Looking for experience with Wireless Printserver

Hello all!
I would like to connect my HP PSC 2171 to my iMAC (10.4.7) and my 2 WinXP LapTops via a wireless printserver.
As I fear heavy problems and unreliable print service, I would like to ask the expierenced users for their opinion and recommendations.
Do have any tips on the hardware? Can I rely on the printservice just as the printer would be connected locally?
Thx for your info!
iMac g5 20 2GB   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Using a print server requires using the CUPS comm protocols included in OS X. This brings with it driver problems:
Network printing/Windows printing only works with a driver that was meant for network printing. To use the OS X built-in CUPS network choices, you need a CUPS driver. For postscript printers, it's not an issue, because postscript is the native output of OS X, and can easily be routed to the various choices in Printer Setup.
Non-postscript printers are Very Different. Except for Brother, no manufacturer has provided CUPS drivers. Instead, what you get is Carbonized, OS9 legacy drivers, that have the comm protocol written into the driver (mostly USB). They can only print via local connection.
**Exception - when printing via an Airport/Bonjour enabled print server, where the software does a port redirection, USB output from the Mac gets routed to the USB port on Airport Express/Extreme.
I'm pretty sure the PSC2171 is supported by the 2170 driver in the hpijs/ESP ghostscript set:

Just looking for experiences with Fortinet SSL gateway and managing clients with SCCM with it.  I'm planning on building a lab area and selling management the idea of using Windows Defender and managing the 700 remote clients we have with our SCCM 2k7

So if anyone has any experiences it would be handy.  Or white papers would be awesome.

  • SpaceX is looking for engineers with LabVIEW experience in Hawthorne CA (LA area)

SpaceX is looking for engineers with LabVIEW programming experience for our Launch group. Our responsibilities include:
Controlling launch pad equipment via PXI/LabVIEW
Commanding and monitoring our Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 rockets via a LabVIEW-based Vehicle control system
Commanding and monitoring our Dragon capsules via a LabVIEW-based Mission Operation system
Ocean recovery of Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 stages after liftoff and Dragon capsules after splashdown
Cargo configuration of Dragon capsules going to resupply the International Space Station
Maintenance of Mission Control Centers with the help of our IT department
With the exception of the launch pad equipment program, most of our LabVIEW programs do not interact with DAQ hardware (unusual, I know). The Vehicle control and Mission Operations software get their data via Ethernet from 'black boxes' that connect to NASA & Commercial RF ground stations. We also create several utility programs in LabVIEW that also don't interact with hardware. So, this is mostly a software gig, not a hardware/software gig.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualities:
    CLD-level LabVIEW experience
A good understanding of basic computer networking (TCP/IP, UPD, firewalls, VPN)
Must be enthusiastic about space (What year did we land on the moon? How many men walked on the moon? How many Space Shuttles do we currently have? etc.)
Must be willing to travel. Common destinations include Houston (NASA Johnson Space Center), McGregor TX (test site), Cape Canaveral FL (launch site), Kwajalein Marshall Islands (launch site)
Must be able to work without supervision. We have a very flat management structure, no one will be telling you what you need to do. If you don’t know, ask. If you do know, get it done.
    About the job:
Job is located in Hawthorne, CA in the Los Angeles area.
This is not a 9-5 job. There will be some late nights.
You won't be LabVIEW only. Everyone chips in as needed. Our group has done Javascript, C++, MATLAB, configuring of TELEX comm systems, cutting of metal with bandsaws, welding, Unigraphics CAD, etc. If we need it and you don't know it, grab a book and learn.
We are only hiring full time employees. Contractors need not apply.
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, SpaceX hires only U.S. citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents.
Apply at SpaceX.com. Click the Careers button and fill out the general application. Mention this posting in the cover letter field. Don’t reply to this forum. You need to go to SpaceX.com to get your information into our system.

There is a job posting up now at SpaceX.com. Go to the careers tab and search for LabVIEW.
Look for the position called: Mission Control Software Engineers (LabVIEW).

    Hi,
From your description, you want to achieve the following goal:
Configure Exchange to filter the attachments if the size is over 10 MB and store it in a public folder, and then forward the email to Salesforce.
Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid that it can't be achieved. Exchange can filter messages with attachments, but it couldn't store these attachments on public folder automatically. Also, I don't see any transport rule can do it.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

  • Class not registered. Looking for object with CLSID:

    Hi,
I had create a custom project system with the help of https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/cc512961.aspx. And which is working fine that I can create a project with extension of .myproj in the VS Experimental Instance window. But when I go for
the properties in the created project, (Solution Explorer: Right click on the project folder and select properties) it will show an exception that "Class not registered. Looking for object with CLSID:{00000-00-00-000000}" How can I provide Properties
window for this project system or can I modify the Properties window for any other default VS project system? Please help me.

    Hi mathikp,
I don't think you did something wrong while creating the project, but instead it could be the issue of environment, I would suggest you to validate following things:
1, Try to create another blank app to see if the exception still thrown.
2, Run with an administrator privilege to check if you can get the project work..
I would not consider its as a coding issue but try to fix Visual Studio probably helps.

  • Looking for hardware (PCI Wireless LAN)

I'm looking for a PCI Wireless LAN card that will work well with Linux, does anyone know of any place that documents this sort of thing? (as in a list)

Euphoric Nightmare wrote:Okay, just figured out i can't use pci, because there are no slots available...fucking dells...i'll have to look at some other options
I think it's other option, singular - as in USB? I recently had to switch wifi to USB myself, when my laptop's card slots died. After a bit of research, I went for the prism2 chipset with the wlan-ng driver - specifically, the Netgear MA111. It's all working fine now, but in retrospect, I'd probably go for something that works better with wireless_tools.
AFAICS, there aren't any stable drivers for 802.11g over USB - madwifi may or may not do it, depending on Atheros, prism54 is trying, and they have pre-alpha stuff available for the brave/foolish, and there's also the zd1211 project on sourceforge.

Looking for help with respect to configuring MS Exchange server to handle attachments over 10 MB for forwarding to Salesforce (Email-to-case).
Problem - SFDC does not create cases from emails that have more than 10 MB of attachments. Our clients will not go-live if their clients cannot send in emails with attachments over 10 MBs
Potential resolution - Configure MS exchange to strip off the attachments(if over 10 MB) and store it in a public folder, forward the email to Salesforce (so the case gets created or the email
is associated to an existing case), the client should have some way to know if the attachments were stripped off and should be able to dlownload the attachments and continue with case resolution.
    Any help is appreicated!

What country are you in ? Depending upon what country that you are in then you might be able to redownload them on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the iTunes store homepage
If you're not in a country where TV programmes can be redownloaded then connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and use the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from your iPad

I'm looking for software with similar functionality to Photoshop's Pixelbender / Oil Painting.
I'm especially interested in the bending of the pixels, along the lines of impressionist paintings - think van Gogh.
    Any suggestions?

If you are interested in computer simulated drawing and painting effects, have a look at the "ToonIt!" plug-in for Aperture. This will do some of the basic work for you, but you will have to do quite a lot of editing afterwards, to turn the image into a piece of art.
It might be easier, to do most of the drwing and painting yourself in the first place - ArtRage Deluxe is very versatile, if you have a large trackpad and pen.
For example: Applying a light ToonIt! effect "Impressionist2": The diagonal
cross-pattern is due to "Demo" mode - I have not yet bought the plug-in - it is rather expensive:

  • Paging File Recommendations - Looking for Experiences / Opinions

    Oracle EE 10.2.0.1
    OS: Win 2003 Server x64
    RAM: 32GB
    Proc: 16x 3.5ghz
I currently have our system set to use a 18GB page (Across multiple hard drives).  The server has 33GB of RAM in it so I'm wondering how much of a benefit I could gain by uping the page file.
I've read recommendations from Oracle that the paging file needs to be the same size as the amount of system RAM and I've read that paging for windows needs to be 1.5x the amount of RAM.
Things are running fine at the moment but I'm always looking to improve the system. Just curious about others experiences with the OS page file and how they've set it because sometimes more is not better .
Thank you for your time and Opinions if posted.

You appear to have developed a case of Compulsive Tuning Disorder.  Your time would be better spent looking for real, measurable bottlenecks, not changing something just because it doesnt' exactly match some piece of advice that is itself just a 'general rule'.  Go get a cup of coffee.  Stop by the secretary's desk and flirt.  Re-read the Concepts manual.

BTW, it would be really helpful if you would go to your profile and give yourself a recognizable name.  It doesn't have to be your real name, just something that looks like a real name.  Who says my name is really Ed Stevens?  But at least when people see that on a message they have a recognizable identity.  Unlike the system generated name of 'ed0f625b-6857-4956-9b66-da280b7cf3a2', which is no better than posting as "Anonymous".

  • DIY'er looking for guidance with 1st major Stereo Install

Ok. So i've just bought this 05 GMC Envoy XUV. It's got the Bose stero with touch screen DVD based navigation. It sucks. Bad. There is no current Navigation DVD. It's a single disc system, so even if i had a new NAV CD I would have to remove it to listen to a CD. It just sucks. So I want to replace it. I'm looking to go with a double din touchscreen unit. I want one that has bluetooth, USB, Aux, CD/MP3 and is XM ready. Something that will work with my Iphone or my wife's Android. Something that is compatible with the Bose system, keeps my Onstar and my steering wheel controls and that won't interfere with the chime and warning systes. My local installer wants almost $800 bucks to put int a $300 unit. Seems a little steep. So, I want to do it myself. I'm a very capable mechanic and electirician but i've not had alot of experience with stero systems. So what i'm looking for is advice on what type of equipment i should be looking at. Maybe brand or model suggestions. Even a handy dandy how to guide would be nice. So. Any experts out there willing to let me bend their ear?

    dash kit: 99-2003 $12.99
    harness: GMOS-04 $99.99
    antenna adapter: 40-gm10 $10.99
    Steering wheel control: ASWC $53.99
    TOTAL: $180.96
    INDASH DVD LABOR: $99.99
    STEERING WHEEL CONTROL LABOR: $59.99
    TOTAL W/INSTALLATION: $340.94
add in your 300 dollar radio and you are at $640.94 before tax, saving your $160 compared to your local installer.
those are the parts that you are looking at to complete that installation without losing any of your safety chimes for your vehicle.  unfortunately since we offer the service here in our stores no-one will be able to give you any information on how to do the installation, or tips/tricks. iour workmanship is covered for the lifetime of the vehicle along with a timely installation taking around 2 hours, and peace of mind knowing that if anything were to go wrong than any best buy in the NATION will be able to assist you.   Hope this helps you out,  if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to let me know! thanks for the question and welcome to the community!

  • Asking for experiences with routers having a shelf life

    Hello!
I have Airport Extreme and in the last month have had problems with losing my internet connection. Last month, called my ISP who did not want to get into things too deeply and suggested I take my router to their local store. I did, they reset things and everything went along fine until yesterday when I again lost my internet connection. This time I called Apple and they were able to take me only so far until I was able to call my ISP, determine if they had issues, and get their IP addresses, etc.. It has all worked out okay but the people at my ISP told me routers have a shelf life. Mine is five years + old. Looking for similar experiences - or just some advice.

This post title caught my attention, because I have experienced issues with the AirPort Express. I used one at home for less than two years, and ultimately had to replace it. I would lose connection and have to restart the unit, and this became increasingly frequent. Eventually the problem became so bad I discarded it and bought a new one. I've had one at my office for more than a year, and several computers use it to access our network. For the past two months we've had to restart the unit several times because access is simply lost. Now the new one I bought for home is starting to go out occasionally. I'm wondering, am I using the units too heavily, and should I be using the AirPort Extreme instead? Are other users having issues with Express failure after many months of use? Thank you.
