Looking for iMac compatible natural ergonomic split keyboard

Hi,
Now that I have a new iMac, I really miss the ergonomic split keyboard from my pc. It is frustrating going back and making corrections for my poor typing skills on a standard keyboard.
I went to Made4Mac and found choices, but couldn't tell if any have at the very least, the same keys as the standard Apple board. If anyone out there has had the same frustrations with the standard keyboard and found a good split one, please reply, thanks!

"The split board that I was using on my pc does not have a usb cable only ps2."
There are ps2-to-USB adapters out there. This for example:

  • Looking for Imac (mid2011) Product link

Looking for Imac (mid2011) link. I bought/built my iMac through the apple store in Aug 2012. I wanted to go in and PDF the specs the way it showed when i built it and the picture displays of the hook ups and etc but i cannot find the page anymore as it only goes to the newest iMac. Did anyone save those pictures or have a link to a site where i can view them?

Have you looked at the user guide for the mid-2011 iMac?
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/imac_mid2011_ug.pdf
That shows all the ports and features quite clearly.

  • Looking for a way to directly choose keyboard layout.

I'm looking for a way to organise separated keyboard keys combinations (or single keys - the best) for every keyboard layout. I want to be able to choose layout directly. One unique key (keys combination) for each layout.
One way may be smth. like setting a key to execute a command:
        setxkbmap -layout "us,ru"
    and
        setxkbmap -layout "ru,us"
For keys setup in OpenBox may be used obkey, for example.
In general it works. But in such a case, when not latin/english layout is the first one, or even single one, in the command's layout list, applications will not react on Ctrl-S, Ctrl-Z and so on. It do not depend on current layout, it depend on the first entry in last sequence to be used in the layouts list.
I'm shure there are some other better ways to implement the idea. Please, give me advise: what a tool, or tool set to study and use?

(just make sure that the changed layout doesn't break your keybind):
setxkbmap -rules xorg -model pc104 -layout us -option
Just change the layout parameters (and any other changes you need) for as many layouts as you want.
Unfortunately, if the single layout, or first in the list layout is not 'us', but my national, GUI applications will stop to react on Ctrl-S, Ctrl-Z and similar things.
    Can it be fixed?
Is it that Ctrl-[S,Z] don't work or that they change locations because the keyboard layout has been modified?  The first is a problem, the second is to be expected if you are changing the keyboard layout.

As I catch, for testing there is no difference between setxkbmap and xorg.conf. Also, there is no way to specify there layout specific switch combinations. In coma separated list of values for XKbOptions there is not binds to corresponding position in layouts list. All the combinations will do the same - cycle between layouts. http://www.xfree86.org/current/XKB-Config2.html#5
Layout itself and layout switching mechanics are too different objects (or classes) in terms of programming. I'm not shure I'll be on a right way, if I'll decide to dive deeply into syntax of '/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg' and '/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/*' (mentioned at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … _xorg.conf ) and hacking of ready to use layouts. If I'm searching for a way to switch them only. Am I right?
My suggestion isn't that you use the XkbOptions switch since this won't work for what you are asking.  Instead, I'm recommending you use a little keyboard shortcut utility, xbindkeys and use that to issue the setxkbmap command I mentioned earlier.  All you have to do is bind the shortcut to keys that don't change across keyboard layout changes (if you have a number pad, an easy solution is to use a modifier + one of these keys as it won't change).  This isn't a toggle like the xorg.conf edit, but can switch to any layout you choose to bind in any order you choose to perform.

  • Looking for Lion compatible All-in-One printer

Looking for MacBook Pro Lion compatible All-in-One color printer for my Mom who is 77 and on a limited income when it comes to purchasing ink. Preferred options include wi-fi, auto duplex, memory card slots, easy to operate. I was leaning toward a Kodak printer but majority of reviews indicate when any one of the ink cartridges is empty no more print jobs will process until the empty cartridge is replaced. In addition, folks indicate even though ink is less expensive, replacemnet is more frequent indicating that perhaps the cartridge capacity is smaller in size. Both are deal breakers. Canon PIXMA MX892 Wireless and the HP Envy series both appear impressive but I am confused regarding compatibility with Lion. Appreciate experienced recommendations, Thanks

    ChrisPbass,
I would suggest contacting HP Home & Home Office. They will be able to narrow down the field to what would be best for your particular use. There number is below.

  • I am look for a compatible minidvd camcorder

I am ready to buy a camcorder and I want one that I can import into imovie, of course. Where can I find a list of compatible cameras. Or what am I looking for exactly. Does it only need a firewire? or a certian file type?
Or maybe a camcorder that records to DVD. I do have a stream clip converter that I am a little bit experienced with. But I do want a camera thats going to let me edit my films on my mac.
    Any guidence please.
    thank you for your time
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

To the best of my knowledge there is no comprehensive list available. Even Apple's list leaves off many older camcorders than many of us know work fine with iMovie. Best thing to do it post your short list of possible buys and see if anyone here has one and can verify it works. For the most part, most DV format camcorders with Firewire ports tend to work.
iMovie is designed to only import from camcorders via a Firewire connection and DV format video. To the best of my knowledge, all MiniDV and Digital8 tape based camcorders conform to both of those things. Unless you have old Hi8 and/or 8mm video tapes you need to import, MiniDV is probably the better choice for most people over Digital8.
If you plan on doing a decent amount of work in iMovie, then you really want to stick with a tape based MiniDV type camcorder and avoid DVD or flashbased cameras as these record in a compressed format (typically MPEG2) that would have to be converted back to DV for iMovie use. As you mentioned MPEG Streamclip will do this for you, but why not start out with the better quality of DV format rather than a lossy compressed format?

  • PC guy look for iMac w/ FCE info

I have been researching FCE/HD on the 'net and spent the afternoon at the local Mac store playing with 24" iMac and iMovie & iDVD (they did not have a machine with FCE/HD on display) This was the first time I had ever touched a Mac. I have most of my questions answered but am looking for some unbiased input on three iMac options. Specifically I am trying to decide if cost is justified on the following three options:
    1) 2.16Ghz v 2.33Ghz processor speed; $250 difference
    2) 1gb v 2gb memory; $175 difference
    3) 128mb v 256mb video card; $125 difference
I already have a house full of PCs so I will be adding the iMac to my collection and my intent is to have it used solely for video editing/authoring.
thanks for any advice you can give.
    T

    1) ... I wouldn't care for 200MHz more...
    2) ... more is better..
    3) ... has a Mac a video card...? , as said above, for gamers ...
    but...:
you need lotsof harddrive space.. add as much as you can afford.. probably, an external, firewire connected one offers a better price/GB ratio... BEFORE usage, use Apple's DiskUtility to format to "MacOsExtended".. to avoid any trouble..
.. and if you like to 'waste' some money, add this to your FCE workstation:
    Contour ShuttleXPress
    50$ in the apple.store ... adds that "pro"-feeling ...

  • Looking for iMac G5 17 inch Rev. 1 Tear down guide...

    Hello,
I have been through literally every post I can think of trying to find the tear down manual for my aged, yet loved iMac G5 (17inch REV 1). So far all I can find is links to the newer 17inch iSight... the problem with that is the lower fan (CPU fan) and shroud DOES NOT come off using the instructions from the newer model. Forcing any harder than I have would surely lead to breakage.
I have the noisy fan issue and I am looking to take this apart and either clean and reuse or replace the fan entirely. But again I can get no further than removing the shroud from the processors heat sink. The machine works perfectly aside from the jet engine like scream of the CPU fan. And I would like to take as little apart on the machine as possible.
So if any of the guru's (I say that will all love and affection) can point me in the direction of the REV 1 17 inch tear down manual or better yet, have tackled this job themselves I would be eternally grateful for some pointers!
    Thanking you in advice,
    DJPerry

Sorry, I've run into the same problem you have, all the info is for the Rev B. I've looked everywhere and come up with nothing. I guess you'll have to figure it out and then post pictures so others can be helped

  • Looking for a compatible wireless router

I have a Macbook and id like to hook it up to a secure wireless router.
Anyone have any advise on what to get, anything but Linksys please.
    I was looking at the Netgear Rangemax 240 11G 240mps 2.4ghz Router Wep/WPA2 4port 10/100 switch.
Seem like a decent wireless router for apple?
    Thanks in Advance~

I have no idea how reliable this information is... (warning)
I was told that Linksys routers do not work reliably with the MacBook and MBPro. One Apple technician told me he was working on a way to get around the problem.
The reason I was asking about routers is because the Netgear router I currently use drops the signal now and again. Talk about frustrating! However, since I re-arranged the position of the router, cable modem and VOiP box, the drop outs have stopped.
By the way, the same people told me that D-Link routers work well with MacBooks.
To the previous poster on why NOT to consider Apple's Airport... How about the price tag? I would have one in a heartbeat if they were sold at a reasonable price. $200 compared with an average of $40 for any reliable router is enough to swing my pocketbook.

  • Looking for computer compatible with Premiere Pro cs6

    Hello everyone,
I am looking to invest in a new computer desktop that could support programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro cs6 and Photoshop cs6. I would like to go with a DELL computer if possible and I definitely need something that can support HD video editing. What would you recommend??
My budget is max 1500$. I have been looking at the Dell XPS8500 however the graphics card (NVIDIA Geforce GT640) is not listed in the tech specs required for the Premiere Pro cs6 program and I'm not sure if it's strong enough to support the Adobe programs. If it's possible, I would also like to have a re-writable BR optival drive, but it's not a necessity.
I will be doing a lot of video editing (I am a film student) and I will be using video footage from my Canon 60D.
Please let me know your best suggestions and if I should build my on PC, what do I REALLY need to be able to edit videos with ease (no lagging, etc.).
    Thanks!
    - Jackie

On a low budget, a DIY or a custom system. For under $2K, you could put together a nice DIY system as John did.
Decent Dell and HP workstations start at $3K, and on the low end, I'd recommend HP Z420 over Dell T3600.  Decent custom systems (basically DIY but put together and supported by professional integrators) also start around $3K but offer more performance for the money vs. Dells and HPs.
    Like Harm, I don't think XPS8500 is a good match for CS6.

  • OSX 10.4.11 Looking for a compatible printer

I'm trying to find a compatible printer to work with my Mac Mini OSX 10.4.11
    Regards
    AESD

    Thanks Carolyn,
I'm new to mac.  I just purchased a Macbook Pro and am switching from a windows desktop.  It's a big learning curve.  I have an Epson Workforce all in one printer and it is working fine with my new laptop.  It does have fax capability but I have no need for it.
However, I find that the ink is very expensive.
I am not a business, but I do quite a lot of printing, including photos.  I'm an artist.
I am wanting to replace my color laserjet multifunctional printer that I bought in 2007.  There are no driver updates for it, so I have to search for a new printer.
I think I will have to wait a while until a compatible laserjet comes on the market.  It seems I'm hitting my head against a brick wall!!!
Thanks again for trying to help.

  • Looking for a compatible HD to stream to ATV.

I am buying a new Mac Mini and external HD. The external HD will be used to store my iTunes movies folder. I understand that some hard-drives are not compatible with syncing/streaming to ATV. Can anyone recommend a compatible HD (size 1.5-2T)?
    Thanks.

not sure what you have read or have been told, but there is no such thing as an "appletv compatible HDD".
providing your mac mini can use the external HDD as normal, then there would be no problems using it with the appletv.
personally i would recommend using firewire 800 as the connection.

Any news on a bluetooth ergonomic (split) keyboard from apple? Or at least one designed for the Mac? I love the feel of the standard Apple bluetooth keyboard, but it just kills my wrists.

  • I am looking for gujarati software to brows on internet can any body help ?

Why apple stores do not have any help regarding software for languages ????
I am looking for Mac compatible Gujarati software so that I can read Gujarati news papers on Internet and can also type in Gujarati fonts.

I am puzzled by your question, since Apple has provided support for reading Unicode gujarati and devanagari and other indic scripts for many years already.
Could you tell me whether you have any problem with these sites?
    http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/
    http://gu.wikipedia.org/wiki/
In OS X, typing is provided by keyboards you will find in system preferences/language & text/input sources.  Are you not able to find or use these for some reason?
Apple does not provide support for the obsolete technology used by non-Unicode websites in these scripts.  For that you will have to download and install yourself the custom non-standard fonts which those websites normally provide.
