Looking for Flash 8 Book

Hi
I work for a video production company and we've recently
purchased Studio 8. I'm looking for a good tutorial book/s that
will walk me through Flash 8 and Dreamweaver 8. Can anyone suggest
a good book for each program?

to basic design patterns, as well as more advanced
design patterns as the book progresses. Most

CFFORM format flash - Looking for a book

I am thinking about building a CF Flash based site. I have
been testing and reading posts on the net. Seems that a production
grade site will require ActionScript, lots of it.
Should I be looking at ActionScript books or CF books?

Just a little advice and maybe you already know that the
accessing speed of the flash form is pretty slow. If your users do
not have fast internet connection, maybe you should change your
mind in using cf flash. If you have an external site, maybe you can
try to build a module in cf flash, ftp the module to your external
site and test the accessing speed. If the speed is ok with you, you
can continue on what you're doing.
I have been doing many cf flash based sites for my internal
applications only. But for my external (internet) sites, I would
still prefer using cf html form. Because my audiences do not really
have fast internet connection.

Rather than attempting to find those files, I suggest you lock the Shared Object folder. This precludes any Flash cookie info from being written to your HD.
To do so, go to the Finder and navigate to the Macromedia folder - Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Continue drilling down to the Shared Objects folder. Now, simply move to the trash the contents of the Shared Objects folder. Once the folder is empty, click on the Shared Objects folder, Command/I to open its Info panel and click on the Locked option, then close the panel.
From here on out, no information will be written to that file. I did this awhile ago and have not had any adverse effect from locking the folder.

Looking for Flash tutorials

Hi. Im new to Flash and im looking for a place i can learn to make a short cartoon with a step by step tutorial. It doesnt matter what the story is, it could be about a snail and his friend or something. Im not yet comfortable doing cartoons on flash by myself.

Rather than attempting to find those files, I suggest you lock the Shared Object folder. This precludes any Flash cookie info from being written to your HD.
To do so, go to the Finder and navigate to the Macromedia folder - Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Continue drilling down to the Shared Objects folder. Now, simply move to the trash the contents of the Shared Objects folder. Once the folder is empty, click on the Shared Objects folder, Command/I to open its Info panel and click on the Locked option, then close the panel.
From here on out, no information will be written to that file. I did this awhile ago and have not had any adverse effect from locking the folder.

Looking for flash cookies (or .sol files)

Good day, all
Earlier this year I found out about Flash cookies (the .sol files). I didn’t like the idea so when I quit Safari I would run a search for .sol and then delete them all. Up until now I was using 10.3.9 for the OS and the 4 year old version of Safari.
Last weekend I up dated to 10.5.8 for the OS and 4.0.2 for Safari as I was concerned about security. (All went smooth and they work fine. Thanks to all that gave advice on how to do this!)
Now when I quit Safari and run the search for .sol I don’t get any files ending in this. I’m not keen on Spotlight yet, but I assume if I put in .sol it will return anything with .sol in it, or ending with it. Perhaps I am wrong on this?
I looked in the forums and found a post from Klaus1 that said where to look for .sol files and traced down the spot. He wrote: “In Mac OS X they are stored in the following location: /User’s Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects.
On my Mac, the directories are a bit different from this, but I found a #SharedObjects folder but it had no files ending in .sol and I found a whole lot of empty folders under /flashplayer/sys that reflect websites I’ve been to (#www.4kidstv.com) but still no .sol files.
So my question is: am I failing to find them? Or are they being deleted automatically? (I doubt it) Or are they in some new format that doesn’t end in .sol?

Looking for Flash/Adobe Air Developer for Startup who has some free time

We are looking for a Flash and Air developer who will be creating a Website Music Player for a new music startup Stereo9 (www.stereo9.com). We are also looking for the developer to be able to create a desktop application in Air, which will be used if someone chooses to download a song from the website...and the desktop application will be responsible for managing the download and downloading the music to the user's computer. Looking for good book on using DSLR for shooting video

I recently purchased a new Canon t3i DSLR. I've been watching videos on YouTube and it seems like this camera is capable of taking great HD video. My test videos look nothing like these examples. I am looking for a good resource that will teach me what settings to use, especially manual settings for shooting videos. Of course it would be great to find something specific to my camera, but I'm sure that the techniques will apply to most DSLRs.

Looking for a book that would teach me Java from the ground

Hi! I'm a high school student looking to learn a lot about Java Programming. I'm taking Computer Science III right now and I took Computer Science I last school year (My school don't offer Computer Science II). However, my Comp. Sci. I teacher was really bad and barely taught us, this resulted in a lot of people failing that class. So, I barely know anything about Java Programming and I'm slowly starting to understand it a bit by bit in Comp. Sci. III class. I thought it would be helpful if I purchased a book about Java and study on my own at home in addition to learning at school. Does anyone know a good book that teachers the basics of Java and beyond? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

"Head First in Java" book I've heard is highly recommended. I wouldn't suggest certification books since in my opinion they are for developers who have taken several programming classes and are preparing to pad their resumes with certifications for jobs
. You can go to the bookstore to see if its the book you want, then order it on-line a lot cheaper (www.amazon.com). After reading it, you have it on your bookshelf for reference (the index helps a lot to re-locate information). After you compile and run a few programs from the DOS command line, I would suggest downloading Eclipse Europa (search google for it). Its a free development environment many professional developers use. You'll have to install JDK first (its free, search google for it).
If you want to eventually develop web applications, here are the books I would recommend (I dont expect you to read them until you're in college, but it gives you some idea):

I found JRun Web Application Construction Kit, but i'm wondering if there are any others that are preferably free.
If you don't know of any free ones that I can download, maybe just suggestions on good material.
I need to make a backend admin tool for a website. Where I can upload products, change layouts/look, text, news allt hat jazz. And a guide book would be very handy for this.
