  • MICR Fonts for check E13B

    Hi,
I am working on checks. I am evaluating E13B ID Automation MICR fonts. ID Auto offers many fonts like IDAutomationMICR.TTF, IDAutomationSMICR.TTF etc.
I would like to know which is the most widely accepted font for checks and what is the font size to use for printing checks.
    Thanks
    Neeraj

    Hi Tim,
I was looking through a post regarding MICR Fonts for check printing:
Has there been any further development done on this subject?
"I am trying to setup an AP Check using XMLP and access the MICR font and the Signature "font" from the printer. I can of course get everything to work from MS Word, however, I need to be able to either - print it Directly from JDE using the RTF templateor I need to be able to print it from the PDF.
Can I use embedded <esc> commands or PCL call before the PDF is created and if so, can anyone provide documentation or direction on how to set this up? "
Your help would be much appreciated, Thanks
    Nelly

I got again a total system freeze today when I wanted to launch firefox using only the openbox menu, without wbar running.
So I decided to try now the 'nouveau.noaccel=1' kernel command line parameter, and to use again wbar for my frequently used applis.
In the Xorg log, the differences are:

  • How to implement MICR Fonts for AP Checks using XML Publisher

    Hello -
We are upgrading from Oracle 11.5.9 to R12.1.1
I have created the RTF template for AP checks. Everything works except that now I have ti implement MICR fonts. Our earlier solution was through Optio, which I can not use now.
Please help me find necessary documentation to find ALL of the steps required to implement MICR fonts in the XMLP/RTF/PDF environment. Also, do we have to buy the fonts files, or are they available for free to download. We are using HP-UX 9000.
    Thanks

Using MICR in XMLP is like using any other special font (i.e. barcode). Please see below some link on how to have the fonts(MICR) working on your templates. Also, you could buy fonts but may want to try first on the MICR font shipped with the BI Publisher Desktop (i.e. C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts).

  • MICR Font for printing payroll checks

We are in the process of changing banks. The new bank has rejected our sample checks because the spacing is too wide. We are supposed to be using MICR font E-13B.
How do I find out what font we're using? And, how do I change the font?

I used the free GnuMICR.ttf from this site: http://sandeen.net/GnuMICR/
The checks were reviewed by a bank and approved.

  • Suitable Fonts for new website

I have never developed a website, but now that I have iWeb '08 I am going to try. I have heard that there are only certain fonts that you should use (which is disappointing because I have a great font library) and I am an artist and would like at least my logo to look like it actually does. What are the guidelines for choosing fonts for a website? I know this is a dumb question, but I am a total beginner.

In general you should try to use web safe fonts.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/FontsandColors.html
You can use other fonts by converting them to an image but you should do this sparingly as it will increase your page download time. The iWeb help file will show you how to do this.

I am looking for Japanese fonts for Reader on Sparc Solaris.
I understand that Reader 8.1.7 is the latest for Sparc.

  • Installing MICR Font

    Hi
I need to install MICR font for check printing in Payroll and I am following the steps from Metalink Note [373377.1|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:7685619999041617940::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,373377.1,1,0,1,helvetica]
After creating font files and font Mappings, when I go to Configuration > FO Processing, I am not able to select the font mapping set I have created in here, as it says no items found. However when I go to Font Mappings and query on the Mapping set, it retrieves it.
Am I missing any step here. I followed every step in the note except for step 10, style and weight as I don't see any such fields here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

As you have followed the note, try checking your Mapping Set "type" if it's for FO Processing.
--> Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.

  • MICR font not displayed in PDF on SUSE Linux Server for Check Writer (XML)

We are generating checks by running the Check Writer(XML) concurrent request and are not able to see MICR fonts on the Check. We downloaded the free version from IDAutomationSMICR.ttf and the fonts were registered under /usr/local/fonts/micr directory. I registered in APPS and uploaded the file IDAutomationSMICR.ttf. Am I missing any steps. The DBA's have registered the fonts under /usr/local/fonts/micr on SUSE Linux Server . The custom Checks are generated but no luck with the fonts. Please advise. Can I download MICR fonts other than IDAutomation site? Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Hari

I use version 11i, so the steps are probably different. Download a font file (gnuMICR for me). Extract it to a location of your choice on your operating system.
Follow these steps to load the MICR font to the server. (Step 11 was missing in some of the metalink documents in late 2007. I think Jan. 2008 will be OK).
    1.     Log in as XML Publisher Administrator.
    2.     Navigate to Administration->Font Files->Create Font File.
    3.     Fields are Font Name and File. For Font Name choose any descriptive name. File will browse your PC to locate the font file.
    4.     Navigate to Font Mappings->Create Font Mapping Set.
    5.     Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts. [MICR Font]
    6.     Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set. [MICR]
    7.     Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
    8.     Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add multiple fonts to a set).
    9.     Font Family is the exact same name you see in Word under Fonts. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime. [GnuMICR]
    10.     Style and weight must also match how you use the font in Windows. Normal and Normal are good defaults. [Normal, Normal]
    11.     DO NOT enter Language or Territory
    12.     Choose a value for Font Type. [Truetype]
    13.     Search for the Font you just created in step 3. [GnuMICR]
    14.     Navigate to Configuration -> FO Processing -> Font Mapping Set. Can also be done at data def and template level under Edit Configuration. Hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    15.     Select your new mapping set.
    16.     Make sure the font is not referenced under File->Properties->Custom in the RTF template file.
    17.     Select a temporary directory on your concurrent processing node (Configuration -> General). This needs to be a private area not shared by other processes, read writeable by the applmgr (owner of the $APPL_TOP file system). It should be fairly large 5 GB or 20x larger than any datafile being used. The fonts will be downloaded here the first time they are used.
    18.     Also at this site level select your font mapping set.
    19.     Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop looking for uninstalled fonts?

Running Firefox 3.6.16 on MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.6.7: Every time I quit and restart Firefox, it searches my iDisk and finds uninstalled fonts (some of which are actually installed--these are original font files I purchased stored there). What looks like an OS box pops up saying Firefox wants permission to use these uninstalled fonts (and even though I click don't ask again for Firefox, these boxes pop up on every restart). This does not happen on my desktop Mac. Short of deleting the files, how can I stop Firefox from searching for uninstalled fonts? Thanks,

    You can try this:
Move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts:
    # Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
    # Open Font Book > Preferences
    # Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
    # Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to Computer
    # Select all User fonts.
    # Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
    # Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

  • Fonts for RedHat Linux

The Adobe font store lists fonts for Windows and Mac.  What about fonts for Linux?
We are using LaTeX on RedHat Linux and a requirement is to use the Adobe Univers 57 Condensed font family in a report I am generating.
The IT department is leaning towards requiring use of Type 1 fonts rather than allowing use of OpenType fonts.
Which Type 1 product (Mac or Windows)  do we need to license for use on Linux?  And just in case they allow OpenType fonts, which OpenType product (Mac or Windows)  do we need to license for use on Linux?
Is there anything else we need to consider in regards to using Adobe Fonts on Linux?  Same for use with LaTeX on Linux?

You can almost certainly use Windows Type 1 fonts in your Linux app (though some require .AFM files, these are also supplied with the fonts, even though Windows doesn't need them).
On the OpenType side, the fonts are the same files for Mac and Windows.
Your only complication is that to use the Adobe download manager and get the files in the first place, you may have to do the purchase from either Windows or Mac OS.
