Looking for some best practice regarding Content Administrator access

Hi. I am looking for some best practice or rule of thumb from SAP or from different companies how they address Portal Content Administrator access in Production environment. Basically, our company is implementing portal to work with SAP BW. We are on SP 9. Basically, I am trying to determine if we should have 1-2 Portal Content Administrator in Production with 24/7 access or we should limit them from NOT having this. Can you share with me some ideas of what is right? and what is not?
Should we have access in Production? Or Should we have this access but limited? By the way, our users are allow to Publish BI reports/queries into Production.

Look For Transport Best Practices

Hi,
I am looking for transport best practices, so please answer the following questions on how your place of business handles :
1. If an object is modified in development and you decide that you you do not wish to move the modifications forward - Do you;
    a. delete the transport and release the locks
    b. create a corrective transport and move the transport through production
    c. release the transport and never import it into the next system
    d. something different : (Please explain)
2. If a transport is imported into QA and then you decide never to move it to production, do you:
    a. delete the transport and release the locks
    b. create a corrective transport and move the transport through production

I was always taught never to delete a transport. The changes should be reversed in the same transport and moved forward or released and the corrective transport moved forward in the same import queue.
If the transport goes to QAS then it needs to move to production. A corrective transport should be imported into production in the same queue.
I am sure you can get 20 different answers on this, but this is my policy.

There's no 'best practice' as such, but there are a few that I think should be default:
Enabling CDR, On-Hook Pickup, CFwdAll Override... but really the settings are specific to the requirements of the deployment.

We are updating our 11.5.10.2 env to deploy the TImezone feature and i'm anticipating some issues for the customized code as i'm not sure the developers followed best practices about handling dates.
Is there any documents where i can find the best practices to follow for customized coding in order to be compliant with the EBS Timezone feature ?
Like for instance, Date APIs usage or the work to do to convert Date data for interfaces ?

Looking For Guidance: Best Practices for Source Control of Database Assets

Database Version: 11.2.0.3
OS: RHEL 6.2
Source Control: subversion
This is a general question aimed at database professionals, however, it is not specific to any oracle version, etc. Its a leadership question for other Oracle shops regarding source control.
The current trunk, in my client's source control, is the implementation of a previous employee who used ER Studio. After walking the batch scripts and subordinate files , it was determined that there would be no formal or elegant way to recreate the current version of the database from our source control - the engineers who have contributed to these assets are no longer employed or available for consulting. The batch scripts are stale, if you will.
To clean this up and to leverage best practices, I need some guidance on whether or not to baseline the current repository and how to move forward with additions of assets; tables, procs, pkgs, etc. I'm really interested in how larger oracle shops organize their repository - what directories do you use, how are they labeled...are they labeled with respect to version?
Assumptions:
1. repository (database assets only) needs to be baselined (?)
2. I have approval to change this database directory under the trunk to support best practices and get the client steered straight in terms of recovery and
Knowns:
1. the current application version in the database is 5.11.0 (that's my client's application version)
2. this is for one schema/user of a database (other schemas under the database belong to different trunks)

HiWe are using Data ONTAP 8.2.3p3 on our FAS8020 in 7-mode and we have 2 aggregates, a SATA and SAS aggregate. I want to decommission the SATA aggregate as I want to move that tray to another site. If I have a flexvol containing 3 qtrees CIFS shares can I use data motion (vol copy) to move the flex vol on the same controller but to a different aggregate without major downtime? I know this article is old and it says here that CIFS are not supported however I am reading mix message that on the version of data ONTAP we are now on does support CIFS and data motion however there will be a small downtime with the CIFS share terminating. Is this correct? Thanks

Q: looking for a best practices on a reorg issue

I am trying to figure out how to reorg our BW PSAPODSD and PSAPODSI tablespaces. They both have partitions which seems to complicate the issue a tad. What I am trying to do is move the data to new tablespaces (PSAPTESTD and PSAPTESTI, drop the old ODS tablespaces and datafiles, recreate them as LTMS, then move from TEST back to ODS.
I've looked at using the oracle exp/import tools. I've looked into brtools/brspace tools. I am not sure which way to go that (a) will get all the data, (b) get/recreate all the bazillion partitions, and (c) recreate/rebuild all the indexes and the partitoned indexes.
I've already done an exp then an imp (to create the SQL) but do I need to do more than just go into the SQL and change the target tablespaces?
Does anyone have any method/scripts they can share?

Thanks for the pointer but it seems to be asking the same questions I am. The only PDF that I could get was the one from quest. Yours from LuLu I kept getting DB errors on the LuLu site.
Also, 3rd party options are currently out of the question. I have done reorgs on R3 systems but since they don't have partitions and sub partitions and such there didn't seem to be as much to worry about.
I don't even want to mess with any BW R3 internal tables and that is why I would like to go from ODSD->Temp->ODSD. I can get the downtime to do it too.
Thanks for your help though the issue still sin't solved. And I'd like to see your book sometime.

I could not find any such document for SOA 11g. Please let me know if some one has document for best practice, coding standard, naming convention for BPEL,OSB,B2B etc.

Now we need to publish our services on the internet. I am looking for the security mechanism that I should apply in order to make the services secure. I may even like to verify that the request invoking service A is only coming from specified context.One approach we followed at a customer :
- SOA was installed within internal firewall zone
- A F5 BigIP Load Balancer was setup in DMZ. This load balancer terminated one way SSL connections coming from service consumers over internet. The load balancer forwaded the request to a pool of apache of web servers within DMZ
- The Apache web servers had a redirection rule which forwarded the request to the soa server ports within the internal firwall zone. The internal firewall was opened to allow connections between apache web servers and soa server ports.
- WS Security Username token/plain text password was used for message level security at the soa services layer.
Some alterations you can do :
1. enforce 2 way ssl and make load balancer to validate the CN of the client certificate. This can make sure only authorized clients are to make calls to the service
2. OR setup some sort of IP filtering at DMZ firewall i.e. allow traffic only from authorized clients IP addresses to the load balancers virtual address for this specific service.

Best practice document for ACE30

Can someone point me to a best practice document for the ACE30. I am specifically looking at best practices as they relate to resouce allocation, logging, FT, and snmp. I am migrating from CSM so the VIP/Server configuration is basically set. I am looking for areas that pertain to the ACE as a whole.

I'm afraid there isn't a best practices document as such, however, I would suggest you to have a look at the ACE section in doc-wiki (http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Application_Control_Engine_%28ACE%29_Troubleshooting_Guide).
This document can give you some useful insights on different topics, including (but not limited to) resource allocation.
