Looking for Macally G-S350SUA enclosure icon for my desktop disc icon

I just got one of these for my TM backups. Does anyone have a disc icon that I can use? Or know where I can find one?
Thanks!

Contact Macally and see if they have one.

  • I need help! I bought an external drive to backup the computer. but although the computer recognizes it (shows up on the right side with the icon - mybook3.0 - I cannot get time machine to look for a hard disc - it only wants to use airport!

I want to use time machine. So, I got a mybook3.0 and hooked it up. the computer recognizes it fine (shows the icon on the desktop etc) but time machine refuses to look for any hard disk, going on airport instead and refusing to let me select anything or do anything manually (buttons are not clickable - and anyway, no HD at all shows)
    I'm getting frustrated!!
    PLEASE HELP

Just to clarify - when you run Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder) the drive you bought doesn't show up in the window under your boot drive?
If it appears on your desktop, you should see it in the Disk Utility window as this displays all mounted drives.
You then click on the drive (Mybook3.0 or whatever it appears as), and choose Erase from the options on the right.
    Best Wishes.

  • Looking for a "desktop search" app

I am using kde, and I am searching for a desktop search app that uses a database and searches within common filetypes.  I've tried a couple so far, and haven't found what I'm looking for:
kerry/beagle:WAAAY too much bloat; creates ~2gigs of logs per day, once crashed and started loading my filesystem with useless data.
strigi/clucene: tried it, didn't really work, settings kept on resetting to default.
I am looking for something that doesn't have heavy gnome dependencies.
Any suggestions / what are you using?

    Next one...
    RECOLL
Depends only on Qt and xapian-core (from community).
All its dependencies are in official repos except for libtextcat and xapian-core (both in community, however).
Src download is 850Kb, and since the package in [community] is outdated, I built one of my own:
    Targets: recoll-1.90-1
    Total Package Size:   0.9 MB
    Total Installed Size:   2.6 MB
    Backend:
It also uses the xapian backend.
It can run as a daemon that uses FAM or inotify to provide continuous monitoring/indexing, but the docu says it's probably better to run a cronjob.
While Pinot was using an xml config file, Recoll has a very detailed set of plaintext config files and it can maintain several indexes in parallel (e.g. one with monitoring and one with cronjob indexing).
plaintext, html and email are handled internally, and for other file types you have to resort to external utilities again, of which unrtf is in community, pstotext is only in AUR and I didn't find id3lib/id3info at all.
Again, extension is possible. Here you have several steps which take resources and are slightly more complex to set up than in pinot, but probably allow more fine-grained tweaking: you have a mimeconf configuration where you associate mimetype and filter ('application/pdf = exec rclpdf'), you have an assortment of filters ready in /usr/share/recoll/filters, you have a mimemap config file where you can associate filenames/endings and mimetypes (Unfortunately it uses a different format from e.g. mutt's mime.types, but it also includes special, recoll-only settings - like exclude certain files from indexing or associate files with a certain name with a different mimetype when they're in another direcory)
    Search:
Recoll has its own (qt, non-kde) GUI and is only adressable therewith, thus not integrated with any of the other frontends. (Export for pinot, which should be able to access recoll's xapiandb...)
You can use proximity and phonetic search, stem expansion and glob/regex expressions. And you can specify search criteria by metainfo (author, subject, keywords). AFAICT, Recoll does not (yet) understand queries that conform to Xesam specs, neither RDF.
Recoll remembers the last few searches that you performed. You can use a combobox to recall them. However, only the search texts are remembered, not the mode (all/any/file name). (Also documents actually pre-/viewed are remembered.)
Typing Esc Space while entering a word in the simple search entry will open a window with possible completions for the word. The completions are extracted from the database.
Double-clicking on a word in the result list or a preview window will insert it into the simple search entry field.
Search results formatting can be formatted freely with a qt-html expression per default they display several occurancies of the search term along with their respective, (very) limited context. They can be opened either with a mimeview configuration similar to the mimemap file from above or with xdg-open. Or you can view them in an external preview window (which has an incr. search feature). (You have icons for file types but no thumbnails.)
    Experiences:
System seemed to me to not be so very sluggish when it did the indexing.
The same directory with ~3100 files, mostly pdf, a few doc and html files, weighing in at 1.5Gb. was indexed in
    real    15m13.378s
    user    8m47.466s
    sys     3m33.439s
and additional stem databases for german and french took another 50 secs.
    du -h:
    14M     ./xapiandb/stem_english
    15M     ./xapiandb/stem_de
    13M     ./xapiandb/stem_fr
    236M    ./xapiandb
    246M    .
Recoll UI started up quickly and results were returned almost instantaneously. (Not a complicated search expression, tho) I have not yet tested for complicated expressions or a test search for a term that occurs only rarely, so I cannot tell if the small db size has its drawbacks.
So these are still open questions:
    [*] monitoring-mode performance impact?
[*] search expression options: RDF ?
    [*] search results: how accurately?
[*] attitude towards Xesam and offering services to other frontends?
What I find interesting is its configurability, and the small db size (well, as of now I have only pinot to compare it with, so maybe it's not so extraordinary after all).
    (Next will be Tracker...)

  • Looking for a desktop replacement, how will this one fare?

I think I settled on the one I am looking for...
My price range is probably no more than 1300-1500.

    Toshiba X875-Q7190
How will this stand up to some moderate to heavy editing? I am new to the video editing world, coming from music production. I would mostly like to make simple youtube videos for man on the street stuff and work my way up to documentaries and the like, maybe around 45 mins in length or so with lots of graphics and stock footage. Will this be a good bargain for what I am looking for? I would rather it be overkill than get invested in the process of editing only to find out my computer cant cut it...
Thanks a lot you guys I am always learning more when I come here!

BTW...this is something I did recently which got me on this kick. I did it on my brothers Dell. I think it was a 17R if im not mistaken. It took it pretty well and rendering was about 2 hours for this 22min clip which is longer than I would have liked. But I didnt do any color correction or get to heavy into it, I was just learning the lay of the land for Pp.
I will mainly be using AVCHD full 1080p from my Canon Vixia M500 and 1080p from my GoPro Hero 3 Black if that makes any difference...Thanks!
    heres the clip.

  • IMac M5521 family - looking for correct AHT disc

    Hi,
I just got a couple of old teardrop style iMac's - from the M5521 family.  I've tried several hardware test CD's and DVD's on them and they all report that it is the wrong version.
The specs from the label are:
    400MHZ/512K  L2/CACHE/64MB SDRAM
    IMAC DV 10GB   HD/DVD/56
If anyone could at least tell me the correct version, I may be able to find it!
    Thanks!

What versions did you try with your iMac DV400?  The AHT disk [iMac Version 1.2.2, for use with iMac (Summer 2000), iMac (Early 2001), and iMac ( Summer 2001)] would have been identified with this part number 693-4327-A.  The disk image for it can be downloaded here.

  • Spotlight Search: Looking for eg. "disc utility" in German 10.7 installation does not work?

I've been using German version of OS-X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 before on my Mac. Within this versions it was alway possible to do search (spotlight and other) on the english names of apps and settings. E.g. entering "Disc Utility" brought up "Festplatten Dienstprogramm" in Spotlight. This is not working anymore in 10.7 - or is there a solution?
    Thanks,
    Robert

Does your Mini have a built-in Optical (CD/DVD) drive? Are you using a USB2 device for you USB installer?

  • Looking for grey desktop wall paper at the start of MacBook Pro  OSX Lion

    Hey guys,
I really like the grey wall paper with light texture... the one when you start up MacBook Pro OS Lion and you log in. I'm wondering if anyone know where the file is hiding in computer or anywhere on web to download? I wanna set it as my desktop. It's really easy on the eyes and really clean look.
    Thanks,

I'm going to back up to Firefox 7 next. I'm getting the drift that 8.0.1 and/or flash on 8.0.1 are unstable.
I'll let you know if that solves this problem.
    NOPE. This had no effect.

  • I'm looking for Apple desktop P.C. as an upgrade from my Dell /windows XP. I need  guidance.

I currently use a 6 yr. old Dell Vostro 200 (Windows XP). I want to upgrade to an Apple desktop PC. I need guidance to a product. Are any peripherals compatible (ie. screen, printer, Maxtor hard drive)?

Almost all  peripherals are compatible. I'd recommend reading https://www.apple.com/support/macbasics/  and if you have an Apple Store in your general area stop buy and ask questions. You were not specific as to what screen, printer etc... that you want to use with the iMac and that is all important so you can verify they are compatible.

  • Looking for Lightweight Desktop with Widgets

Apparently I still cannot fix the kbuildsycoca4 problem... So I'm deciding to switch to another desktop environment/properly configured window manager that takes a short time to set up.
I must be able to use some desktop widgets or have Launchy...so what do you think I should use?

Apparently setting it up isn't as horrific as I thought!

  • Im writing a candidate and im looking for a complete graphic-list of all the IPHONE's ICONS (whithout downloading/paying the SDK))

    Hi!
Im writing a candidate exam about how icons could help out a certain application in a smartphone format.
I would love to have an overview of the IPHONE/IPAD ICONS that are used in the iOs 5.1 or earlier.
I would assume i could find them in the SDK but i cant log in and dont want to pay 99$ for just an overview of these icons

    Thanks for the reply...
And to clear out the symbols/icons requests.
This is something im looking for - only official :
    When you mention:
"Apple has guidelines and agreements covering use of their icons/IP."
Of course they have, im just thinking it cant be illegal to evaluate and test these icons.
As i cant access the SDK, do you know where the guidelines may exist?

  • Looking for some icons

    Hi,
I'm just finishing off my app and trying to replace some of my buttons with some icons. I'm looking for a free icon library with some buttons like -
    - Calendar
    - Search
    - Add
    - Select
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
    Tx in advance

Have you already looked through the "Java look and feel Graphics Repository"?
    http://java.sun.com/developer/techDocs/hi/repository/
They don't have any Calendar icon, but Search, Add & Select.

  • HT1338 My Mac keeps Looking for Networks? The ICON in menu when clicked shows the WI- FI (in gray) ON then goes to Looking for Network again. Shutting down the connection.

My MAC keeps looking for networks? The ICON in menu bar when clicked shows the WI-FI (in grey) it keeps shuting off and disconnecting. Any Ideas???

Test after taking each of the following steps. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. In some cases, the problem has been resolved by repairing permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Reinstall OS X.
