Looking for better phone book widget

The yellow pages (phone book) widget that came with Tiger has let me down many times as after I repaired it many times it continues to come up blank when I type in obvious businesses (such as Kmart, etc...).
I removed that widget. What is a great yellow pages widget that I can download that is reliable?
A direct link to the widget would be much appreciated (as I became a bit frustrated searching for such an alternative widget).

We've all done this, but I decided to test if google is more efficient than my yellow pages widget (when it use to work).
I just did a test search of a local business on google and after clicking 5 of the first links that came up I didn't get a phone number. The 6th google hit result finally produced a phone number.
With a widget, I can customize it to search just my city/area and instantly get phone number results without all the clicking around on google. I actually find it easier to grab an actual phone book and find a business than using google. The widget, on the other hand, was more efficient than google or leafing through a phone book.
You could apply your logic to many widgets - like why use a weather radar widget. Why not just google it or turn on the weather channel. Well, when customized properly to your area, in my opinion, a widget will deliver more quickly and efficiently (looks clean, no advertising, the info. you want just pops up and it's there).

  • Im looking for a phone finder app..like Life360

I don't think I'm using the app store correctly.  I go to the blue round circle witht the A on it and try the search feature.  I'm looking for a phone or devicing finding app. Ihave one on my Samsung called Life 360 and also put it on an Iphone but don't know why I can't find it on the Macbook.

Basically, press Home and the sleep button simultaneously. The screen blinks, you hear a click, and the screenshot's saved to the camera roll. There's some finesse involved in the button pressing, however. Some people claim you have to press and hold Home first, then tap the sleep button. Just be prepared to experiment. I'm on OS 3.0. Other OS versions may behave differently.

You know, it might have been cool to spam us with your project here if it were something cool for Java developers. Just because it's written in Java doesn't mean I want to see it here on a forum intended for Java developers. And I don't think Sun wants to run a de-facto bug tracker for n-type here on this forum.
I can understand your excitement in your project coming to fruition, but Sourceforge has more than the needed resources for you. Try emailing this guy. Try posting on Freshmeat. We're not your marketing department or your focus group, though.
    Good luck with your project.

  • Looking For A Good Book Or Manual for Photoshop Elements 3.0

Photoshop Elements 3.0 is my very first photo editing program and am looking for a book that will show me how to use all of the features. Comments on the following 3 books would be greatly appreciated.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 Classroom in a Book
The Photoshop Elements 3 Book for Digital Photographers
Photoshop elements 3: The Missing Manual

I have PE3 so would be glad to pay the shipping if they are of no use to you anymore. Would both PE2 and 3 be necessary or would PE3 be good enough? Should I contact you by email?
Ken and Colin, your comments are a great help too. Thanks for the responds. I'll look online for The Photoshop Elements 3 Book for Digital Photographers. Wasn't thinking...the only ones at the stores are the more current versions.

  • Looking for Flash 8 Book

    Hi
I work for a video production company and we've recently

will walk me through Flash 8 and Dreamweaver 8. Can anyone suggest
a good book for each program?
    Thanks for the help.

    I am
only slightly exposed to design patterns, so I would
like a book that covers the "introductions" and such
to basic design patterns, as well as more advanced
design patterns as the book progresses. Most
importantly, I don't want a book that assumes
you have already read some other book!I find Holub on Patterns very good,

The above is to a complementary site about the Game of Life, one of two examples used in the book.

  • Looking for a phone # for customer serv

    hello-
im just looking for a customer service number to call about a problem with my Zen Vision M player. for some reason i can't find it on the website.
    thank you

Um...no. No, it doesn't. What it does show you is a nice bar graph that explains how long each form of support is covered by the warranty. But that is it. Go ahead, type "phone number" in the search field. You get nada. Not that I've become bitter after 2 weeks of fruitless installing/uninstalling/reinstalling/installing on different computers/player freezing/player not unfreezing/still no functional player. And no customer phone number to be found on the packaging, the CD-ROM, the website.
    Nope, not bitter at all.

It seems like it should be a common component and there should be one out thereAlas, you will discover that JavaFX is still young and lacks many "common components", starting with combo box, menus, and going to tree and table...
Version 1.3 promises to bring lot of new components, but it isn't there yet.
There are some components people "built from scratch" (combo box, menu, tables), or if mobile isn't a target, they just use Swing components.

  • Looking for better "transitions" plug ins

Hi, I just bought the Photoshop elements and premiere Elements 9 package. Problem is that I am a simple guy who makes a lot of video movies for my work and I just want a very simple "fade in" type transitions to merge my video clips. The ones supplied are to "busy" and are a distraction in my humble opinion. I didn't feel I should have to Up grade or purchase this one simple fade or "cross fade" after spending my $150.00 I did Google free transitions and found the Burgers page that had exactly the transition I was looking for. http://http://www.burgers-transition-site.de/downloads/transitions/transitioncrossfade.htm l
I down loaded it and tried to add it to my existing library of transitions but it couldn't read the codex?  How can I get this simple transition without spend more money? Thank you, Greg McCord

The standard disslove or cross fade that comes with PE9 I would thought would achieve what you want.
You can either have it before or after the break line or equally straddling it.
Simply insert a break line and just drag the effect to the break line.
There is another way that you don't need any 'effects' but gives you complete control of the transition.
When you want the audio to fade differently to the video I put a break in the video and drag the after part up to the second video track and drag it a little earlier by the length of the fade or disslove.
Then right clicking on the clip I select fade in and out on the top track and modify the yellow lines in the tracks to get the right timing.
Example. You want to remove a complete sentence in an interview. You insert a dots in the lower audio yellow line and quickly fade out the audio before the transition starts to remove the first word of the unwanted sentence but leave a bit of video. Then dissolve or wipe to the next sentence to signify that you have deleted something rather than have a jump cut.
If you look at some of my finished timelines it looks like a castle with every scene alternating on tracks 1 & 2.
