Looking for electronic diagram of the power unit in a TAM
Hi,
My TAM is currently being repaired but the problem is that the technician needs the electronic circuit diagram for the power unit in order to know what the part type he needs to replace.
Does anyone know where can I get this diagram?
Thanks,
Tal
I don't think you'll be able to find such a detailed spec sheet for the power supply, because faulty ones were generally replaced as a unit and not bench-repaired. Does the repair tech primarily work on PCs and have little experience with older Macs? Quite often, non-Mac techs jump to the conclusion that the power supply is bad, when the unit fails to power ON. What problems is your TAM having? In many cases, the internal (non-recharging) battery that preserves the settings stored in PRAM is at fault. Was the unit unplugged from electricity for a long time? If so, the battery lost its charge and probably needs replacing. The TAM uses a 4.5-volt alkaline (Rayovac 870, 871, or equivalent) battery, that's a black plastic cube with two wire leads and is secured to the motherboard with velcro. Additionally, the TAM motherboard plugs into a long main connector slot that can become oxidized over time. The connection between the motherboard's gold-plated pins and the slot can become compromised, and it doesn't take a lot of oxidization to affect it. Removing the motherboard and cleaning the upper and lower sides of those pins along the edge with a soft whiter eraser can solve a number of problems.

Mac Pro overheating; can I replace the power unit fan?
After much strange behavior with my MacPro2,1 model I installed Hardware Monitor and discovered that the temperature readings for some of my Memory Modules and for the sensors on the Power Supply location 1 and Power Supply location 2 are very high. With no load the temperature is reading about 62° C on the "Power Supply Location 1" sensor and 85-90° on "Power Supply Location 2" sensor. I installed smcFanControl and found that I could cool the Memory Modules but even with all fans set on maximum speed the Power Supply temperatures droped only slightly to about 78- 80° C. All of the fans increased their RPM except for the "Power Supply Fan" which remains at 599 RPM no matter how high you set the Power Supply fan on smcFanControl.
All this leads me to suspect that the Power Supply Fan is either not running at all or is not able to accelerate in response to high temperatures in the power supply area.
My questions are these:
1. Can I visually confirm that the power unit fan is not working? That is, what do I need to do to actually visualize this fan in question and see if it is running? Is there another way to confirm that the fan is bad aside from just inferrring this from the high temperatures and findings in smcFanControl?
2. Is fan replacement a job that I could reasonably expect to perform myself or do I need to take it to an Apple repair shop? I have replaced hard drives and RAM in Powerbooks and a Mac Mini, installed PCI cards, etc.
3. Are there diagrams and/or instructions for doing this sort of thing?
Thanks.

If you only have one DVD drive, you can shine a bright light straight back through the lower drive area where you'll see a screen with fan blades behind it at the rear end of the SuperDrive cage. That's the power supply fan at the front of the power supply. You should be able to see it spin when you power up. I found that smcFanControl couldn't control the PS fan on my Mac Pro 1,1 either (it does work on the 5,1's PS fan). If you remove the SuperDrive carrier, you can get directly at the PS fan for more effective dust removal.
Diagrams and instructions for how to do that and much more can be found here http://tim.id.au/laptops/apple/macpro/ which is a source of Service Manuals. X423424X gets the credit for posting that link; I just bookmarked it. -

I am trying to set up Home Sharing between my computer and my wife's. Sharing keeps disappearing from the side bar although Home Sharing is turned on for both computers. Any ideas how I can sort this out?

Hi
I am looking for a solution to the consumption
of the VM systems in Azure Portal that reports and notified me by mail.
Please suggest.
Thanks, KkHi Kk,
what notifications are you expecting? like Machine down etc.?
you can make use of monitoring alerts and notifications in Azure, this will allow you to configure different
metric related to your virtual machines and other azure service you use.
Specifically for VMs you can configure different metric for the VM host OS and you can also configure web end point status metric (will monitor situation like machine down or offline)
here are two good reads

Looking for a form in the VIS demo database with lots of data
Hi all,
I am looking for a form in the VIS demo database (that ships with Oracle Applications) that contains a lot (1 MB or more) of data. Specifically, when I perform some type of search in the form, I would like more than 1 MB of data to be transferred over the network to the client.
With Oracle Applications 11i, I was using this form: CRM Resource Manager, Vision Enterprises → Resources
This was nice because searching for all resources resulted in 4.6 MB of data being sent by the server. However, in Oracle Applications R12, the same query in the same form only sends about 100 KB of data. :-(
Does anyone know any other forms that have lots of data in them?
- KyleThanks for that - I found the form. However, it appears the database table is empty - when I perform a search for all jobs, no records are returned.Nevermind, after some trial and error I found a site that had lots of jobs defined. Thanks for the pointer!
I'm still running into the same problem I was seeing with the previous form I was using. This is what I'm doing:
1. Open the form.
2. Search for all records.
3. Jump to the very last record.
In Oracle Applications 11i, this would cause a large amount of data to be transferred over the network (4.6 MB for the previous form I was using and 2.6 MB for this new "Discrete Jobs" form I'm trying). However, the behavior is different in Oracle Applications R12. When I perform the same steps in the same forms, only a fraction of the data is transferred over the network (~100 KB).
Ideally, I would like a set of steps (and a form) that will produce the same results in both 11i and R12. More realistically, I just need a form (or a new test procedure) in R12 that will spit out more than 1 MB of data. -

Looking for newer Mobo, like the MS-7345 Platinum P-35.
Hello,
I'm thinking about upgrading my P-35 MS-7345. I really like the MSI brand. I'm going on 5 years, but because of possible GPU issues (like screen ghosting, Non-responding, and timer continues to spin, even when I make a very simple video action, like adding a transition, everything freezes and hangs, to the point of rebooting.
Some people have asked if i updraded Win7 drivers for the MSI boardw hich i'm sure i did. Some asked me to check the board for bad or damaged caps, so I checked both the GPU, and Mobo, but could not see anything. Then someone told me it could be the Power supply...really?
In looking at Video cards, Like the PNY Quadro 600 ($150.00) requires a PCi-E 2.0x16, which I have now, but the higher end cards like the PNY Quadro 2000, ($400.00) and others, reqiuire a PCI-E 3.0x16.
WISHY WASHY~ Don't know if i should wait to get a new mobo, before I buy a new card, becuz it's going to be a while. I don't want to buy the Q600 DDR3 now, to be obsolete and a non-performer compared to the Q2000 DDR5, which would be more faster, then I wonder, i7, more DDR3 memory, and a new Mobo, then use a slower DDR3? Ummmmmm.
To be honest, I like MSI, I bought my new MSI Platinum five years ago, and love it! I'd like to keep it if i could, but technology supercedes practicallity, with the newer atx case with front USB 3.0 (mine is only 2.0....if it's backward compatible, then fine.) I'd like to ahead of the game, but not if i'm going to go BROKE!
With my old build, with the mobo, Intel Quad Q6600,700W Toughpower PSU, memory, hard drives, That set me back about $1200.00.
So..... for someone like me who is not a gamer, does not overclock, wants a minimum of 32GB DDR3, 700W PSU, three SATAII hard drives, does anyone have some Mainboard choices of newer LGA 1155 or 2011 that would either of these work?
This time, I'll need the i7 (or i5) new mobo, new DDR3 memory...up to minimum 16GB, maybe 32GB, and that's that. I'll use what I can,. or give or sell this tower and everything inside to my sister.
I was only looking at these two for specs:
Z77A-G43 DDR3 1600 LGA 1155 ($ 97.00) OR
X79A-GD65 (8D) ATX DDR3 2400 ($ 291.00)
I know the MS-7345 Platinum is off the production, but is there a board out there that's similar to the MS-7345 P-35? {it's just easy to set up.}
