  • Quick Look for files without extensions.

    I have many files without extensions that quick look does not recognize as text files. Bash shell scripts generally do not use an extension, for example (they are identified by their first line). Similarly I have a lot of text file notes w/o a ".txt" extensions.
    Is there any way to have quick look recognize these as text files? They currently have either text edit or textmate as their default "open with" app. I presume there is a config file of some sort for quick look that will let me default files with no extension to text files, but have not found it yet.

    Can't Quick Look for some text files

  • Foreach Loop Container with a Data Flow Task looking for file from Connection Manager

    So I have a Data Flow Task within a Foreach Loop Container. The Foreach Loop Container has a Variable Mapping of User:FileName to pass to the Data Flow Task.
    The Data Flow Task has a Flat File Source since we're looking to process .csv Files. And the Flat File Source has a Flat File Connection Manager where I specified the File name when I created it. I thought you needed to do this even though it won't really
    use it since it should be getting its File name from the Foreach Loop Container. But when attempting to execute, it is blowing up because it seems to be looking for my test file name that I indicated in the Flat File Connection Manager rather than the file
    it should be trying to process in User:FileName from the Foreach Loop Container.
    What am I doing wrong here??? I thought you needed to indicate a File name within the Flat File Connection Manager even though it really won't be using it.
    Thanks for your review...I hope I've been clear...and am hopeful for a reply.

    The Flat File Connection manager's Connection String needs to be set to reference the variable used in the ForEach Loop:

  • How can I stop it from looking for files?

    When I start iMovie, I seem to get stuck in a loop where it is looking for old files I have deleted. I don't have space on my harddrive to keep all my movie files, so once I have finished a project, I just get rid of everything. The problem is, when I start up iMovie again, it keeps looking for the files and I get "The Movie file "xxx-xxxx" cannot be found. Without this file the movie cannot play properly." I click cancel, but the error keeps repeating. How can I get out of this loop?

    How can I get out of this loop?
    Try deleting iMovie's preference file. This can be found in your user folder Library>Preferences. The file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Close iMovie before trashing the file. When next opened iMovie will create a new file with the default settings. You may need to change some settings to suit your own preference.
    It's best to delete files from within iMovie - not externally using the Finder. But, rather than delete them, why not store your Events on an external drive - you may need to use some clips in another project later. Project files are quite small as they contain only text references to the various items (assets) that comprise your project - therefore there is little point in deleting them. Also, check out the "Consolidate Media" function in iMovie, which lets you move/copy everything associated with a project (including Events, music etc) to another location.

  • Made a restore to a new mini but iTunes music is there but it won't play.  States "look for files"???

    Made a restore to a new Mac mini and iTunes music is there but won't play. It states "can't find file.  Look for it???"

    I have heard of some people having a similar problem, which was resolved by a simple restart of their iPhone.  If that doesn't help you, you may want to consider de-authorizingyour computer in iTunes, then re-authorizing it and performing a sync to your iPhone again.

  • Looking for "file management" program

    All,
    I am a collector of hundreds and hundreds of magazines, articles, etc. In recent times, I've been scanning articles from magazines and school books to digitize them.
    I'm looking for a program that will allow me to "tag" files and file them accordingly (sort of like del.icio.us).
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Lindsay

    LindsayB63,
    Well, other than third-party software (and you have already received at least one recommendation there; will probably receive several more), a few things come to mind.
    Off the top of my head, you could "tag" the resultant files with comments, or at least creative names, place them all in a central library (perhaps sorted into folders alphabetically or otherwise), then create a collection of "Smart Folders" to sort/show them according to specific criteria. You could have "standard" smart folders that are persistent, or you can use Spotlight at any time to create an "off-the-cuff" search for a particular criterion, or criteria.
    In the end, your searches will only be as good as the system you develop when adding comments/keywords (given that your scans are probably images, not the results of OCR software). Which brings up another subject. If searching this content is important enough, you might want to invest in good OCR software, to convert the scanned images to real text. This text could then be searched directly, instead of second-hand via your comments and keywords.

  • Failing to Reinstall iTunes - looking for file "iTunes.msi"  ??

    Hi,
    A while ago my laptop (Windows XP) overheated and switched off while I was trying to update my iTunes. Since then I haven't been able to reinstall it because it says there is still some of the old one left, and it asks for the file "iTunes.msi", which I eventually found but it failed and asked me to "Verify its existence".
    So today I completely deleted all files to do with iTunes, tried to install the new iTunes and it comes up with this again! I went on the support page but couldn't find what I was looking for.
    Please help me!

    Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
    (If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Look for files with different names

    Do we have any utility or command in solaris 8 where we can check for files in two folders with different names and display them somewhere? Manual search for such files becomes very difficult when there are a large number of files in the folders. Please suggest.

    Check with an Unix forum like http://www.unix.com

  • Looking for file storage site from where I could stream my vidos

    Hello guys,
    I have a .mov file from time to time, which I would like to store/post on the internet and send people it's URL so people can click on that link and watch that video.
    I have tried few sites, including mobileMe. They do provide storage for files but the only way people can watch them is that they have to download them first. When I send people link to that file, it does not stream, but it downloads to their computer first. So I am wondering, is there any site where I could store my video files for streaming?
    Thanks for any tips or advise.

    Hi Kirk,
    thanks a lot for your support. This is what I did:
    I have wrote a simple html using Taco. Here is the code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 TRANSITIONAL//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    </head>
    <body bgcolor ="000000">
    <table width="1920" height="720" align="center">
    <tr>
    <td><embed src="BGI.mov" height="720" width="1280" align="middle"></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    I have uploaded this html file onto iDisk Public Folder, just beside BGI.mov video file.
    Then I clicked Sharing options. iDisk generated this link:
    files.me.com/iceberger/qwg8qk
    When I copy this link and paste it into my browser window, my browser still downloads this html to my desktop. But when I open it, there is a question mark and no video is playing.
    What I do wrong?
    Thank you so much again for your help and for your patience.

  • Looking for file in the application server.

    Hello expert,
              I want to download a file from SAP application server, but when I get into file system for application server by AL11 , I can't find out the folder for my file, why?  is that authority issue or I did the wrong way to get into the system?  appreciate very much for your help.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi,
    At AL11, if you have the proper authorizations, you should see a Configure button.  After that, enter:
    - Directory Name:
    server-name\directory
    - Param. Name: Z_<directory>
    - ServerName: all
    Then, click on Save.
    Take into account that SAPServiceSID user should have read access to the share.

  • Looking for files query

    Hi there!
    I have the latest iTunes installed on my Macbook Air. I wanted to transfer files from a connected portable hard drive to an iPad mini which i plan to buy this new year.
    My question is how and where in the new iTunes do i find those files (in this case songs and videos) so that i can transfer them to my device?
    And since i want to transfer "select" few songs (or videos) to my iPad how do i do it? Is there a new (or improved feature ) where i can manually drag and drop them to my connected iPad?
    Please advice. Thanks.

    Have you enabled inventory for them?

  • Looking for file " accessibility.css "

    When one looks at the following page : http://www.apple.com/accessibility/vision/ about half way down is a section labeled "Safari Cascading Stylesheets (CSS)" and within that section is a hint and an image of Safari using a custom, supposedly available .css file called accessibility.css . Anyone know where and how to get a copy of that file to work with?
    TIA / z

    It's marketing. They're giving you a screenshot of what's possible. Nobody at Apple has any idea what your particular handicap is or what you would want in your CSS file. A color blind person isn't going to benefit from jumbo 96pt type nor is a person with macular degeneration going to benefit from a subtle hue change.
