Looking for JAVA Applet Guru

We are looking for a JAVA applet guru that knows a way to discover all of the fields on a JAVA applet and then return the list and data to a calling app without having any access to the applet source code. Previously the best answer we have received is "just OCR the screen"
Any other ideas? JDPA
We have a good consulting opportunity for someone who can provide a proof-of-concept application.

Simple. Open your NWDS IDE and go to Help --> SAP Web AS documentation --> SAP Web AS Technologies and give the search query as "webdynpro api". You will get the javadoc installed in your system.

Did the markup for java applets change with version 4.0.5

Starting with Safari version 4.0.5 java applets are not rendering correctly. The Java coffee cup loading image pushes the actual content down. Was the applet tag markup changed with this release?

First, try a different user account with Safari and see if the same thing happens. If it does then it's a system wide issue, not just your user account.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

Industry use for java applets?

I have been writing an applet for my fantasy football league that uses a mysql database. I am doing this to learn java. My counselor from NC State referred me to some guy looking for a web programmer. He called me up and I was able to get him to come over to the house just a minute ago. His company wanted a website to be used only by his employees as they called customers and asked if they had any metal cutting equipment they wanted to sell or buy.
He wasnt very computer savy but insisted the site be done with ASP or.NET.
My question is this....
Why would a java applet not suffice for this problem? I even offered to do it free for something to put on my resume(maybe this was my mistake). I am planning on learning JSP/J2EE very soon as I am almost finished my my applet.
I am just wondering what would be the problem with doing this as an applet.
I told him I could do it in a week as I know I could. Why do companies insist on using technologies they dont really need? Or am I not seeing something here? Any feedback appreciated...

Companies insist on using technologies that they don't really need for three reasons:
1) (a good reason) They've already paid for some equipment or licenses and want to exploit those purchases. Introducing a new technology would require new expenditures. (This isn't applicable if the new technologies are free, of course.)
2) (a good reason) Their current staff already know a particular technology, and so they insist on doing new work in that technology to reduce maintenance issues. If everyone at the company knows .Net and you do something in J2EE, then in the future any maintenance would require either training, or hiring an outside consultant to do the maintenance. This costs money.
3) (the bad, but sadly most common reason) They're stupid. They read a sales pitch from Microsoft that says "J2EE bad, .Net good" and they believe it. Or they just love everything from Microsoft, because, gosh, doesn't everyone? Or they learn a tiny bit of information (".Net can be used to do things kind of like this") and refuse to consider anything else because that would reveal the tinyness of their knowledge.
Though it's not clear to me from your description whether applets are the best solution either. Why does he need a web site at all for this? What will the application do? Why not use C++ or Flash/Actionscript, for that matter?

Looking for Java Reference Manual, Not User Manual

I'm a mainframe programmer learning Java. I'm going thru "The Complete Reference Java" by Schildt. In the mainframe world, manuals are usually broken into reference manuals (shows just the syntax) and user manuals (shows how to do things). I'm looking for a pure Java reference manual that strips away all of the verbose explanation of how to do things and just lists in an organized way the pure syntax of Java. Does anyone know of such a manual? Everything I've found so far falls more into the user manual category that perhaps contains the syntax somewhere (if you look for it), but is overburdened with tons of explanations. Thanks.

Thanks. What you provided is a bit like a reference manual and user manual combined into one. It has the complete syntax along with plenty of explanations. BTW, I think I know where Schildt got most of his material for his Complete Java Reference book. It's almost like he took the Java Language Specification book and reorganized it into a tutorial format.

Looking for Java Image Format converter

hi,
I am looking for an open-source site or so, which has Java code on converting different Image types eg. gif/jpeg etc. to PNG. I am building an application which needs to display images. It would be great to have a tool which takes the image and converts it to the PNG format.
Can anyone help me out?

hi cleo. there is no tool you can patch into your source. there are two posibilities that i know of.
1. take a look at the algorith for gif and jepg and chang it to png.
2. send the link to a server, which you have to program, as a servlet, which will get the html page just as the midp would do, have a normal converter jpg -> png or gif -> png, see if what type of image it is, choose the right converter and convert the pic. format the text the way you want and then send it to the mobile phone. this will make most of the work be much faster since the mobile phone is very slow, and wont be very evectif on converting stuff.

I have a couple hundred expressions saved as animation presets that do all kinds of automated but editable behaviors for layers. One of my favorite is this FlyInBounceOut. Apply this preset to any layer at any scale, 2D or 3D and the layer flys in from the left side of the frame, bounces to a stop, then, just before the out point, falls off the bottom of the screen. Everything from the speed of the fly in to the bounce rate is controlable by slider and the in and out point of the layer set the start and end point for the animation. All you do is add a layer, set the in and out point, move the CTI to the middle part of the layer and drag it into your desired resting position, then apply the effect and adjust the speed and bounce if you would like.
Here's the preset for you or anybody to look at.
You could take Andrew's expression or some variation of it, create an animation pre-set, and then apply it to all of your photos.
I will see if I can dig up the thread where I posted this example January 17th of last year. This was just an expression that uses index, valueAtTime and a slider to make one layer follow another.
Another approach to this problem would be to set up an image sequence with your photos in a pre-comp that was sized to the maximum size you want the photos to be and then use that pre-comp as a sprite or textured polygon in an app like Particular.

First of all an Applet does not have to be "installed" as you would with a normal application. The browser handles the install and execution of the applet.
