Looking for Discoverer Admin 3.1.36 or later

Trying to install Oracle Discoverer 3i. At
one point it says I need Discoverer Admin Edition version 3.1.36 or later and EUL version 3.1.77. The one available at technet is 3.1.25
Where can I get these latest version ? Thanks a lot

Release 3.1.36 of the Administration Edition will be available for download in a few days. This version will replace 3.1.25.

There isn't a Discoverer Administrator/Desktop version 5.1. It was renamed Discoverer Adminstrator/Desktop Edition v9 and is part of the Developer Suite. You can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/discoverer/index.html

I'm doing some research right now on ad hoc reporting with Discoverer. We're particularly intererested in the publishing side of things, plus it's other features and capabilities. Anyone have a GREAT resource they can point me to? Thanks.

Oracle technet - XML Publisher.
Okay, just pointing out that if it's the PUBLISHING side of things - you might want to look into XML Publisher (or BI, depending on where you're looking).
Discoverer is great, powerful, we're-not-worthy, etc., but it's limited for publishing. Supposedly in the 4th. Q of this year there's supposed to be a new version that interfaces with XML Publisher which could help the situation greatly, but again, take a looksie.
Otherwise the 3 links already posted are good ones for your investigations.

Training Courses for discoverer Admin

Hi,
I was looking at Oracle Uni Ireland and there are two course for creating an EUL. One is Oracle Discoverer Administrator 10g: Develop an EUL (Development Tools)
This class is applicable to Oracle 9iAS Discoverer users. and the other is OracleBI Discoverer Administrator 10g: Develop an EUL (Development Tools)
Is there a difference between these courses? I was previously told by a sales person at oracle there was not but today when I called them they said there is a difference. There is a CD rom available for the first course. Has anyone used the CD Rom and found it useful?

Actually the Discoverer Administrator tool has changed so little over the past 5 years or so that you could take a Discoverer 4 EUL class and apply everything that you have learned to 10g. Personally I'd go for the one entitled OracleBI Discoverer Administrator. That's the latest version. You can tell because the letters BI are now part of the product.
I've never used the CD ROM so can't comment - sorry.

I've already found the hard drive I want to use, but I don't know as much about RAM, and I'm not sure which 16GB (2 x 8GB) kit would be both compatible and give me the best bang for my buck. Old Topic, looking for newer answers....iMac (Late 08 model) shuts off

Hi all, I've posted this topic before but became really busy and was unable to troubleshoot this problem to the fullest. Long and short is that my iMac decides to shut off on it's own. I've ran the hardware test months ago with the code saying that the temperature control was messed up. I've since taken my iMac to an Apple service center where they have changed the display and the power source and I'm still having problems. I've surpassed the Apple warranty and was dumb enough to not get the AppleCare for this system.
A little more details, temperatures of core components (the ones that iStat Pro would show) seem to be normal. Nothing is over 120 F yet my CPU fan is spinning at nearly 4k rpm. For whatever reason, when this fan kicks in, the computer likes to shut off, even if temps aren't that high. Has anyone else experienced this? I know I'm going to either have get a new computer or face the bill for repair, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly, I've tried running the Hardware test before posting this and the dang test won't launch. I'm losing too much hair people, please help!

CAN'T GET DISCOVERER ADMIN FROM DOWNLOADS

I completed downloading all the files for Discoverer Admin. I'm able to run file10 without any errors. But when I try to run the 90201iDS_Win32.exe file, I get an error saying that it is not a valid Win32 application. Please advise.

HT4889 Source computer getting stuck on "looking for other computers", but target computer finds source computer.

I'm hoping someone can help me get my source computer to find my target computer when running Migration Assistant. The source computer (late '08 macbook pro running OS X 10.7.5) gets stuck on "looking for other computers". But target computer (late '09 imac running OS X 10.7.5) finds source computer. Both show they are connected to same wifi network in System Preferences-network. Note: I have tried with both internet sharing on and off. Note: Source computer also can't find its external hard drive when plugged in. Related? Any ideas for either issue?

In my old Mac (Pro) I have several hard drives installed. I was able to create a Time Machine back-up to a non-system HD. I plan on removing this volume and putting it in an external enclosure as soon as I can find the right cables for that enclosure. Meanwhile....
I saw on one support doc an instruction to open Sharing on the source Mac (my old one, in this case) and make sure the machine had a name specified. I already had done that, but noticed that a specific name based on that was mentioned for other computers to contact it. For example, if my source machine is named "myOldMac", other computers could address is at "myOldMac.local".
I connected the two computers directly via an Ethernet cable and I ran Migration Assistant again. When I got to the "Looking for source" screen, I clicked the button for "Other Server" and entered "afp://myOldMac.local". This actually found my old Mac. I was prompted to enter the password for the account "root". I changed the name to my account's short name -- "raboyle" not "Robert Boyle" -- and entered the correct password and I actually got a list of volumes to access. In the list were: the hard drives (by volume name), the home folders of the user accounts, and the Public Folders for each user account.
I tried accessing both my boot volume and the home folder for my primary account, and proceeded to a screen with the following text: "Choose which backup to transfer information from:". The list provided, however, was empty. On the chance that it was looking specifically for a Time Machine backup, I then specifically chose the HD volume with the backup I had just created. Again, the list to choose where to grab my data from was empty.
So, at least I'm advancing a little bit beyond the "Looking for source" screen ... but then again, since I hit yet another roadblock I can't say whether I've taken one step forward or two steps back.

Thought had crossed my mind too. I do some SMB consulting right now, been looking for full-time position though. A network tech position came up at a relatives work, but from what I know the admin there is a bit of a jerk, and almost everyone that knows him seems to think that. Some even have said if you run across a person that acts like may be friends with him look out because their probly not someone you want to deal with either.
I don't think he does anything illegal or the like, but knowing a little about him he is arrogant, and I've been told when he messes up it's always someone else's fault. That last part bothers me as if he messes up he may try and fire me and how am I supposed to defend from that in future when I have to say oh I was fired from ...

Firefox installer is looking for admin privilages to install, upon granting them, the installer immediately ends its process.

After downloading the Firefox 7.0.1 installer, running the .exe, it extracts the installer, then provides a small windows login box, looking for Admin permission. Upon logging in to provide permission, the process abruptly ends.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.

I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

Task Privileges for Existing Users - Looking for a global update solution

After some reading I understand that if you set the task privileges for the PUBLIC user in the Privileges section of Discoverer Administrator (10g), any new user created in the system will pick up the privileges you have assigned to the PUBLIC user.
I currently have 4000+ users who have access to Discoverer Plus and the ability to create/edit queries. I want to limit who can access Discoverer Plus functionality to approximately 150 users.
I have changed my PUBLIC user to NOT have privileges but this will only affect new users. Is there any way to restrict 4000+ users without having to go through each user individually and set the privileges.
I am looking for a global update solution. I am wondering if this can be done through the back-end.

If you change the rights for the public user then other users, who have not been manually adjusted in any way, will automatically pick up the public rights. Therefore, if you have a lot of users that are not changing this means that at some point in their life you will have clicked OK or Apply on the screen with a user displayed. This now assigns the rights to that user as opposed to inheriting them from the public user.
What you are describing is the perfect reason why you should not administer Discoverer using user accounts but to use roles or responsibilities instead.
In your case you are now somewhat stuck. The programatic way to revoke these rights is to drop rows from the EUL5_ACCESS_PRIVS table but this could take longer than doing inside Discoverer. Basically, when a user has been granted privileges one row per privilege is inserted into this table. The column AP_EU_ID contains the ID of the user. The column GP_APP_ID is the one that tells you what privilege a user has. Here is a list of the privileges:

Theoretically you could manually delete rows from this table and that will revoke the rights. In reality, Oracle do not like it when inexperienced users manually the EUL as you could corrupt it. Therefore, any manual updates must be done with utmost caution after making sure you back up or have a copy of the table you will be updating - just in case.

I have Windows Server 2012 (and Server 2008, but it is next priority) to monitor it using txwinrm. txwinrm library internally is using WinRS protocol. I have to monitor it using least privileged user, but don't know how to configure access for him.
All I managed to do - is to configure remote Powershell session for my user, but it's look like that winrs and powershell sessions have different security descriptors:
Invoke-Command -ComputerName 192.168.173.206 -Credential (credential Administrator $pwd) -ScriptBlock { 2 + 2}
# gives 4
Invoke-Command -ComputerName 192.168.173.206 -Credential (credential lpu1 $pwd) -ScriptBlock { 2 + 2}
# gives 4
winrs -r:192.168.173.206 -u:Administrator -p:$pwd 'powershell -command "2+2"'
# gives 4
winrs -r:192.168.173.206 -u:lpu1 -p:$pwd 'powershell -command "2+2"'
# Gives Winrs error: Access is denied.
Configuration for my user is following:

(In each security descriptor my user is given general access to protected object).
So what security descriptor should I set to make my winrs query work for non-admin user?

I can not recreate the erroe you posted, and please also post the screenshoot in your convenience.
I tested with a non-domain user but has the local admin permission of the remote computer, and this worked, before running the remote cmdlet in powershell, I also configured the TrustedHosts.
In addition, the access denied could be also caused to the Protocol Filtering on the remote server, for more detailed information, please refer to this thread:
winrs error:access is denied
