Looking for color feedback on new site related to web storefronts

I'm new to the forums, and getting back into design. I have a new website that will provide reviews of different ecommerce/web storefront solutions and tutorials on setting them up. In addition to technical hurdles to make it easier to use Kuler, I'm looking for feedback on the color palette I'm considering.
I'm not sure if this forum is purely for technical trouble/help, or if it's intended to provide design help/feedback as well. The site is barely up and running, no content as of yet other than a few sentences and image so it's not blank and doesn't have the stock page. Considering the nature of the site, I'm thinking of using the following color palette since it's about web storefronts/e-commerce. Green seems to be the primary color since we're talking about money/commerce.
Any feedback on this color choice: Adobe Kuler ?
Thanks, and if there is a more relevant forum to post for design choices/feedback please let me know.

    Dunno. I poked around and found no original content. It looks

  • Installing New Color Looks for Color 1.5 - Invalid Location?

    Hi I downloaded the New Looks for Color 1.5 that Apple provided, which are basically new boxes for the Color FX tab in Apple Color 1.5.
    In the installation instructions, it says to copy the folders into this location:  /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Color/Effects/
    The problem is, this location doesn't seem to exist.  There isn't a folder called "Library" in the Users/username folder.  When apple sent out Lion, did they change the way this path is structured or something?
    I do find a "Library" folder in the root level of my boot drive.  And it does have a folder in it called "Application Support," but there isn't a "Color" folder in it.  Does anyone have any ideas where the real location is to install these files?
    Incidentally, I did try looking in the Color FX Bin tab inside the Color FX room in Color for information.  I tried searching in finder for any of the pre-existing Looks that are listed there, but they don't come up anywhere on my system...though they are there in the application.  Perhaps the real file name is something different than is listed there?
    Thanks!

    Click on the GO menu when in the FINDER.  Between VIEW and WINDOW.  Now, while clicking on that, press and hold the OPTION key.  You will see LIBRARY APPEAR.  Choose it.

  • What to look for when purchasing a new heatsink and fan?

    I bought a Phenom II 970 and its fantastic, but the stock cooling system seems to be very loud and really not get much done.  I dont like it at all, but before I spend more money on newegg or at my local computer parts store, what should I look for in a new cooler?
    I honestly do not even know where to start!  I know I have an AM3 socket, so as Im browsing the heat-sinks on Newegg I saw 6 socket types that all said AM3, Im so confused!
    I dont have a specific price range in mind, just know I am looking for a good value.  This is difficult when I have no idea what makes it good or less good.
    Sorry for a noobish question yall. Thank you for your time.

    Most, if not all the aftermarket coolers come with mounting brackets for most of the current boards.
    I have had good results with my Arctic Cooling products. Zalman air coolers are another excellent option, but your budget will determine which one to get.
    Do a search on the net and you will stumble upon numerous reviews of the differing coolers. FrostyTech is a good review site. http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2607
    Although I gave you a link to the freezer13 pro, on the site you can choose from the tested coolers from the dropdown list at the top of the site.
    There will always be a compromise between price, efficiency and noise. I don't know the model you linked, but whatever you consider, do some research first.

    That is the one thing I always check for. PWM controlled fans.

  • Looking for test demo of new 21/27 iMac in-house in Carmel, IN

    Hi all.
    I am looking for someone that might be willing to let my parents see and use their 21"/27" iMac at there house for a little while. They absolutely DETEST the new glossy screens, at least how they look when they are the store. But their house isn't a white box with dozen of light sources producing massive amounts of glare. So short of buying one and returning it, and all the hassle thereof, I thought there might be a kind soul out their willing to help.
    They desperately need a new computer (iMac G5 with possibily failing drive), and an iMac would be a perfect choice if it wasn't for the glossy screen. If they can't live with that, then it'll have to be a Mini + third-party monitor.
    They live in Carmel, IN. Please email me back if your willing so we could arrange a meet.
    -doug

    I see what you're saying. You want the computer at your house to see how it works in the environment. That's a pretty tall order. But you might do as Dave suggests and go to Keystone At The Crossing and talk with the people there. They may be able to hook you up with a loaner or something.
    My iMac sits facing west and there's window that's approx. 6'x12' behind me and 99% (okay I made that percentage up) I don't see any glare whatsoever. 100% it's not a bother (that one I didn't make up). I would assume as you did that the Apple Store is about as bad as it could get for a glossy screen. Bright, lots of white.

    Can you please post some links to sites that you think

    There aren't many. Part of the reason is Adobe has only released a

  • Looking for great examples of iweb sites

    I am in the process of rebuilding my site with iweb '09 and want to see what others have done using iweb '09. I want to see what is possible. Any ideas where I should look ? Thanks - Thomas

    that's a pretty good looking iWeb site.
    I also think something he mentions is good advice for someone who wants to make a iWeb site look as pro as possible, which is to avoid the templates. While the templates look good on the Mac, they seem to be a cause of grief for IE, which most people use to surf the net. Also, they're canned. It's better, I think, to start with a blank slate and build from there. Stylistically, I think there's a trend towards simple elegance in professional websites rather than ginned up designs that are no longer as popular as they used to be.
    Here is a site I made in iWeb that exemplifies the "simple elegance" that I think is becoming popular these days and also coincides with iWeb's ability to work better on more systems when the design elements are kept simple. Basically, the iWeb site I came up with is a search engine. I know that sounds boring but I'm thinking it may be handy for people looking for a particular website but don't know where to find it yet. There are also some additional features I've been adding into it, and advertising here and there to generate some income, but basically it's a search engine. I've finally gotten it off MobileMe and onto a 3rd party host so the URL is now www.google.com. Let me know what you think!

  • Looking for some advice regarding an image related program

    Hi fellas, Im looking for some guidance here. I want to write a program that will read an image (image will be an xray image of a square), convert the image to black and white, and measure the length and width of the square. Im looking for the best progamming langauge to make this happen. Anyone have any recommendations? I know c++ has a good imaging library that would be helpful so im looking into that at the moment. And Im pretty sure I can do this with matlab, but Im writing this program for a doctor so I need it to be portable. Thanks in advance for all the help
    Cliffnotes:
    Whats the best programming language to:
    -read an image (of a square)
    -convert image to black and white
    -measure length/width of square
    -GUI would be good but not necessary
    -easy to write

    HashBox wrote:You might want to look in to DPI and what The GIMP does in terms of that, also I found this which might be of use as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixels_per_inch
    Thanks HashBox, I think Im off to a good start on this. First, I wrote the program (majority of it) using matlab, and now Im trying to convert it to C++. So far I have:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include "CImg.h"
    using namespace cimg_library;
    //main program
    int main()
    CImg<double> img("xray.jpg");
    //converts the image to black and white
    img.RGBtoYCbCr().channel(0).resize(-100,-100,1,3).RGBtoLUT(CImg<>(2,1,1,3).fill(0.0f,255.0f),false);
    //displays image
    CImgDisplay display(img,"Black and White");
    while (!display.is_closed)
    display.wait();
    return 0;
    So right now, I have the black and white xray image. How do I find out the size of the image using c++? Is there a function for that or do I have to write code to find it manually?
    Heres the original matlab code I wrote that Im trying to write my c++ code after:
    %read the image
    [filename,pathname] = uigetfile('*.*', 'Select an image');
    %assign image to film
    film=imread(filename);
    %threshold the image
    level = graythresh(film);
    %convert image to black&white using the thresholded value
    BW = im2bw(film, level);
    %display image
    imshow(BW);
    SIZE=size(BW);
    counter=zeros(1, SIZE(1));
    for x=1:SIZE(1)
    for y=1:SIZE(2)
    if (BW(x,y)==1)
    counter(1,x)=counter(1,x)+1;
    end
    end
    end
    SUM=0;
    lines=0;
    for counterarray=1:SIZE(1)
    if counter(1,counterarray)>0
    lines=lines+1;
    SUM=counter(1,counterarray)+SUM;
    end
    end

  • Looking for honest feedback from you the experts

    Hi,
        I was hoping for some feedback of the below video. I have put together a couple very simple family birthday videos but this is my first attempt of a more professional video.
    This is a documentary of the Syracuse Youth Orchestra 2014/2015 season... a culmination of video and stills over nine weeks of rehearsals.
    I still have a little cleaning to do but I was hoping you could share your thoughts, suggestions, etc... I have been working on this so long I have kind of lost perspective.
    Thanks in advance - Steve

    I watched the entire video. Very well done and exceptional organization and effects are very good. Clear text.
    You do have some black video at the end that needs addressing. And, I would weigh
    the merits of static versus rolling credits at the end.
    I think it is essentially "a take".
    Best wishes

  • Looking for advice on a new Mac Pro system mainly for Final Cut Studio 2

    We are a small video production company that works mainly on broadcast and internet projects. We're looking to upgrade from an aging Avid system to a Mac Pro running Final Cut Studio 2. The primary thing we want from this system is to be able to work quickly in Final Cut while at the same time doing other operations, and we're willing to spend what it takes to make that happen. We've done a lot of research but still have some issues where we could use your expertise - it's a big investment and we want to nail it.
    Here's the configuration we're considering:
    Processor: Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
    Memory: 16GB (4 x 4GB)
    Hard Drives: 300GB 15,000-rpm SAS (for OS X, Final Cut, & other programs) plus 2 x 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s (for video storage)
    Graphics: NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600
    We're thinking about spending the extra $1600 to get the best processor available, since we want this machine to be the hub of the business for about five years. Any thoughts on whether to save a bit and go with the 2.8GHz? We've also heard the bus speed presents a bottleneck so the Quad-Core processing power can't be fully utilized - should that have any bearing on our processor decision?
    The memory choice seems right - we'll see how well that works and retain the option to double the RAM, particularly as prices fall and new applications or hardware upgrades become tenable. However, we're thinking of perhaps buying some or all of the memory third-party - any advice on whether this tends to be worthwhile, where to get it, and what to watch out for? It looks like there may some issues with getting proper heat-sinking.
    We like the hard drive plan, though we've heard a 15,000-rpm drive may generate a lot of heat - any thoughts on this?
    The graphics card is where we're most torn - specifically between the Quadro 5600, the GeForce 8800, or perhaps even getting the computer with the standard card (or no card) and getting a different third-party card. We do mostly DV now, but we foresee doing HD projects in the future. We often use a green-screen that's in our studio and also apply minimal 3D effects as well as 3D text. We're debating whether to get the Quadro 5600 right off the bat and hopefully have no issues with it, or whether to get the GeForce 8800 for now and if we have issues then consider upgrading to the Quadro 5600 or potentially something else that would best suit our needs at that time. Would love to receive any and all advice on this issue.
    Also, it looks like we're gonna buy Final Cut Studio 2 and are considering also getting Final Cut Server. It seems the combination would allows us to use the Final Cut suite on other computers (both Mac and Wintel) that don't have their own version of Final Cut installed. Is that the correct interpretation? Any other advice on whether to get FC Server would be appreciated.
    Thanks very much for reading - we look forward to getting any and all advice you may have.

    *Don't do it!* Stick with the dual-2.8GHz config. A jump from that to the dual-3.2GHz gains you only an approximate 9% increase in power at a 52% increase in cost! Not worth it all. That money is much wiser spent on RAM, RAID array, or a broadcast monitor.
    Memory: 16GB (4 x 4GB)

    The processor is only one part of the whole, and as I just mentioned, the power:cost benefits are not good.

    Quadro 5600 is pricey, but I'm not sure about its benefits for people in our field. Even if I had the money for it, I would be hard pressed to consider it considering, again, money is liekly wiser spent elsewhere.

    I don't know much about FCServer, but my impression is that it is -- simply speaking -- Final Cut version of Avid Unity. In other words, I am pretty certain that your understanding on that is false. I may be wrong.

  • Looking for a particular upcoming new game

    There is a new game coming in the near end of October called Zettai Hero Project: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman (Yes. That's the title.). But the game itself is not on the website yet for preorder.
    Here is the cover:

    Deathdeath.. Evilman?
    The unlosing ranger I can see as a translation bo-bo.
    But Darkdeath Evilman?!
    Is this the result of some game designers severe writer's block?
    I'm sure that the GAME is nice, tho

  • Looking for a beginners guide ot site survey

    Good evening,
    Getting ready to do a site survey of a rather large facility... About to switch to an entirely different wireless nic (intel 3945ABG) which isnt performing as well as its cousin, 2200BG. Reviewing the stats of the cards it doesnt make sense as intel claims (from my understanding) the 3945 is more sensitive.
    Given the sheer size (220,000+ sq feet) of my facility i want to ensure i do this correctly the first time around. I have the given equipment which will be deploying this card.
    What i have done in the past for resolving some issues is going every 5 feet and recording by hand the SNR using something along lines of netstumbler. Is this correct?
    any suggestions will be great.

    Mikhel, I tried the UK Skype To Go service for the first time this morning to call a Dutch mobile number. I was very impressed with the call quality - the clarity to me was indistinguishable from a non-VoIP call (well I know the initial connection into Skype wasn't VoIP, but I'm assuming the segment from Skype to the mobile number was??).
    There is one issue however that Skype may wish to address to avoid potential confusion for UK-based callers. The (American English) recorded prompt asks the caller to enter the 'pound key' after the number to be dialled. In British English, this would be taken to mean the '£' symbol (as in pound, our currency), not the '#' key as intended. The 'pound key' in US English is known as the 'hash key' over here.
