Looking for a tutor

Seeking an experienced Business Catalyst expert to help get me through the initial learning curve. I'm an experienced DW user familiar with html but not so much with css and working with modules and the like.
Want to connect via skype call and screen share. Some work may be done on your own, but I want to learn this stuff as much as possible.
One site only for now, maybe more later.
My site needs:
-new design to improve the drop rate (46% visits less than 5 seconds)
-improve SEO (presently in 3rd spot on #1 search string)
-develop CRM including relationships and custom views
-custom sales report
-all device friendly
-if possible, integrate incoming emails and phone calls into the CRM (google apps???)
Hope you can help!

Hi,
If you can contact me by email we can "chat" about your needs

  • Looking for APEX tutoring in NJ (with pay) - urgent -

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to APEX. I can get a simple form up and running fine. But the project is more than a simple form. I have not got a chance to get training yet. I'm looking for an experienced APEX developer in NJ to tutor me with pay. I'm using APEX 3.2 with Oracle 11g database via Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (which probably is not so relevant). A brief description of the project is as follows:
    Login -> Home
    |
    V
Form 1 -> Search, then display the items that were entered (maybe a dynamic display) based on the search criteria. Click on the item to faciliate "Update" or "Deactivate" (similar to "delete"). On the top of the page, there's a "Add" tab to facilitate insert.
    Form 2 -> ......
    Form 3 -> ......
The same or similar logic for the other Forms (total about 10 Forms, with Reports added later). This is some of my rough concept, the overall application flow/wrapper can be discussed, if there's other alternative or I'm not on the right track.
    Please let me know PROMPTLY.
    Thanks much,
    Helen

Why are you repeating a prior posting you made today (Looking for APEX tutoring (with pay) in NJ - urgent - Posting the same item more than once will cause headache and issues with the folks that frequent here..
If you have a need for tutoring, as you have asked, you have been sent three viable solutions to follow (two different responders in the area willing to help for $$ and one response involving working through the tutorials on Oracles APEX page and buying one of the better APEX books.. I Would HIGHLY Recommend John E Scott's book, http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Application-Express-Experts-Voice/dp/159059827X ..
Keep the questions coming, folks here will help when they can..

    Helen,
First of all, welcome to the forums and the wonderful world of APEX development.
Before recommending anything, it would be really good to know a little bit about your background and how comfortable you are with Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL. If you're completely new to Oracle (i.e. you've been working with EXCEL and ACCESS), I would recommend a completely different path than someone who is coming at this from a long history of Oracle Forms development, and different again form someone that has Java or other Web development experiene.
Can you help us out with some information about your programming background?
In general, I agree with Don. The 2 Day developer and Advanced Tutorial white papers will give you a good start, by letting you peek under the covers of what is possible with Application Express. There are also a couple good books that might help depending on where you're coming from and what your skill level is.
However, there is nothing like getting yourself into a learning environment that allows you to ask questions specific to what you're trying to achieve in the real world.
The company I work for ( [Sumner Technologies|www.sumnertech.com] ) also provides APEX training at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. We can provide these classes in a public forum, as private on-site classes, or we also provide instructor lead online training classes as well. We have several classes scheduled through the end of the year so check [http://www.sumnertech.com/training|http://www.sumnertech.com/training] for a list of available courses and our public/Online schedule).
What course best suits you will obviously depend on where you're starting from, but we can definitely help there.
Feel free to give us a call at (703) 879-4615. We'll be happy to help.

  • Looking for a Tutor to teach me Photoshop CS2

I am looking for someone who can spend from 1-3 hours, in 30 minute to 1 hr intervals, teaching me some key areas of Photoshop CS2. The person needs to be in th4e United States and speak english fluently without a heavy foreign accent. I am looking for step by step, live tutoring over the phone. I have tried to use the photoshop training materials but I still don't "get" it. At a minimum, I want to learn, in detail, the following:
-learn how to extract objects from images
-learn how to change a certain color in an image to another color
-understand layers and how to break an image down into layers
-learn how to create masks and work with layers.
I will pay by the hour - hoping to get someone around 30.00/hr.
    thanks
    Patrick

no so much a dig at the OP as just an observation. it totally confounds me why someone would pay for what they already have. learn the terminology and what the app is capable of first by reading the manual (ANY manual, this doesn't just apply to learning photoshop), then when you can speak the lingo, you can really get your $20/hr worth of instruction because you'll be better equipped to ask relevant questions.
the axiom: there's no such thing as a stupid question applies only as far as you're not paying for answers.

Basically what I am looking for is someome with more experience than myself to coach me through some examples. I understand the concepts and theory behind OO, but I need more practice in applying it (in other words, coding!). I think about 5 hours a week to work through some examples would be good.

  • Looking for dreamweaver tutor near Buffalo Grove, IL

Can anyone here help me find a dreamweaver tutor near Buffalo Grove, IL?  I volunteer for a children's hospital and want to move our existing website from iweb to dreamweaver.  I've taken the intense 3-day DW course twice, but since I don't use it on a daily basis, it's hard to remember everything and apply what I've learned to a specific project.  I love learning with Apple's One on One program and am hoping to find someone who can coach me through the process of creating a website in DW.  Any thoughts?

Like SnakEyez02 I think you might benefit from at least taking a look at Wordpress.  If you enjoy learning, why devote that to a product that you are not going to use regularly?  Wordpress is a highly regarded platform that a wide range of people get a good end result with.  People who have absolutely no knowledge of code through experts to who make a living out of it.   If you want to press on with Dreamweaver then you need to brush up on your HTML CSS skills and unless you do, it will be a cruel mistress!  Wordpress equally, will serve you better if you have a good understanding of the underlying technologies which on top of HTML and CSS, includes PHP.
With Wordpress, you can build a site, enable others to contribute content, and easily add the ability for users to interact.  You can add heaps of functionality through plugins and you can start small and build it up.  A couple of books might interest you: Biginning Wordpress 3.0 and Smashing Wordpress: Beyond the Blog.
Wordpress has a hugh following and community with masses of tutorials, sites and freebies that will help you on your way.

  • Looking for Online Coldfusion Tutor

Hello, I'm looking for a tutor to work with me and teach me advanced topics/techniques in coldfusion.
I think this can be done easily using the phone and join.me.
Does anyone know of any coldfusion tutors or websites that I can find someone?
Please email me at [email protected]
    Thanks for your help.
    Steve

And how *would* you expect a ColdFusion page to display from your computer when you don't have ColdFusion installed? Seeing as you can get a completely free developer edition, what's the reason you don't want to just install it? It would make your life much easier.

  • Hi,  I'm looking for a online private tutor for teaching me Adobe Premiere Elements 8 through  remote cessions and Skype.  Willing to pay a good price for good tuition!  Please contact me asap  if you can help.  Thanks,  J Sussholz

    Hi,
I'm looking for a online private tutor for teaching me Adobe Premiere Elements 8 through  remote cessions and Skype.
Willing to pay a good price for good tuition!
Please contact me asap if you can help.
    Thanks,
    J Sussholz

    Jacqui,
I stongly believe that Steve has given you the best advice. Actually, it's the same advice that I would have given you, if I had seen your post first!
I can verify that his books will give you more info, and in a more usable form, than tutoring, or even in-class, hands-on schooling will. Almost anything that can be done with the program (he also has a companion book for Photoshop Elements, which is often bundled with PrE) is covered in easy to understand detail.
After reading through, and working along, his second bit of advice, Muvipix, is also sound. Between this, and Muvipix fora (Community tab), there have been very few questions that could not be answered. Muvipix also is a great resource for additional articles on how things are done, plus tutorials.
I also recommend that one take an hour and read through both the FAQ and Tips & Tricks articles, found to the right of the PrE forum main page. I would read Steve's book first, so terms, etc. would be most clear.
There are two on-line training sites, that get great reviews: www.lynda.com and www.ltotaltraining.com. I have not subscribed to either, but have used the materials furnished from them with various Adobe programs. I also have several of the lynda.com books on various programs, and they are well-written. Now, they are NOT one-on-one tutoring, which is what you are looking for. They also probably do not cover PrElements, but that is just my guess. If they do, they would be another good source of training, though it's through tutorials, and not direct instruction.
This is just my 02¢'s worth of thought.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I'm looking for an app to help with math tutoring.

I doubt that I will find exactly what I am looking for, but if anyone can provide suggestions, I would appreciate it. Groupboard is close, but has a few fatal flaws.
    Criteria List(required):
Whiteboard where I can see what my student is writing in real time.
Either latex support or the ability to quickly post one image at a time, at least 10 (20 is better) images per session.
Only I have the ability to erase things or clear the board, not the student.
    Criteria List(would be helpful):
    Shape drawing tools
    Coordinate grid
Formula editor (my students have no desire to learn latex)
It would be best if I can post PDF's but jpegs will work just as well. What I would really like would be www.scribblar.com on an iPad. Unfortunately, it will not run on iPads.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

You might look at the iPads in Education site...

  • Looking For a Dreamweaver Tutor

Hi there, does anybody have a recommendation for Dreamweaver tutors in person or virtually? I live near Victoria, BC. Please let me know if anything comes to mind! I'm also open to other options for learning but not tutorials!

    Hi James,
a virtual tutor for some of DW's diverse applications you will find here: http://tv.adobe.com/videos/dreamweaver/. From there you will be able to explore other channels too.

P.S.1: What is bad about "tutorials"?
P.S.2: I quote from another thread: ... and I would propose, if it is ok with your website give us a shout!

  • I am looking for direction on beginning a project.

Hello all, this is is a brief and likely frustratingly generic message.
It has been well over a decade since I have worked with Adobe products (I last built a web page with PS 5 and Macromedia Dreamweaver).
All of the new tools available to us are astounding but, for someone partially familiar with the tools but unfamiliar with the new workflows, the Creative Cloud can be daunting: there is simply so much.
I have two projects I would like to work on, the first is a blog that will incorporate videos of recorded shows, and host essays and writing on creative criticism, the second is a web page for a tutoring and academic writing service.
What I am looking for isn't a hand to hold while I do all of this, but a bit more specific a vector for where to begin my learning. I am used to the old method of designing, slicing, and fighting with pixels and tables, and having to manually set styles on static portions of web pages; CSS is a new ball game for me, as it was only in its infancy when I was doing this years ago.
Should I be using Dreamweaver, or Edge Reflow these days, if I am more of a designer/writer than an artist? What about Muse; though I find that Muse doesn't render graphics very well and content becomes blurry (like blurred 1px lines rather than crisp images like in PS)? I'd like to be able to repackage my blog in a mobile app one day, likewise for the tutoring service, but that one much farther down the road.
So, I guess, I've put on my blindfold, and am ready to pin the tail on the donkey, but I need someone to give me a spin first. I know there isn't much detail in this post, but I don't want to start rambling about things that don't really matter yet; but I do have the projects outlined and ready for green lights, so I can fill in more details as required.
    Best,
    Jared.

I only use Appleworks 6 to create documents. The printer is Photosmart 3200 all-in-one

  • I'm looking for a video of a good, comprehensive demonstration of what Motion 5 can do.

All I can find so far are tutorials... any suggestions?

I don't know of anything like that. What have you not been able to figure out from the Apple web page for Motion?  It looks like you are using Final Cut Pro X, all of the titles, generators, transitions, templates are created in Motion. Companies like Ripple Training and MotionVFX create plug-in tools or templates that are built in Motion, so those are good places to see the capabilites in action.  I know these are brief, but here are some overviews by training companies that discuss what Motion can do:
    http://www.lynda.com/Motion-5-tutorials/Essential-Training/82541-2.html
    http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide
    http://www.rippletraining.com/categories/apple-pro-apps-tutorials/motion-5-tutor ials/getting-started-in-motion-5.html
Other than that, maybe you can explain what projects you might want to use Motion for or what capabilites you are looking for?

  • Which language for a tutor website.

    Hi Gurus,
Which language do you think would be more adequate for a website with video chat and a whiteboard.
In sum, a website for tutoring classes?

This falls into the category of
Content Management Frameworks, of which there are quite a few on the market to choose from, some of them free. For example, you should take a look at
Drupal and Joomla, both being very popular. It's a higher level approach that trying to build this yourself using C# and ASP.NET.
There are many more but the most popular (Open Source) that are written in .NET are
    DotNetNuke and
    Umbraco.
I don't think that a CMS platform is always the best choice for every website out there, if the goal is to build a website that does just the things you specified and you have enough time then sometimes it's better to build it from the ground up.
CMS platforms tend to be quite large in size and it takes time to learn the framework and the plugin architecture of the platform before you can actually build on it.
The language you use to build the website is insignificant you can achieve the same thing in either PHP, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Java, C# or any other language that has a web framework.
Without a web framework you will have to speak to things like protocols and sockets as well as manage threads and whatnot in short low level stuff that no one wants to do/touch.
Most of the frameworks in most languages are mature enough to support you so just go with the language you like, know or have the most experience and use it.
Obviously, every language and/or framework has some advantages and some disadvantages and knowing them is a benefit but that's where your experience as a developer comes into play, reading about it isn't enough (although you should) you need to develop on
each language with different frameworks, different platform to really understand so the best advice that I can give you is do some research (not too much or you will get confused), start somewhere and continue from there, don't look for the perfect language
even though C# is awesome. ;)
P.S. I'm moving it doesn't really belong to the C# forum.
    Regards, Eyal Shilony
