Looking for memory card(s), GPX MP3 player

I have a GPX MP3 digital player, the MW3337, and am looking for memory card(s) as it only holds 1GB.  I do not have the manual any more.  My questions are; What have you used and liked for memory cards, what will work best for this model, and any other information that is relevant to the MW3337 and memory cards.  thanks

Hey drumset09 -
In examining this unit, it appears that any SD card or MMC card will work for this unit.  You have options up to 16 gb presently.  I would recommend whatever size will fit your needs.  There is a plethora of choices out there these days.
I hope this helps!

  • I'm looking for a new small, efficient media player.

    Hi there.
The background that will give you insight into my situation but doesn't need to be read
I come from a very cushioned past media-wise. When I really started to get into listening to music I was still using Windows. It was Winamp first, which I liked but found a little much, but a few coincidences later found XMPlay, a free but closed-source media player capable of playing not only some weird file formats such as MO3, MOD, IT, XM, S3M etc, of which I have a few files in this format, but also MP3, OGG, WAV, and all the other general stuff out there. The timing was just perfect and I "grew" into my "media years" with this player. I used it across my transition from Win98 to XP, and also used it on a Win95 laptop - and I don't even think I had to "help" the system "like" the player to make it work, although I could be wrong.
However, XMPlay has no Linux version, and as far as I can see, no porting is planned. And as I said before, it's closed source, so not much can be done there.
In my setup I had a machine set aside for media playback because it had a SB16 in it, and I'd run it with the bass set to 100% and treble set to 0%. Despite what you might think, the output was awesome with headphones - it could give me a good headache or two without distorting at all.
So, when I first switched to Linux, I didn't initially switch this machine over, but left it running Win98. This got to me in the end so I switched it over... and immediately faced issues. Since there was no port of XMPlay, I needed to find a new player, and fast. XMPlay has a bunch of audio postprocessing features I had enabled, none of which I found support or equivalents for in Linux (for example, an EQ setting promoting bassboost, in addition to that provided by the card - you can understand the headaches). I eventually gave up and ran XMPlay using WINE... and left it that way, for several months. I mean, it worked, didn't it? Then the fact that XMPlay over WINE on a 450MHz processor (it's a P3, haha) used 50%+ CPU -minimum- for the player to even be running (IIRC) got to me, so I decided once again that a new player had to be found. After some digging, I found XMMS to be the most likely candidate (it supports LADSPA and I could configure a bass-boost filter), and for the most part, it worked well. Quite well.
Then... after I recently found myself recording some audio from the SB16's output to my main machine's input (the simplest way to get around the issue that the bass boost isn't very easy to feed back into the card - or impossible, I haven't tried it for so long), and had my headphones connected to my desktop to monitor the recording. Then, after that was done, I somehow started listening to some other piece of music (through my main box), for whatever reason. I immediately noticed a rather stark contrast in quality to what I'd recorded from the SB16 and what I was listening to. A doublecheck later confirmed that yes, my SB16 was of terrible quality, and yes, I needed a solution, since I wasn't gonna listen to that kinda sound quality anymore now that I knew.
Over the past few weeks (months?) up until this point I've slowly been weaning myself off the music I liked so much (XMs and MODs, and maybe the occasional S3M), and the postprocessing features I thought had glued themselves into my ears....
    The, uh, like, point.
....so I need a media player that doesn't have much in terms of sound processing, but meets all the following requirements, either built in or as a plugin (as logically applicable):
    * Can hide completely, leaving only a hotkey to bring it back. I don't use a system tray and don't want to, for any purpose.
    * Is written in a compiled language.
    * Has configurable global hotkey support
    * Isn't bloated, dependancy-wise, filesize or memory-wise, or desktop-real-estate-wise - something that uses basic C and has a basic GUI preferred
    * Controls the hardware volume so that volume changes are instant
    * Supports tracks longer than 60 minutes / 1 hour
    * Has good file management / playlist support
    * Is something I can throw a gigantic directory tree at and expect to load all the music in it, FAST. I could throw my entire 32GB HDD at XMPlay when I wanted to see/remember what new music was on it and I'd just leave it alone for slightly under 5 minutes. When I returned to it, bam, playlist. That was on the 450MHz P3, running Win98. XMPlay also gave me feedback - if you can recommend something that shows me where it is on the filesystem, that'd be great.
Up until now, Audacious has met those requirements. But it's had the following issues:
    * The track details window won't open for random tracks
    * The time display stuffs up for tracks longer than >60m, showing the position at 0:59, then, 1:40, then after 10 minutes have passed 1:41, etc
    * The volume control randomly forgets how to change the volume, and I refuse to change the controller to use a software volume since it'll induce delays
    * The system has no ability to add directories recursively - this was present in XMMS, but the BMP guys removed it (?!?!?!) and since Audacious is a fork of BMP, ...
    * The latest version's global hotkeys plugin restores the window to a non-changeable location when I use the "toggle player windows" function. As a visual person I find this a huge blocker.
Now for the list of players that don't do what I want. XD
    * mpd - expects all your files to be in one folder; mine are everywhere, even thrown across sshfs mounts to other systems.
    * audacious - ...
    * xmms - too boring. GTK1. old stuff. unsupported.
    * xmms2 - seems too "unreachable". I haven't tried this player yet, mostly because Arch has no clients in the repos. *stab*
    * banshee - 200TB of dependencies, and it needs 400TB of RAM to run. Read: I dislike Mono.
    * rhythmbox, banshee, amarok, exaile, quod libet - iTunes-ey UI. I hate iTunes-ey UIs.
    * songbird - depends on the Gecko rendering engine. I have 512MB RAM, and I already run Firefox, thanks.
    * bmp, xmms, audacious - winamp-ey UI. I want to move away from winamp-ey UIs.
If you have any suggestions... I'll be amazed.

Sonata, disable system tray icon, modify any panel settings to ignore it
    * Is written in a compiled language.
    mpd is written in C
    * Has configurable global hotkey support
Set up keybindings for mpc commands
    * Isn't bloated, dependancy-wise, filesize or memory-wise, or desktop-real-estate-wise - something that uses basic C and has a basic GUI preferred
mpd uses basic C, many, many GUIs for it around, extremely small memory footprint
    * Controls the hardware volume so that volume changes are instant
    Keybind alsamixer commands
    * Supports tracks longer than 60 minutes / 1 hour
Is there a modern media player that doesn't do this?
    * Has good file management / playlist support
I never use mpd's playlist capabilities, but they do seem fairly extensive.
    * mpd - expects all your files to be in one folder; mine are everywhere, evn thrown across sshfs mounts to other systems.
Apparently you have never heard of symbolic links. OH SNAP! Just create a single directory to collect all the links in. Also, mpd does not expect everything to be in one folder; it expects everything to be available from one parent folder, allowing you to organize beneath that parent.
The problem you're having isn't that you're looking for a music player, you're looking for a wm/media player/file manager, and that just doesn't exist on Linux, largely because we are sane (for the sake of argument, ignore Songbird right now, I don't think any of us are crazy enough to use it anyways). Like looking for a zebroctonoceros, even though a zebra exists, an octopus exists, and a rhinoceros exists, they do not exist in the same creature. For interfacing with X (keybindings and the disappearing music player), you're better off going through a configurable wm like Openbox. For the actual music playing, well, I don't see any problems with mpd besides your music files being messy, and you can't expect music playing software to solve a personal organization problem. If your file system is messy, then use a file manager to fix it, not your mp3 player. I put a lot of effort into keeping my music files properly tagged and accessible from a single top level directory called music, which then splits off into mp3/ogg files, flac files, podcasts, etc, and that largely solves the problem of wondering where s--t is.
Another idea for you, if you have multiple machines. Collect all your music onto a single machine, and then set up that system to serve exclusively as an mpd jukebox you can listen to from your other computers over the network. Give it a try.

  • How do I specify folder and file options for memory cards in LR4?

    Hello!
I have read the sections Set import and file-handling preferences and Specify Auto Import settings in the manual. But they don't seem to answer my question. The other stuff that's written about importing files in Lightroom seem to only cover the import of photos to the Lightroom catalog, which is not my primary concern, although I do want them imported to the catalog as well. But before the photos can go to the Lightroom catalog they need to be improted, in other words copied over from the memory card to the local disk drive. Simply put, all I want is for Lightroom to take over the responsibility from Canon EOS Utility and behave the same way when importing/copying files to the local disk drive. How do I set up Lightroom to do just that?
I just want this type of folder and file structure:
    J:\2010_08_02\IMG_0037.JPG
    J:\2010_08_02\IMG_0039.JPG
    J:\2010_08_22\IMG_0372.CR2
    J:\2010_08_22\IMG_0372.JPG
    J:\2010_11_29\IMG_1405.CR2
    J:\2010_11_29\IMG_1405.JPG
    J:\2011_06_17\IMG_2887.CR2
    J:\2011_06_17\IMG_2887.JPG
    ... etc!
    1. First things first, where the heck do I specify the destination folder for new photos?
There is an option titled Show import dialog when a memory card is detected under the General tab in Preferences, but there is no folder destination option associated with this.
    2. How do I tell Lightroom to leave original file names as they are (i.e. IMG_2887.CR2) and place them in a new sub-folder (i.e. 2011_06_17) of the destination folder (J:\) named after the capture date of the photo (July 17, 2011)?
There are a few options under the File Handling tab in the Preferences, but they don't seem to concern the importation of files to the local disk drive.
    3. This maybe should have been the first question really; is Lightroom capable of importing files from the camera or a card reader to the local disk drive at all?
I sure would expect it to be able to do that, but from the looks of it I am not too confident about that.
For starters I would like it to just copy my photo files, either directly from camera or from a card reader to a destination folder of my choice, in the same fashion that Canon EOS Utility does it. I don't wat to just import the files to the Lightroom catalog and start working with the files directly from camera or memory card. Hell no! It's not an external disk drive for God's sake!
    Please advise!

I'm not sure how it is now, but there used to be a dedicated "photo downloader" in Adobe Photoshop Elements at least up to version 6. Is this still part of Photoshop Elements? Or is it just available in Adobe Bridge? I don't remember though if it only imported files to the local disk drive or if it also added them to the library/catalog.
I've tested Downloader Pro and Lightroom 4 now for importing the photos to local disk drive. I also tested one application called Cam2PC Image Downloader.
The latter is actually called Cam2PC Image Browser and as its name suggests it's a software for browsing and doing basic changes to the photos, an image organizer. But it has a dedicated downlaoder called Cam2PC Image Downloader that can be very useful for importing photos. It comes either as a payed version or a freeware version.
I also tested one called Smart Photo Import. This one could be a good alternative to Downloader Pro, but I think it still needs many improvements, and it lacks a lot of the functionality of Downloader Pro. But to be fair, this does cost half as much as Downloader Pro (13 EUR or 17 USD compared to 30 USD).
I am most impressed by Downloader Pro. It has everything I could ask for really. But I was most impressed by its speed. I've done a simple speed test to see which one is faster and here are the results.
    Downloader Pro
    324 files (162 JPG & 162 CR2)
    Max speed: 21,25 MB/s
    Time: 02:58.6
    Lightroom 4
    Set to render "Standard" previews
    324 files (162 JPG & 162 CR2)
    Max speed: N/A
    Time: 03:41.7
Compared to Downloader Pro: 78% done at 02:58.6
    Rendering time: 04:35.5
    Total: 08:16.12
    Cam2PC Image Downloader
    324 files (162 JPG & 162 CR2)
    Max speed: N/A
    Time: 03:30.6
The max speed is the maximum transfer speed that ever occured during the transfer, and this is not something that the application is showing on it's own, it's the highest speed that I have seen with my own eyes. Unfortunately the other applications had no way of showing the speed, only Downloader Pro could show the speed. That's why it says N/A (as in not available).
As you can see Downloader Pro did the same job in shortest amount of time. Note that I could be transfering 2 or 3 cards worth of photos for the time it takes Lightroom to transfer just one.
The memory card was full when I started the test. It was a 4 GB Sandisk Ultra 30 MB/s card. The card reader was a Lexar USB 3.0 Professional. Although it was connected to a USB 2.0 port on Intel chipset motherboard (Intel X38, ICH9R). The destination folder was set to Desktop\(name of the application) on a Seagate 500 GB SATA (ST3500320AS) disk. All done on a Windows Vista PC with SP2.
One way to make Lightroom do this job more quickly is to choose "minimum" as previews rendering option. This way it doesn't spend as much time rendering the photos after being copied to the disk drive. Now, I have not tested this but I believe that Lightroom can start a second import of a second memory card whilst the first one is being copied. I'm not sure how it would affect the speed though, and you would need two card readers for this.
I wish I could skip rendering previews alltogether. I like to leave adding photos to the catalog and rendering previews for the last step. This is because it takes so long time and I like to use 1:1 previews, so I like leaving Lightroom to do this job in the morning or over the night.
I have learned to use prests now in the import dialog of Lightroom. So now it should not be a problem if I always want to copy new photos to the same location. If this location is changed I can recall it simply by choosing my preset. This is very handy.
All in all, Lightroom is very good at importing photos from camera or from a memory card reader to the local disk drive. But it's now my preferred way of importing photos to the computer. Which is why I have decided to purchase Downloader Pro. Thanks all for your help. I appreciate it!

  • Looking for an all around purpose media player (rather than iTunes)

    Hello Hello
In the PC environment there is the Winn Amp player. A good all-purpose free player, or pro version that can play just about any sound file.
It would be great top have a good utility player like that for MAC.
Apparently the Microsoft Media Player 9 for OS 10, is useless since all it plays are .wmv windows files. I downloaded it and it's just junk. It won't even open wav files.
Does anyone know where you could even BUY a nice reliable sound file player for MAC?
    Thanx
    Mike

Since iTunes has been around for so long on the Mac platform and bundled with every Mac, few users look elsewhere for for an audio player. If you're looking for something to play a wide array of audio formats, then Cog is a good option. It hardly does anything, and by that I mean that there are absolutely no bells and whistles, but it plays just about anything, and it's the only player for OS X that truly supports gapless playback.
Another very nice player for OS X is Whamb. It only plays MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, but it also supports radio streams in both those formats, and allows music sharing via Rendezvous. This player hasn't been updated for a long time, so it's PPC only (it won't work on Intel Macs). I use it for radio streams--I actually think it's the best player for that purpose, but I also like the logical "tree" organization it uses for music files.

  • No support for Muvo NX 128 mb mp3 player data recove

I'm from Singapore, one of the reason I'm posting this on the forum is to seek help and broadcasting of my helpless situation I'm in, for awareness.
I have a Creative Muvo NX 28 mb mp3 player, own for more then three years, without giving me problems and works almost prefectly fine. Its a good piece of device I would recommend to friends who love music and work a the same time. The piece of device can store 28 mb of files. Of course you have 52mb anf g of muvo which are better compared to mine.
Until recently, the device failed on me and the windows OS was not responding to open my dri'ves whenever I insert the muvo device. After series of diagnosis, it was certify by me that its a hardward mare-function. But Amazingly it was still able to play music when in a mp3 player mode, but unable to read the flash dri've on a window base OS which I usually can.
For studing the problems, I have to go through salvation to open the player phyiscally.
Knowing that my warranty has long gone, I decided to recovery by myself and realise something the device is made up of two circuit boards. Its over technical to explain what I saw and to cut short, my data in the memory is not dmg and is believe it can be recoverable possibly!
I hope creative support would help me as the data are important, not music but work related files.
Unfortunately I approach the Asia Service Support, supposely to be the best but ended up wasn't successful to RESOLVE MY PROBLEM.
To make matter worst, the muvo NX 28mb player is not avaliable in the market easy and I have troubles getting the parts to fix the broken device
For the benefit of those who are using memory flash-base mp3 players, CREATIVE does not offer a DATA recovery service, even if it happens that you need to retrieve important data stored in those players which in case happens to fail on you!
In the end, this happens to me all the time in Singapore..i couldn't get a satisfying support from Creative... I have learned that Creative are not competent in supporting repairs or data recovery for older creative users like me..
I have sort out everything I could, and hope someone can help me out in getting those files back...

  • Nokia C2-03 Set Password for Memory Card

    Hi All,
I m using C2-03, I found an option to set password on memory card.
Apps and Games > Memory Card > Mem. card opt. > Set password
for my privacy I set a password but the Memory card still opens without asking. Can anyone plz inform me how do I secure my private data using password?
    Thanks,
    Khaild.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It will continue to open up without the password. The password will only be asked if you insert the memory card in a different phone and it is only required once. It will keep opening up normally from the next time.
That password isn't there to keep your memory card protected inside your phone but instead to keep others from using your memory card. As long as the password is there, the phone can't be used on any other phone or even on a PC through card reader.

  • Can i convert itunes songs i paid for to play on an mp3 player

Im trying to put songs i purchased from itunes and put them on an mp3 player but its not working. Am i able to convert them back to they can work?

If they are iTunes Plus songs (purchased since 2009) you can convert them to MP3 by following these instructions:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
Note that the conversion process will create a new MP3 and leave the original AAC in place, so make sure you are using the new one for your player.
If you have any "protected" iTunes song files, you need to first upgrade them to iTunes Plus, and then do the conversion.

I'm guessing the Wifi card since the E2 has BT already.
I found a few on amazon.com, but as Tribbles mentioned eBay may be the cheapest place to find one:

    Hello,
I have a Harpertown Mac Pro and wanted to know why there are discrepancies between the airport cards for the 2006 and 2008 mac pros? I was on ebay and I found a slew of airport cards, but they are saying that they will only work in 2006 mac pros and not 2008 mac pros. What gives? The card looks the same, and fits exactly the same. So, why wouldn't it work in 2008 mac pros?

What you need (that would be an Apple product) has the model number: MB363Z/A. This is for the "Mac Pro Early 2008."
