Looking for a suggestion for a web site format

Hi guys,
I have a website www.ridethespiral.net
It is a flash website designed to display video and photos.
I bought the flash/xml template from Flashden and am pretty happy with it with the exception that it is to slow.
The videos display to slow to the browser.
They are all .flv files that download to the browser.
I would like to find a template that offers a you tube style streaming format so as to display the video files faster.
But I do not want to use you tube as the host for the videos.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi
What you require is a (shared hosting, possibly), video streaming server (prices vary greatly, depending on requirements).
Try looking through this (initial) Google search - http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&channel =s&hl=en&source=hp&q=video+streaming+server+providers&meta=&btnG=Google+Search

  • Looking for resources for the Apple TV; books, web sites, ebooks, etc

I love to get books or manuals or web sites to read about how my Apple product works, stuff like "The Missing Manual" series. I can't find such a resource for the Apple TV, which I just bought and really love.
Does anyone know of such a resource?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • {req} Tutorials for Dreamweaver CS6 and responsive web sites

Hello! I am Designer with zero knowledge of coding, but have been setting up many wordpress and phpBB sites based on tutorials.
I can design a website failry well with CS6 tools. But cant get the hang of making 'responsive' websites. (I know that I should learn a bit of coding, but, honestly, it just doesnt get into my head unless I take structured classes.)
Can anyone point me to a simple step by step guide to crafting a responsive layout? Preferably written (not video).
(By the way: Love the new Adobe website look.)

Building modern web sites without a fundamental knowledge of code is like trying to drive a car blindfolded.  You may reach your destination but you'll break things (many things) along the way.
CS6 Fluid Grid Layouts require a working knowledge of HTML, CSS  &  Media Queries because you will need to manually tweak the code.   Fluid Grids are a quick start; not a quick solution.

Sorry, I am a new user and may be this is not the place to put such information

  • Activate plugins for all users on a web-site

    Hello,
Is there a way to activate or whitelist plugins for a specific web-site, for all users on a Windows computer? Each time a user logs in and visits the site, they have to click three prompts to enable content. Aside from being annoying, most folks aren't that tech-savvy to understand what is going on and that they need to do it. All they want is for their content to run in the browser.
    Thanks

There are plugin.state prefs for each plugin.
    *plugin.state (0:Never Activate; 1:Ask to Activate; 2:Always Activate)
You can use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify new (default) values.
Place a local-settings.js file in the defaults\pref folder where also the channel-prefs.js file is located to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0);
These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

When filling out my FAFSA government student loan info, the FAFSA web site tells me my version of Firefox does not support their form. I have the 3.5 Firefox browsers, and they said I need 2.0. Where and how can I download the 2.0 version?

You can install the portable Firefox 3.6.19 version to access websites that do not work with Firefox 5+.

  • Thrive Should not look like a mibile device to web sites

How can I connect to a web site without looking like a mbile device?  For example, goto eBay and you get a screen formatted for a cell phone.  This is not a cell phone and can easily handle the standard web page.
Goto to the gMail web interface and again you get a screen formatted for a cell phone which does NOT have all of the funtionality of the full web interface.
At the least there should be an option as to how your wish the device to present itself to web sites.  Are there other prowers that will solve this problem?

Sorry for the typos guys.  Here is the corrected request.

  • Has anyone else seen odd web site formats recently?

Both of my lion macs are displaying the same webist, "mine", oddly. Fonts big, footers stretched etc. Not all web sites have this issue but mine does. I dusted off my old sony and took a look there and all was looking good so I was wondering if a recent update was an downdate. If yes, do you have advice on a fix?

If I've understood you correctly, it's just your own site that doesn't show properly?

  • A site I use (strongly) suggested the use of Firefox 3.5 as there have been problems within the version 3.6 and the site. How can I download the (much) older version Firefox 3.5 for proper use of this web site?

My online college course-room has a "Computer System Check"application that tells you when you are using the best version for working with the classes as their application development is written. They say that they have troubles with Firefox 3.6. (I have seen a couple of minor issues, but nothing too far off the mark.)
The site is through Capella University and maybe you could work with their "Learner Support" to help them bring their software up to work with the latest Firefox version/revision.

    Reference site:-
    http://odyniec.net/blog/2010/02/running-multiple-versions-of-firefox-in-ubuntu-9-10/
I have modified the original Fedora firefox script from /usr/bin/firefox to be /usr/bin/firefox-old.
Then I modified the script firefox-old to change the LAUNCHER from "/usr/bin/firefox" , which now points to my FF7.0.1 to the $MOZ_PROGRAM which has been setup earlier to the correct binary /usr/lib64/firefox-3.6/firefox<br />

  • I need a counter for my os 9.2 web site

I have been using Adobe PageMill 3 for my web page using OS 9.2.2 on my Mac Mini 1.25GHz.
I have downloaded several counter scripts, but none work, can someone suggest one for me?

I seem to recall Pagemill having a "Goodies" folder (or something like that). Perhaps they included a counter in the collection.

Did you buy an upgrade version of Acrobat 11?  If so then you need to provide the serial number of the old product that you are upgrading from.  This is normal with all upgrade versions otherwise people would all buy upgrade versions without owning the prior versions so this is one of the checks the installation process does.,
You have the serial number for the old product right?  If not go back to your account and see if the old product is listed there.
Also, please remove the picture you have posted here because it has your serial numbers which are not meant to be public.

  • Any test web sites to insure browser/Flash player/other is adequate for all Captivate content

My prior subject header was a little confusing, so I hope it's okay I start over again and state more clearly what I need.
I have hundreds of users accessing Adobe Captivate 5.5 training.  Many users have no trouble viewing the content.  SOME users have trouble, specifically when viewing a video inserted into the training.  It just won't play for them.  These users have different browsers, so it would seem the type of browser is not an issue.
What I am hoping for is ...
a web site that lets users know they have everything needed to run any content within a Captivate session.  For example, as you know, Adobe has a web site to inform the user what version of Flash Player they have (if any).  I would be great to have a site that would let the user know if they meet the minimum requirements (not just Flash Player) to participate successfully in a training.
Is anyone aware of such a site?  Or have ideas on how to build one?
Thank you, and I'm sorry for not being clearer on the prior post.
    Best regards,
    Mark

Captivate outputs (generally) as Flash. So as long as users have a recent version of the Flash player, they should technically be able to play back the content.
However, of course, online delivery depends on the user's internet connection. What if you're feeding them video and their connection is slow?
For similar concerns, we point our users to speedtest.net and ask them to post their results. Sometimes that helps illustrate their slow connection means a slow video delivery.
And, of course, the older the computer, the less-fast it'll be in rendering the course. My oldest computer, used occasionally and with frustration by my 5 y/old, plays Flash sites horribly - and it's a 1.6ghz computer with 512mb RAM and XP...with latest browsers and Flash player. You can always ask for their computer spec, but that's not an easy thing to determine via software/website.
So you can create a simple 'minimum requirements' page that you can point to...but one that actually does a diagnostic...well, aside from simple Flash player/version detection (which is fairly simple), that's a complex task.

  • I want to develop forex web site need design suggestion

i am a professional content writer currently writing for webdesignerhu - web design blog. i want to create a forex web site i am looking for design suggestions for that .
i have search alot on google , saw alot of templates but cannot figure it out.
i need some inspirations about forex websites, forex templates.
I am looking  for +tive responce....

    Hi Cathie,
What Brad explained above is that when you want to use the hosting and mail services provided by an external party e.g. Godaddy (not Business Catalysts) you need to create an A Record, using your hosting provider tools, that points to the data center where your site is located. Please find below the IPs for each data center:
54.252.148.183 or 54.252.148.191 for sites on the Australia data center
54.236.190.114 or 54.236.189.64 for sites on the United States data center
54.246.209.120 or 54.246.209.119 for sites on the European Union data center
So firstly you need to log in to the admin of your site and add the domain to use external hosting services - http://screencast.com/t/iV00iojmFfP
Then you need to create an A Record at your hosting provider that points to the IP shown in our DNS tool (as shown in the screenshot from above).
Please note that you need to create A Records for both @ and WWW records. For further assistance on this matter I suggest contacting your hosting provider as each one has their own workflow in terms of creating this records.
    I hope this helps!
    Andrei
