs, but I have a small project with a tight turnaround and haven't really worked with this kind of stuff before. Anyone have any idea which plugin I'm looking for? I know my description doesn't give you a whole lot, but if you know any such plugins that had more specific presets than just "square," "triangle," etc. I'd love to check them out. Thanks.

Looking for TV with features

I'm looking for a tv with the following:
LED, PIP, WIFI, 120HZ, auto aspect ratio switching. Size is not a major concern as long as it has the features.

Hmmmm PIP... that's hard to come by now. If there is a tv with PIP, one source HAS to be from the tuner input from the tv. You don't usually find the PIP as a "draw feature" anymore so they don't seem to list it on any specs of a tv. So you actually have to go to the store and ask to go through the tv's menu to try and find whether it has it or not. When I worked at BBY most sales people weren't smart enough to look through the menu so they would just tell people that it didn't have PIP. If I remember correctly the high end samsung and sonys still have PIP. You just have to go physically look for it. All the other features you mentioned though are easier to come by. Most tv's are only WiFi Ready though, which means you have to buy an adapter separately. Samsung, Sony, and LG have the features you're looking for.
