Looking for a way to monitor forums for a text string.

Hi as the subject says I'm looking for a way to monitor various forums for a list of text strings and give me a link to the post. I'm have tried googling but cant find anything specific enough I've tried looking at methabot but am unsure as to if this is the right sort of program, anyone with any experience or ideas in this area would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

you could write a daemon method which would, every so often, search the forums for the keyword.
Better yet, you can use google's "site: bbs.archlinux.org keyword format to do your search.
But, be sure not to do it too often. If you keep banging a particular forum website too often, your ip might get banned.

  • Looking for an OID string for the IE-3000 switch

    I'm looking for the OID string on a IE-3000 switch to give me the results for the optical Tx and Rx power as shown in the "show interface transceiver" command (this is the output i ran directely from the IE-3000 switch, BTW):
                                     Optical   Optical
               Temperature  Voltage  Tx Power  Rx Power
    Port       (Celsius)    (Volts)  (dBm)     (dBm)
    Gi1/1        30.1       3.29      -6.1      -7.3
    The OID I am using on our 6509 switch for Rx power is .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.1.1.1.4.xxx (where xxx is the ifindex number), but I can't seem to find anything similar for it on the IE3000.  The closest I have found are the following, but those appear to be just descriptor tags:
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.2.1029 (tx)
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.2.1030 (rx)
    Thanks for any help!
    Kim

    Kim,
    Have you tried the Cisco on-line tool called the SNMP Object Navigator?
    You can use it to translate OID into object name or object name into OID to receive object details.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en
    If you cannot find the reply you need in this forum, try posting to the LAN or WAN Routing and Switching forums.  This forum is mainly for optical issues (SONET, SDH, equipment)
    Hope this helps,

  • I am looking for a text to speech app that supports the Books App?

    I am looking for a text to speech app that supports the Books App?

    If Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver does not work, then it is unlikely iBooks will do text to speach on its own in the current version.
    <http://www.apple.com/feedback>
    I know that some competing services, Kindle, Nook, etc... are restricted in doing text to speach by the book publishers.
    If this is text in a PDF (not an ebook), then maybe there is another app that can to text to speach on PDFs.
    If it is published books that are of interest, there is Audible.com <http://www.audible.com/>
    In theory it should be possible to use the Mac OS X Text to Speach facilities to convert a document into an audio file, and they sync that to the iPod Touch.  I assume there is similar text to speach utilities for Windows systems.
    I'm also guessing that there are web sites dedicated to assisting sight impaired individuals that might provide ideas for getting text to speach options for the iPod Touch.

  • Looking for a text entry component

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a text entry component I can insert in some HTML pages and that will allow the end user to enter and format texts.
    Do you know if such a component exists and where I can find it ?

    I think I didn't took enough time to read your answer.
    Do you mean the textara object in an applet will solve my problem ? most of the time, I'm developing java servlets and html pages but not applets. I'll try to have a look.

  • How to search for a text string in Reports designer?

    In iDS reports (10gR2), I want to search from top down for a text string was used in one of the queries or triggers. In Forms, you can do it, in reports the related menu item is always seems to be grayed out no matter what item I pick in the Navigator. Is it doable or not? If yes, then how. I don't wanna open each program piece including the queries in the data model, report triggers or program units and look for (by visual scanning) for the text I am searching for. This is crazy. There must be a way to do it. Thanx.

    That is pretty bad for such an expensive report development program. The forms allows it, I wonder why Oracle did not include similar functionality in the reports developer. I knew the conversion to ascii, but during development it is pain in the ... just to search for a simple text string in the related program units in the report, to convert to ascii, do the search and then go back to the developer. Anyway, if that is the only way, there is nothing we can do I guess :(

  • I'm looking for a text/music notation app

    I am a drummer in a cover band who would like to use my iPad for my shorthand version of drum charts.  What I currently have is a paper notebook, in which I have dedicated a page for each set.  On each page, I have the song title, then the main drum beat(s) (written in musical notation), followed by any notes regarding arrangement, tempo, etc.  All of this is condensed down into a couple of lines, so I can fit about 10 songs on each sheet of paper.  I could scan in what I have now and view it that way, but I would rather have clear and editable digital based notation and text.  Does anything like this exist, not for composing and arranging orchestral pieces, but for simply inserting a bar or 2 of music into some text?
    In other words:
    Locked Out Of Heaven    I------------------------------------I   Intro/V/PC/C/V/C etc...        120 bpm
                                         I---Musical notation---------I
                                         I------------------------------------I
                                         I------------------------------------I

  • Looking for a Text Plugin PS CS5

    Looking for a comprehensive Plugin that can create many types of text effects.  I would even pay for it if nothing freeware is available.
    Thanks,

    What kinds of effects do you want to create?  The word "comprehensive" is pretty vague.
    There are many things you can do with the CHARACTER panel, as well as Layer Styles, and you can do many, many, many more by using paths or rasterization or...

    I've been programming in LV for about a year now and would like to learn more. What is the best text to buy that begins beyond the basics, or are the manuals packaged with LV 8.6 the best way to continue to learn more intermediate and advanced features?

  • What is the correct syntax for Sumif when condition is for a text string?

    B2 and b3 both contain the text "Grc".
    C2 contains 1 and C3 contains 2.
    F2 contains a Sumif that reads as: =SUMIF(B2:B10, "=Grc", C2:C10)
    The result is "0" when it should yield 3
    I can't figure out what happened.

    Hi ishii,
    Your screen shots make no sense to me. I am using Numbers'09 on a MacBook Pro running OS X. Please tell us what device, operating system and app you are using. You still have not told us.
    This forum is for Numbers on a Mac running OS X. Is your screen shot from an iOS device?
    I don't know anything about Numbers for iOS.
    Or are you using Excel?
    I can not help you. If you are using an iPad, you will get a better answer in this forum:

  • Quick look for text files with non-registered extensions

    It seems there was a way in 10.5 and 10.6 to register certain extensions with Quick Look to tell them how to preview a file. I have a lot of plain text files with different extensions that are not initially recognized by Quick Look. How do I hack the registry to tell Quick Look to preview a .cfg (or .aux, etc.) file as plain text?

    Can't Quick Look for some text files

    How do I add support to Quick Look

  • Quick Look for files without extensions.

    I have many files without extensions that quick look does not recognize as text files. Bash shell scripts generally do not use an extension, for example (they are identified by their first line). Similarly I have a lot of text file notes w/o a ".txt" extensions.
    Is there any way to have quick look recognize these as text files? They currently have either text edit or textmate as their default "open with" app. I presume there is a config file of some sort for quick look that will let me default files with no extension to text files, but have not found it yet.

  • Looking for vowels...

    Hey guys..
    I need a helping hand with this project. Is it possible to use a for loop and then scan through a string the user inputs to look for vowels(aeiou)
    then print how many a's there are?
    I'm not askign for somebody to do this for me...but could you give me a step in the right direction?
    Thanks, ps2cho

    Here's a more generic (and re-usable) way of doing this://---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    * Finds the first occurrence in a string of any character in a set of characters.
    * @param string The string to check.
    * @param chars The characters to search for (the function searches for the individual
    * characters, not the string).
    * @return The index of the first character found (-1 if none found).
    static public int firstOf(String string, String chars)
       int first = -1;
       for (int i = 0; i < chars.length(); ++i)       // For each of the characters
          int index = string.indexOf(chars.charAt(i)); // Look for it in string
          if (index != -1)                             // If we find it
             first = index;                          // Store its index
             break;                                      // & we're done
       return first;
    }
