Looking for an advanced prototype sample

Hey,
I'm an Interaction Designer at a digital full service agency
in Scandinavia, and I'm trying to find examples showing how
suitable Fireworks CS3 is when working with clickable website
prototypes. I'm looking for examples of interactive prototypes made
with Fireworks CS3. And I would lik all this to show:
- clicking between subpages
- drop-down menus
- roll-over buttons
- creative and advanced menu design
- AJAX-imitating interactions
- animations
Does anyone know of such a sample?

• Looking for Active Data Service samples with RDBMS change notification fire

Hi,
I am looking for samples/examples of Active Data Service when a server side event, like RDBMS change notification got triggered.
The ADS samples that I found so far are:
- Twitter http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/learnmore/65-activedataservicestwittersample-191314.pdf
- http://adfwithejb.blogspot.com/2012/12/active-data-service-with-active-image.html
- http://adfwithejb.blogspot.com/2012/12/active-data-serivce-with-data.html
But these samples do not demonstrate how RDBMS change notification got triggered got triggered. The last two samples have a Runnable class that simulate the triggering, and the Twitter example is twitter stream notification.
Please shed some lights on Active Data Service with RDBMS change notification got triggered.
Thanks

Hi Mina,
Check this 2 resources, first a presentation made at OOW by Lucas Jellema: http://www.slideshare.net/lucasjellema/push-to-the-limit-rich-and-proactive-user-interfaces-with-adf-oracle-open-world-2011
second an interesting forum thread around the the topic: ADF BC and the Active Data Service using af:table from what I know this is still valid as of today.
After reviewing the topic there is also one more link that address this topic:

• Looking for an advanced flash animation part-time course

Hi folks,
I am primarily a programmer, a games programmer by trade who happened to pick up Flash on the side and later through a series of coincidences became a full time flash developer. Most of my work thus far has been code heavy, and has focussed on such things as interacting with web services, localization with xml files, flash video, streaming video, networking etc.
My employer recently lost one of its contractors who built a lot of animation heavy flash apps for them, and as I know my way around the Flash IDE quite well, and have created fairly complex animations in the past, they have asked me to assume a more animation orientated role. To this end, they have offered to send me on courses to get up to speed with Flash animation.
As I know probably 90-95% of Flash's capabilities, and am comfortable with animating / easing / masking / filters / tweening and how to produce these effects programmatically, my interest would lie in a course that teaches fairly advanced uses / best practices of flash. For instance, I find that there are many ways to do things in Flash, but only a few approaches that will get you there without the entire IDE coming to a grinding halt (shape hints is a good one, or perhaps an approach has forced you into a corner with many tweened animations which now need a small alteration made to all of them).
Are any of you aware of courses that can take a fairly advanced flash user's knowledge and turbo charge it with tips, tricks, best practices and approaches to complex animation? I've found plenty of courses that will teach you the basics, but going on them would be a waste of time and money. If any of you are familiar with the Programming Gems series of books, what they do for a game programmers knowledge of programming would be a good analogy for what I'd like a course in flash animation to do for me.

I have no idea to offer regarding courses for what you request. Since you seem to be confident of your skills, maybe you should just create a project for yourself that would involve needing to know the things you want to learn and pursue it with extreme prejudice--solving aspects one at a time as you encounter them. That's pretty much the approach I took in learning AS3 and it helped alot.

• Looking for choir/vocal samples

I have a MacPro and am learning the basics of Logic 7. I compose classical and orchestral types of scores and am looking for some choir/vocal samples that I can use to lay down tracks for vocalists (so they can learn the parts) and as alternatives to 'live performers'.
The only two that I have found on the threads here are:
1. Bela D Media's Diva Voices/ Children's Choir
2. EastWest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Choirs
I haven't heard to many good things about NI compatibility with logic and am wondering if there are samples that may be used in Logic's native exs24 sampler.
Much of the music is for church and for small vocal groups.
Any suggestions for other vocal samples or insight from users who are actually using these samples successfully in Logic would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Green,
1. Yes, AKAI converts ok to EXS, no sweat!
2. Logic! Open the EXS, drag the 4 CD-Roms to A Folder on the HD,
if this folder is on a different partition from Logic, make an Alias
of that folder and drag it to the Library (have a peak on the manual
to know where to drop it, probably: System>Library>Application Support>Logic>Sampler Instruments).
Then in EXS (top right) Click on options AKAI Convert.
Simple.
3. I have my samples on a 5400rpm drive (Powerbook).
I have a dedicated drive for audio (7200 rpm LACie).
To convert and load samples for the first time it may took you a bit.
but once you have load a bank it's pretty fast.
I've just Loading say, the London Choir Ahs Bank (boys & girls),
in 2 to 3 secounds! :o)
Once it's loaded it's just like a preset, don't worry.
Best regards,
Jorge

Does anyone know where I can download .zip file?
Thanks

Hello Yurii,
These samples are located on the Business Objects Download page. Start from the Business Objects link above in horizontal menu bar, then click the Business Objects Download link on the left after that page loads.
Once you get to the Business Objects Download page set the search criteria to these values:
Software Product - Crystal Reports
Product Version - XI Release 2
Software Type - Sample
After searching look for the "[RDC ASP Samples for CR XI R2 (Developer Edition only)|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005919782008E/aspxmps115.zip]" - probably at the bottom of the list. This is the link for the aspxmps115.zip file.

• New window manager (with prototype!) [wmii-like] --- looking for help

I have a prototype for a new window manager in the style of wmii. It is called
cakewm. I currently have a prototype version implemented in pygame, and would
like help moving this to use X---making it a real window manager.
Disclaimer: I have a very limited knowledge of X11 and window manager
development. The most I've done is add a couple new features to wmfs.
To get the code
> git clone git://github.com/saikobee/cakewm.git
Then run main.py. cakewm depends on pygame.
Upon running, press Alt-Enter to fullscreen cakewm and intercept keybinds, or
Alt-Space to just intercept keybinds. Press Alt-Esc to quit. The window
manager related keybinds are listed in the file binds.conf.
Config note: <WSCA-x> means Windows-Shift-Control-Alt-x
Implementation note: pypixel.py is a large and mostly useless dependency. I
forked a library I made previously rather than coding straight in pygame.
cakewm's goals are to be similar to wmii, but with more functionality, easier
configurability, and saner defaults.
- cakewm is fully functional using the keyboard. Mouse support can come later.
- cakewm provides 9 workspaces per monitor.
- cakewm manages each workspace as a group of columns. Each column is like a
wmii default split, except each window can have other windows "stacked" on
top of or behind it.
- cakewm manages column sizes (and window sizes within columns) using a
master/slave paradigm, with the ability to adjust the size ratios.
- cakewm's configuration file is simple key=val pairs, with the ability to
include other files like in C.
- cakewm has a slightly larger emphasis on window decorations (adjustable
size---even in tiled mode) and themes (nothing bloated, like pixmaps or
gradients---it's all still simple colors).
- cakewm will have proper support for international text (Japanese text in
window titles or the wmii status bar generally render as boxes) through the
use of a more advanced text library such as Pango.
Please let me know if you have comments, questions, or concerns. If you are
interested in helping, get in touch with me. If you know somewhere better to
look for volunteers, please let me know.

The thing about wireless, I actually like command line, but there are a few things that are worth having a applet or something.
And wireless is one of those. I guess I can take a look on wicd.
It's a good idea to have compiz as the WM actually. Would it be lightweight to have it like that?
Is there anybody here that uses compiz as a WM?
For the xfce4-panel, is it possible to get transparency on it? That's probably the only thing holding me back with xfce4-panel.
If "able to run compiz" wasn't a requisite, what other WM would you suggest for my "profile" ?
I would like to hear other users opinions who like to customize everything on a WM.
I recommend running Compiz by itself. There is a good wiki page on it in the Arch wiki. Some apps you'll want to go with it are:
LXAppearance --change GTK/icon theme
Feh or Nitrogen --Set Wallpaper
Xfce4-panel --The lightest one that works with Compiz properly
Or, if you don't want a panel: stalonetray
Compiz-deskmenu --For a customizable right-click main menu
Gmrun --Run dialog (Alt+F2 in most DEs)
And this helped me a lot.
Thank you all for the replies. I appreciate.
Xfce4-panel can have transparency. The only problem is that everything become transparent: text, icons, everything.
I use Compiz as a standalone WM and it is much lighter than DE+Compiz. My Compiz setup uses about 30MB(out of 1GB) more RAM than my Openbox setup (which are both the same except for the WM).

• Looking for sample code to create my own pub/sub!

I am a new bee in JMS. So I would really appreciate if
some one could give me some hint to start up with my school project. I am looking for a sample Java code that will:
For the Publisher:
1. Connect to a broker [create it, if it does not exist]
2. Create a publisher/destination.
3. Create a pub-sub queue
4. Publish a message
5. Ack or Nak depending on if the subscriber got or did not get the message.
For the Subscriber:
1. Connect to a broker [create it, if it does not exist]
2. Subscribe to the broker
3. Subscribe to the Queue
4. Show an received messages on the console.
Here are the command line params for both the Publisher and subscriber:
runPub 127.0.0.1:7676 myTestBroker myQueue "this is my message"
runSub 127.0.0.1:7676 myTestBroker myQueue
Please tell me if there are similar java code that will do all this and work with ANY JMS compatible client. i.e. I should not have to use the Admin tool of any JMS Server (MQSeries, iPlanet, SonicMQ etc etc). The code should follow the JMS spec and do this programmatically.
Thank you very very much in advance for doing this great favor.
With regards,
Amir.

Thanks a lot for that hint. I think that's a great tutorial for a beginner. I could compile those sample codes from chapter 4 with out any problem, but could not run it. I also installed j2sdkee1.3.1 and updated my classpath according to the spec. But when I tried to run the "j2ee -verbose" command it was giving me the following error message:
ERROR: Set J2EE_HOME before running this script.
Any advise for me that I should follow next. Thanks again.

• Ubber Newbie Looking for Basic Samples

Hello- I've spent the last 3 hours or so trying to create a very basic calculator in Flex (aka: add a couple input cells). Spent time looking through videos, reading documentation, etc. Much of it assumes programming background or web development experience of which I have little.
So, wanted to find some very basic application samples I could take apart and learn from. I found some, but they are pretty advanced and most depend on communication to/from the internet (tons of facebook and photo apps).
I'm just looking for a simple calculator/mortgage calculator application I can take apart and learn from.
Anyone know where I can find examples for super basic users?
Thanks!
- Mr. Bill

Here is an extremely basic example of one way it can be done. You of course would need more operators, conditional code to handle those operators, and several other functions and formulas - especially for mortgages - but hopefully this will get you started on the basic method.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" height="208" width="444">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
private function BasicCalc():void
var CalculatedValue:Number=Number(TextInput1.text) + Number(TextInput2.text);
ResultText.text=String(CalculatedValue);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:TextInput id="TextInput1" x="24" y="41" width="50" textAlign="right" text="1"/>
<mx:TextInput id="TextInput2" x="24" y="71" width="50" textAlign="right" text="2"/>
<mx:Text id="ResultText" x="44" y="101" text="0" width="30" textAlign="right"/>
<mx:Button id="CalcButton" x="82" y="41" label="Calc" width="57" height="52" click="BasicCalc()"/>
</mx:Application>
