Looking for an in-depth levels tutorial

I am looking for an in-depth tutorial on levels adjustment layer. NO VIDEOS please. I am looking for something that explains the axes and all of the controls in the levels adjustment layer and what they do in detail. The articles I have found so far are to superficial. Thanks.

I share your aversion to video tutorials, although I've learned a lot by watching YouTube tutorials on my TV.
This isn't a tutorial per se, but it is a good place to start: https://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop_reference.pdf
Page 306 begins a discussion about "Correcting Images," and covers levels and curves, with links to supportive information.
I also found this, which gives some basic information, and does include a video, which you can ignore:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/levels-adjustment.html
I hope that helps.

I am looking for an online tutorial on how to do color correction if the video one is working with has color bars.  This happens on a lot of analog videotapes that come to me.  I know what my scopes are suppposed to look like when analyzing color bars, but I need something that shows me how to get from A to B.
If I Google some varient of "color correction video color bars," all I get is information on calibrating monitors.
    I am using Premiere CS5.5
Thanks in adavnce for any response!

  • [OT]looking for CHM format of Tiger Tutorial

    Hi
I am not sure if this is the right forum to place this request. I apologize if it isn't.
I am looking for the CHM format of the SUN J2SE 1.5 (Tiger) tutorial
I have searched online and contacted the CHM's creator (Franck Allimant @ http://www.allimant.org/javadoc/index.php). Both the endeavors failed.
I will appreciate it if any one shares their copy of the SUN J2SE 1.5 tutorial, CHM format, with me.
    Regards
    Kalyan

I want the CHM version for the chapter-wise bookmarks.
I have no intentions of re-distribution and I definitely did not state anything to that effect. Its strictly for personal consumption.
For further details, I think the following links will be appropriate -

  • Looking for a generic Postscript level 2 driver

I have an older laser printer (Canon LPB 4 plus) with a postscript card that reads PostScript 2
The generic driver which loads when I connected the printer is PostScript 3
Canon does not make a Mac driver for this printer.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get my printer to work with my MacBook Pro which is running 10.5.3 ?
    Thanks,
    Cicada

I downloaded the drivers as you specified and I can now print to my printer!
    Thanks!
There are a couple of noncritical problems with the driver, but nothing that I cannot live with for the present.
    1) Print jobs are not listed in the queue.
    2) Sporadic situations where the print job does not get sent to the printer until I pull out the USB cable and reinsert it.
    3) The print image sent to the printer seems to be size A4 instead of US Letter. All defaults are set to US Letter in the PPD and in the print panels, but the printer is reporting that I need to load in A4 paper. It will go ahead and print to my US Letter size paper after the error message, so it is not a big problem. It is curious though.
    Thanks Again.
    Cicada
It would still be great to get a PS level 2 driver if someone knows where to find one. I would be curious as to whether it would result in better looking printouts.

  • Looking for simple AJAX content-loading tutorial

    Hi there,
I'm working on putting together a graphic portfolio website. The main navigation will come from a fixed-position menu overlay.
For this reason, I'd like the contents (text and images) to be loaded via AJAX. So the static menu doesn't disappear and re-appear (however quickly) on each load.
Is there a basic, simple tutorial somewhere on how to do this?

  • Looking for step-by-step tutorial for in-app purchase with iOS

    Hello everyone,
I'm in a bit of an unusual situation here. I'm currently working in a company, the elder programmers of which are in a different project while my humble self is charged with the task to develop for iOS with Flash Pro CS5.5.
Our Creative Director is planning the app to have an in-app purchase feature for some content. The problem is, that I have never dealt with such core programming yet, so I don't yet have an understanding of how to imagine the process of the in-app purchase itself. Sure, I googled and read through the tutorials explaining the certificates and the procedure of getting the information from Apple to be able to publish Apps. But I haven't found a decent tutorial explaining the programming part of an iOS in-app purchase with AS3 yet. It might be because developing with Flash for iOS is currently developing (haha) and so the community is still growing, but surely there are already people who managed to get it all running, one only need to know where to look for them.
So is there anybody out there, who could either explain himself, or point me into the right direction where someone else explains it, so I can learn the full process of integrating an in-app purchase function into an App developed for iOS with Flash and AS3?
I would be incredibly thankful for information of any kind, that would help me.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Mike,
We have conducted several webinars around the world and all the recorded sessions are available in the PSD calendar (https://psd.sap-ag.de/PEC/calendar/). Just search for B1 sessions archived in May/June this year 2011.
You will need an SAP user in order to be able to see them.
There are also some theoric sessions on the SMP at http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000741411&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=011000358700001192682007E& .

  • Looking for a good tutorial or book for 3D composite

Hi, I do editing for 3D animation at work (simple kind) and working along with 2 other 3D modelers.
We recently came down to the conclusion that we need to composite to be able to render our animation.
However, none of us really know how to do 3D composite, including myself.
(I mean we know the simple composite using alpha channels and such... but not to the point to using z-depth or shadow maps... etc..).
I was looking around online and book store to find out if there is any good resources for us to learn. I do not have much luck of it, unfortunately.
I'd like to have our 3D modlers to know how to split to all different layers for a clean composite purpose.... (like for me to use in Shake ). From what I found out, higher end composite, you can split most of the gemoetries its own object IDs, and shadow map/layers, lighting layers... (even they render separetely, it do cast shadow as other objects surrounds it, or refection..) and then composite in one scene.
I believe we create pretty good animation when we rendered them all together in one scene, and now we are up to the point that there are too many geometeries and render farm computers can't handle to render (and they are not lower end compters but they crash when we try to render with not enough memories).
I'm not really looking for having real footage as background and 3D infront .. that kind of composite...
If there is anyone can direct me to a right book? or online website to learn more of this stuff for all of us, I'll be really appriciate it.
    Thank you for your time...

  • Looking for a specific tutorial

I just got Photoshop Elements free with a Wacom tablet and I would like to tinker with it. I've always wanted to take a photo and edit it so that everyone has the same person's head just as a gag. I was wondering if anyone knows of any tutorials that show how to go about doing this sort of thing.

Looks like we'll have to put the miracle status on hold for a bit...that's not the article he's looking for. I've seen the same one before, and I'm pretty sure it came from Mark Spencer. He demonstrates the use of the Motion 3 "motion-tracking" tool by shrinking the head of a guy walking across a parking lot. Pretty cool tutorial and not at all the same one in the link above.
Wish I knew where I'd seen it, but I can't recall at the moment.

  • Looking for a specific tutorial I can no longer find

    Folks,
Before I purchased FCS 2.0 I saw a tutorial online that I didn't bookmark and now I can't find it. So if anyone can help me locate it, based on the description, I will be very grateful!
It showed how to automatically track a subject. There was a guy walking in a parking lot and the effect applied was that he had his head shrank and there was some fine tuning on the effect so that the motion was smooth. He was walking from right to left. Does anyone know where this tutorial is?
Sorry for posting this here but I've been searching like crazy and can't find it
    Best regards,
    Ismenio

Im looking for a replacement of "Default Zoom Level" addon. Why is this disabled in Firefox 5/6? Is there a similar addon or how can I set the default zoom?

Did you do a compatibility check?
That is required in cases where the extension has a maxVersion (in this case 4.0.*) set in the XPI file and the server has the correct compatibility data ([[https://versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org/update/VersionCheck.php?reqVersion=2&id={D9A7CBEC-DE1A-444f-A092-844461596C4D}&version=4.5&maxAppVersion=6.0&status=userEnabled&appID={ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}&appVersion=5.0&appOS=Windows&appABI=x86-msvc&locale=en-US&currentAppVersion=5.0&updateType=97 8.*]]).
