  • Looking for comprehensive program to create pdf file from gif image

    Hello,
    I'm looking for a program that can transform gif image file into pdf file. It is very importent to keep the same quality of the output document as the original image.
    I've seen Bridge CS5 in action and was very much disapointed, because the original gif image had 2 colors: black and white, took 60k Byte A4 paper size. But the output pdf file became somehow to 700k Byte size. When our proffi tried to lower the ppi or quality bar there was direct impact on the image quality.
    Long time ago Photoshop was able to export images as pdf files and one of the options of the pdf file was to keep the original image as gif, not as jpeg. Because jpeg is very costy format for black-white images and no-one wants to waste memory in vain, so I do not like to save pdf files of 1MB size for an image that takes 100k in gif.
    I do understand that nowdays using Photoshop to save pdf files is not the option anymore, isn't it ?
    What program can you suggest me to use ? I still prefer to use Adobe products, as long as I can, through I'm starting to get scared of sharp decline in quality.
    Thank you in advance.
    sincerely,
    Al

    No, I didn't. The last time I saw it, it was looking just as a regular Reader with a little more options and with an addon to MS-Office, to allow to save MS documents to pdf from inside MS-Office user interface products, and frankly, I do not highly admire there products at all, so I do not have MS-Office installed. But it was also long time ago. If the situation did changed since than,  I will try it.
    Thank you very much.
    I've just tried the Acrobat. It worked great ! Thank you. Just not all the images have options how to save them in pdf file, but that's ok for now

  • Looking for a program like OnyX or Cocktail...

    Well, I've got Windows 7 all up and running, and now, I'm looking for a program for Windows that's similar to OnyX. I know Windows has the "Disk Cleanup" feature, but it's really not that great.
    Anybody know of any programs that would do the same things as OnyX or Cocktail for OS X on Windows?
    Thanks.

    CCleaner is a must-have for windows. It cleans out invalid registry entries which slow your computer down. They update the software often.

    If you're trying CCleaner, try Defraggler also (same dev). It has a feature that only defrags files that need it.

    P.S. both of these are freeware

  • Looking for a program that can handel import and export of palm doc files

    I am looking for a program that can handel the import and export of palm doc Files that can convert them to to either txt or RTF files for Vista 32, running Palm Desktop 7.1.
    Could anyone give me a few suggestions of any plug-ins that would be good me?

    Ok, you need to clean uninstall Palm desktop 6.2. Install Palm desktop 4.1.4 and download and install documents to go version 6.
    Here are the clean uninstall instructioins for Vista.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents -->
    Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and
    copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer.
    Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below.
    C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or
    PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go
    into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck
    hide hidden files.
    Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
    Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box.
    Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. Use the username that is on the handheld.

  • Looking for a program to delete CVCs from a flat file, infocube, ztable.

    I am looking for a program that will delete CVCs from a flat file, infocube, or ztable. Based on the research I have done, I would imagine the core of such a program would be the use of function module /sapapo/ts_plob_delete.
    If anyone has such a program and would be willing to share it that would be great.
    Shane

    Hi
    Yes you can use this program, but I think the program /sapapo/ts_plob_delete will only delete the data from Master planning Object structure( MPOS). First you have to deactivate the planning are first than use this program which will delete everything and again activate the planning area.
    If you want to delete the data flat files or infocube, you require to delete the data directly from the infocubes and add this job in the process chain to delete everything.
    I hope this information help you.
    Thanks
    Amol

  • Looking for a program

    Hi guys and gals. Im looking for a program or a way to make a dvd with chapters. I have 2 xvid files that equal 1.4gb's. I'm doing it in toast 8 but it says theres not enough room to do this, and i cant figure out why. Is there another way i can convert it to dvd with chapters. It doesn't matter Manuel or auto chapter input,as long as it has chapters.
    Thanx

    Toast has no problem with room. I use Toast to generate the M2V and AC3 files from all sorts of video clips and routinely make DVD images (not DVD's - image files) that are 30-50 GB e.g. 15-20 hours long. I delete the image after encoding, as I need what winds up in Roxio Converted items.
    However if you are making a physical DVD and you have exceeded the maximum capacity then it won't work - what colour is the indicator around the red burn button? If yellow or red it exceeds the space available.
    Manually set the encoding rate to a lower rate then see if the indicator is green. Default rates are quite high a lot higher than they need to be. You can make a DVD with 2hours and 20 minutes at a 4 mbps encode rate. Which frankly is pretty adequate with source video like WMV, XVid, DivX etc.
    Note the 1.4Gb size of the Xvid originals makes no difference - how much TIME do they equal in total?
    Another method if you are not able to understand the encoding settings - make a DVD image first. Mount that image then make an image again from it - rename the new image, this time Toast will ask - Double layer or single layer? Pick single and it will reencode a new image which you burn later at exactly 4.32GB to fit.
    Note as to chapters just set to every 3, 4,5 minutes etc. and it will do them for you. Note as well each Xvid original will be a title on the DVD so you will have 2 titles and they wil have as many chapters as the setting will allow.
    If you want one long movie from the two, combine them with QT Pro first, save as a self contained MOV file and use that one file.

  • I don't use Photoshop - looking for software with similar functionality to Photoshop's Pixelbender / Oil Painting.  Any suggestions?

    I don't use Photoshop, I'm an Aperture guy.
    I'm looking for software with similar functionality to Photoshop's Pixelbender / Oil Painting.
    I'm especially interested in the bending of the pixels, along the lines of impressionist paintings - think van Gogh.
    Any suggestions?

    If you are interested in computer simulated drawing and painting effects, have a look at the "ToonIt!" plug-in for Aperture. This will do some of the basic work for you, but you will have to do quite a lot of editing afterwards, to turn the image into a piece of art.
    It might be easier, to do most of the drwing and painting yourself in the first place - ArtRage Deluxe is very versatile, if you have a large trackpad and pen.
    For example: Applying a light ToonIt! effect "Impressionist2": The diagonal
    cross-pattern is due to "Demo" mode - I have not yet bought the plug-in - it is rather expensive:

  • Looking for a program to assist me in making gift tags and such on my mac book pro

    I am looking for a program to design gift tags and brochures for my business.  I've seen a print shop program by borderbund.  Does anyone have any expereience with this?

    Have you tried a safe start by holding the shift key when you boot? If that works, and it can take a while to complete, see if a regular boot now works. If it does, you need to free up space on your hard drive.
    If a safe boot doesn't work, you need to either boot from an OS X DVD or go into target disk mode to connect via firewire cable to another mac to free up space on your hard drive. You need 5GB min, with 10% to 15%, or more, better, for systems usage.  If you have a backup, move some data files to it, erase them and empty the trash.

  • I'm looking for a program to convert midi files to sheet music on a Mac

    Hi,  I looking for a program like 'Notation Composer' or 'Midillustrator' (Windows based) that works on my MacBook Pro.  My computer skills are limited so I don't want anything to complex.  I have been using Notation Composer for a couple of years on a Windows based desktop and thought I would put my files on a MacBook Pro and to my amazement it won't work on macbook.  I'm not prepared to change my computer, so I'm looking at other options.  Cheers stweever

    Google search came up with Harmony Assistant.  Their are others.  You should also search MacUpdate and CNET Mac Downloads.  Only you can tell which software is too complex or not.

  • Looking for Quadractic programming package

    Anyone know where I could get hold of a java package for quadratic programming?

    Actually this is a line of attack I'm considering on a problem I posed a couple of weeks back, and for which I got no response.
    The project involved is a geographical information system. One of it's functions is to compose composite maps which may have map data superimposed from several sources, and also may have scales, captions, legends etc..
    This composition is specified by an XML file, which works like java.swing.Box in the way it organizes space.
    The specific problem arrises when sizes for the various frames are not explicitly provided. Some frames have minimum feasible dimensions, some have fixed aspect ratios, some are greedy for teritory in one or both dimensions, some aren't improved by being enlarged.
    I've just written code which does this allocation of teritory by linear programming. The trouble is the qualities I'm trying to optimise are still rather vague, and don't want to be linear. For example frames that display actual maps want to be as large as possible and still fit, but if there is more than one of them then they should, by default, be of similar area. If I take linear objecitve functions (e.g. the sum of the two dimensions) then one very large one and one vanishingly small one gives me the same objective score as two of equal size.
    I'm considering modifying the simplex algorithm, having find an optimum vertex, to look for neigbouring verticies with the same score and then average them, in effect if there's an edge, facet, hyperfacet or whatever of the simplex tangental to the objective planes then take the middle of it.
    I'll probably experiment with that today.
    If I can find a quadratic programming package I should be able to experiment without a big investment of time.

  • Looking for a program or app

    just coming from windows,i dont know if you call them apps or programs? im looking for something that will keep track of customers,money they owe,and money they pay.would be nice if it worked with the calendar and phone book but not necessary.thanks

    You didn't provide the actual name of the Windows program you are using so that features or prices can be compared. What do you expect to pay for a program, or do you want to use an online system that has monthly fees?
    I don't know of any inexpensive programs for the Mac that are specifically set up for Farriers, but there are many database type programs that might be adapted to your needs. GrandTotal, $79 - offers pretty good integration with the Mac Address Book and Calendar (especially if you get it bundled with their TimeLog program for an extra $10) and it also has an iPhone-iPad program that can read open and due invoices you've created with their program.
    You could also take a look at Bento, $49 - from FileMaker, which also has a program for iPhone-iPad. They offer some invoice templates that you can download and modify.
    Both of these companies offer free trials.
    I haven't used either of these products, but I am looking for something with better integration with my iDevices. The Quickbooks Connect program for iPad only works with the Windows version of Quickbooks Pro 2011 and requires a monthly subscription. Windows users are still complaining about it's lack of features so I'll probably pass.
    One of my clients has offered to buy my Quickbooks for Mac, and I might take him up on it if the GrandTotal program works out for me. The program is great, but not very nimble on-the-road.
    Hope this helps.

    Im looking for a calendar widget similar to androids. Don't want to use google gmail

  • Looking for graphics program

    OK, not sure if this is the right forum, but I couldn't find a better spot.
    I'm looking for recommendations for a good middle of the road graphics program for my Mac. On my PC I used Paint Shop Pro. Photoshop is expensive and way too powerful. I'm looking to edit picutres and design some website grade graphics.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    There are many graphics applications available. Preview can do some elementary image editing. iPhoto can do more. For more advanced image editing, here is a list of six, off the top of my head; I am sure there are more:
    Gimp - Needs X11.
    Gimpshop - Gimp variant. It's supposed to be more Photoshop-like. Needs X11.
    http://plasticbugs.com/?page_id=294
    Seashore - Open source Cocoa. Partially based on Gimp, but not X11.
    http://seashore.sourceforge.net/
    Graphic Converter - Shareware, worth many times its price. It is not the most powerful image editor in this list, but it does much more. Its real forte is opening any graphic format you are ever likely to encounter, and many, many more. Anybody who works with image files should have a copy.
    Color It! - Comparable to Photoshop elements in features, but cheaper, and much faster.
    Photoshop Elements - Much cheaper than Photoshop, but more than enough for most non-professionals.
    Gimp and Gimpshop use X11, which makes them rather un-Mac-like, but they are free. I have not really used any of the free ones, since I already have the other three. If I needed a free app, Seashore is the one I would try. Graphic Converter and Color It! are my favorites. Photoshop Elements is probably the most powerful.
