Looking for Mini DVI to DVI direct into monitor

I currently have that adapter that connects the mini DVI out of the MBP into the existing DVI cable of the monitor. I'm really not love'in that adapter and it's kind of clunky so what I'm looking for is a cable that goes from my mini DVI direct to my monitor DVI socket. Any ideas where I can buy such a cable?

If you have a unibody MBP, it doesn't have a mini-DVI video-out; it has a mini-Displayport. If that's what you have, here's what you want:

Are you sure that the "On My Mac" folders weren't empty? If all your mail accounts are IMAP, they may have been.

  • Does anyone make a water-tight, fully submergible, case for iPod Touches?  I am looking for one that could be taken into a pool or ocean, so that you could take underwater pictures.  Thank you!

Does anyone know if anyone makes a waterproof, fully submergible case for iPod Touches, 4th Generation? I am looking for one that can be taken into a pool or ocean, where I would be able to take underwater pictures or videos. I've tried numerous web sites, including "Otter Box", but have been unable to find one for the iPod Touch.  I believe there might be one out for iPhones, but can't find one for an iPod Touch. Thank you for any help.

    I found this review...

Unfortunately, it sappears that the cameras are covered by the cases. I'm look too as I'm starting SCUBA lessons.

  • Mini DVI to external monitor (VGA) problem/firmware update does nothing

    Hi,
Four months ago I bought a new white 13-inch Macbook (2006 model I believe) along with a handy mini-DVI - VGA adapter. I used a Hanns-G HU196D external monitor which worked fine for a couple of months but then stopped, and had the same problem with a (much cheaper) 'LiteView' monitor. I find it bizarre how they work absolutely fine and then stop, with no damage to the adapter, cable or ports. I've since bought a new adapter and cables + trying out a different monitor and still the same problem...
I've installed a firmware update that describes the exact symptoms, but it's done nothing. Can anyone help me resolve my issue?? It's still under warranty so is it an unusual problem that'll need to be fixed by Apple?
    Thanks

Are you using the mini DVI to DVI followed by a DVI to VGA adapter? That may not work if the mini DVI to DVI adapter does not pass analog video. If that is the case, you need the mini DVI to VGA adapter:

  • How do I connect my Mac Mini (DVI) to a monitor (VGA) and 2 TV's (HDMI)?  What equipment do I need?

I have an older Mac Mini with a DVI out.  Right now using a monitor with VGA in, and since my Mini came with the adapter, all is good.  However, I'm trying to use this setup to also connect 2 50" TV's that have HDMI's.  What would be the proper setup in order to run the mini and the monitor along with the TV's?  Thanks!

You need USB to video adopters. See:

Instead of using polinomal Fit a need a VI that is able to Fit a sinuscurve into the measurpoints.
Has anybody already done something like that?

I am not sure what you mean by measure points so I cannot offer a direct solution. I suspect that you would be interested in the non linear Lev-Mar examples. There are a couple of good shipping examples that come with LabVIEW.
You may want to search NI's web site for other examples or resources. Goto www.ni.com >> support >> advanced search (it is at the bottom--click on the words). This launches the best way to search NI's site because it allows the user to limit their seach to resources of interest.

  • Looking for mini or 24 imac

I can not decide on purchasing a mini with a Mac display or just by the 24in I mac
Any advantages or not by going with a mini. I think the mini is not as strong of a system, but you can get a better monitor this way. Please post your opinions.

There is certainly nothing wrong with buying a Mac mini. It's a remarkably powerful system despite the diminutive size, and like the iMac, it has plenty of potential for external expansion but little (well, indeed none when it comes to the mini) internal expansion options. However, as an entry level system the mini is really intended as a stepping stone - a means to get into MacOS, or get a reasonably powerful MacOS system, at reasonably low cost whereas the iMac is more akin to the system to step up to after the mini.
The reason is pretty simple - the iMac has a faster processor, faster hard drive, larger hard drive, is faster overall in handling data, has potential for larger RAM, has a dedicated video processor with it's own video RAM rather than on-board graphics with shared memory, can drive not only the internal display but also a second one either as a mirror or spanning across the two, it has FW 800 as well as FW 400, a built-in iSight camera and mic and 802.11n compatibility. Where basically the mini is a laptop with display, keyboard and trackpad removed, the iMac is a desktop.
None of these factors make the mini a bad system or a poor choice, but they do make the iMac a great system and a good choice if your budget goes that high and your interests are in obtaining a system capable of delivering considerable power to meet not only present needs, but also potential future ones.
I would also not place a great deal of emphasis on reports of problems with iMac models, because while it's certainly the case that there have been some display anomalies - and as a G5 iMac owner you very likely came across the early 'mid-plane' issues with those systems - the problem units don't affect models which are free from defects. As obvious as that sounds, it points to the simple fact that you need to buy the system that most closely matches your needs, not which fail to work for others. When you buy what you need, check it carefully and hold Apple accountable if it proves to be defective in any way.

  • Looking for an App that forces iPhone into sleep/lock mode

I don't need anything fancy.  Searching the app store has proved fruitless.
I don't need any password protection.  I dropped my phone and it broke the sleep/lock button.
I just wanna lock my phone so I can throw it into my purse without pressing buttons and using power.
As it is now I've set the auto lock to 1min and stand around waiting til it shuts off, however this is frustrating because when I'm using it its usually on for hours at a time and 1min of idle shuts it down so I have to go into settings and set autolock to never... and then go back and set it to 1m to shut it down.
If anyone can name an app to lock/sleep my phone I'd be grateful.  If you don't know of an app... perhaps you could write one and sell it on app store.
    Dayna.
ps.  if you write one please send me the name.  I'm probably not the only one with a dropped phone!
pps.  Reset, Restore, Restore as new have all failed.

As already provided, Apple does not make the necessary API's available to developers to do what you want. Only Apple could implement such.

  • [SOLVED]Looking for a tiling manager which supports multiple monitors

I use musca and I absolutely have no problems with it other than this :
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 04#p774104
I also tried emailing the musca distribution list but it bounced, so I am not sure how actively it is being maintained.
So I am on the lookout for a new tiling window manager. I know Xmonad supports multiple monitors, but I do not know haskell and I was hoping to find something else as well. Xmonad is also not a manual tiler.
So let me know if anyone of you knows of a tiler that has the above support.
EDIT : I have already looked at the Comparison of Tiling Window Managers over at the wiki. Infact I was the one who added Musca's entry in that table.

"i3 was created because wmii, our favorite window manager at the time, didn't provide some features we wanted (multi-monitor done right, for example), had some bugs, didn't progress since quite some time and wasn't easy to hack at all (source code comments/documentation completely lacking). Still, we think the wmii developers and contributors did a great job. Thank you for inspiring us to create i3. "
To change the border of the current client, you can use bn to use the normal border (including window title), bp to use a 1-pixel border (no window title) and bb to make the client borderless. There is also bt  which will toggle the different border styles.
    Examples:
    bindsym Mod1+t bn
    bindsym Mod1+y bp
    bindsym Mod1+u bb
or put in your config file
    new_window bb

  • Mini DVI - DVI to DVI - S-video adaptors

I want to connect my new Macbook with an older TV with SCART input.
I guessed a Mini-DVI<->DVI hooked up to a DVI<->S-video adaptor, finally connecting a s-video to Scart cable, would solve this.
I bought the two first adaptors from Apple, but the DVI:s wont fit!? They seem to be right looking at them, since one of them is male and the other one is female...
    Please help.

  • No sound on TV with mini DVI to HDMI cable.  Macbook, white, 2008-9 13"

Picture is fine, mirroring turned on, using mini dvi converter into HDMI on a new Samsung flat screen.  Want to avoid using additional cable from earhone plug to RCA plug in TV.  Thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply;  it saved me going through 16,000 permutations for nought.  BTW, although it seemed to be working well yesterday, today the computer is failing to load new sites, etc. when the DIVI is plugged in, and proceeds fine when unplugged.  Also, when I plug in the DVI, the screen image on the computer and tv flickers between black and then blue screens before the image stabilizes.  My TV and internet are both on Comcast cable, if that makes a difference.  Thanks for you help;  I wish the folks who sold lme the cable knew as much.  Also, no one seemed to know that you have to turn on the "mirroring" function for it to work at all.

  • Mini-DVi-port to Mini DisplayPort

In July 2009 i bought my first Macbook 13". And then on the 4th of october i ordered a new 24" LED Cinema Display. Then after waiting for 1 month i received my items to day only to find out that my Macbook has an mini-DVI-port and not an Mini DisplayPort as the Cinema Display. But if i had waited 1 month i could have bought the new Macbook 13" with a Mini DisplayPort - but who could have known!
How do i get an adapter for mini-DVI-port on my Mac to Mini DisplayPort on the LED Cinema Display?? Is it possible or should i contact Apple and ask them to trade my new Macbook to a apparently newer version free of charge?

  • Problem with mini displayport and mini DVI

    Hi,
My mac mini is connected with the mini-Dvi to my monitor. It works great.
I would like to connect my mac mini to my TV too.
I bought 2 adpaters : mini displayport to dvi and mini-Dvi to Video. It does not work. The two screens are black ...
First i would like to switch the connection : instead of connected my monitor with the mini-DVI port, i would like to connect my monitor with the mini Displayport. I changed the connection but it did not work : the screen is black so i can't do anything ...
After that i will connect the mini-DVI to my tv ...
    Help me please

At least two possibilities come to mind. One would be that the adapter you have is bad. Another is that the mini is starting into a resolution not compatible with the monitor. If the problem is the second one, then you can try starting the mini in Safe mode to see if that results in a useable screen. If it does, then set the resolution to the desired resolution and restart normally. The last selection made should persist through normal restart.
