Looking for help on good fonts to use in Illustrator
Hi,
I am new to Adobe illustrator, sort of making a migration from Fireworks. Can some one give me recommendation on some of the best fonts to use in Adobe illustrator for designing fonts.I am working on a school project for designing Fonts for Computer programming course that i will be giving.

The fonts that come ( or used to anyways ) with CS apps ( goodies folder ) should give you plenty of decent fonts to get started with. Lengthy technical Whitepapers might look better using a serif font similar to Adobe Jenson Pro. Charts and graphs would look good using a sans serif like Myriad Pro. Subheads, heads, call-outs look good as Sans Serifs. Body copy reads better using serifs. You might take a look at other manuals similar to what you want to do and use them as a gauge for your manuals.

Looking for help on what Hardware to use for FCS
I am looking to set up a shared storage for use in a small editing network and I am having a hard time getting my head around what exactly I need.
I have 4 edit stations that currently run externals. I am looking at a solution like FCS to centralize all the captures and media to edit from. We usually edit Apple Pro res and DV footage.
My understanding is that we need to connect to the storage using Fibre to get the bandwidth needed. My issue is wondering exactly how much hardware I need to get this done and what the layout of this hardware should be.
I currently have a Mac Pro that could be dedicated as the server running FCS. I plan on buying a Fibre connected storage RAID and outfitting the 4 Mac Pros in the office with Fibre cards. I am guessing I need to connect all of this with a Fibre switch. Is this all I would need? Would I be able to capture and edit off of the RAID using this configuration? What else would I need?
I have been looking for diagrams or some type of examples of configurations people have use and not been able to find much. Any advice would be great

That's pretty good, assuming you have the numbers right. You need Xsan software and a Fibre Channel card for every computer connecting via FC (the Xserves and Mac Pros). Note that the 20 port switch has 16 usable ports, and each storage or computing device should connect to two ports, so you've basically filled it up with what you've listed.
I also have an XServe that is on the (10 GB ethernet) network (in another building on campus) that is currently being used as a login/account manager (could it be used for metadata as well?).
It would be good to use this as the failover MDC to support the one you are purchasing. Can you relocate it so it is physically closer? It should be Intel. It is not recommended to have the primary MDC perform directory or other services, but some people do this (at a slight risk) on a secondary server.
Will I need to reduce one of the Mac Pro editors to merely a metadata controller (leaving me with 4 editors)?
Not recommended, except maybe as a backup.

You'll need a separate network for metadata traffic. This can be physical or virtual (on higher-end switches).
@trezero-your list is the first I've seen with 3 XServes. Is this just because of FCServer? Can you not use the MDC or one of the networked editors?
FCServer warrants its own machine since it is fairly CPU intensive, especially if you are doing transcoding on it. In high performance environments people will add a second machine just to do rendering.
Don't put any other server process on the MDC. You could use the backup MDC for FCSvr, but this isn't recommended since if it gets failed over to, then it is no longer the backup, and you're again risking your Xsan integrity on a shared system. In an educational lab setup where the risk of downtime is not an inconvenience, you could probably get away with it.
You would probably benefit from either taking the Xsan class or working with a professional systems integrator. I'm based in the Southeast and can refer you to a few people if you contact me offline. -
What to look for in a good quality font?
What are some things to look for in a well designed paid or free font? How do I know if it will print nicely? What can I look for after typing some text in Photoshop or Illustrator to ensure that it is high enough quality for printing?
Thanks.For print, 300 ppi is actually considered low resolution. High resolution is something about 2400 ppi and up. The average desktop laser printers you can buy today will do 600 ppi, and the high end desktop laser printers will go up to 1200 (sometimes even more).
On the other hand, 300 ppi is currently considered high resolution for a screen. The iPhone 4 for example, has 326 ppi, which is pretty high for a device of that size. In the coming years we will likely see tablet devices match up that resolution (the iPad first gen. has 132 ppi) and probably even surpass it. -

Iam looking for the image file that is used on the second monitor when an app is in full screen mode. not the NSTexturedFullScreenBackgroundColor.png as thats for the fullscreen background generally and not the one for the dashboard eather.
I dont like the gray background on the second monitor that comes up when an app is in fullscreen mode and want to change it.

I have not heard of a good reason for this to happen or how to fix. 3 days later my screen lights up and says to connect to charger.... so its back "for now". Best music player on the market when it works.

Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid that it can't be achieved. Exchange can filter messages with attachments, but it couldn't store these attachments on public folder automatically. Also, I don't see any transport rule can do it.

Looking for help with respect to configuring MS Exchange server to handle attachments over 10 MB for forwarding to Salesforce (Email-to-case).
Problem - SFDC does not create cases from emails that have more than 10 MB of attachments. Our clients will not go-live if their clients cannot send in emails with attachments over 10 MBs
Potential resolution - Configure MS exchange to strip off the attachments(if over 10 MB) and store it in a public folder, forward the email to Salesforce (so the case gets created or the email
is associated to an existing case), the client should have some way to know if the attachments were stripped off and should be able to dlownload the attachments and continue with case resolution.
Any help is appreicated!

I am trying to find an app or software to burn iMovie 11 slideshow to a dvd. I have a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. There are a lot of DVD Creator apps at the App store. Looking for a recommendation of what to use and tips. Thank you.
I've been using "Burn" for years and it has been the only DVD burning software I have ever used for the mac. I have never needed to look at other apps. Unless you want something that has more bells and whistles such as Roxio's "Toast" : http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
There are thousands of quality free apps out there for the mac that are not part of the App Store. All you have to do is read reviews online, do a little search, the Apple forums are full of recommendations from experienced users that have been here for years... -
one question I am looking for help with is, when you hit the history button I want my last fifty pages to show up instead of just fifteen. Is it possible to change that setting?
TYThe History menu can only show that fixed maximum of 15 as that is hard coded.

I'm going to be a freshmen in college soon and don't know what laptop I should buy. What do I need to look for? I will be mainly using it for typing essays, research, and music.
You should contact the department of studies at the school and ask what types of application that you might have to use. If there are Windows based ones, then you may have to consider installing Windows in your MBA or get a PC. This could have an influence on the amount of storage the MBA should have.

I am looking for a device that I can use to record a lecture (2 to 3 hours long or more) and later access to write notes to paper or convert the file to a printable file, is the iPad 2 the device that will do this?
In your reply you stated that iPad microphone is not very sensitive. And that you could hardly hear the play back.

Looking for help in making my computer good enough to play games
I bought a computer from Best Buy right after Christmas. It's a HPE-410y. I'm pretty happy with it in terms of speed and ease of use. I'm glad to be finally done with freaking Vista and blue screens of death.
Anyho, a buddy of mine wants me to play Bad Company 2 with him. I don't know much about the game other than its a shooter. However, I did read in the editoral review that the ATI 5570 my computer came with is weak. Also, 300Watt power supply needs to be upgraded as well? Do you think a graphics card/power supply upgrade is all I need? hmmm
I have glanced at the graphics cards at Best Buy when I've been up there, but not exactly sure what will work, what is good. Looking for any advice and help on what I should possible buy to get this computer good enough to play games. I wanna do this maybe the end of next month. My budget is 450 bucks.
