Wouldn't everyone?
You can get the OGG documentation here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/documentation/index.html
There really isn't a developer's guide, but you can get a tutorial (based on version 10.4) here:

  • JBuilder 8 + Weblogic 7 : Any "getting started" docs?

              Hi.
I am getting started with JBuilder 8 and I am using it with Weblogic 7 (sp1).
I "connected" the two togther based on a one pager that I saw on BEA's site. Are
there more extensive docs that describe the ntegrtation of JBuilder with Weblogic.
              Specifically,:
              i) Is there a "Getting Started" doc that desribes to a JBuilder newbie how to
              deploy to Weblogic?
ii) Is there a doc that explains when I use JBuilder vis a vis Workshop?
              Thanks in advance,

  • Resources or Book for getting started

I'm trying to get to grips with Extension Builder.  I have fairly simple needs - however they go beyond the ability of Configurator.  I'm comfortable with jsx scripting and configurator, and develop in Delphi - so I'm not a total beginner - although with action script / Extension Builder I am.
I'm struggling to find the correct resources to get me started as it's not clear to me exactly what I need to learn.  Should I be looking for a Flashbuilder application guide - or shoudl I be looking for some other book?
To provide a little more context - I want to create is a menu that's populated when photoshop starts with text from a file.  Looks like the pop-up menu in a panel is the component to do this - but I need to learn how to read the file and populate the menu and assign actions.  The menu items should then call a jsx code (or other method of shelling out if required) with a parameter.  So if the text file contains:
    'Text Item 1',1
    'Text Item 2',2
    'Text Item 3',5
Then I want three menu items labelled 'Text Item 1', 'Text Item 2' and 'Text Item 3' where selecting the menu items calls a jsx with parameters 1,2 and 5 respectively. I've happily done this in Bridge using a jsx script - but doing this in photoshop seems a different kettle of fish...
So - are there any recommenations for dummies guides to help me through this?
    thanks in advance!

I would second Al's suggestions to try one of Tom Wolsky's books and also take a look at the FCE forum.
Regarding not using the full power of FCE, I don't think anyone does.
It's like climbing one of those mountains where you seem to be reaching the summit only to discover, when you get there, that there is yet another peak ahead !

  • Suggestions for getting started

    hello friends
I am new to java. I have well knowledge about oracle forms , experience of 3 years in working on oracle forms builder.
and also I have studied c++...
now I want to switch on java , please show me the way that in later on I can implement java on my forms building programming using PL/SQL language or on application development.
which document is good for this or recommend me any soft form java book
    thanks

thanks for your answer , it's quit helpful for meYou would have found it by typing "java tutorial" into Google, most likely as the first search result. Its more valuable to learn how to look for information yourself, as you are going to be needing to do that a lot in the coming months. The basic rule is to search for "java WHAT YOU WANT"; so start the search query with the word 'java'. You'll usually find the information you need in the first five hits in my experience.
In the near future you are also going to be getting error stacktraces which will seem incredibly scary and 'weird' to you. In stead of coming here directly, first try to post the error message you get into Google, stripping off anything that is specific to you (like the name of a class you created or a host name). You are not the first person to get the exception, so you can usually find the answer with a simple Google query on the exception message itself.
Looking through the first five hits on Google is still a lot faster than coming here, logging in, posting and then waiting until someone is nice enough to answer. Just a friendly hint.

  • What's a good book for getting started?

I've been doing web design in HTML and ColdFusion for almost 3 years. It's clear that ColdFusion is on it's way out and I need to learn J2EE/Java/JSP etc. I have a few questions:
Java is a term I've heard associated with C++ and other types of programming as well as Web design. Are the Java/C++ Java and the Web Java basically the same type of language? Is the Web Java and JavaScript the same thing? I'm very confused!
What is a good book for getting these types of questions answered and getting started in J2EE/Java/JSP? There are quite a few variations of script languages out there and I want to make sure I learn the right stuff, ie the stuff that employers are going to be needing.
    Thanks!

Here is a free online version of a good book:
    http://pdf.coreservlets.com/Core-Servlets-and-JSP.pdf
Print it off or read from the screen. Otherwise, there are several good Java books out there. What I would do is go to the bookstore and thumb through a few books. Depending on what type of book you want (example based or theory) find the books that you think would satisfy your learning style. Write down the names and authors, go home and buy them used online at Amazon for tremendous discounts. This way you can buy several versus just one.

  • Newbie looking to get started in Mac programming

    Hi,
I have a handful of ksh scripts written for Leopard, I would like to create an interface/wrapper in C++, ref existing system prefs, to bring everything together under a suite of commands and eventually rewrite the shell scripts into C++. Is there a preferred C++ application and help resources, samples, etc to get started?

On macintosh, the preferred language is Objective-C, and the preferred framework is Cocoa. The tools to develop in Objective-C/Cocoa (and also other languages) are installable using your Leopard install disk, or you can download them on the [ADC website|http://developer.apple.com>.
You also have the documentations that go with it, and a lot of courses about Cocoa and Objective-C programming.

  • ADVICE FOR GETTING STARTED IN RECORDING

I have just purchased a new IMAC 24 inch 2.4 core duo with 4 gigs of ram. I was wondering what a good setup would be in getting started in home recording, would a good audio interface such as the presonus firestudio, with garageband be good, or something like presonus firestudio, with logic studio, be better, or maybe apogee ensemble, with logic studio? We will be doing some song writing, and recording a band. Any help would be appreciated. Like I said totally new to this.

    TCHADWELL wrote:
Hey thanks for replying, garageband is a pretty cool app. and I would not mind starting in that , what ever I start in to learn, I want to stick with that and learn it. How much of a learning curve will it be to go from garageband once I learn it, to logic? Audio quality is going to be important for song demos and ect.
The thing about GarageBand is that there's virtually no learning curve. It uses the same sound engine as Logic, but with a distilled interface that boils everything down to basics. Also, the latest upgrade to GB makes it less of a toy, and if you wanted to get started recording your band today you could plug and play into GB and do your thing with minimal technical distraction.
Logic has a bigger learning curve because it lets you control a million more things, but if you are motivated to learn it, that shouldn't be a problem. I actually enjoy learning and using Logic and you might too. Logic Studio also comes bundled with many extras that make it a terrific deal. You could always start recording in GB while you learned Logic, or just jump right into Logic if you were motivated to dive into the deep end first!
As far as interfaces go, as a practical matter, I think you would need to figure out if you're all you going to play and record together as a band, and if you have enough inputs for that. If you weren't going to use a separate mixer, the interface would need enough inputs to accommodate all the cables that were carrying signals from you instruments and voice(s).
The NRV-10 is very flexible for rehearsing + recording, although you would get better sound quality from either the Ensemble or FireFace. I would guess the Firestudio hovers around the NRV-10 in terms of sound quality. The truth however is that any of this stuff will likely sound good enough especially as you are just getting started. While it's easy for pros to wax poetic over master clocks and vintage pres, the fundamental technology has advanced to the point that any of these interfaces in the Firestudio range on up is going to enable anyone just starting out to get terrific results. And after you have some experience, and find that you have a specific need or want to lift the audio quality of a particular component, then there's a world of gear out there clamoring for your Benjamins .
So if it were me, I'd want to make sure that whatever I was getting was compatible with my system, could accommodate my inputs, and had sound quality that was good enough for my immediate goals. Also, as you are just starting out, I can almost guarantee you that you will need things that you don't yet realize you need. So whatever your budget is you should leave a little wiggle room for unanticipated expenses.

  • Looking for transaction start Workitems in status "waiting"

    Hi everybody,
we have to test some workflows. There are several Workitems in the WF in status waiting. So we have to do a lot clicks tu run this workitems.
Is there a transaction to start all or some selected Workitems ?
    Thanks a lot
    Regards
    Mario

At least I am not aware of any "mass complete wait" functionality (if this is what you are looking for?).
You could list the work items with SWIA, and then Ctrl+Shift+F12 (=Display work item from menu) -> Edit -> Change -> Complete wait. After first time you don't need the "Edit -> Change" part, so it will be just few clicks. Of course it's still quite annoying if you have hundreds of work items...

  • Looking for a starter keyboard recommendation for use with Garageband

I've got a new iMac running Lion.  I'm looking for a keyboard that will work with Garageband that I can buy for as little as possible but will work and be decent.  Looking at the Apple Store, I see three that could fit in my price range, the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32, the M-Audio Key Studio 49 USB-Midi, and the Akai Professional LPK25 Laptop. I'd appreciate any feedback about these.

    Good, good, and good!
M-Audio in particular makes great "bang for the buck" controllers.
If you spend more, you get a better physical keyboard, which can be more satisfying to play. But for budget models, hard to beat those, particularly the m-audio.
good site to check gear out:

  • Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user for Getting Started tutorial

I went to try and do the following tutorial to learn about SQL Developer 3.0, but I cannot get started because I'm unable to perform Prerequisite #3.
How do I "Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user"?
    Dave
Getting Started with Oracle SQL Developer 3.0
    Prerequisites
Before starting this tutorial, you should:
    1 .
Install Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 from OTN. Follow the readme instructions here.
    2 .
Install Oracle Database 11g with the Sample schema.
    3.
Unlock the HR user. Login to SQL Developer as the SYS user and execute the following command:
    alter user hr identified by hr account unlock;
Note: This tutorial is developed using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.
    4 .
Download and unzip the files.zip to a local folder on your file system. In this tutorial, we use the C:\sqldev3.0 folder.

I installed XE. It asked me to set up a username and password during the install.
How do I login as the SYS user, though?
There is a Connection Name, Username, and Password field when I try to set up a connection in SQL Developer, and I used the username and password I made during the install. I clicked the Test button to test the connection.
I see "Status: Failure -Test failed: ORA-28009: connection as SYS should be as SYSDBA or SYSOPER".
How do I tell SQL Developer "as SYSDBA or SYSOPER"?
Sorry, this is probably easy, and I'm just clueless about it.
