Looking for answer

Here is my problem. I spent hours on the phone with tech support working to get my Airport Extreme to connect to my power mac (via ethernet, which was working) and my laptop (via airport card, not working). Granted at the end of the phone call, I had internet access on the laptop and could connect to each computer, but I was told in order to have internet access on my laptop, my power mac had to be turned on and awake. This just doesn't sound correct to me. I don't understand why you would not be able to have internet access via airport w/out the power mac on?
Here is my setup:
-Airport Extreme
-WAN port to cable modem
-LAN port to G5 power mac
-airport card connecting iBook G3

No. We were on the phone for almost 2 hours and it was very clear, at least it should have been what my set up was. I told him exactly how I had everything set up, several times. This was my problem:
I have a G5 power mac, a G3 iBook, and an Airport Extreme Base Station. The G5 is connected to the base station via ethernet, no airport card. The iBook has an airport card, so it should connect wirelessly. Both computer are using OS 10.3. When I called, I could connect to the internet on the power mac, but not on the iBook. I could mount the iBooks hard drive onto the powermac, but not the other way around.
The only solution he had, after 2 hours, was to turn on internet sharing on the power mac. This resolved the problem, but brought about another problem of having to have my powermac on to use the internet on the iBook. Didn't seem like a solution to me.
I guess I will just start from scratch and hope I can figure it out.

Relatively new user of Adobe LR5 and PS CC, about a year old.
If they should be stored somewhere beside the folder that contains the originals, where and how to change the settings?
If I choose to write metadata to the original files, is that sidecar files or does the XMP file show separately?
To be honest, I usually find a video and I cannot figure this out. I have never received an answer on any of my questions by the way.

So I love my iPad, and I will soon get an iphone. But regardless of those purchases, I still have a PC and I will continue using it.
But I love my iPad as my main personal organizer, (contacts, calendar, etc). So I want to be able to use my iPad to update stuff and have my contacts, calendar, and purchases apply to my PC as well as my future iPhone. Since apple devices sync my easily, I decided to make this discussion to help others as well as my self set up apple to windows related things.

Apps - This part is DONE

So, you have to turn the MUSIC, APPs, BOOKS on through iTunes(PC) as well as your devices. So now, buying apps, as long as you devices/PC has your account logged in, it should apply my purchase to all of them at once.
Book Marks- This part is DONE
I like to use chrome. But to sync them together, I exported all of my Chrome bookmarks, and shoved it into Safari, it seemed easier than using IE.
I then synced my ipad's book marks into Safari. Now Safari, on my PC, contains ALL of my iPad and Chrome book marks. I then exported the bookmarks from safari and imported it into Chrome. A bit longer and annoying, but it worked.
So from now on, all Chrome bookmarks on my PC will have to be added to Safari. And my iPad bookmarks, will require me to carry it from Safari to Chrome.
Photos - This part is DONE
So, in my own opinion, Photo stream is stupid. All this is, is Dropbox for pictures.
On a PC, after setting it up, it will give you a Photo Stream Folder. ANY pictures you put into Photo Stream Folder will be on photo stream and sync to all of your devices that have it turned on. But, in order to KEEP this picture, you must save each one or else it will auto delete in 30 days.
But, any photo that you take SHOULD automatically download into your PC. Which will also require you to save the photos into a different folder.
My boss at work figured this part out. IN ORDER TO ERASE photos off of photo stream, you will have to reset photo stream, which will kill the cloud distrubution of the pictures to each device, and erase those pictures on the cloud. Then you have to delete it off each device.
We believe that apple will change this. I mean, its kind of pointless if you can erase the pictures.
This part is where I had to use Outlook 2010.
Please note, This is a brand new outlook, I do not care about anything previously inside and there is nothing for me to erase or lose
eMails - This part is DONE
So the point of this part is to sync your iPad mails with your Outlook 2010. I don't use this, because I still prefer to go to each of my 3 individual email accounts to send mail. If I were out and about, I would be accessing each email through the website or my iPad, so I do not see the point in setting up the email sync.
But in order to use eMail, contact, calendar sync with Outlook, I had to make a default account. I HAVE NO CLUE what that means, but the error was this
"Setup can not continue becuase outlook isnt configured to have a defualt profile. Check your outlook settings and try again."
So find the settings a set a default account. IF you wanted to set the account to your @me.com account, then you will have to connect that email to outlook. But, it WONT WORK! I used these settings

p99-smtp.mail.me.com > outgoing
check remember password and SPA
then go to "more settings" > "Advanced" tab and enter
For IMAP Port :"993" or just choose SSL from the encrytion dropdown
For SMTP Port : "587" and choose Auto from the encrytion dropdown. (do not choose SSL)
then goto outgoing server tab
check first box ...SMTP

Calendar - This part is PARTIALLY DONE
My original Calendar was on Gmail, I synced my calendar from my gmail to my iPad. But with the new iCloud, I want it to all be on the cloud. I think I can sync the iCloud's calendar into outlook, but I cannot push my calendar from Outlook into iCloud.
So ON my iPad, I did a list view, and clicked on each event (thank god I only had 6 months worth of stuff, and changed it from my gmail calendar to save onto my ipad. So then since the events are now saved onto my iPad, I pushed that into the iCloud.
Now all that is left to do is to PUSH my iCloud Calendar into my Outlook. So then when I update stuff, it will show up on my PC.
But with the iCloud Control Panel, I cannot sync my Calendar. I keep getting this error

I have no clue what to do

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.

Threaded Sudoku solver - Assignment question (NOT LOOKING FOR ANSWERS )

I'm going to be upfront and point out this is an assignment that i'm currently working on and i'm not receiving much in the way of feedback from the class forums.
This is currently a 4th year OO assignment for UNSW Australia.
What I am having trouble doing is figuring out where my program is deadlocking or dying. There have been a number of requirements set out by the assignment, basically no synchronization, no locking. We are able to use volatile, atomic, immutable and thread-local objects. The task is to find all solution for a given N x N sudoku problem using X number of threads. I have successfully built the solver (X = 0) without too much trouble and I thought i had managed to modify the recursive algorithm to suit but unfortunately I think I have come unstuck.
Any generalized tips would be appreciated when implementing threads that utilise checking flags to determine when the thread is finished processing.

Honestly, I think that recursion (as you stated) would be the easiest way to have solved this problem. But as you stated, threads must be used to solve this problem as a requirement of the project...
You could easily launch a Thread each time instead of calling your recursive method... that could possibly result in a crap load of threads, but the idea would work.
Definitely take a look at the SwingWorker class here if you're able to use J2SE 6: [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/SwingWorker.html|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/SwingWorker.html]
I currently use it while gathering data from several websites at the same time. What I did was create and execute() X number of MySwingWorker objects to collect the data, while they are not complete (i.e. MySwingWorker.isDone() is false) I just Thread.sleep(...).
Give it a try. It may suit your needs.

Looking for Answers: Bootcamp, WinXP, SATA drive speed

Hey - I'm wondering if someone can pass along some info. I've yet to upgrade to 10.5 I'm running a 2.66 4-core MacPro under 10.4.11.
I am still running the Bootcamp Beta and my original sp2 install of WinXpPro.
And my SATA drives are dog-dead-slow! I've been looking around the net and most of the SATA/Drive/Bootcamp talk comes from early 2006.
My thought was Bootcamp only installed Windows - and since I have already installed windows (for 2 pieces of graphics software), I wonder if I upgrade to 10.5 and the new Bootcamp, will my drives run at full speed?

NoClassDefFoundError - spent 2 hours looking for answer

Hopefully you will not have seen this error message in the title and just discounted me as lazy. I have searched several tutorials and replies, all of which make sense, but none of which work for me.
I am trying to run the following very simple program from the command line (I can run it fine in my IDE):

I am using Windows 2000 and have set the following environment variables:

I try and run the file by changing to the directory where Welcome1.java is, and then typing:
java Welcome1
(This is not part of a package). I get the following error message:
Exception in thread "main": java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
I have even tried moving Welcome1.java into the same directory as java.exe, and it still failed.
Please help, I have a more complicated program I have just developed and am extremely frustrated by being caught up on such a simple problem.

Ditch that JBuilder IDE. Better to learn Java with a text editor and a command shell than using a big IDE that's another black box to you. JMO.
You don't need that system CLASSPATH variable. Best to get rid of it.
This is the most common newbie problem in Java: CLASSPATH.
Open a command shell, go to the directory where your Welcome1.java lives, and type:
javac *.javaThis should give you a Welcome1.class file in that same directory.
To run it, type:
java -classpath . Welcome1The JVM argument "-classpath ." tells the class loader to look in the current directory for class files that it needs.
If you ever have third-party JARs (e.g., JDBC), you'll add them to the CLASSPATH the same way:
javac -classpath jar1.jar;jar2.jar *.java
java -classpath .;jar1.jar;jar2.jar Welcome1Try it and see if it helps. - MOD

Regarding consignment i will say u have to serch the stock in special stock at plant level and not in the unrestricted area, because consignment ,reservation etc are come under special stock .
regarding terms of payement At company code level it is general payment term for the customer.
Master records have separate areas for Financial Accounting, Sales, and Purchasing. You can specify different terms of payment keys in each of these areas. When you then enter a business transaction, the application in question will use the key specified in its area of the master record.
In sales order payment term flow from sales view and not the company code data.
Hi to check ur own records in vk31 just goto Menu option Condition records and choose either change or display as per ur requirement.

IDM Form components - more questions looking for answers

Having gotten deeper into IDM, particularly forms since joining this forum, I am still shocked by the sparse documentation available. here's hoping some of you have found some of this out already:
1. Is there a list of allowed HTML tags that will get through the getLocalizedString without being filtered?
2. Is there an up-to-date list of allowed properties for Form HTML Components? I have tried verbatim several examples from the documentation where I add properties to the EditForm component only to see them throw an exception when the server tries to display the page
3. Is there any way to consistently override IDM putting a nowrap="nowrap" attribute in my forms? I have placed <Property name='nowrap' value='false'/> in numerous locations to no avail.
4. Where can I find more information about setting defaults in the Component Properties object? I have tried to set a lot of component defaults here but only some seem to work.
Any and all help will be rewarded with much praise and thanks.

I was thinking about buying an iPad online as I don't really much like going into the apple store, Too crowded, dont like the atmosphere, but after doing some searching and actually seeing threads with alot of ****** of, empty-handed people, I'm unsure.
I wanna buy an iPad 3 online but I'm worried. I'm scared that something might happen in the mail. Like what if I get an empty box, like so many peope on here seemed to? Would I be completely screwed or would apple help me out?

Still looking for answers about wifi problems

since the last update, i couldn't get connected to the net using wifi, i talked with my provider, and the best solution they gave was to unlock the secuity in my modem or router, whatever, i did, i was aware of the consequences, and i've been like this since for a month or little more, but till this morning, my mac was off, and i saw my modem was being in use, so i turned on my mac, and checked my modem status, and i saw there were at least 5 computers using my connection. i had to put the securiry again, and at this moment i'm using the ethernet method.
If my problem can't be solved at least i like to get some answers, something.

Looking for answers - at wit's end (a "wake from sleep" nightmare)

I've got a 20" 2.1Ghz iMac G5 w/ integrated iSight camera. I bought this computer in January right after the Intel announcement, and got a great deal on it - at least for the first 4 months I owned it. After having the fans rev up for about a day, the unit completely died. I took it in to a local authorized service center, where they worked on it for 3 (THREE) months. I was told they replaced the main power board twice, as well as the logic board, then finally declared it "better".
Since getting the computer back, I've completely wiped it clean, reinstalled the original operating system, and let System Update do its magic. I'm currently running on 10.4.7...
...and without fail, the machine fails to wake from sleep. After about a minute, the fans rev up, but nothing happens. I have to pull the power cable to get it off, then when I restart it, I get the "computer is set to the wrong time and date" message, and the iMac thinks it's 1999.
There is no 3rd-party memory in the machine - it's stock.
There is nothing other than a Mighty Mouse plugged in.
I'm using the BlueTooth keyboard.
NO applications have been installed.
This is my 12th or 13th Mac, and I've never, ever had any problems remotely this bad. If anyone can shed light on this subject, I would appreciate it. At this point, I just want to send the beast back!!

Hi Dave, welcome to discussions. I think it's time for you to call Apple and tell them your problem, then ask them nicely to replace your machine with a new one. You have certainly had enough repairs to warrant it, so I would be polite but firm; "please replace my computer".

It looks to me like it is a problem on your Windows computer not being able to start an application. It may help if you know or can determine which program Windows is trying to open when you upload photos -- there can be many different ones and it can be set by the user. If you are using Windows 7, you may need to check your Autoplay settings.
