I am lost and I don't know what to do have a certificate available for SQL2014 (Data warehousing virtual machine Size A7).
My purpose is to connect to SQL server via Power Query and Engagement Studio with Encryption connection option ticked.

Cloud and virtual machine API - Which one is best way

We are having cloud services in our environment. In that we have web role and vm role. We want to collec the cloud, virtual machine and web role related information both config details and performance related information.

After Mozy's Time Capsule fiasco, looking for cloud alternative

I've kind of had it with Mozy as an adjunct to Time Capsule (e.g. the fire or burglary scenario). I'm a very new customer, a paying customer. It affected my Time Capsule adversely and Mozy has been zero help (details below for potential Mozy customers who want the grisly details). I'm wondering what other options there are out there to back up to a cloud somewhere and am looking for recommendations from someone who had good recovery experiences with postal-mailed recovered files from a service that will work alongside Time Capsule or maybe even integrate with it in some way.
If I might digress for an example... Not too long ago I had a hardware failure with a hard drive (that wasn't networked with the Time Capsule), a unit the Apple Store said was a goner and one that resisted a variety of recovery programs, and this great discount repair place I found (Sassinsky) let me send them a portable hard drive along with my iMac's heart. A week later, back came all my files in separate drive partitions on that portable just as my original hard drive had been partitioned, all the data in the right places. I love those guys at Sassinsky. This is what I want from the cloud, too.
As for Mozy, I've read some user posts of horror stories in how their recovered files came back, scrambled over multiple disks. But in fairness to Mozy, some of those posts are pretty old. So to refocus on my question, are there services out there that will coexist with Time Capsule and that will send you your hundreds of gigabytes of backed up data on a hard drive in a perfect match to your folder structure as it was on your original disk?
And the postscript for those curious about one Mozy experience, a bit off-topic for this forum, though...
First, let me say I am heartened to see some Mozy folks (Dave DeLong and Mark Suman) knowledgeable about the Time Capsule conflict and posting here, engaged and really trying to help users. Kudos, Mozy. But I'm disappointed with Mozy Support when I went through channels asking about my problems with Mozy corrupting my Time Capsule. As others have reported, I get the "Time Machine Error. The backup disk image could not be mounted." I had just started with two paid accounts with Mozy. Wow, what an introduction to a new service. I included links to other users' dialogues about the problem, including some discussions.apple.com chatter.
From Tech Support on Aug. 16 I got a swell response, "We’re sorry about the trouble some of you ran into with this latest version. We’re working quickly to get this issue resolved and expect to release the fix soon." Helpfully adding, "If you uninstall Mozy and reboot, you should be able to use Time Capsule as before. " Of course, this missed the point that in my request for assistance I started off by noting that I had already uninstalled Mozy. Did you notice I said this email came Aug. 16?
I referred my new Tech Support friend Mubarak to the Aug. 13 Mozy blog entry about new v.1.4.3 that provided a link to the "fix" that already had been released supposedly resolving the Mozy conflict with Time Capsule. You can't expect the tech support folks to keep up on their releases. To his credit, I did get a friendly acknowledgement to my rude missive, a promise two days ago to elevate my inquiry, with no further Mozy response. I understand that I'm asking them about an Apple equipment problem, but darn it, their software caused it. I'm just a little tiny user, two paid accounts, but I think maybe I was wise to go month-to-month and not fall for those discounts with the annual subscription.

Like Mozy, it has exceptions... "backs up everything on your computer except your operating system, applications, temporary files, or those over 4GB." Hmmm... I wonder if a few of my Final Cut Pro projects exceed 4GB? Like Mozy, it will will let you include physically attached external hard drive. Yay.
Because it requires Intel Macs, I'm thinking that I may keep Mozy for one of my laptops, but switch my main iMac network server to Blackblaze. I've been having problems with Mozy on the laptop, though -- it just stops backing up and doesn't alert me (log shows repeated "churn is not running" and "Could not load version info from server: Error NSUnknownErrorDomain 7." Not very user friendly info. I'll still hold out hope that Apple may do something with Time Machine that would make it easy for vendors to provide a Time Machine compatible service that would integrate seamlessly and adjust fees for all the applications and other memory hog files it would otherwise exclude. I really don't want to have to learn what Mozy churn is, not that my Time Capsule gives me much user-friendly log detail.

Looking for a labview virtual instrument program we can modify

Hi, I’m looking for a canned labview virtual instrument program we can modify for the OMB DAQ 55 from Omega to measure three temps and control three DO. I have the driver at:ftp://ftp.omega.com/public/DASGroup/products/OMB-DAQ5455&56/ The driver is labviewpdaq5xsetup.exe. I have the OMB DAQ 55 from http://www.omega.com/pptst/OMB-Daq55.html with a USB interface. I am trying to set it up to control a 24V electric valve. I’d like it to measure temperatures (5 separate temps), allow a set point to be programmed for three of them and turn on and off a DO based on the temperature. PID is not required yet. Maybe in the future… We have labview 7.1 and 8.0 but my colleague prefers 7.1 Do you have an labview VI programs that you can share that will do this with the DAQ 55? If you have something that will be close, we can modify it. But starting from scratch will likely mean we can not get this done in time for a project test. Simple set point and control is all I’m looking for… I’m new (my colleague knows it better than me, but has less time) to labview and do not have the resources to learn it from scratch to figure this out. Is there something you have I could modify? Can you help. Or are there canned programs you have that will do this? Labview is the preferred language. Thanks. These discussion forums are more geared for questions - not necessarily having everyone else code for you.
You have a few options if you want code.
1) Look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW. This will give you a starting point from which to ask questions.
2) Look at the Instrument Driver Network that exits on National Instrument's Web site. Here are all the Omega instrument drivers listed.
3) Look at the list of Alliance members who you can pay to develop your code for you. Look here.

I am just looking into the architecture for a new project.
Reading the specs from the website I suspect that a cluster of about 8 to 12 machines running about 6 database instances is what I'd need.
Anyone know of any papers detailing a HA cluster config of this size with the DBs on all or some of the nodes in the cluster.
Basically looking for a controlled load balance with the HA capabilities of RAC databases. I.e. if ones fails, the system keeps going.
The OS would probably be OEL and some of the features of O VM look interesting.
There is likely to be a need for a bunch (30) of Application servers as well.

What is account for logon for first Azure virtual machine?

I selected build a server farm, but I don't remembering any input for administrator account. How do I setup administrator account for my first Azure virtual machine after it was automagically built as part of a server farm option?

I am assuming you are talking about SharePoint server farm.
After you select New->SharePoint Server Farm, Azure asks you to type in the resource name and then it asks you for usernames and passwords for each virtual machines local administrator. These are the usernames which you use to access these machines.

Also, this depends on the protocol. And also the OS in the VM. So, just because you have the potential does not necessarily mean you have the ability.
Windows (barring a few applications such as backup agents) almost never uses 100% of its pipe. Due to the protocols themselves.
Linux can frequently be set to consume all of the available bandwidth.
Now, how are you measuring that you are sending traffic at a rate that is actually higher than the receive rate? Since the smaller pipe (greater constriction) always determines the rate of throughput regardless of the end it is on.

You can install multiple java instances in a single machine. But any java based application like OBIEE uses only one instance at a time.That is based on How you configured JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH enviornment variables or registry entries for this.

I've had the "competition" (yes a PC) for two years now.
SONY i5 Laptop V111 model series (more details if you need it) running WIndows 7 Professional Edition.
On the Main Desktop, Windows 7 Professional Edition is running the latest Safari as I prefer it as mostly have Macs but Work (College) runs in a PC mindset.
Now I have this XP Virtual Machine Desktop and have never been able to do much with it.
Finally found out why, it had no interconnection to the Internet, so now it has it through IE 8 (again sorry) but that successful installation today opened up the two year old question that I no longer have the store (Sony Style store closed here) to help me with answers.
Can I get a Safari for the XP Virtual Machine Desktop? It appears to be a 32-Bit version (despite the WIndows 7 Professional being the 64-bit version).
All I see is Safari for Mountain Lion. Maybe as I am not able to search properly from the PC, the Apple pages as I have on my Mac my home page is the Apple store and communities for questions/help. Where is the "older" Safari's hiding out?
Or maybe I don't need such an old version of Safari, as I can't find out which Safari works for my PC as whenever I go in it says my Mac version and I can't hide that since I'm using the Mac to access this Forum!
Please write if you are confused as I am and I'll find whatever information you need.

Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
end.
There should be no conflicts between them.

Failing to assemble Downloaded Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g

Hello,
I checked the download checksum of the files downloaded for Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g ( Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g ) and they all match checksums.
however, when I try to assemble them with 7zip, I get a corrupt error message. I have tried downloading with Chrome and Internet Explorer. I have also tried assembling the 7zip files different ways.
Is there anything else I should try?
Running on Windows 7, 64 bit machine. (with lots of disk space).
Is there any other way to get the files?

However, it defeats the speed with which can ramp up with the toolset; thus slowing my time I can allocate to learning it...

Solaris 10 virtual machine for VMware

I've tried the "Solaris 10 OS, AMD x64 Platform - Solaris Enterprise System Virtual Machine for VMware (Solaris 10 11/06) 3.0". I've d/l the virtual appliance for vmware one can find from there : http://developers.sun.com/solaris/downloads/solaris_apps/index.jsp#vmware
I encountered 2 problems :
The first was the network (netcard) wasn't recognised at all. It's strange because the settings should be the same for every vmware virtual machines. It may be because I'm running the latest version from vmware (10.0.2). The default option was NAT, and I tried the others as well. All other systems I'm using with vmware are working correctly, including the opensolaris "Nexenta".
The second one was with the screen resolution, it was excessively huge, around 2800 x 2000. I couldn't change it in the gnome desktop (the option had no effect). I managed to change it by altering the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. The same was for the keyboard settings, I couldn't switch to azerty (french) keyboard. I had to change it in xorg.conf file.

im new to vmware too, but just wan to share my experience with you.
5.5.1 vmware workstation with vmtool installed.
- my NIC still define as pcn0, encountered packet drop network issue
- dtlogin doesn't work properly with my screen resulation, mouse work fine without pressing ctrl+alt key to get out from vmware
6.0 vmware workstation with vmtool installed.
- no more packet drop issue, especially when i ssh from pc to vmware.
- gdm fit to screen, GUI work fine.
- my shared folder working now, mount as /hgfs.

Time synchronization for SharePoint virtual machine

As a best pratice, i read in a technet article : "Disable time synchronization for each SharePoint virtual machine".
Do i need to disable the Integration Service "Time Syncronization" in the virtual machine settings ?
Is it better to do a NTP sync on each serveur ? (Virtual and physical machine)

Hi Anthony,
yes, you should disable the Integration Services Time Sync per VM Settings, as this can lead to problems with the SharePoint timer service and yes, you can do an NTP Sync instead.
