Looking for LG Cinema 3D LW9800 review

Does anyone know of a site or blog that has a good review on LG Cinema 3D LW9800 model? I heard it’s THE top notch 3D TV in the market right now and I’d really like to read a review on it. I know Cnet has uploaded a review on the model just a couple days ago but I don’t really trust it because what it says is really different from what users’ reviews say. I’ve heard that cnet’s kinda biased against LG (this is totally just what I’ve heard. I don’t know if this is a fact!)… All the user reviews say LW9800 has really high quality images and high performance. If anyone knows of a site or a trusted blog that has a review on this product, please share! Thanks in advance.

Its not that cnet has anything against LG, its that LGs products took a step backwards from last year, and their performance reflects that.  Case and point:  I am a plasma fan through-and-through.  I was very interested in their 2010 model 60PX950 which had excellent 2D picture and black levels and was THX certified in both 2D and 3D.  Alas, I couldnt afford one last year.  In 2011 LG came out with the 60PZ950, which is not like the previous model.  It has much lighter black levels (something also pointed out on cnets review) and easy to see with the bare eye.  Other than that it is the same set.  But for the same price is unacceptible.
Also their LEDs took a step back from what they had last year. Their LX9500 was a gorgeous LED display that wowed even the most plasma-hearted.  The 9800 is supposed to get back to that tradition, but i'll reserve judgement until I see one in person.  The LV and LW series are some of the worst performing LED sets on the market in regard to their screen uniformity (problems with brightness around the screen) and have the worst off-axis viewing of any LED set ive seen this year.  They seem to have been relying on "cinema 3D" as their marketing trumpet this year, but have alienated people like me that thought they were going to be the "anti-samsung". (meaning they cared more about performace than aestetics).
Of coarse people will reply to this and say "my LG blah blah model TV looks great", and they are entitled to that opinion.  However, you now have paid for a product that regressed from their prior generation.  I have hope that LG will improve in the future, but right now they are resorting to tactics that make them resemble their rival, Samsung.

Looking for a back up drive for photos and videos that works with time machine, prefer wireless. Time capsule has poor reviews and already have BT hub that serves as a good router. 3gb or 4gb capacity preferred but 2 would suffice.

Plug a NAS into the BT Hub that does TM. Look at Synology.
You just use the wireless of the hub.
But the cheapest solution is still the TC.

  • First PKGBUILD - looking for review

    Hello all,
I have created my first PKGBUILD for some new scientific computing libraries and corresponding examples related to my field. I am looking for input before submitting this to the authors for inclusion on their site (and possibly to the AUR if there ends up being more interest).

I'm not using any .install file, is this something big I am missing? Again, this is my first time writing a PKGBUILD, so I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Thanks - I will take note for future packages, or if I end up using a non-git version. makepkg seemed to not be able to handle the zip file itself, though. If I re-hosted the source myself in a tarball it worked, but on the authors' site I could only find it as a zip.
My main question is still about installation location, though. This typically installs itself in:
    /usr/local/ismrmrd/bin
    /usr/local/ismrmrd/lib
    /usr/local/ismrmrd/include
    /usr/local/ismrmrd/schema
    /usr/local/ismrmrd/cmake
I was able to change this to:
    /usr/bin
    /usr/lib
    /usr/include
    /usr/schema
Obviously this prevents cmake/FindIsmrmrd.cmake from being installed at all (not sure this is OK or desirable), It also creates the /usr/schema directory, which I don't think is really standard. Where should I put such files? Should I instead install the whole package into /usr/opt/ismrmrd? It doesn't seem big enough to warrant that, but I don't know where else to put the schema and cmake directories and the associated files. Maybe in /usr/share?

  • I'm looking for iPad backup to windows software reviews

I'm looking for software that will run on windows that will backup/restore reliably :
    iPad2 / iPhone 5
    1. apps.
    2. photoes / movies.
    3. Settings.
    4. Documents.
    5. Contacts
    6. iBooks
    Thank you,

I realize iTunes is available for partial backups.
I do sync with iTunes.  I don't like iTunes.
    1.  I have 4 different devices I need to backup up.  iTunes lets you have one account sync'ed to one PC.
    2.  iTunes doesn't backup everything.
    3.  iTunes fails sometimes and you loose what you have sync'ed.  I would like backup software that is more reliable.
    Thanks,

  • Looking for a monitor

I am looking for a monitor to use with Aperture and Final Cut. Maybe 22 or 24 inch.  I am not ready to spring for an Apple Cinema Display, so what is out there?
Any good websites with reviews or recommendations for the forum ?

    Kirby Krieger wrote:
What's your budget?  Seriously -- no reason to make recommendations of specific monitors without knowing how much you expect to spend.
Very strongly suggest including hardware calibration along with the monitor purchase.  A lot of monitors are good, some are superb, none are reliable without hardware calibration.
I use NEC monitors and a ColorMunki Photo photospectrometer, and am happy to recommend each.
    Kirby,
I would like to stay under $800 and it is looking like that might be a realistic budget for a decent 22 - 24 inch monitor.
I agree with your point about calibration.  When I visit my son in Pa I use his calibration hardware on my 17"MBP.  So I will be getting my own system to keep things correct.
In the reviews I have read NEC has had some very favorable models. I have seen some very low cost monitors that are reported to have great specs around color and the other important parameters but they tend to have limited input choices and I am not sure about the long term reliability of these.  I typically lean toward name brands, like NEC , that have a proven track record.

  • Looking for a notetaking app that syncs with PC

I use playbook for mobility but PC for work.  I am looking for a (simple) note taking app that will allow me to sync with PC - preferably via dropbox. I used to use cintanotes on PC but that doesn't sync to PB.  Looked at Evernote but seems bloated and some adverse reviews.  Some others exist by seem to have issues also - eg Simplenotes.  Anyone out there found a good working solution?

  • How to look for duplicate process instances?

In Oracle BPM 11g, is there a good way to look for duplicate process instances based on process data attributes? For example, I have entered an instance of a process for 'John Smith' with a date of '4/1/2010' and I want to see if there is another instance in the same process with these same data values to evaluate as a potential duplicate. I believe we can write a java service to invoke the API to do this, but I am wondering if there is a better way within the process design to do this (XPath extension functions or soemthing?). It seems like this would be a common need.

I am really looking for an approach to looking for duplicate instances within my process flow, not from EM. So, if the user starts a new instance of a process, I can check for another instance that appears to be a duplicate and direct the flow to a human activity to review the potential duplicate and make a decision as to whether to continue processing the new instance or reject it. My guess is that we need to us a service task to invoke java code which uses the API to investigate other instances with the same values. But, I was hoping for a simpler solution....I have to think that this is not too uncommon.

  • Looking for Lion compatible All-in-One printer

Looking for MacBook Pro Lion compatible All-in-One color printer for my Mom who is 77 and on a limited income when it comes to purchasing ink. Preferred options include wi-fi, auto duplex, memory card slots, easy to operate. I was leaning toward a Kodak printer but majority of reviews indicate when any one of the ink cartridges is empty no more print jobs will process until the empty cartridge is replaced. In addition, folks indicate even though ink is less expensive, replacemnet is more frequent indicating that perhaps the cartridge capacity is smaller in size. Both are deal breakers. Canon PIXMA MX892 Wireless and the HP Envy series both appear impressive but I am confused regarding compatibility with Lion. Appreciate experienced recommendations, Thanks

I would suggest contacting HP Home & Home Office. They will be able to narrow down the field to what would be best for your particular use. There number is below.

  • Looking for help in making my computer good enough to play games

I bought a computer from Best Buy right after Christmas. It's a HPE-410y. I'm pretty happy with it in terms of speed and ease of use. I'm glad to be finally done with freaking Vista and blue screens of death.
Anyho, a buddy of mine wants me to play Bad Company 2 with him. I don't know much about the game other than its a shooter. However, I did read in the editoral review that the ATI 5570 my computer came with is weak. Also, 300Watt power supply needs to be upgraded as well? Do you think a graphics card/power supply upgrade is all I need? hmmm
I have glanced at the graphics cards at Best Buy when I've been up there, but not exactly sure what will work, what is good. Looking for any advice and help on what I should possible buy to get this computer good enough to play games.  I wanna do this maybe the end of next month. My budget is 450 bucks. I don't need to pay to have any upgrades I decide to get installed, my brother can help me do that. I just need help in what to buy.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Agreed that it's an above average computer. If you still want to do the upgrade:

Coming right at your budgeted $450.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • Looking for a Rewind like app for Tiger

Back when I had my Performa 6360 running OS 8.1, I bought a utility called Rewind from Power on Software. The app could restore my Mac to an earlier date, or restore any file that had been deleted from the trash,etc.. It was more poweful than the similiar features found in TTP, and Norton.
Does such a utility exist for OSX? Rewind failed (and why Power on is trying to hide any indication that it ever existed) for a number of reasons. For one the utility slowed down my Mac by 50%, and for two the utility created huge archives, and often corrupted its restore rescue soft boot image.
I know such a utility may not be as essential in OSX as in the earlier OS. That os would often crash for one. My ibook has crashed no more than 20 times in the 10 months I have owned it. My Performa crashed that many times in 1 month alone.
    John

You wrote: "But I am afraid that Retrospect is not the same as Rewind, or Norton Go Back for Windows."True. However, since you have Retrospect, if you're using Backup Sets for backup, you can Restore a disk for which there is a Backup Set to any point in time for which a backup session exists.
Perhaps the reason there is no Rewind or Go Back for Mac OS X is because it is far more stable than Windows, as you note.
Next time you're looking for solutions, I recommend searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings are helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff. Both commercial and shareware/freeware solutions list on those sites and you'll generally find an answer faster than posting here.
You wrote: "Therefore I have come to the conclusion that this is yet another limitation of owning a Mac...No question my XP box has many advantages, but its also quite obvious that OSX is far more stable and secure than XP."Only you can decide for yourself which platform fits your needs best.
    Good luck!
