I've been programming in LV for about a year now and would like to learn more. What is the best text to buy that begins beyond the basics, or are the manuals packaged with LV 8.6 the best way to continue to learn more intermediate and advanced features?

"LabVIEW for Everyone - Graphical Programming Made Easy and Fun" third edition by Jeffrey Travis and Jim Kring.
But it and read it now before NI upgrades and changes everything (not really).
Prowling this forum for answer you can and can NOT answer is also a great exercise.

I know that some competing services, Kindle, Nook, etc... are restricted in doing text to speach by the book publishers.
If this is text in a PDF (not an ebook), then maybe there is another app that can to text to speach on PDFs.
If it is published books that are of interest, there is Audible.com <http://www.audible.com/>
In theory it should be possible to use the Mac OS X Text to Speach facilities to convert a document into an audio file, and they sync that to the iPod Touch. I assume there is similar text to speach utilities for Windows systems.
I'm also guessing that there are web sites dedicated to assisting sight impaired individuals that might provide ideas for getting text to speach options for the iPod Touch.

I'm looking for a way to find out the x,y coordinates of a string inside a PDF (with free java api's only)
I got a pdf, and a string to find inside it, what i need to do is to get this string x,y position inside that pdf....
If any one knows of such, plz let me know...

Daniel.AFAIK, a string of text does not have an (x,y) location inside a PDF file. The location is exists on your screen, and will differ whenever you adjust the resolution of it. Text can have a location when it's stored as an image though, but than it's really the location of a certain number of pixels (not necessarily a string!).

My ears were burning.
I use bits and pieces from many different libraries. For me, there's no one library that has all the right textures, articulations, etc. for any one instrument.
I recently purchased the Kirk Hunter EXS24 library. Most of the brass, strings, and woodwinds are superb. The caveat here is that almost all samples were recorded in some kind of hall or soundstage, so as with other libraries that were sampled with ambience, it can sometimes be problematic if you're going after a dryer sound. Depending on the sound, careful tweaking of the release time can minimize that effect.
So yes, I endorse Kirk Hunter. Bang-for-buck quotient is great ($325).
GPO -- I use their woodwinds and harp, the occasional solo string sound, percussion (the xylophone and celeste are wonderful). But the strings are pathetic and the brass poor. Still, for $250 it's an astounding deal, and worth it for the woodwinds/harp alone. It's paid for itself 50x over.
A favorite for strings are Sonic Implants. My copy went through a Gigasampler -->EXS conversion and I love them to death.
EWQLSO are not a fave. I've heard good things about Gold though.
Vienna... I've never been impressed with any of their demos. Well crafted but flat and lifeless sounding. I think the fault is with the demos and not the actual samples. Anyway, a friend recently realized a part for me using some of their specialty brass sounds and it was exactly what the doctor ordered! One day I'll invest in VSL and add it to the arsenal.

Then you are best to get a Macbook Pro. Your real aim should be the graphics card.
You won't be doing really good gaming on a discrete graphics card sharing RAM.
Depending of coarse what games you play.
eg. card games / COD games.

Sounds like your looking for a good IDE. As far as free ones
go, netbeans is as good as any. Comes with a lot of nice
features.. such as code completion, and has the latest version
of tomcat integrated.

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. I am looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens. Haven't found any posts that relate, but I'm not sure how to ask the right question. To be clear, I want to write a helper VI to go through a list of subVIs to make sure the background images are all in the same place when their respective subVIs open. I hate manually playing with scroll bars before I save each of the VIs... I'm figuring I need to find the top/left location of the background image (know how to do this already) and then set a VI FP property to these values or some offset, but I can't find the relevant property. FP:run-timeposition:custom looked promissing, but only affects the location of the window, not the area of the front panel the window is displaying.

Cool. Getting closer. The way I implemented your suggestion affects the subVI only if it is open. I can use this to do what I'm after, perhaps putting the code into each subVI. Maybe open all subs, run the helper, and save. Seems like I'm missing the elegant version...

Data merge is really useful in many circumstances, but my first question would be about the size of the project. A really large catalog might be better handled by processing an IDML in some kind of translation memory tool.
If all of your multilingual content is already in Excel, then it's probably best handled with a Data Merge. Note that you can't save Unicode CSV out of Excel for the merge, so for many languages you'll need to save "Unicode Text" out of Excel and tweak your import settings when you select a Data Source for encoding (Unicode) and delimiter (tab instead of comma).

Hi, I am looking for an mp3 player that has the following features:
1) Either a 30GB or more HDD, OR a sd OR a micro SD card slot for a 2GB card. (Note, I can buy an adapter so my sd cards fit into a compact flash slot. However, I did look at the Zen Vision M but I didn't see how to delete tracks from?my playlists.)
2) I need to be able to delete tracks in my playlists that I create in Windows Media Player (.wpl or .m3u format).
3) I need to be able to copy these updated playlists back to my pc, either with the usb cable or SD / microSD card.
Which products meet my needs? I li've in California, USA.
