Looking for MIDI Drum Pads

Can anyone recommend some good midi drum pads that work well with GB? I was previously using the pads build onto my M-Audi Axiom keyboard, and despite them being cheap and M-Audio, they worked relatively well until they stopped working entirely. Looking to spend up to $500. Thanks.

Check out my response to your Q in the GB 8 forum.
For $500 you could get something with decent sounds as well - check out Roland Handsonic, NI Maschine (don't know how well it works with GB though), other grooveboxes by Roland, Akai, Korg, etc.
If you're not looking for something with sounds but only as a MIDI controller for GB, you might look into another Axiom. They now have some "pro" models with extra features.
If you just want pads, you might be able to repurpose a used drum machine on the cheap.

  • Suggestion for a drum pad interface to use in Logic 7.2

Hello all. I'm looking for suggestions for a drum pad interface to use with logic 7.2. I was very interested with the Korg PadKontrol but unfortunately it is not UB compliant. According to my understanding it will only work in Rosetta. Can anyone else let me know what pad interface you use (UB compliant) and your experiences with it. I am doing alot of research on what to get but I really believe in Feedback from "real life" users. Thank you very much in advance for your time!!

the pad itself uses MIDI to communicate with the Mac. They bundle software with the pad that is not UB. So if you are not intending to use the editor software, it is irrelevent.

  • Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. What are you using?

Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. Suggestions? What are you using? I tried Loopseque and I like it, but I can't make it run once I switch apps. Help please.

That's definitely strange, kzmidge. I want a working phone in your hands though. I noticed you mentioned you received the suggestion to complete a reset. Did you already do that? Is it working again? Are you receiving an error message?
If you hesitated a little longer to complete the reset, you can try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/rxg0ii and see if you can access mobile sites from your browser. This mode will stop 3rd party applications from running, so you won't be able to use the apps you mentioned but we may be able to narrow down the trouble in Safe Mode. If the mobile sites work, that means the trouble may be in a recently downloaded application and you may be able to avoid the reset my uninstalling some of your more recently installed applications. If it's still giving you trouble, the reset http://vz.to/18wzOCi is the next best step.

  • Looking for 2x2 drum control pads for Logic

    Hi all, happy new year.
I'm looking for a tiny control pad instrument with only 4 pads - small enough that I can sit anywhere (eg plane seat - economy :)) and tap out rhythms.
    Any suggestions out there?
    Cheers,

  • Sequence notes for a drum pad

    Hi,
I am looking to buy an alesis performance pad or roland spd-s or something of the like so that i can hook it up to mainstage via MIDI and play samples from behind my drum kit.
I was wanting to know if you could set a sequence of notes to be played by a pad, for example, if i were to hit pad 1 once it would play, say, a C1, then if i were to hit it again E1, then for a third time, G1 and finally for a fourth time, C2 and then when i hit it for a fifth time the sequence would reset back to C1 to play the sequence of 4 notes when i choose to.
If possible i'd like to be able to do this for more than 4 notes as well.
Its basically so i can get something like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_zUoMlMX8U
If you watch you'll see every time he hits a pad it plays a different note for the amount of notes in his sequence.
    Sorry for the long message,
    any help is appreciated

  • Looking For Ludwig Drum Sample

I am currently in the midst of a project of recording Beatles covers and while I love practically everything about Logic, I can't say I'm all that keen on the drum samples, especially as I'm not too interested in the electronic stuff, etc. However, I figured, as I am doing Beatles covers, and with the litany of stuff available, I was wondering if someone could guide me as to where I could find some nice, vintage Ludwig drums, if it's possible. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The only difference between the two products are the kits that were sampled. Custom and vintage is, well, "custom and vintage kits", where as the superior is more "modern."
Here is more info on both kits:
    http://www.toontrack.com/custom_vintage.shtml
    http://www.toontrack.com/superior.shtml
Have a listen to the demos and see which one will work best for your projects. I'm sure you'll love either one you go with! Best of luck with the project!
edit: BTW, I dont know how much of a drummer/programer you are, but if your not into creating your drums from scratch and would rather use pre-created drum parts played by real drummers, check out http://www.ezdrummer.com/prodinfo_ezd.asp They even have one called "Vintage Rock" which maybe right up your alley! In fact, if I were to do it over again, I would probably pick this option as its seems much quicker to produce realistic results (Though I'm very happy with DKFH Superior).

  • MIDI CONTROLLERS/DRUM PADS

just wondering what type of Midi Controllers some of you are using?
i'm looking at grabbing one this weekend, and was wondering if any of you may have any recommendations?
also, does anyone on this forum use any type of midi drum pad units? (similar to some of the Roland pads that are available for creating drum beats.)

I use the M-Audio Trigger finger, it works well.

  • Looking for sounds - mainly realistic

jazz and r & b sounds for composing tunes and listening back to.
    any sound libraries you'd recommend?
looking for classic drums and bass sounds of 50's, 60's and 70's....
and horns, etc... if any sound at all good...
    thanks.

While quality free sound files are often hard to find to match a specific need, you can try searching Google for some different sites that offer them.  One resource that may be useful for you is the Flash Kit site... generally they have a variety of free offerings to support different elements of Flash design...

  • Why are drum pads not a valid MIDI input the screen controls pallet?

I'm slowly getting around to creating a Concert that represents my controller setup and realized that the drum pads have a different behavior.
When setting up my Korg nanoPAD as a drum sample controller, I have to map it to a keyboard and not a 2x6 drum pad group. If I do not assign it to a keyboard, I cannot associate it with a channel strip playing back an EXS drum kit. They keyboard drop down in the MIDI input properties for a channel strip will not list the nanoPAD as an input even though I have already associated the pads with their virtual counterparts in the Layout tab.
I can manually assign each pad to a MIDI note, but that sends the note event to all channel strips and I have no control over that.
    What gives??
It looks really lame to have another keyboard widget in my concert layout when all want is a representation of the 12 pads on the nanoPAD.

In edit mode, you should be able to create mappings that effectively transform your incoming drum pad note into another note on a specific channel strip. You can create multiple mappings per drum pad in order to trigger different sounds on different notes per channel strip.
If you don't want a keyboard you can also use the "MIDI activity" object, it acts like a keyboard but takes up less space and doesn't display layers. It also glows to let you know that MIDI activity is coming in. Since all of the routing happens through screen objects, you need some sort of object there to do the routing -- either the MIDI activity object or the keyboard. The drum pads let you have additional flexibility since they allow you to make mappings (including changing patches, etc.), but the routing still needs to happen through one of the two routing objects unless you want to make each drum pad directly as I explained above.

  • Using a drum pad and MIDI keyboard - beginner question

Is there any way I can have my pad controller to be a dedicated drum pad? So no matter what insrument is selected, the pad just plays drum sounds? I have my MIDI keyboard and pad controller plugged in at the same time, and (for example) when I switch to a piano sound, the pad controller does too.
    How can I change this?

It's up to the Keyboard, what does the mpk manual say?
Can the Pads transmit on a different MIDI channel than the Keyboard section?

I Am looking for an app free app that will allow me to type and edit my homework.     I am  using a 7.1.1 version of I pad.   I have a wireless printer from Walmart hp envy 4502 which is working great.  Appreciate any input

Only two devices on our plan, so not so much an issue. And I have found myself using it much more than I thought I would when we got them (also first smart phones for both of us). Even got my wife to use hers for checking email while we were out of the country (big step forward for her ). I'm very interested in the ApplePay, but will want to wait a bit before diving into it. And since both phones are still in great working order, will likely wait a bit for the upgrade (sometime next year?). Will depend, I suppose, on the kinds of deals we see and what the plans turn out to be for updating my iPad and getting here one.
