Im looking for a colorist who is skilled in coloring video using speedgrade. All projects will be paid. I hope this is not inappropriate to ask in this forum, I figured this would be the best place to ask.

Hi Azzie Scott,
I'm find with your asking for collaboration here. Mayby the forum-masters can set-up a 'lounge' or 'job' catagory so it does not mix up with support questions?
Where are you based? And how would you want to collaborate? I'll be happy to help out if the project and conditions are interesting. Please contact me off-list at info [at] animotion [dot] nl

  • Looking for intermediate skill level short course (1 - 2) days in Melbourne (Australia)

    Hi Everyone,
I am relatively new to writing SQL queries, and do not consider myself to be a natural.
Late last year I studied a Unit called 'Introduction to Database Design' at Deakin University. This unit reflected the broad ANSI standard SQL (during theoretical studies), and Oracle SQL Plus (during practical studies). I did quite well in the unit, and now
have a thorough understanding of the basic SQL concepts such as JOINs, UNIONs, etc.
This year I find myself working specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, and related T-SQL syntax within my occupation. More specifically the company that I work for uses SAP Business One, and the underlying infrastructure at my work is MS SQL Server
    2008 R2.
I would like to study some more SQL formally! My boss will probably back me in attending a one / two day course that deals specifically with T-SQL.
I am ideally looking to learn some 'intermediate' skills, such as CTEs, and Pivots. However performance of the SQL Server itself (such as Load Balancing, and Tuning) does not interest me.
     I live in the
Melbourne (Australia) and would like to find a suitable course in the CBD or surrounding suburbs.
If anybody can suggest any courses / course providers that are very good at teaching in my area can you please share. Finally my budget would probably be somewhere between $600 to $1000 for the course, but if the course comes with high recommendations I might
be able to budget a little higher.
Any help and or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    David

    Hi David,
According to your description, you are going to find some T-SQL courses near to Melbourne Australia, right?
Since we are not in Australia, it's hard to give you the exact courses about T-SQL in Melbourne. However, you can learn it online. Here are some useful links about CTE and Pviots, please refer to the links below.

  • Looking for a Trade Show app

Was at a trade show back in November 2010 and saw someone using the iPad to take down customer information and send their contact info, not having an iPad at the time i didn't think to ask what the app was called.
I'm looking for an app that will allow prospects to input their contact information and possible check a few boxes of products they would be interested in, once they hit submit it would then send me and email with their information and a thank you email for signing up with my contact information included in it sent to their email. Does anyone know of an app that would allow me to do this?
    Matt

I don't know of any existing Apps, but it sounds more like something a simple web-based HTML form would be more than suitable for. As long as the iPad has a net connection (which it would need to have to send an email) you just host the web-page on your companies web-site and view it in Safari on the iPad.
You can even make it look like a proper app by hiding the Safari toolbars and saving it as a web-app.
This is something someone with moderate web development skills could put together and customise it to look as you want and contain whatever checkboxes, form fields you want.
Here's Apple's information on creating web-pages optimised for iPad/iPhone Safari:
    http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/appleapplications/refer ence/safariwebcontent/OptimizingforSafarioniPhone/OptimizingforSafarioniPhone.ht ml
You could also use a pre-built library such as:

  • Looking for a partner

    To Whom It May Concern:
Thanks for reading my post. Maybe it's this down economy, or maybe I'm just tired of being tied to an hourly rate, but after several years of careful contemplation I've finally decided to branch out on my own.
If you're at all like me and share a strong interest in starting something of "your" own, we might just make a good match.
    Before responding, please be:
    1. Currently employed and not looking for work, or not employed but can survive for 12 months without an income.
    2. Interested in becoming an entrepreneur but still seeking the right idea.
    3. Have an architect level background in enterprise application development but aren't afraid to get your hands dirty. You also have a resume and credentials to prove it.
    4. Independent and not affiliated with any groups, organizations, or solicitors.

  • Looking for a Programmer to Create A YouTube "Embed" Plug In

    Hello everyone,
I am Looking for a Programmer to Create An Acrobat Pro "Embed" Plug In based on the free YouTube API.
The purpose of this is to be able to easily embed YouTube Video's within Acrobat documents so that It can stream the content into the PDF file.
Many have suggested to download the content and embed it, but doing so will violate the user agreement with YouTube plus it would increase the size of the PDF file consideribly.
If there are any Programmers out there that would be interested in taking this project on please let me know. I believe there is a real need for this tool which people would really like to have.
The programming goals for the project would be as follows:
    1. Take the Free YouTube API and create a plug in for Acrobat that would allow you to easily embed content into any PDF.
    2. The "Embed Plug-In" Would essentially allow you to just copy and past the embed codes from YouTube, Hulu, or any other web source that provides an "Embed Code" so that the content can easily be placed within the PDF.  This embeded content could be videos, audio, playlist systems, ads, etc.. "anything with embed codes."
    3. You would be able to select an area of the PDF for the placement, paste the code and then be able to resize the content window. i.e. for YouTube Files.
The Market for this is as follows:
    - Web Based Magazines, or Flash Magazines that were created with Indesign, Acrobat then Flash. They can easily then create interactive content, with ads and multimedia. Anyone cab be interactive publisher then, no need for Flash Programming Skills.
    - Educational Institutions that want to create lesson materials with Web Content.
    - Business's that wish to share media elements from the web within PDF presentations.
If you need examples of how this might be used please contact me to discuss it further.
    Thanks for your assistance.

Since I only found the plug in yesterday I've only played with it a little bit.
    First thoughts:
It works.  It's easy to set up.  I followed the instructions and I had a link working to our promotional video on youtube in only a couple of minutes.
    Things I found:
I am using layers extensively in my pdf and wanted the plug in window to show up on only one layer.  However as I mentioned before it doesn't do that so my workaround was to change the settings in the video to play in a floating window.  However the plugin window is still visible if you do this, so my workaround was to reduce it to essentially a dot on the page and hide it on something pale grey!  I created a button in InDesign and used that to fire the video.
    Security stuff:
Obviously the pop up windows are somewhat frustrating but I see no way to get around them without doing what Joel suggested in his other blogs, which given the amount of users receiving my pdf and their varying competence levels with computers is not really an option.  My workaround for that was to include a note explaining what to expect and do when they did show up.
    For the future:
See if Adobe would make this an option in InDesign and usable within it's layers section.  That would be awesome.  I haven't had a chance to check out the addin Joel mentioned that might help with this in Acrobat.  Have you?
Thanks for the other tips on embeding html etc - always good to find new ways get around problems.

  • Looking for a WebObjects Developer

Not a technical question, but I think this is relevant to the list. If not, please let me know.
I am undertaking a new project, and am looking for a WebObject/Wonder developer to work with. If you know me, you know I went through an unfortunate (and unwanted) life change related to divorce and I took a big hit to my business. But I'm through most of that now, and I am looking to put the pieces back together.
One of those pieces was the flagship software-as-a-service product of my company. In the cataclysm of divorce and business partner breakup, I lost my source code, server infrastructure, everything. So now I'm starting from scratch. Well, not entirely. I am re-designing my product, taking the lessons learned and improving. That's what life is all about, right?
I need a developer to work with, for the next few months (on the side if fully engaged already, or some other commitment), to help me take my product from this design phase to launch (at least release one -- I have no illusions about building a 100%-feature complete WO app, ever). The developer doesn't need to be local (as a matter of fact, I prefer a global sourcing), but he/she does need to be a WebObjects/Wonder person, and understand that this project has to be built from the ground up in a way that I can manage with limited staff going forward. In other words, simple design, automated build/deployments, Selenium tags integrated into the HTML, etc.
I have a design brief I can share, if someone is interested. From there, we can figure out the logistical and cost details. So, if you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to me.
    Thanks

  • Looking for a specific kind of app and can't find it

I'm looking for an app for my tour. I own a small lawncare/landscape bus and am looking for something when i get done with a job i can pull up the clients record and just click if they have paid or were billed. And when i get checks in the mail that i can just click the same thing, that they have paid. I would really like to be able to sync it up to my wife's tour also as she handles alot of the bookwork part. Any suggestions?

doesnt sound like an app I've seen or heard of but i'm sure a more advanced developer can make an application for a affordable price. that's a little out of my skill set

  • Looking for voice to text app as good as Droid......anyone know of one?

I'm looking for a voice to text app that is incorporated in actual text messaging similar to Droid that I can use on my 3GS. Anyone know of one?

To straighten things out: You mean you are looking for a messenger application ie SMS or MSN with voice to text capability?
AFAIK there is no messenger client to iOS that has incorporated voice to text capability. Yet. However, Nuance has now released their SDK to all iOS developer to incorporate Voice to text capability so it should be just a matter of time now before your favorite messenger app gets V2T.
Voice recognition is an even harder challenge not at least due to all kinda dialects and strange pronunciations and very few has the economic power and skills to create a good and working Voice to Text. Nuance (Dragon Dictate) is one of the few who knows about it.
The reason Dragon Dictate App on iOS "exports" the text to other third part app the ways it does is due to security reasons (every app is sandboxed).
Dragon Dictate v2 supports iOS4 and after "voicing" you just hit the key to which you want to send it to: SMS, e-Mail, Twitter, Facebook..

  • PC - Mac... looking for backup suggestions

I never thought I'd buy a Mac (based purely on cost alone), but the big changes in Windows 8 have really turned me off.  What I'm looking for is suggestions on how to migrate.
I'm looking at moving from a desktop PC with lots of storage space, to buying a Macbook Pro.  My current setup is as follows:
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (DDR3 1600)
    GPU: EVGA 550ti
Primary Drive: 100 GB SSD - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2
1 TB personal drive for media/personal files
    2TB HDD for automated backups
    2TB HDD for manual/secondary backups
Obviously I already have the drives and don't want to spend $300 on a MyBook, but I'll need an external enclosure that is compatible with the new MacBook Pro, and also easy connectivity.  Suggestions?

I agree with you in some part with regard to cost, but maybe not so much with my particular situation.  The Ultrabook I was looking at a few weeks ago was the Lenovo X1 Carbon for $1300 (base price), but since it comes with W8, I would still need to buy a W7 Pro disc for $200, putting the new price at $1500, the same starting price of the 13" MacBook Pro.
I'm also not fond of clinging to older software or OS's.  Microsoft has chosen their path and they're not going to do a complete turnaround with items such as "Metro" or the Start button. It seems like a good time to try something else.  If I don't end up liking the Mac OS, at least they hold their value better in the resale market...
As for enclosures, they are renowned for being poorly built and unreliable.  I was hoping someone here could recommend one first hand.  If the WD MyBook had even reasonable reviews I probably would have just gone that route.  As is, I'm open to any suggestions.

  • Looking for some advice.

Hi. Hope this is right forum. First post. A brief background. Years ago (2007-2008) I created a web portfolio for school. First it was in HTML (Dreamweaver) and then Flash. I hadn't really touched it in years and decided this past couple of months, after playing in the medium again, to get back into wed design, 3d, and digital content creation. That said, I went in and updated both the HTML and Flash versions with the knowledge I currently have, limited though it is. I now would like to go forward and build a completely new site and teach myself HTML, JavaScript, and WebGL along the way (possibly before hand). Hopefully I'll get working on the new site before the end of the year. In the mean time, I'm using my old site as a stop-gap measure. I've also taken books out from the library to begin journey into the above mentioned languages.
This all said, I'm looking for some advice on what direction I should go next...look into... Does my current objective seem reasonable? Also, could anyone give feedback on what I did wrong and what I've done right on my old site. I think, as far as what went wrong, the Flash page is just too large. No one wants to wait so long for it to load. I think I got carried away with it. Also, too many sound effects. That said, I think the HTML site was constructed in an "old-fashion" way. No one makes sites like that anymore. I basically set it up in Photoshop, sliced it, and assembled it in Dreamweaver. The end result is a bunch of tables in HTML? A friend suggested I look into a CMS (?) like WordPress?
    Here's my current site: http://www.personal.kent.edu/~mstingle/
Constructive feedback on what I did right and wrong would be great. And, where I should be looking next for rebuild of my portfolio.
    Cheers.

WebGL is still  experimental.  Most browsers don't fully support it yet.
    http://caniuse.com/webgl
The current trend is Responsive Web Design -- layouts that work in all devices (mobile, tablet and desktop).  This technology relies on CSS layouts (no tables) with media queries for different viewport widths.  Below is a crude example built with the FluidGrid Layouts feature in DW CS6 or CC:
http://alt-web.com/FluidGrid/Fluid2.html  -- resize your browser's viewport to see it in action.
Flash is dead on the web now because the world's most popular mobile & tablet devices don't support it.  Animations are mostly being built with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.  See Adobe Edge Animate.
If you're not a skilled coder and just want a basic static web site, Adobe Muse might be all you need.  http://www.adobe.com/products/muse.html   That said, Muse cannot support server-side programming so you can't use it for advanced features like CMSs, blogs, etc...
If you're a Creative Cloud member, you can use Behance & ProSite to build & share your portfolio online.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/behance-community.html
    http://prosite.com/
In terms of your own site, ask yourself how much content & which features it will need to support in the coming months/years.  If it's going to be a relatively small site (under 20 pages), a static HTML site is probably all you need.  IMO, WordPress -- a dynamic CMS built with PHP & MySql databases -- would be overkill.  However, if you plan to make your site into a  blog for example, then a dynamic CMS is an option to consider.  WordPress isn't the only kid on the block either.  There's also Drupal, Joomla!, and many more...
